True Blood to Invade Australia

Ryan KwantenAustralian newspapers are starting to inform their readers about the upcoming Australian premiere of Alan Ball’s very successful HBO TV series “True Blood” which will broadcast on the Showcase channel starting on Tuesday, February 10, 2009. This particular article comes from David Knox of SX and describes for the Australian audience the story line and premise of “True Blood”. Mr. Knox describes in detail the concept of vampires coming out into mainstream society as a result of Japanese scientists developing synthetic blood which can quell their thirst and need to hunt humans. He also discusses the main characters in the show and their particular problems and what makes them so interesting. Here is an excerpt of Mr. Knox’s commentary with an assessment of fellow Aussie Ryan Kwanten:

“Australian Ryan Kwanten (Home & Away, Summerland) plays Sookie’s brother Jason, a road worker and horny bad boy who finds himself as the number one suspect in a murder case. Someone is killing young women and they’re usually his recent conquests. With a ripped bod and rabid naked scenes, Kwanten is sex on a stick”

Mr. Knox’s assessment of “True Blood” is that the show is full of sexual energy with underlying tensions brewing below the surface with excellent performances by the cast. Australians should be prepared to become enthralled with this series as North American audiences have been.

Hey! I love TRUE BLOOD… Have both season 1 & 2 on dvd… Just wondering when season 3 is going to be released on dvd in australia? Super keen to get another fix! 😀

I LOVE true blood and cant wait for the 3rd season…already have the first 2 seasons on DvD…but not sure if anyone noticed this at the start of this article or not but “True Blood” which will broadcast on the Showcase channel starting on Tuesday, February 10, 2209. i dont think i cant wait 99 years to see seasons 3……i think someone made a big type-o here

    Definitely a typo that… it’s scheduled to air on Showcase in August & that in itself is a mistake I think. Waiting doesn’t just suck, it’s bullsh*t!

      Hey fellow True Blood fans, have watched the first 3 epsiodes of season 3, and it is sooooooo goood. Waiting til August and having to have Foxtel to watch it really really sucks. I dont know if I can wait til August!!!!

Also note to HBO, that’s disappointing that Australians can’t buy any True Blood merchandise from the HBO store, it was the same when I went on the HBO store years ago to buy Sex and the City merchandise, they would not ship overseas, I don’t see if were happy to pay postage why we can’t buy merchandise, we’re not that far away America!!!

I just watched on ‘E’ they had an interview with Sam & showed a sneak peak of Season 3 as it airs in the US on Sunday, it looks soooo good!!! They reckon it’s the best Season yet! Can’t wait til it shows on Fotxel Showcase in August, but I can’t wait that long I will be looking for the new episodes online straight from the US. I agree that’s crap we can’t watch it the same time as overseas, they streamed Gossip girl straight from the US. And I don’t know why people waited for Season 2 to be realised last month (May 2010) on DVD cause you have been able to buy the whole Season 2 (& 1) or an individual episode from Itunes, it’s been on there for months! I bought Season 2 from iTunes at the start of the year. LOVE True Blood, I want Eric to be my maker!! So hot! I have the identical red Fangtasia shirt that Sookie wears in Season 2, I wear it to bed every night 🙂
How do I find more info about the True Blood thing in September where some of the cast are visiting Australia???

    I’m pissed off we can’t purchase True Blood merchandise from HBO also. Not fair at all. As for the True Blood Convention where some of the stars of TB plus Charlaine Harris will be attending. That’s scheduled for late Sept 2010 & you can get your tickets via ‘The Hub’. Google it, they also have a facebook page.
    Less than 24 hours until the premiere airs in the States.. of course I’ll be watching it as fast as my Internet connection allows. I still however buy the Blu-ray DVDs when they come out so the Producers aren’t exactly losing any money from me. LOL

Wow. August. I guess we should be grateful they are even releasing it in 2010 for us. Or at all. we’ll just hang around and wait until the rest of the world has seen it and get the leftovers, shall we. It disgusts me that these large corporations don’t look after their fans.

    My male friend looks at a lot of TV blog sites and will tell me if anything changes with the date for TB. I will also be seeing on line, so lets prayer that they do not block it from us on line, like it did just before the finale. I will go crazy if I can’t see it online!

looks like I am going to have to get Austar/showcase or whatever so I can watch it in August. I have both seasons on dvd and all the books, and cannot wait to see what they do with season 3. I know books and series different, but enjoy both in a huge way.

i would have thought that season 3 will be on showcase like all the other seasons. They have been showing 2 again and it finished this week so I am hoping that this means that season 3 is going to be fast tracked to my screen earlier than august 🙂

    The TV blogs said that Foxtel has tried to get it fast tracked but HBO won’t release til Aug. They are the problem. Lets hope they change their mind! For our sakes!

    Just heard from my friend who saw the blog response on Foxtel Showcase and they say HBO won’t release TB until Aug and it had something to do with Box Office and when they would release it! They can fast track Supernatural and Universe, so why not TB!!!! Bugger!!!

I love this show can,t wait like every one els to see season 3 of True Blood. I have season 1 & 2 on d/v/d and i have read all the books . Reading them for the forth time as that is what we are reading in my book club and loveing it all over . I wont to know why the cast don’t came to Australia i would love to see them.

i got told ages ago that showtime brought it of chanell 9 coz they didnt think it would be worth showing also ways thought that was a big ooopsies on channel 9’s behalf it was a true story..lol

im counting down the days till the new book is released to get me through … i also have read the house of night series to curb the cravings and im just starting on the vampire acadamey.. both good series but not as good as sookie’s…lol

i am obsessed with TB & the books…have been since the first season premiered on foxtel in march last year…after that i downloaded season 2 as they aired in the US and read all the books to feed my thirst hehe….when i moved house last year my new housemates also loved it just as much, and i have turned my cousin & some friends on to it too! it has been replayed on foxtel (cable tv) and i am sure once it airs on our free to air channels (as dexter did) australia will go bloody crazy for it 🙂

i cannot wait for the convention in sept, i hope to buy a ticket very soon….and lets hope jason will be there along with pam, sam & mike spencer & the lovely charlaine harris who has provided us with this amazing world of sookie 🙂

I’ve been doing my very best to inform the woman of Australia about the joys of True Blood. I have watched both seasons on DVD and can’t get enough. For your informaiton I’m both Team Eric and Team Bill (why choose!) but Eric just wins out – he is seriously hot that man, although Stephen Moyer is closer my age demographic! Anyway can’t wait for Season 3.

Season 2 will be shipped from May 25th in the States. If you are like me and can’t wait for it to go on the shelves here you can pre-order your copy from Amazon now.
I’ve done the same thing with Book 10, another May 2010 release I can’t wait to receive.

OMG! I love True Blood. I think it is possible the greatest thing ever. I so can’t wait until I get season 2 on DVD because we don’t get showtime. But I’m so excited and can not wait.
