Who Should Be True Blood’s Alcide?

sookie-stackhouse-true-bloodMichael Ausiello at EW.com is asking the question who should be cast for the role of Alcide for Season 3 of Alan Ball‘s hit HBO TV vampire series True Blood.  As we have heard from previous spoiler reports Alcide is the young man (who also happens to be a werewolf) who helps Sookie look for Bill.  Here are several of Michael’s suggestions:

Henry Cavill from Tudors

Benjamin Bratt  from The Cleaner

Steven Strait from Stop-Loss and 10,000 BC

Jeffrey Dean Morgan from Grey’s Anatomy

Ben Browder from Farscape and Stargate SG-1

Cam Gigandet from Twilight

I still think that Ryan Reynolds would be good. He’s buff and he’s charismatic. Kellan Lutz would be great for the role too bad hes too busy with the Twilight saga. Cam Gigandet is not tall enough and somehow does not seem right for the part. He’s more believable as a vampire i think. Of course No 1 is saying the actor has to be under 30. RR is about the same age as RK.
Maybe Christian Bale Would be a good choice If he’s available.
Im not really up on tv actors as i dont watch much network tv.

hm, I guess your right. She did reject him. But what he did after the fruggin pack leader fight thing. COMPLETELY douche like. He blaimed her after she tried to help him. Ugh. But yeah, He’s still my fave cause idk, I lurved Quinn, buuut…yeah. idk why i lurve Alcide. he’s just too perfect I guess…

As I am in London, I have to admit I do not know these Actors.

Having read the Books, I feel that Alcide could be played by Langley Kirkwood, from Generation Kill, yes he is another English Actor, but I think perfect for the part.

For Quinn I still pick Vin Diesel, just because of Charlaine’s Book description is him to a “T”

Having said that we do not know what Alan Ball has planned.

    Happy Watching! Its a great show! The first episode is Unbelievable! Perhaps a Brit should play the part of Alcide?
    There are So Many talented Actors who come from UK and OZ.
    Heres a thought Karl Urban? I think He would be great in the role.

      Hi Antonio,

      I have already seen all 24 episodes in the UK. So am exactly where you all are in the States frustrated that we won’t get season 3 until later 2010, boo hoo HBO and Allan Ball.

      Yes I watched it again last night on TV and just as fantastic.

      Who to play Alcide, Quinn, Debbie Pelt goodness only knows!!

Okay. *Sigh*

None of those jokers work For Alcide. maybe, just maybe Steven Strait, buut um, I like the one dude though, who plays dean and sams dad in Supernatural, buuut he’s a biit too old, allthough he didnt look it in Ps. I love you. But anyways, I like the suggestion for the one really buff guy who played in A blade move, and prison break.

And anyways, no white dude would be good for Alcide, as he is olive skin toned. So yeaah, maybe someone else then? and he HAS to have curly black hair, and green eyes, and be very big and muscular. I mean, Alcide isnt Alcide without all those atributes. So pretty much none really gets my vote. And I would like to remind you guys, Alcide is a douche master who gets pissed off at Sook for no reason.

Anywho, yeaaah, so there yas have it, and I hope this helps. At leat any bit.

    Your description of Alcide matches exactly what I said in previous comment and is a must. Having said that Who would ever have picked Anna Paquin as the perfect Sookie (IMO). A charasmatic actor with some of Alcide’s attributes could possibly pull it off – the eyes and size have to be there. As I recall, Alcide did have a reason for being pissed off with Sookie. He laid it out for her why they should be together and was very patient, but ultimately she did reject him as a lover. (Up to Book 7 anyway).

I must admit I’m at a loss here. I don’t know who Any of these book chracters are.I haven’t read the books.Then again,After seeing the Twilight film I was hesitant to read the book as i wanted the film to define my experience of it. When I did read the book,Twilight I found it to be somewhat better than the film.

I have to admit I did not know most of these actors, but checked out Henry Cavill and voted for him. I have a pretty clear image of Alcide’s character and one thing I know he has to be a very big guy. After that black curly hair and green eyes, but light blue would be OK. Let the auditions begin.

HENRY CAVILL for sure. He was the first person who popped into my mind when I thought of Alcide. He’ll be done with Season 4 of the Tudors by then and he is tooooooo sexy for words.

Dominic Purcell from Prison Break would be great as Alcide!! I think he also played a vampire in one of the Blade movies. The book portrays this character as big and muscular and fairly “macho”.

    I think Wentworth Miller from Prison Break would also be a good choice (he was a guest star on Buffy) or Scott Elrod who was in Men in Trees

Here is a thought. Since Both SM and RK are from UK and OZ respectively, How about another british actor for the role. Christian Bale Maybe?? I think that he’d be good.

I think that none of these suggestions would do for Alcide. Because I imagined Alcide being young, tall, very muscular and dark hair as described in Charlaine Harris’ books. So, for my pick I think that Kellan Lutz would make a perfect Alcide. Even though that Kellan is playing a vampire in the Twilight series, he could excellently portray Alcide the werewolf.

    I had considered that as well. However KL will be busy for quite sometime working in the Twilight Saga. he will be very busy with it until at least 2011 I fail to see how He could get the part plus he does a lot of horror movies I thinks hes way too busy to be considered.

I would vote for Henry Cavill.

Cam Gigandet doesn’t really look the part, Ben Browder is too preppy, Steven Strait is too pretty while Benjamin Bratt and Jeffrey Dean Morgan are too old, but JDM would have been perfect a few years ago.

I first thought Steven Strait since I always imagined Alcide looking like he had a little Native American in him. Henry Cavill would also be awesome.
