True Blood vs Twilight The Battle Is On!

Ted Casablanca of  “The Awful Truth” posted a poll called “Whose the Rob Pattinson of True Blood” Now I am obviously biased.  I saw “Twilight” and although I liked the movie,  I would rather see the poll called who is the Stephen Moyer,  or Alexander Skarsgard of “Twilight.”  You know what I say NO COMPARISON! That’s right (no,“Twilight” fans you may not have my address) you heard me.  Poor Edward,  he and Bella can’t even have a relationship because he will eat her?  Our Bill Compton can control his impulses, Eric Northman hmmmm… after that little feeding frenzy, well it was only one time, that’s OK.  We all have an off day.  He did try to kill Eric right ?? You saw That.

As far as I’m concerned the winner should be either Eric or Bill. The way I see it, “Dear and Precious” should not be used in the same sentence as vampire, terms such as let’s see… smoldering hot, sexy, dangerous and a few others but “DEAR” never.
Remember ladies this is all fang in cheek (could not resist) so let’s keep the comments on a nice note.

Well… When you think about it, not only do the two have the vampire deal in similar, there’s also the fact… Well –

True Blood: Sookie, a human who can read minds falls for Bill, the vampire, whose mind is the only one she couldn’t read.

Twilight: Edward, a vampire who can read minds falls for Bella, a human, whose mind is the only one he couldn’t read.

And of course they both have the love triangle involving a human, vampire and a shape-shifter.

And I haven’t even READ Twilight, sooo.

I agree that both Trueblood and Twilight are on two completely different planes and should not be compared. Their only similarities are vamps. That is all. Whether you like it or not, they are made for two completely different audiences. I just don’t like how people diss Trueblood because of the sex. It’s so much more than that. But I do love Anna Paquin’s response that if people think there’s too much sex in it, then they are not getting enough themselves.

When will the madness end?! True Blood is my fav, mostly because I fall in with the mature audience croud. However, I also enjoyed Twilight and plan on reading the books when time allows. That said, they are completely different, and comparing them on the basis of their vampire containment is getting on my nerves. They are written by different people to follow along with that authors idea of the vampire existance.
There is room for both of them in my opinion. Many are too young for true blood or just enjoy that teenage wasteland kind of thing. It is a personal choice, and mine is true blood. ERIC, BILL, and SAM (who in my opinion does not get enough attention, cuz he is hot in his own way)…..sigh. I like the dark, sexy, mystery that is true blood. Sparkles dont do it for me, but I enjoyed the story line of twilight.

These two stories have absolutely nothing to see …even Bill is not the real protagonist of this story… is Eric .. output so the comparison made is wrong

I love both – I love the romance in the twilight series, and I like the half romance, violence and drama/suspense of True Blood – I’m a mother 38 yrs young, work for a large company (blue collar)- I don’t fit your average idea of what older people should and shouldn’t like.

    Laura, I am in the same demographics as you, and I feel as you, and I am loving True Blood so much. I agree with you on both counts. Twilight and True Blood. They both have their place. Choosing one over the other is silly. They both have romance, violence, suspense, etc. Thanks to HBO we are able to have True Blood be a bit more of everything. I want it to be more out there. I like to be surprised and amazed and I love the leading MEN of True Blood. Bill is so wonderfully portrayed by the amazing Stephen Moyer. Give us more!

There is no competition. Twillight is for kids/teenagers and True Blood is for adults.

Both the books and the movie/HBO Series.

I love both books. I saw the movie twilight. but right now i am really enjoying true Blood. I love the characters in the show and love the connection sookie and bill have. PLUS…BILL and ERIC are SOOOO HOT!!!!

WELL, IT SOUNDS LIKE THIS SUBJECT WILL BE THE CONTROVERSY OF THE SUMMER! PERSONALY,I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN FASCINATED BY THE VAMPIRE MYTH AND READ THE ORIGINAL WHEN I WAS A TEEN. EVERYONE OBVIOUSLY HAS THEIR FAVORITES AND THERE IS ENOUGH ROOM FOR ALL OF US TO ENJOY WHAT AND WHO WE LIKE BEST.I AM A TRUEBLOOD FAN,BUT THATS JUST A MATTER OF TASTE.I THINK,FROM THESE RESPONSES,THAT WE WILL HAVE VAMPIRE CHOICES FOR A LONG TIME!(I HOPE)BY THE WAY,TANYA HUFF WROTE SOME VERY INTERESTING BOOKS BACK IN THE EARLY 90’S THAT ARE REALLLLLY GOOD! True Blood and Twilight should not be compared. One is for tweens and one is for adults. Love them for what they are or don’t. I am not a teenager, and although Twilight is cute, True Blood is for me. I am completely enamoured of it. Especially Bill/Stephen, Eric/Alexander as well, Theses are MEN, Edward is a high school boy in a sexless teenage movie, thats ok, leave that to the kids. True Blood is only for the adult crowd, so bring it on HBO. We Love it.

I have a place in my life for both. I fell in love with the Sookie Stackhouse series before Trueblood premier(series based on books I’m there reading). Then started hearing about some vampire movie Twilight comming out based on book on the trueblood wiki board( again right there reading. One is very sweet with first and everlasting love. The other is sexy,mysterious and the persuit of love is for the more mature reader( I will Not pass Sookie on to my teenage nieces, will to my best friend,my sister, and co-workers book 4 Eric in the shower need I say more). So I declare myself Switzerland. I love both

I just started watching True Blood cos a friend of mine said it was a good show. umm..about that…I swear some of scenes are ripped from the pages of Twilight. Personally speaking I love Twilight more than I like True Blood. But to each their own. Personally sparkling is hot in my book not being burnt to crisp in the sunlight.

      This I kno- but I constantly keep hearing that Trueblood was similar to the Twilight stuff. That is so annoying because you never hear anyone say “Hey Twilight is such a rip off of Trueblood”- even though the Sookie books came out so far before Twilight.

    i read the twilight books first and found it hard to move onto something else. you should read the sookie stackhouse novels from true blood. they are reallt good and give you a much better insight to the show

I am a huge fan of both twilight and true blood…both books have such unique and different take on vampires. People like to make fun of twlight because it’s geared more towards teens but the books are actually really good and show a side of vampires you don’t usually get to see. Just remember that vampires aren’t REAL so there is no right or wrong thing about what vampires are suppose to be like. They can sparkle in the sun or burn in the sun if that’s how the writer wants it. Both stephen and rob play the parts great. Just don’t judge twilight if you haven’t read the books because they are very different from the movie you’d be suprised!

    You’re awesome!! You are the FIRST to actually speak with a lot of sense!! It’s something I’ve been saying for a long time! People attack Twilight by stating of how vampires are suppose to be…they don’t seem to realize it’s a freaking MYTH!!

I like both series equally, and there is really no comparing the two. All three leading men are SEXY in their own ways. I’m Team Billwardic, and I will not pick one over the other 🙂

    on the screen true blood wins hands down the twilight movie i didnt enjoy. but when you talk about the books now that a difficult one. i love them both. but as i am re-reading the sookie ones now i will say TRUE BLOOD ROCKS

      I agree. I have seen the Twilight movie (it was fair to ok) and I am promising myself that I will read the Twilight novels. I have read all the Sookie S. novels and they were fun but I prefer the show. True Blood does ROCK!

      I’m an adult and I love Twilight. I will agree though that TrueBlood is for adults. Pre-teens or anyone under 17 should defiantly not be watching the show.

        I’m an adult to and I love Twilight book series, the movie and the actors…I’m sorry but I got tired of watching true blood, they are all trying hard to be sexy and scary but they are unattractive to look at…again sorry, that’s my opinion.

I think both are great! I can relate more with Twilight but True Blood is like Twilight with sex. I think it’s stupid to have an argument about which one is better when both are completely different! People are just comparing the two b/c they have one thing in common:vampires. Soon they’ll start comparing Twilight and True Blood to Buffy and Blade when the truth is none of them have anything in common.

ALL I half to say is….I’m 22 and Im a Twilight and Trueblood fan. I love adult and Young Adult books for very diffrent reasons. I love stepehen moyer and Robert pattinson and Alexander. I think they are all so hott!!! I love both the books series because I love vampires period. I can’t pic a favorite because I love them all for very diffrent reasons depending on my mood. When I get tired of Edward resisting I jump into no resisting in Dead until dark series. When I am in a more dramatic moood and not as much to laugh I tap into the Twilight or New moon……. So all I half to say I just love it all to much to compare Im a equal fan of both. I do love roberts mean look though sorry cant resist. lol! Just love this time on television and movies its great for any Vampire reader or Vampire movie watcher that loves them.!!!! : ) I love your honesty though……..

You cannot compare True Blood to Twilight. And you can’t compare The Southern Vsmpire Series to Twilight. Twilight is about teenaged angst. How are you gonna compare Edward to Eric and Bill? I mean seriously… Come on.
