True Blood Season 2: What Did You Think Of The Season Finale?

true-blood-season-finale-8-newLast night we watched the season finale of True Blood and all I can say is it is going to be a very long 9 months until season 3 returns in the summer.  Some storylines were clarified while new ones developed that will having us speculating developing theories as to what we may see for season 3.  What did you think of the finale?  What were your favorite scene and why?  Was it the dance and proposal scene with Bill and Sookie?  Who do you think kidnapped Bill?  What did you think of the whole Maryann scene?

The season finale also brought up a series of questions that may or may not get answered in season 3?  Some the pop into my my mind are: How did the Queen know Sookie is more then human?  Did Bill seem surprised when Sookie stated she didn’t believe she was human as well?  Now that Sam drank alot of Bill blood, what will that do to Sam?  Who kidnapped Bill? Eric, Lorena or maybe someone else?

Please join us in our forum where you can post you comments and join in discussions with fellow True Blood fans to ponder these questions and speculate on season 3.

Please remember keep references to what is happening on True Blood and not what was in the books.  We want to have a discussion about the events that have happened up to now in the series.  Also please be cordial and no bashing of any of the characters, otherwise your comment will be deleted.  We want provide a positive environment where people can express their feelings about the events without feeling the characters will be bashed. I Say Let Sookie CHOOSE For HERSELF! Only if some1 is cognisant of Free Will can they make a true choice for themselves! Bill Is her First She must see what else is out there for her. Maybe some1 else could love her More??
Perhaps Eric? Alcide? Quinn? maybe??
Besides she needs to grow up!! Bill kowtows to her! She knows better than to try that poutty shit with Eric!!

vampbill

Loving bill!!! him and sookie should stay together…hopeless roamntic! they have gone thru so much they need to stay together and Eric needs his own human and let sookie be!…true blood true love!

Mrs. Compton

You are correct and I do apologize. I would rather discuss the show and not continue to go back and forth with this argument and whatever you may call it; I am just not a fan of Eric….so a fan of Bill-actually obsessed

cgpunker

I could be wrong, but I don’t believe the issue is just about criticizing a character. I too think you should be able to do so, since as you mention, these people are fictional. Valid, thoughtful criticism/discussion is, in my book, what forums like these are about. But again, that’s my opinion, others may agree.

I believe, at least in my case, the issue is with the term “jealous fag” and the tone. That’s not valid criticism, that’s inflammatory language.
Just my $.02

Mrs. Compton

wow i apologize, didn’t realize I was offending anyone personally; all in all “Eric” is a fictional character. I promise to refrain from speaking negatively about the characters but I thought this site was for us to speak our mind about the show and give our owb opinions.

Hi Court,

We do appreciate hearing people’s feelings, thoughts and speculations however we want it done in a civil manner and do not allow derogatory names-calling of the actors or characters. I know both sides get very passionate about the show which is great because it is such a fantastic show, we want people to feel safe and comfortable here without feeling that they are going to get bashed or the actors or characters will as well. I have seen so much of it on other sites and I find it very disheartening and a little shocked that site would allow such things to be published. Personally I would not have those comments removed they as unnecessary and unproductive.

TruEricFan

well said cgpunker

cgpunker

“jealous fag”? Uncool.
Be pro Bill, pro Sam pro anyone you want, but lets leave the crap out of the forum.

Mrs. Compton

GOD do I LOVE BILLLL

Court

I think season 3 is going to based on a love triangle..Sookie, Bill, and Eric!! Even though all we have witnessed is Sookie’s hatred for Eric, his blood being in her will change that; she may not have a choice. I just would like to know WHY WHY WHY Eric is all over Sookie, whats the reason for his obsession with her? Have you read the books, because even though they are a bit different from the show, Eric and Sookie do become involved :-[

Court

uncool and super rude about???

Cgpunker

Uncool and super rude.

Lizzie 1701

Totally agree that Eric should get his own human and lay off Bill and Sookie. Honestly, everyone is speculating that Sookie will run into Erics arms, but we have only seen her total hatred of him for the things he has done not only to her, Bill, Lay etc and she knows he tricked her into bullet sucking – why would she run to him? Does not make sense!

Court

I thought the Queen did a horrible job-she should be more mysterious and eerie like maryann (even though i totally hated her). Eric, that jealous vamp stole my Bill and I have been destroyed over it. Eric is hot but needs to get off Sookie’s and find his own human…let Sookie & Bill be..damn!!

TruEricFan

I read the Twilight Saga before the Southern Vampire series, and honestly didn’t think you could get more controlling than Edward, but I agree…Bill takes the cake on that one!

antonio

I think theres something to that. Remember in 1 of the Twilight books Bella says “Am I the Only one who’s going to grow old and die?!” She was with Jacob at the time I think. Bella considered what her life would be with Jake…She even had a daydream or was it a vision in which she saw herself as his wife with 2 little kids running around. Here’s the thing Edward catches Bella and Jacob making out its awkward but he remains silent
He realizes that Bella must choose and he respects that. It would hurt him a great deal to lose her But he wants her to be happy even if it means losing her to Jake!
When Bill caught Sookie kissing Sam He went ballistic! He looked as though he wanted to rip Sam apart! All He would say as in season 2 “Ah-m not sarry fo what you awakened in may” Sookie, Ah luv ya” I guess He is more possesive and controlling than EC.

TruEricFan

I know we aren’t supposed to talk about the books, but it’s explained in one of them (I read too fast to pay attention to which book lol) that if you have too much vamp blood from a vamp (not V juice) you will turn, at least that’s what I got from it…I may have to read the series again just to find it…Plus didn’t Eric say to Bill “you almost overcooked her” after Bill gave her blood after the Maenad attack? I think you’re right that it could possibly happen without him ever trying.

In Twilight I was all for Edward until New Moon (of course), simply because I like vampires lol. I liked Jacob in the whole series and truly wish she would have chosen him, she had to give up far too much, but on the same page, Jacob won’t age as long as he’s shifting, and Bella will continue. At least with Edward changing her, she has the opportunity to be with a man her physical age forever.

I definitely think Sookie is more than human. I know what she is in the books, and am interested and excited to see how Alan plays it out.

antonio

Well spoken!! I’d agree. Vamps Are immortal and have had centuries to work on refing their romantic style and technique.
With Weres and Shifters its more about being “In the moment”
Sort of a now or never thing i guess. This is Not to say that shifters are incapable of deep emotion or desire I believe that They can love just as fiercely, too but Their love is more like mortal love…imperfect and variable. This is Not to say that Sookie could Never be happy with Sam….I believe she could.
Part of the reason WHY I wanted Bella to choose Jacob over vampire Edward was that she could retain her humanity her mortal nature and still be fiercely and deeply in love at the same time!
She would not have to sacrifice her mortal life to join him. Since he was a shifter and Not a were there would be No danger of him turning her. It just doesnt make sense!…At SOME point Bill would have to turn Sookie into the monster that he is!!
He drinks her blood, made her to drink his he feeds off of her
At some point her blood would have to be contaminated by his vampire venom…Don’t you think?? You might say Bill would Never drain her because it would weaken her and she might die
What if in an unguarded moment he did? He’d probably hate himself for doing it not to mention Jason would want to kill him!! Or Maybe Just Maybe SS is something More than vampire or shifter! Something to think about.

antonio

I agree with you 100% Nia! You brought up an interesting point.
In the book Breaking Dawn,It is made clear that vampire blood is deadly to a shifter/were. Reason being that a shifter/were could Never be converted into a full fledged vampire plus vampires are immortal shifters(unless extraodinarily gifted) are not.
Because a shifter could never be turned into a vampire, ingesting Any of the blood would not only be pointless but deadly as such creature would succomb to the poison. On the other hand, Wolf venom usually spread by a werewolf bite would prove deadly to a vampire also. That being said, It will be interesting to see what happens with Sam and Bill. Will Bill’s blood make Sam stronger? more aggrsessive? Now that Both He and Sookie have had
Bill’s blood will he be able to read her mind? keep track of her?? It would be cool to see them become friends. I think the 3 of them are bonded now in a special way.

mlyn

oh hey Deen!!
i forgot the link to vermont from the end of the first season..and the plane tix before Bill proposed! thanks for reminding me!

TruEricFan

If I was a shifter, I don’t think that I would want to be something that’s hunted…like a deer or rabbit…I would much rather be the hunter, live a long healthy life lol. Deer and Rabbit used to be 2 of the main meats we ate when I was a kid. If I could choose I would choose to be a Tiger, it’s my favorite 4 legged non domesticated animal.

Nia

Hey Y’all just as an afterthought. I mentioned this in the Sam thread but forgot to say it here.
Has anyone considered the fact that now that Sam has had alot of Bills blood, Bill will be able to sense Sam!! Interesting angle to play in the future.
I hope these two become real friends eventually. I know it is probably way off, but they would make great allies.
They were both my heroes in this finale. Love them both.
Team Bill and Sam, you rocked!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

antonio

Vampires are cool. The whole thing about vamps is:
They are supposedly great lovers
Insatiable appetites
impassioned about what they want
are faithful pretty much …dont cheat unless they are hungry
“Come with Me and be mine forever” Who can resist a line like that?
Rest all day…Party all night
Very seductive the “lifestyle” the lure
Of course Shifting would be cool too if you could take on the form of mist or fog the form of animals like a deer or rabbit
Weres though prolly the Least appealing unless you like eating people and running around naked…Come think of it Isnt that What Jason Stackhouse did in season 1?? LOL

micaela

between vampires werewolves and shapeshifters I do prefer vampires..well actually a specific vampire: My Bill Compton. and if not available, well..give me Edward Cullen but I prefer a vampire that doesn’t sparkle!LOL

Cgpunker

Why why why are we talking about Twilight? Lol
Very different cannons. Vampires SPARKLE for Petes sake! 🙂

antonio

Now, Bill left Sookie. What was she to think? she did not know if she would Ever see him again. Sam would be better for her because he would not treat her the way Bill does! Sam is warm-blooded and can procreate or sire offspring..Bill Cannot!!
She could have a more stable life with Sam as his wife she could become co-owner of the bar and would always have a job and a place to live…Could Bill offer her as Much??!
Another thing… In Eclipse Edward needs Jacob to keep his beloved Bella warm..they are in a tent in the middle of a forest its winter its very cold and EC Cannot keep her warm!
Jake~~the shifter~~ can keep her warm with his raised body temperature. He holds her and gets into a sleeping bag with her
he even kisses her so she can get the warmth of his breath.
Edward could only standby and watch as he Could Not do this for her!!
Makes me think…How could Bill be ANY real help to Sookie??
In Sam’s arms she could be warm and cozy and feel the warmth of his body his heartbeat. What could Bill offer her really? Besides “Soo-keh ah luv ya!”
Sam is a decent hard-working man who loves her She could do much worse!!

antonio

Here is something to think about. In the Twilight book New Moon in the film, too i’m sure..Bella gravitates toward Jacob Black partially because they are great friends and they can relax and just relate to one another. When she fell for Edward Cullen~~the bloodsucker~~ it was instantanious like a train wreck she fell hard and was entranced by him. Bella fell for Jacob over a period of time. Her love for him grew slowly as they got to know each other. In NM Jacob says to Bella “I know what he did to you,Bella I would Never hurt you like that!” EC left her just completely left her (if youve read the book you know why)
Bill “left” Sookie to be reprimanded for killing one of his own kind (where he “made” Jessica) and then when Sookie thought he died.

antonio

This is really cool! I like talking about stuff like this.
First let explain something There Is a difference between a Werewolf and a Shapeshifter. Something to keep in mind: All werewolves are shapeshifters…Not All shapeshifters are werewolves! The werewolf is a “made” creature meaning someone or were had to turn or make him what he became.Someone infected him with the deadly virus (wolf venom) usually through a bite or scratch. Weres have No choice but to morph when the moon is full.
They have NO powers other then brute strength..they are like animals.
Shifters,on the other hand are different. Shifters are NOT Made they ARE Born. They aquired the shapeshifting or phasing skill over time and have learned to perfect it. It is seen as a gift.
Usually, shifters have other shifters in their family or circle
and they aquire these skills from them either by instruction or observance. In the Twilight book Eclipse this is all explained.

CGal

I think Eric or the queen kidnapped Bill…considering she was annoyed that he knew she had Eric/LaFayette selling V.

I was glad the Maenad story line ended…it lasted a little too long for me and I was sick of it.

I’m gonna miss looking at Eggs…that man is fine!

val

Not enough Eric!!! HOPE lots more in season #3-I heard he got a GREAT raise,so maybe thats a good sign?!>

jOSEPHINA

a bit disappointed…never read the books so as far as the finale… FIRST OFF not enough Eric! SECOND…not enough Eric …third… ummm not enough Eric Seriously though the best part was :
Marianne : “it could be our little secret …so what are you”?

Sookie: “I’m a waitress what the f*ck are you”?

GOTTA LOVE SOOKIE!
the queEN IS REALLY RETARDED..SHE GOTZ TO GO

Nia

Thats true TruEricFan, The idea of being with someone who doesn’t age is great for a while, but when you hit your 50’s and beyond…..well like you said, robbing the cradle, feeling old and insecure.
That was probably one of the biggest reasons Sookie was hesitant to say yes to Bill’s proposal. Even though he said it did not matter, and I really believe he meant it (god, so love him for that). True love should be timeless, and I believe that is what he feels for Sookie. Anyways, since we really do not know what Sookie truly is, who’s to say she is not immortal or at least lives longer than a normal human. Time and more (hopefully many more) seasons will tell.

TruEricFan

I LOVE vampires, but if I had to choose to be with either a vampire or a were, I would choose the were because they are more human…most Vamps are in their lets say 30’s when they are turned, and don’t age. I don’t want to be 75 years old and appear to be ‘robbing the cradle’ with a man that looks like my grandson. Plus, I would want more children, and I couldn’t get that from a vampire.

micaela

to me Vampires have more appeal than shifters and weres because Vampires are supposed to have a long long experience of life as they’re immortal. they are old fashion-mannered and that’s fascinating! weres instead are more connected to animal insticts so more similar to human beings therefore less mysterious and more common…

TruEricFan

I agree it is interesting that the weres always come in second. My feeling from the books is, every vampire did her dirty in one way or another, and the only ones that don’t are the weres, yet she continiously chooses the vampires…I don’t get that, and the one I want her to get with did everything right (at least I would want my man to do what he did if the need arose) and she kicked him to the curb because of it.

People choosing vampires over weres could be because Vampires started human and stay that way, at least with a human body. Weres turn into animals, and I can totally see how someone can be put off by that. I personally don’t care either way, as long as they don’t go furry at inopportune times.

(another book series mentioned here) Anita Blake has the best of both worlds with many vampire and were lovers, and she is head over heels in love with 2 weres and 2 vampires.

Nia

Hey Lynn, part of the vamps appeal over shifters or weres may be because vamps are supposedly great lovers(glamouring may have something to do with it also), and are immortal. Otherwise the idea of only being able to be with them at night and the dangers of the sun may be a big turnoff.
The pros to shifters and weres is that they are warm blooded, and can procreate. I am not sure about their logevity though. The con about them is beware the full moon!!

Lynn

Interesting how the Vamp gets the girl instead of the Were, in both stories. I don’t think it was on purpose that both are like that, just an interesting parallel.

Why do girls like Vamps more than the Weres, anyway? I would love to know why myself, and it appears quite a few others would take a vamp over a shifter.

antonio

Yes there are similarities between True Blood and Twilight saga.
What I meant to say was Jacob Black choosing a family of vampires over his Own tribe was unusual to say the least.
My point is people do crazy things for love all the time!!
Just like Bill Compton coming out into the daylight and burning up to try to save Sookie from the serial killer..Incredible!
And yes, there were others who followed Jake when he defected 2 others Lea Clearwater the Only female of the pack and her younger brother Seth. Lea couldnt stand Bella she was envious of her and I think she wanted Jake for herself. She was indifferent.
Seth cared some i guess. The fact is Jake chose against his pack/tribe for a girl…one who had already chosen a bloodsucker over him!! Well this was point even in the world of vampires and werewolves Love is still a gamble.

TruEricFan

Antonio, you almost sound anti-vampire! True Blood is basically the adult version of Twilight. There’s a lot of similarities, yes, but I don’t know what version of Twilight Saga you read, or if you did read it, because when Jake chose the Cullens over his tribe, he was followed by others that felt killing Bella was wrong, then once he imprinted…anyways, it didn’t happen the way you say, but I won’t go further into it.

I am a huge fan of the books, and hope Alan keeps true to certain parts of the story, especially where Eric and Jason are concerned. I LOVE Eric, but I REALLY want Sookie to end up with a certain character that hasn’t been introduced into the series as of yet…he’s going to be introduced in season 3, if Alan follows that story line, and I just hope he’s as yummy as described in the books!

antonio

In my opinion the best person for Sookie would Be Sam…NOT Eric….NOT Bill. Now who would be good for Jason? Any ideas??
Maybe if Jessica Hamby meets and gets to be with Jason and then bites him like Bill feeds of Sookie maybe That would be cool! huh? Of course, season 3 will be full of werewolves maybe 1 might attack Jason and he might become one…like he needs another excuse to walk around naked?? LOL Perhaps 1 of the weres will win sookies heart??

antonio

Excuse me for mentioning another franchise here but your comments regarding Bill and Sam sound kind of similar to Twilight. In the TL books, Both Edward Cullen and Jacob Black are fiercely and passionately devoted to Bella Swan…either one would risk his life or un-life in the case of EC to protect her.
In fact, in Breaking Dawn JB chooses the Cullen family of vampires Over his Own wolfpack of brethren. He is branded a traitor and a coward by the pack and the tribe…but his deep devotion and love for her blinded him..i suppose.
He sides with the vampires in both Eclipse and Breaking Dawn in the standoff against the Volturi questions?? read the books kind of hard to explain here!…LOL
The difference between JB and Sam Merlotte is that Jacob is a Were-Shifter meaning he can Only phase into a wolf. Sam is a Shapeshifter meaning he can shift into almost anything has imprinted on. Its obvious that All 4 of these guys love their galpal! LOL I think Sookie would be better off with Sam just like i think Bella would have been better off with Jacob.

Nia

I am so glad that all the “talk”, or anything else, will not influence Alan’s vision for the show. I have been enjoying all the changes he has made (from the books) and where the show is going. He has made it his own as it should be. I am behind Alan 100% and will continue be do so no matter where he decides to take the story.
I have always felt it is the best adult entertainment on tv.

Nia

Hi Jaxx, you are right, you really cannot argue with that. Sam and Bill are not much different though, when it comes to loving Sookie. They would both love her fiercely and loyaly. In the scheme of things Sam would be the logical choice. But when has love ever been logical? It will be interesting to see where the seasons eventually lead them all.

AdoreBill

Hi BLF,

I think a great place to discuss all the speculations would be in our forum.

Based on the interviews Alan just recently did he said “I don’t want it to influence what the show is.” Meaning outside influences whether Sookie/Eric fans, Sookie/Bill fans or Stephen and Anna relationship will not effect what the show is about, which if we look back at season 1 interviews is a show based of the fear of intimacy and other themes. I am glad he is following through with his visions of the show and I agree with them and look forward to watching them unfold. Having fun at guessing what parts he will use is fun but remember to keep it fun and not get frustrated because as we have seen the parts may be similar but the characters, actions and/or reasons may be different to maintain with the themes Alan is following. I am enjoying Alan’s adaptation tremendously and I am happy to read that most are enjoying the show and the themes Alan is presenting and not dwelling too much on why it is not the same as the books.

Jaxx

I have to agree with you here Nia. Sam is great. He’s loved Sookie before any of this vamp stuff happened. I would not be the least bit upset is in the very end, Sam and Sookie end up together. They could grow old together and have a family. How can you argue with that???

Jaxx

I couldn’t agree with you more. 🙂

Jaxx

Antonio, if you read the Ausiello post mortum interview with Alan Ball, he says there is a reason Eric was not present to help out Bill, Sookie, Sam, etc. and it will be revealed in Season 3. If Eric is portrayed correctly, you WILL start to see what all of us Eric lovers are talking about.

I do also love Sam. I would also be happy is Sookie ends up with him.

Jaxx

I’m guessing whoever abducted him might have been in the restaurant already, maybe a were hired by Eric, Lorena posing as waitress/busboy??? Whoever it was wore heavy gloves. To me that means someone who couldn’t touch silver, like another vamp or were. hmmm, just have to wait and see.

Jaxx

Me too, Lee, you cannot read the books and not want to see what you read. I agree 100%.

Nia

Oh, and by the way, I would love to use that man as a scrunchie too!

Nia

Boy, I am glad I am not the only one to have noticed Sam’s classical Greek statue pose. He is beautiful also. We tend not to talk as much about Sam, but he does deserve just as much discussion time.
Sam did the ultimate sacrifice and may have died. He also put his life into the hands of someone he has been at odds with since the beginning. Great touch to the story. I have always hoped that Bill and Sam would become friends. They seem to be on that path albeit its a shaky path. But its a beginning.
Season 3 seems so far away!!!!

Nia

Hi Brittany, I really think there will be so much more developement to Erics character, just be patient. I know that is easier said than done. We started to see that with the Godric story. But it will take time. We know Eric as an authority figure, an old vampire who is used to getting his way, and a bit of a player and bad boy. But that is what makes his character so much fun. I would hate to see him lose that. But there is more to him than meets the eye (and he meets the eye well!). I do not see him turning into a “Bill”. The Bill who wants to be human again and try to live a normal life. That would just take away from Erics charm and just wouldn’t fit him. I do see him changing somewhat because of his desire for Sookie. Where exactly this will all go I have no idea but it will be fun to watch. This is just an opinion of someone who loves this show and all the characters and actors involved.
Waiting for season 3 will be H, E, double hockey sticks!!!!!

Jaxx

Brittany, I agree. I am willing to try to be more patient and wait it out. Eric is definitely worth the wait. And, yes, I am an Eric fan all the way.

Brittany

This is where I have to say that AB has missed his mark, because we should have at least started to see that Eric isn’t that simple. I love that AB makes Bill more made him more lovable and has given him more range, but it seems to be at the cost of Eric’s depth. AB still has time. It sounds by the way he talks in his interviews that he’s just pushing Eric’s development back until a later date. Can’t wait. If they push his character in the direction CH has set up for us, it will be worth the wait to see.

Jaxx

cp, I agree with you. That’s what I said earlier, good v. bad. Remember Bill was married before, Eric was not. Being a viking and being at war all the time, I don’t think he really had time for a wife and kids. Remember, he said he really doesn’t know what love is, when Sookie said he loved Godric. He’s not sure himself why he feels what he does for Sookie or how to handle it. That’s why I think he says he doesn’t love humans. He’s learning himself what love is. Doesn’t mean he doesn’t feel anything for her, just not sure what that is right now.

Jaxx

Nia, I didn’t mean Alan Ball was portraying Stephen and Ana, that would be silly. I just meant that their personal relationship and love seems to be seeping into the show, unconsciously. I’m happy for them and you can tell they are really in love and that’s great, but I just think it is inadvertently oozing into the show whether they want it to or not. I felt I was watching S/A not B/S. It’s not negativity, just an observation.

Bill being kidnapped in leading into Season 3. I know it cannot be verbatim of the books, I just want the heart of the story told. How AB portrays it, we’ll have to see. There are a lot of new characters coming in Season 3 and new situations and I just hope he can incorporate them. No matter what, I will watch. It would just be nice to see what I’ve read translate to the screen. I just don’t like the fact that Bill is mostly the hero and Eric is mostly the bad guy. Hopefully, in Season 3 and 4, things will change and we will see more and more of Eric’s good or this will become dull and monotonous. Bill and Eric both have good and bad in them. We need to see a little more of Eric’s good side and Bill’s bad side. We need to mix things up with Alcide and Eric as love interests.

BLF

I see we are still a passionate bunch here 🙂

Ive watched the finale a few times now and think they tied down the story linesthe story lines that they needed to… those that should not flow over to the next season.

Yes,I thought the finale was great. I got my warm fuzzy feelings, I got my cliffhanger. I’ve got y’all to discuss TB with over the hiatus. (though someone had a good idea that HBO should start showing Seasons 1 and 2 until 3 is ready to be aired).

This was the episode of SAM!!! From him we got most of our emotional punches this finale. Kudos to him!!! Plus we get that classical greek statue type pose from him as soon as Maryann went caput. (anyone else see that?)

Yes, I was disapointed we did not see more of Eric in the finale… but from the AB interviews yesterday, we know the story arc is not done. To those who have read the books, we need to remember that Eric does not start to emmerge as a main character until Book 3 and is established in Book 4. So i am happy with what I have seen so far.

As a book reader, i do have a gist of what might happen and it is unfair of us to post about it here on this type of article.

Ollie, do you think we could have a new article chalenging us to figure out what is going to happen Season 3? I think AB made it pretty clear that they use the books as source material to find what is truely important and should be used in the show. It would be great for the book readers to see if we can pinpoint the same moments as the writers do. It would sort of be like the EW challenge for writing our own Episode, but ours would be pick the moments from the book. i dont know how it would work but it would be fun. hehehe

micaela

we’ll see…actually I’m a faithfull girl so I doubt I would change my mind on Bill but maybe I will redefine my image of Eric

Jaxx

Oops, I meant Eric shines in future books, my typo.

Jaxx

michela, once you read all the books, you may understand where the Eric fans are coming from. In book 5 there is another secret of Bills and Eric shins in future books.

Nia

I so agree micaela!!!!!

TruEricFan

I thought it was good. Not my favorite, not my least favorite. I actually cheered when Maryann was FINALLY killed off…I really hope (yet doubt) we have seen the last of her. I am also interested to know what happened to Bill.

Charlaine looked great, I wonder if we’ll see more of her in Bon Temps.

Nia

I am sorry too cjpunker, that you thought I was being negative when I only try to right an injustice, as what happens unfortunately too often. I have this whipcord that tends to flash out and sting when I see negtivity towards Alan B. and/or the actors/characters. I will do my best to keep it in check.
Perhaps delusional was to strong. Maybe I should have said not seeing clearly. I just want harmony, but in this, perhaps I am being delusional.
So I will bury the hatchet and hopefully so will you (just not in each others heads, LOL), and we will happily agree to disagree.
I am a huge fan of True Blood and will always be so. I hope you can say the same!
Team True Blood

micaela

actually I’m reading the books, I’m on book 4 and I still like Bill character even in books although his dark sides. Eric is quite predictable instead and that’s quite disappointing. but maybe in future books I will change my mind about him. the show we know is different so who knows what will happen

Nia

Unfortunarely and as much as I do not agree, things sometimes need to be simplified for those who may not get it.
The fact that Bill is trying to be “good” and regain his humanity and has a dark side is what makes his character so deep. Calling him names like a charicature or shmoopy is just isn’t right. This is the negativity I have been talking about. Many times it becomes a reflection onthe actors themselves. Can we not discuss the story and characters without the name calling.
Eric is a terrific character and has layers as well. He has just been bad for a much longer time than Bill. I loved the episode with Godric and seeing the vulnerable and loving side of Eric. Too bad it didn’t seem to last. With hopefully at least 5 seasons left who knows how it will play out.
I am giving True Blood the chance it deserves. I just wish those that say have said they will not watch anymore because it does not conform to the books, will do the same. It has only been 2 seasons. In the books, and I dislike bringing up the books because this is the show, Bill is prominant. Who knows what next season will bring. I am a true fan and will enjoy the show no matter what Alan Ball does. I wish all fans could say the same.

TR

I think most of season 2 was a huge disappontment.
The Maryann storyline got very old and tedious and
I felt as if each episode was more of the same from the previous week.
I hope that season 3 turns out better. However I did enjoy the
Eric and church story but Maryann and her obnoxious posession over the town
Were too over the top.

JANE

i loved the finale ! goodbye maryann, finally. and bill is the one who thought of the plan, and convinced sam to help. great that they worked together. the romantic night bill arranged for sookie was wonderful. bill is classy, graceful, and beautiful ! his broken hearted look, after sookie didn’t say yes, was wrenching. true blood is my one true addiction. it is the most original, exciting, and fun show i’ve seen. and i am a real bill fan. i’ve read all the books. and he’s different in the show, but i love him in both. the whole cast is just perfect, and a joy to watch !

Brittany

Without giving anything away if you haven’t read the books, not to say the AB will stick to the plot, but Eric is supposed to be a complex character that slowly unravels over time. Remember that Bill constantly reminds Sookie that he isn’t human and that sometimes his instinct is just to act like a vampire. In the scope of things Bill is a fairly young vampire compared to Eric. Erics spent centuries becoming the way he is now. At his core, he really isn’t just a “bad boy” and we will probably start to see that if AB continues in the same general direction.

cgpunker

Nia – I’m sorry, but your response is the most negative thing I’ve seen on this board in this discussion.

I am not delusional – but I do think that was a wink and a nod. And I’m not the only one who’s worried about their real life relationship screwing up the show. It happens. I hope it doesn’t – after all they are all pros.

How about when people like or dislike something onscreen we don’t *assume* it’s because of the books unless they say so?

I really like most of the differences between the books and the show. The diversions from the books are some of the greatest points of the show (I for one would never ever give up Jess or Lafayette!) The only thing I don’t like is the oversimplification of some great characters. Frankly, I wouldn’t like the simple versions if the books DIDN’T exist. It’s just not my preference. I like strong women and complicated characters. You may disagree. Tomato/Tomahto.

There are alot of great comments on this board on a lot of different opinions. To simply dismiss them as whining is rude.

micaela

I’m with u Nia, I love Bill character because he’s multilayered, a full portrait of a vampire that once was a human and that has found his “human miracle”, Sookie, who awakened feelings he didn’t remember to have! Eric is funny but far more simple and as a bad boy quite predictable. real villans are different! All actors are great however in playing their characters!

cgpunker

Both Bill & Eric are under the Queens control in her presence. Bill spent plenty of time just sitting around – you just saw more screen time.

THIS is the problem with the writing on the show right now –
“One is good, the other bad. Ying and Yang.”

Neither is all good. Neither is all bad. They are just different people with different approaches – Eric’s a killer. So is Bill. Bill has some humanity left – so does Eric. Simplifying them to good v. evil is bad writing or bad interpretation.

Nia

But Bill was constantly asking to leave to go help Sookie!!!!!He was going to take off even without the queens permission and information on how to defeat the maenad. How quickly we forget.
Wasn’t it Eric who said “I do not love Humans”. If he does care for Sookie, why does he not grow a pair of balls and tell the queen that he wants her??? And when Sookie was screaming and in trouble, why did not Eric insist he go to her rescue??? He can fly! Nice to see Eric subserviant for a change. Now he knows how
Bill feels!
I hate doing this. But when I see such sad and pathetic posts about these great characters, I can’t help myself but respond. I love Bill and Eric. They are both teriffic characters and have their respective roles to play on the show. One is good, the other bad. Ying and Yang. That is drama. There is so much yet to come. Eric may still prevail, and win Sookie for a while. The triangle is inevitable. Just let the show play out and enjoy it. I can’t imagine a world anymore without True Blood!!!!

Nia

With you all the way Lizzy! The Bill bashing is horrible. Its one way for some to play out their frustrations when the show doesn’t exactly go their way.
Bill is a wonderful character and contrary to what others may say, DEEP. He is not a caricature, and for godrics sake, why pick on his clothes??? That is so funny its sad (little quote from Lorena). It was mentioned by someone that Bill was supposed to be “good” after Lorena. Its foolish to think that he could just switch off 60 years of Lorenas conditioning. I applaud his character for wanting to be different. Now consider that he is probably the only vampire (in the 1930s)who feels that way. How do you survive? Bill had a long way to go and probably not any support to get there. He is still on that path.
As for Bill being in love with Sookie only after he drank her blood, I believe that some may have to go and rewatch episode 1 and 2 of season 1. He may have gone into Merlottes to find Sookie (we do not know for sure till the SHOW story plays out), but became enthralled with her right away. Same with Sookie. She was drawn to him. They had a connection from the beginning.
Sookie dreamed about Bill BEFORE she drank his blood. She started dreaming about Eric only after she was RRICKED into drinking his blood. Many seem to overlook this fact.
OK, enough, lets just all enjoy the best entertainment on tv and give Alan B. and the ENTIRE cast our support and admiration for giving us this great show.
Team True Blood!

Lynn

cgpunker, you had me laughing SO hard!! SO TRUE! I think tv Bill and tv Eric leave much to be desired.

Nia

Alan Ball would not play out Anna’s and Stephens real life on screen. That is delusional. There are those who are just looking for an excuse for the show not going exactly where you want it to go. Alan is way to experienced and a professional to allow that to influence his decisions in any way. Alan saw the chemistry between those two from the beginning and is playing that angle. This story is probably completely written out to 7 seasons already.
We all have our favorites, and unfortunately the book lovers will always be at odds with the show any time it diverts from the books. The thing is, how exactly should the show follow the books? Where do you draw the line? There will always be those who will whine and complain when they do not get their way. Can’t we just enjoy the show and not constantly compare it to the books? I read all the books a year ago and I love the changes Alann has made. I salute him for making this show his own. Even the actors agree (this was said by Alex S.) that the show should be different.
I for one am so grateful to Alan Ball and HBO for taking on this project. Without them it may never have been brought to life.
Be thankful we have this show at all and please stop all the negativity!!!

micaela

my favourite love story is in Out of Africa, Karen Blixen and Denys Finch Hatton! sooooo romantic even if very sad (he dies after just a few months they finally get together). he was a romantic and charming gentleman!so…maybe that’s why I love Bill…he reminds me of that kind of absolute old fashioned love!:)

Nia

More than likely Bill had thoughts full of Sookie and did not focus on what was sneaking up on him. Such a lover, takes my breath away!

cgpunker

I have cats. More of an equal playing ground kind of love. Maybe that’s it? LOL

What was the first fictional couple that really had you? Books or tv? I have a theory that couple sets our course for fictional couples forever.

My first, and still favorite, love story was Wuthering Heights. The good girl and the dark brooding anti hero. The one you have to fight for and against. My tastes always run this way! 🙂

micaela

I already have 2 dogs actually! so I’ll take Bill, thanks.

cgpunker

LOL If I wanted Bill schmoopy, I’d get a dog. I’m just not into clingy needy. Never have been.

micaela

if Bill is Schmoopy…well I’d love my boyfriend to be Schmoopy too!!!!LOL

cgpunker

Oh, that’s it! I’m totally replying to myself, but I think I just solved the mystery.

It’s her blood! That’s why Bill lost his edge and became her love slave! Bill’s in Bon Temps to woo her & bonds her to him with his blood. He doesn’t know that her blood will tie him to her equally. It’s since that ep that Bill has started this free fall into schmoopy. Wow, I bet I’m one of the last people to figure this out. LOL

So, Eric & Sam love her without the blood tie…interesting….
Maybe I will come back for S3. Maybe I DID misjudge Alan Ball!

micaela

LOL! I just think that this show is really awesome because it portrays so many aspects of life, and it is loved by many different fans for that reason. each one of us finds something passionate and interesting in it and its various characters.I never noticed before such a deep and real interest in a show!I’m passionate in Bill and sookie lovestory and I’m craving to see what’s next!

cgpunker

What is Bill & Sookie’s love exactly? We’ve heard from the Queen that her blood – her “otherness” will cause a vampire to fall in love. And we know that Sookie had 24 hours of like before she started guzzling his blood and creating a blood bond. Is it real? We don’t know! They haven’t given us any reason to think its any more than desperate infatuation. There’s no there there. Just schmoopy puppy dog.

I want more dammit! lol I was all into Bill & Sookie before they took the interesting stuff out of it. Life is complicated, and love is too.

micaela

@cgpunker: I do not agree, to be in love doesn’t mean to become infatuated or a caricature! I just think he(Bill) became more sure of his feeling for Sookie as she showed up her love for him, that’s all. I still like his character and his development very much. and I still think that Alan Ball will develop all Bon Temps intrigues around Bill and Sookie love story, of course not alway a happy one otherwise there would not be anything to be thrilled for.

cgpunker

I liked the opposition of Bill & Eric in S1 when Bill wasn’t a caricature. He used to be cool – the man had an agenda and internal struggles. He didn’t hate himself and he even had cooler clothes. Then they introduced Eric and he became almost childlike in his infatuation with Sookie. I for one don’t think they needed to make Bill bland to give him opposition to Eric. They were different all on their own. Different – but still interesting.

I do kind of hope they do the amnesia in S4. Skarsgard will act the sh*t out of it.

micaela

on the other hand I think that Eric character, especially in book 4 is quite disappointing and boring! He’s supposed to be a very bad guy and suddenly he becomes innocent as a child, so romantic and all! I hope the show won’t portrait him like this in future. I like the opposition between bad boy vampire eric and good one Bill(my favourite!), no matter what the books say.

cgpunker

Jaxx, I did feel like the engagement was about Stephen & Anna and not Bill & Sookie. I hope they don’t ruin this.

cgpunker

My reasons for hating Show!Bill are purely based on the show. Actually, Show!Bill makes me like Book!Bill better. Book!Bill had a life, character, job and balls. He did some crap things to Sookie, but he was a man and owned up to them and took his medicine. He also didn’t apologize for being a vampire.

Show!Bill has this hypocritical self hating human thing going on – hypocritical of course because Bill can be a violent vampire whenever he wants as long as it’s for Sookie then it doesn’t count. Um, I thought he got all good after Lorena? Can anyone explain Diane & friends? Doesn’t this guy have anything to do but yowl “SUCKEH IS MIIIINE” all night? Thank god he’s a vampire or Sookie would have him nipping at her heels all day.

cgpunker

Curious Antonio – Did you feel the same way about Bill when *he* was being detained by the Queen? Or just Eric?

antonio

This show is just great tv!! The season finale was Incredible!
Alan Ball and the writers and producers really have a winner here! I thought the Sopranos was a hot property but this buries it! Now, I find myself thinking of TB a lot!! I thought that Twilight was ultra cool~~part of it is~~ But now everything else just leaves me Cold!! I find that TB has become “my own personal brand of heroin” to borrow from Edward Cullen. I crave more and more! The show is just awesome!! Is there any treatment for TB
addiction? Would we Want one?? LOL 1 last thing in June of next year True Blood will face off against Twilight Eclipse (my fave TL book BTW) AS far as im concerned again TB Wins hands Down!! Thanks to everyone involved for a great season! This website is Awesome!! it feeds my TB fix!! Wonder when season 2 will be on dvd??

Lizzie 1701

Completely agree! BY having the show “Eric” would make him one dimensional as someone has already written that Bill is. Plus by saying that Sookie and Bill have only known each other a short time, then why do the Eric followers want her to go move onto Eric? Do they want Sookie with Eric for a short period of time then move on to someone else? That will make her a skank in my eyes. This romance with Bill is so tender and romantic. Let them enjoy each other without throwing others at her.

Constance

Eric can only do what is written in the script…in the books (which this definately is not) it is actually Eric who Sookie asks to accompany her to the sex orgy involving the maenad (Maryann) and it is Eric that saves the day, not Bill….though things weren’t to the extreme they were in the show. The maenad was more of just a mischief maker and lustful for the sex thing in life and chaos. So Eric “sitting on his ass” not caring is just a wee bit different than the books.

Bill and Sam get to be the heroes only because that is the way Alan Ball is writing his screen version of the books. If he followed the books exactly, it wouldn’t be a surprise at all…though I wish he’d follow it more to some degree..ie Eric..

All we get is “GOOD” Bill and “EVIL” Eric…but, I’m still holding out faith that Eric will be redeemed in the coming seasons…because Eric actually helps Sookie find Bill, and actually saves her life…again…as he does on numerous occasions. Eric and Sookie go through more together in the books, than she and Bill ever did…the only thing Bill has on Eric is he was Sookies’ first…as $I said, this is AB’s version and I am enjoying (most of) it. All the actors are wonderful and have done a great job of bringing their characters to life.

Bring on season 3…and hurry! 🙂

Lizzie 1701

To Abby – Totally agree with all your comments! I love this show and I love the Bill and Sookie romance! I wish it could happen to me – I do want me a BILL!! I am also sad that Bill d id not hear Sookie’s YES. It would have made his abduction a bit more bearable knowing Sookie said yes. Now, he will be tormented (yet again!) by being abducted and not know Sookie’s answer. He will certainly feel alone! Poor Bill!

I have printed a copy of the dance scene for me to look at to get me through this TB drought!

micaela

the finale scene with the dancing, the romantic atmosphere and the proposal was just so perfect! I love Bill Compton character and I’m reading the books therefore I know in the book he is different but I still like him very much! And Sookie should have said YES without thinking about it!then Anna and Stephen are awesome actors!I already miss the show…

Lizzie 1701

Totally agree with you Nia. I love the Bill and Sookie romance as well! I am so sorry that Bill did not hear Sookie say yes! It would have given him hope whilst abducted!

I cannot understand the hatred for Bill and the bashing that goes on. This is not Book Bill and guess what! I read the books and like AB, felt there was more behind Bill that was not fully developed in the books by CH. I think he is misunderstood, like Book Eric is, as CH said in one of her interviews, that she thinks readers have read Eric wrong.

Anyhow, can’t we just like who we like without others going for our jugular and giving book reasons to hate that character?

Just enjoy the show!!!

Abby

I really enjoyed the finale. I was happy it tied up some ofthe stories. Maryanne is GONE! (Michelle was a great actress but the storyline was getting old)

Seeing Sam this season justs solidifies my belief he is one of the good guys through and through.

My heart was torn over Eggs’ devastation and desperation.

The real gutrenching, smash my heart moment, Sookie not getting back in time to tell Bill yes. I loved the dancing, the proposal. Bill has shown his true love for Sookie over and over and Sookie has returned his love. Obviously I am a HUGE fan of Bill and Sookie. I do not believe (this is strictly the show) Bill ever intended to tie Sookie to him with his blood, he did so when she was dying. I believe when Sookie saw Bill and Bill saw Sookie you could see the sparks fly and it began their love and interest in eachother quickly. Bill, well I guess I wish I had a man who loves me and is devoted to me and respects me as Bill does for Sookie.

Eric seems to be under the queen’s thumb. Her interaction with Eric to me seemed to imply Bill was not as involved with the queen as Eric is…I look forward to seeing how this plays out. My favorite part is when Eric rolls the dice and the queen says “you suck at this” 😉

I love Evan Rachelle Wood as the queen, she is doing a very good job and I look forward to seeing what she does next season, even if it is just for a few episodes.

One of my most favorite moments, it rates up there with the dancing and proposal scenes, Bill holding Sookie. It melted my heart.

I am so in love with this show, its my escape from my life and I have found myself completely entertwined with the characters. Especially Bill and Sookie. I can’t get over how devastated I am over not seeing Bill’s joy when Sookie said yes.

The show implicates several suspects for the kidnapping of Bill. Eric told the queen he would take care of Bill personally, so he’s one. Lorena’s vieled threat when she last spoke to Bill after Bill told her she was dead to him, and she said “I wish you hadn’t said that” it just screamed threat to me. So did Eric do it? Lorena? or are we to be taken by surpise and blindsided by the real culprit.

Wasn’t it a sweet moment between Jessica and Bill…ruined a bit by Jessica becoming a “man eater.” Poor Hoyt too.

Season three shall be interesting, werewolves, Debbie Pelt, Mississippi King, Bill being held, Eric, Sookie’s search. Sam’s searching for his biological parents….so much and sooooo long to wait…ARGH

Thank you to all who created this site, keep it up by providing news, pictures, the ever loved Spoilers, and the opportunity to speak with others who share your love, devotion, and passion with True Blood! My most sincere gratitude.

antonio

No 1 hardly mentions Sam Merlotte. He is 1 of my favorite characters. Maryann was just a big bully..picking on Sam and then Sookie. Both Sam and Sookie have special gifts plus they are compassionate, trusting and loyal. I like Bill too he can be a hot head at times but he cares for Sookie and he wanted to help Sam and Sookie destroy Maryann. I feel that Sam and Sookie would be a good match. Sam has more heart and good natured Eric is a cruel sadistic bad-ass…Why would Any1 choose Eric over Sam?? Sam , Lafayette Terry even Jason are likable. Eric is cool but not very likable. At least Bill has a semi-human side.
I’d probably be team Sam even though Bill kicks butt!
Both Sam and Sookie risked their own lives to help nix Maryann.
I’m glad Bill got involved it seemed Eric didnt give a shit!

antonio

I thought the finale was Awesome! I enjoyed it immensely! It keep me riveted to my seat! I certainly was in No Way disappointed..but then i am a latecomer as just started watching in the early going of season 2. I have not read the books.
It looked like someone or a couple of people were gonna get it!
It looked to me like they were gonna get Sam and Sookie (Maryann seemed to be obsessed with her because she could not control her) I’m glad Bill was involved he helped Sookie and Sam. As for Eric he acted as if he couldnt care less What happened in town!
He feels something and who knows what that is…and yet he was willing to stand idly by and let her be killed by Maryann?
I dont call That love. Well I soppose queen sophie-ann will take up the slack as the bitch now that Maryann is gone Thank Goodness she is! As for all of you who are all for Eric Newsflash!! If it werent for BILL Sookie and Sam would have been killed!!!Bill let Sam drink his blood so he could help destroy Maryann by shifting into her sick delusion. Bill Sam and Sookie helped bring her down!! Eric was NOT involved Dont exert yourself Mr.Northman!!!

Jaxx

Did anyone else feel they were watching Anna and Stephen’s life and engagement as opposed to Bill and Sookie???

I was glad Maryanne was finally destroyed. About time.

I liked Sam finding his real family in Season 3. I think the Jessica story will get interesting. Poor tortured Jason, more adventures for him next year. We will meet Alcide, Hot Shotters, and my favorite nasty girl, Debbie. Also, more weres and vamps in Mississippi. Tara will be another tortured sole.

Anyone could have taken Bill–Eric, Lorena, a were hired by Eric or even Sophie Ann, staff at the restaurant. They had thick gloves on so I’m guessing it’s either a were or vamp since neither of them can touch silver. Maybe Eric called in a favor from the were community??? Hmmm, we’ll just have to see.

I, for one, want the Eric/Sookie relationship to start to unfold and Bill’s secrets coming out in the open. Hopefully AB will go that route.

pam

i was a little disappointed with the finale.it was a little boring at times.and where is vampire bill.hes to mushie and what happen to the love seanes.i think vampires would know when someone is sneaking up on them whats up with that.on the other hand sam and jason are so awsome its about time to see more of them both.i have not read the books but even though it was a little boring i love the show cant wait till season 3!!!

lee

I’m a bit disappointed. I thought it was less of a cliff hanger and slightly more scattered. I mean nothing is fine in Bon Temps, the city folks are confused yet ok w/ that but isn;t the “city” still messed up? Jason shot someone-woah! And the topper on the cake, bil propses and disappears all in the same blink pretty much.
I am glad mary ann is dead and gone. I’m sorry to mention this but I have to say that knowing the possiblities of what could happen (ie book) affect my view of the show. Love them both but somethings i do want to see repeated or ultimate senerios to occur.

Jaxx

That’s all I can say is I don’t know how Bill will be portrayed in Season 3. I DO know how he was portrayed throughout 9 books. And, I KNOW, we’re not talking books here and I don’t know if you’ve read any of them or not, BUT I think you would feel differently if you read them first. Eric is loving, giving, caring, feeling and a lot of other wonderful things that, for some reason unbeknownst to me, this show doesn’t want us to know about. Hopefully, this will all change in Season 3. Hopefully. Bill has a couple real dark secrets and I don’t know if AB will expose them or not, but if he does, I think you would change your mind. Let’s just see what Season 3 brings.

Nia

I am glad the whole Maryanne thing is over. I thought it was overdone. I understand they needed filler but…. We cannot have our favorites on the screen all the time.
I love Bill and Sam teaming up. I always believed they should become friends. At the end of season 1 Sam helped save Bill, now Bill helped save Sam. Two really great guys!
Eric selling vampire blood for the queen? What for? It doesn’t look like she needs the cash. What she needs is a good spanking. Too spoiled for my taste. What could be her motive? It was nice seeing Eric have to be subservient for a change (at least he learned how to play Yhatzee, even though he sucks). Now he knows how Bill feels. When Eric said he would personally take care of Bill, why (Eric is awesome as the Bad Boy, he plays it so well)? Why did not the queen take care of Bill herself (well she did not find out about Bill knowing about the selling of V till after he left)? What does the queen ultimately want Sookie for? How is Bill involved (if he is involved, more than likely it was an order and against his will)? I will not go into the books because this is the show. Alan B. could do just about anything. I love him for that, love the changes. Anyways, many unanswered questions here.
Jason and Andy, best new hookup of the season (they practically stole the season), next to Jessica and Hoyt. Too much fun.
I wonder what will happen to Tara now that she lost Eggs. Will she lose it and revert to her anger, drinking and drugs? And what about Lafayette. I am so glad he is still a part of the show. He is awesome. Why have him sell vampire blood, because Eric can always track him?
Now Bill and Sookie. I adore Bill. Remember we are discussing the show here. I had read all the books long before the first season ended and I prefer the show hands down. Bill is handsome, sexy and has a big heart. He is still learning to use it again, but it is there (Its this “learning” he is doing with Sookie that has made the show wonderful). He proved that at the finales end. Some people have said they were bored with the ending. I was enthralled. Why, after all they have been through these past two seasons, can’t they get a break. Bill loves Sookie so much, he would do anything for her, even meet the sun. The man is a keeper in my book. Yes he has kept things from her but it was always to protect her, remember he is still learning to be in a relationship.
So, now we wonder who kidnapped Bill. More than likely Eric is involved. Perhaps he called in Lorena again, after all, a woman scorned………………….
Truly we will not know for sure for another 9 agonizing months. But for now, I will keep the image of our handsome Bill dancing and asking Sookie to marry him, close. I am after all a romantic at heart.
I ubderstand though that to keep the storyline fresh there will be drama and triangles, etc. That will be fun too.
Team True Blood!!!!!

Deen

I was a little disappointed with the finale. No scene that I want to go back and re watch (like I have with other episodes). Bill was too good, where is the Vampire in him? Eric made to look like Evil Eric, YAWN, the lead female getting engaged, that’s a new concept. The Queen needs a makeover, she needs to be more Vampire Queen instead of a spoiled teen and what’s with the Ellie May Clampet look on Hadley?
Did they really have to kill Eggs by have Jason shoot him in the head? Couldn’t he have just run away or killed himself?
I did like Sookie’s reaction to Bill proposal but instead of continuing her inner conflict, they had her put the ring on her finger and poof inner conflict resolved, yup she wants to get married. Maybe it was a magic ring. I liked the way that Maryann was finally killed but Sam turning into a White Bull, where’d he imprint on that? I like that Sam is going to find his family, that may be interesting next Season. Maybe they’ll have Jessica take the place of Bubba and I hope they give us more Pam. “she’s like a cool breeze on a summer day”.
What I did find interesting is that both Seasons ended with something to do with Bill and Sookie getting married. Season 1, Arlene, after the news that vampires can marry in Vermont, Sookie now you and Bill can get married and Season 2 Bill proposes.

Vero

It sorta fizzled out… too predictable.

Theresa

I love what everyone has to say, it gives food for thought. I did not read the books until season 2 started and did so because I felt the show was just going to slow for my taste. I have to say the show egged me on to want to have more and more. I thought the finale lacked that certain something (I don’t know what though). I too was hoping that Eric would have appeared in the bathroom with Sookie, I really thought that was going to happen. I think she has feelings for him and just does not know it yet. I felt there was something there upon them first meeting (and I had no idea there were books at that point). Just the way she said to Bill “Who’s that” and his reply was “oh you noticed him huh?” Anyway I too believe the show would be boring if they made it the Bill/Sookie or Eric/Sookie hour and I look forward to the obstacles that hopefully will come their way. I look forward to seeing the werewolfs and weretiger and all the other new characters that should be appearing to make Sookie’s life mayhem. That is what is exciting, all the trouble she gets into and the supe’s who help her get through it. Here’s to season 3 and sure hope 9 months fly by because I am such a fan I just cannot sit still. I will fill time by watching Vampire Diaries and will go see New Moon (2nd movie to the Twilight Series) and am anxiously awaiting Charlaine’s 10th book.

val

I was disappointed at first -it seemed to go along just as I had expected though I WAS glad to see the end of Maryanne! Then about half way through,it got interesting! Thats why I love this series-I have read all the books but the series continues to surprise and amaze me! First Rebecca than Jason-WOW!!!
I think Eric kidnapped Bill because of what he said to Sophie.

Ollie Chong aka AdoreBill

If Charlaine felt so disrespected I do not think she would have appeared in the season finale. She could have easily said no. Do not put words in her mouth. She has countless of times said in interviews she is enjoying the series and her and Alan Ball respect each other and get along well with each other.

It is too bad you can’t not appreciate all the actors’ marvelous performances and separate the books from the show.

Jessica

I really don’t care for ERW as the queen but whatever lol! The Andy/Jason couple is great they really make me laugh..I love Lafayette and Sam and of course I jus love Eric 🙂 I’m definately on team Eric I’ve never been a big fan of Bills and I especially dislike him in the books…I’m finishing book 7 now and I can’t wait to read the next 3! I do love the complexity of all the characters on the show and I don’t think people should take it soo seriously lol!!! It’s a fantasy/supernatural show people 🙂 I think 9 months is way too long to wait for season 3 for sure! And I’m sure happy Maryanne is dead I was soo sick of her. I’m hoping Allan Ball does bring in some characters from the books like Alcide, Quinn and I know the nasty Debbie Pelt will show up ya! For now I’ll keep updated on the coming season 3 on Twitter and finish books 8-10 book 10 due out this May 🙂

Victoria

I didnt liked at all how jessica ends up on the season finale.
But the ending when someone kidnapp Bill, is killing mee!
i already want to know what will happen in 9 monthss!
i hope Bill’s alright!
i love true blood!

Jessica

I was also kind of disapointed in last nights show…i

teresa

I loved the season finale, love Bill, how can anyone have a heart and not want Sookie to end up with Bill. I don’t mind a little flirtation with Eric just to keep it interesting, but Bill is so sweet, and truly loves Sookie, I’ll be upset if things change to much. I can’t wait for season 3

Tumblingweed

The sociology is fascinating, especially the Team Eric fervor. Is it just that these women haven’t HAD their ‘bad boys’? What is Sookie supposed to DO with Eric if they were to be together? Tame him into Bill?

This IS just entertainment but I’d like to see something done with the concept of immortality besides ennui and yatzhee. Doesn’t anyone put the opportunities to good use? I can think of a number of people for whom long life would prove beneficial, for us AND for them…

Bill hasn’t been a vampire long, in the vampire scheme of things, but long enough to think about Sookie changing over time in ways he will not…is he willing to settle for such an evanescent and increasingly May-December affair or will they both have to really consider Sookie joining him in vampiredom?

If so, at what point in her life? And is Bill just a fluke or could Sookie cross over with a decent amount of humanity intact?

Which brings me round full circle, I guess. If Stephen Hawking had been bitten (before the als got bad) would he still want to do physics?

I have really enjoyed reading all the comments. Everyone has an opinion. I have truelly enjoyed the whole season (except for Maryann stuff) and am looking forward to next year! However, I agree that Bill proposing to Sookie was shocking and an attempt to hold onto her. I think he is really worried that Eric will interfere in their relationship and lure Sookie away. Kind of pathetic. At first, when she was hesitating on saying yes, I felt like her deep-down feelings for Eric was causing her to question her feelings. I am still asking myself why she didn’t say yes right away. You snooze, you lose, Sookie!

Ann

All in all I thought that the season finale was very melancholy. The poetic lisence of Bill proposing to Sookie then getting kidnapped was a bit over the top. I enjoy both Bill and Eric’s presences in the show, but having read the synopsis of the 3rd book, I find that in the show, Bill was made too weak, so if he is supposed to be meaner next season, I would find that to be fake and take a lot of work, I think too that Eric’s character could have shown a gentler side to him. Other wise Sookies choice is, “The two timing jerk” or “the head over heels lover”
Eggs was boring. I too really like the Jason/Andy couple to be great, and hopefully they will also be a good comedic relief in the next season.

Mandi Loves Vampires

I really enjoyed the FINALE! I am torn between Eric and Bill! I love them both- Eric is hotter to me, but I love Bill too! Poor Sookie! Decisions!!!!
I have read the books- but kind of enjoy the storyline being so different from them- I never know what to expect, and I am glad.
I love VAMPIRES!!!!! I cant wait 9 months! HBO execs listen to us! No long wait- just start next season now!

juju

hoh i love it this last episode !!
especially the last scene it’s change in good we are more in the human environment of Sookie , I have followed this series since the start and I downloaded because I live in France i can tell you it’s was worth the shot!! some
things are not like the book but it’s still good =)
I hope that next season will surprise me even more !can’t wait !love that show !!!

Constance

I wasn’t impressed with the finale, I felt like it was ok for an episode, but not a finale. I’m glad Sam got to be the one to kill Maryann, he deserved that…though I already figured he would be the one to off her, and I had jokingly told my daughter that Sam would turn into a bull and kill her. Guess I wasn’t too surprised when that happened. 🙂

The scene with Egss was good…I wish they hadn’t had Jason be the one to kill him though, just think how messed up he’ll be now! As if he wasn’t already! I enjoyed the whole Jason/Andy bit, they are great together.

Other than that, the last part of the show was just plain blah…and when Bill handed Sookie the tickets for Vermont, my daughter and I both said…no, they are not going to go there…but they did…I was glad that Sookie hesitated and left, because frankly, if I’d had to watch Bill grovel any more I would have lost my supper. It just makes him look so weak. Bill is much stronger than that and it takes from his character to put him in that light….I guess the posting earlier says it for me…is this the “Bill/Sookie” hour? If that is what it’s going to be, then I am sooo bored with it already.

I was disappointed, again, with the not enough Eric scenes….I am really looking forward to him getting to shine next season.
And no…I don’t want it to be the Eric/Sookie hour either…that would be just as boring if they poured it on as thick as they do with Bill…and Eric’s character is not one to grovel, so I wouldn’t want to see that.

As far as clues about Bill being dishonest/hiding something, there have been several of them…I noticed them (but, I’ve read the books) but my husband has not…even he said Bill is hiding something several times. So, it is not just trying to find something because of the books.

All the cast in True Blood is wonderful…even the Queen…I think they all deserve their chance to shine…some of them just have such a powerful presence that they overshadow others…and I think that is why people want more of Eric’s character…he just plays the part perfectly. It’s hard to notice anyone else when the handsome, strong viking is around.

I am looking forward to the next season…it’s going to be a long 9 months! 🙁

SELENE

it’s incredible how Alan Ball was disrespected the Charlaine Harris books with this final, my god! now just missing that Eric has kidnapped Bill, to become Eric in the bastard of the story and Bill remains “the white dove” which does not kill a fly …a big disappointed…I’m thinking hard about whether or not the next season … I still prefer a thousand times the books…

Diana

Christine, your comments are dead on!

I do love Bill and Sookie together, but they need some conflict to remain interesting. In the ComicCon interview, Stephen Moyer did say that Bill may not be as nice next season, so there may be some dirty pool played on both sides for Sookie’s affections. Looking so forward to it.

Linda

Thank you for the comments about the Eric fans. There are many sites to voice their fervor – this is supposed to be about the show and all the characters.

I read all the books after seeing the first season. Why? Because I could tell from Stephen’s portrayal that Bill was hiding something – from the very first episode. I don’t think I was “reading” into it; perhaps people just aren’t giving his acting enough credit. BTW, I also don’t agree with people who are anti-Bill and pro-Eric because of the books. As a previous post said, characters are complex and not all good or all bad. I actually like Bill better in all the books than in Season 2 – he was too human for me – he lost his edge.

The episode? Up and down. The Queen selling V is intriguing, the “wedding” was silly (except for Lafayette’s dress) until they brought out Sam, and the proposal made sense (Bill wants to keep Sookie away from Eric and will do anything he can – and yes, he loves her – we got that), Jessica’s behavior change was great, and Jason now has a chance to become more complex too. I did think Eric was going to appear in the bathroom too, so that suspense worked very well.

Hijadejosefa

Thank you Nikki!! I LOVED the finale also but I am Team Bill also. I enjoyed the finale. I would have liked to have heard more dialogue between Sookie and Bill over how their relationsip would work, the sacrifices on Sookie’s part (not able to conceive naturally one of Bill’s children). Instead it seemed like the ring did it instead of their love.

I think one of two people kidnapped Bill–either Lorena, because of her veiled threat when she left Bill or Eric in trying to keep Bill quiet regarding Sophie-Anne’s drug dealing.

It’s going to be a long three months but at least MaryAnn is gone. I hope Allen Ball brings back Barry the bellboy and there is more of a story line between him and Sookie finding out about their “powers”.

Tams

I can’t believe how serious most take this show, It is TV people and a show that is derived from a book but yet a fantasy.Don’t get me wrong I love the show and I for one not having read one book, I don’t want to ever compare like most and do I enjoy that element of surprise. Last nights episode, lets face it, wasn’t the best one of the season but still tied up alot of loose ends. MaryAnn is finally gone, even though i enjoyed what she brought to the show. Eggs thank god (no pun to the god that comes) also gone he was so boring to me. Now lets see, we have Andy now protecting his new BFF Jason, Tara whom lord knows will have more anger (lol), Sam will find his real parents (what will they be) and Eric being afraid of the Queen was classic, best line of last night (I will turn your fangs into a new pair of earrings)ha Lafayette in a dress, well anything he does is wonderful(and he made season 3 wooohoooo),Hoyt finally standing up to his crazy momma for good and getting a backbone and going back to Jessica, and we now have our new little vampire on the loose to destroy, mankind….Bill and her relationship was so cute. Now as far as whom kidnapped Bill let the possibilities began, is it Eric,Lorena someone else…..This show is fantastic on so many levels, I don’t know what more you people wanted from an hour but i sure got my movie tickets price worth and then some.Happy Sucking All, see ya next year……………..

Jennifer

ahem… 3rd book. Season 2 was based on Book 2.

cgpunker

Yes! You nailed how I feel. Bill & Sookie COULD be amazing – but they are too schmoopy.

I’m an Eric fan, but the only reason I hate when they relegate him to 3 minutes is because too often those are the funniest most interesting minutes. I was as pissed about the lack of Eric as I was the minimization of Jason & Andy (my new fave couple!)

Give us MORE from the rest of the cast – more fun, more heart, even more angst – and people will stop screaming for Eric. (well, maybe not naked Eric, but it should calm down 🙂 )

Christine

I thought the finale was great fun. I have to say, that the fan-girling, esp. for Eric (and book people who take things waaaay too seriously) is absolutely destroying this show for people who want to enjoy for the ENSEMBLE CAST, for it’s humor and for being outrageous and from its complete departure from reality.

With that out of the way, I thought it was poetic justice that it was Sam who dispatched Maryann.

I’m glad that Evan Rachel Wood redeemed herself this episode — when her fangs came out and she jumped Eric, she proved to be the scariest vampire on the show. She brought terror back to being a vamp.

I was one of the people who thought that the Bill and Sookie relationship was irritating. Then I realized why it would bother so many people. Bill and Sookie’s relationship is completely un-romanticized love relationship — meaning it’s two people being schmoopy, irritated with each other, treating each other badly, taking each other for granted and being schmoopy and loving again and pushing and pulling and growing through it all — it’s like any old human relationship we see everyday. I think that’s what’s brilliant about it. In that way, it’s broken down the fourth wall and it’s snagged the audience into its realness, hence the “Oh shut Sookie!”, “Oh shut up Bill” and “You two suck!” moments that we’ve all had. We have all had a visceral reaction to their pairing.

That doesn’t mean I’m pro Bill — Everyone wants to see Eric be the Knight in shiny black leather. Eric is more fun. He’s classic “Magnificent Bastard” trope – the one we’d all like to capture. He’s a wonderful fantasy.

This finale felt very much the end of Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back. In spite of the victories and things going back to normal, nothing about it was glorious. I think there was a pervasive sadness to the whole thing. This entire season it seemed was about loss. Just think over the season what each of the characters lost. Lovers, parents, innocence, safety, makers, friends, a sense of self. Even Maryanne, at the end of her long life, lost her faith.

From what Allan Ball has said about Season 3 it’s about the characters finding strength through the losses and finding out and/or redefining who and what they are. So farewell to Season 2 — bring on Season 3!

cgpunker

That’s why I don’t like the Bill & Sookie show either. It’s one of the weakest plots they have right now…make it interesting or make it minor! 🙂

cgpunker

I read the books after S1 – about half way through S2…and I thought there were clues about Bill beforehand. I don’t think the clues about Bill are all that subtle frankly.

I do separate the books from the show. At least I try. 🙂 I generally like the differences – the medium lets the story be fuller – but I do not like how they seem to be changing the basic character stuff. And I wouldn’t like the writing for some of these characters even without the books.

I like strong female leads and complicated men. Life is complicated. I don’t like when a character is dumbed down so we HAVE TO LOVE HIM/HER. I’m not a lazy viewer – and I don’t want lazy writing.

Nikki

I LOVED the episode. I feel like a lot of people are basing the episode off of how much of Eric they saw…and quite frankly the show is about more than just Eric. Whether you’re Team Eric or Team Bill, the finale offered us a lot to think about for the upcoming year. Maybe I’m biased because I’m Team Bill. But the ending still opened a huge door for Eric to swoop in next season. Who do you think Sookie is going to turn to for help? That adds a lot of angst, and I love me some angst! And lets not forget about all the other characters and how their worlds were turned upside down. Jason is now a killer, Tara lost her loverboy, Sam is trying to find out where he comes from. And while I don’t necessarily want a Eric/Sookie pairing, I so appreciate Eric as a character, and I’m excited that he is getting a storyline that is more his own rather than just him chasing after Sookie. I can’t wait for next season!

pam

definately not what i was expecting, why did eric only have such a small(dare i say) part. i was glad sam killed maryann atleast we got through with that storyline. I am hoping for more eric scenes in season 3. I can’t believe Bill proposed to sookie they haven’t been together that long.

Ollie Chong aka AdoreBill

LOL! I didn’t know this was called the Eric Northman Show. I’m sorry but if the show was just based one character it would be very boring. True Blood is a great ensemble show with many great actors who work very hard on the series. The interactions that occurs between all of them makes the show entertaining. 🙂

Ollie Chong aka AdoreBill

LOL! However, take the stance from an non-book reader. Would you be looking for some secrets that Bill is hiding? Or as a book reader would you be looking for them in his slightest nuances based on information that you have from the books to match up with your theory. It is all in seeing what we want to see. A book reader may read certain things as a indication that he has some secrets while others who have not read the book would not because they would not have anything for their suspicions to be based upon. That is why it is best to separate the books from the show to because no one knows what’s going to happen.

Tracie

Thank goodness they are through with the whole MaryAnn bruhaha. I was getting very bored with that. Plus, they really need to replace the Queen with an actress that can act. Evan R. Wood is horrible. I was hoping at the end that Eric would walk into the bathroom with Sookie and she would not choose Bill because of it. That would have been great! I have a feeling that it’s Lorena that kidnaps Bill because of the line she said before the bomb went off “I wish you hadn’t said that” or something to that extent. The one character that really gets me is Jane Bodehouse. She is great in that role. Let Season 3 have 75% Eric and I’ll be in hog heaven.

Cgpunker

Even without the books there’s evidence that Bill has some secrets. Frankly he needs them because nobody likes one dimensional, and that’s where we are at with Bill

Casey

I was not too pleased with the finale. It felt like just a regular episode to me, the last 30 minutes were just..blah. I hardly even remember what happened other than the b.s. proposal. I read the books, but I’m OK with the show not following it exactly, part of me even enjoys the show more than the books! It just wasn’t a very good episode in general. They had the whole dang season about Maryann, and it was ended so easily and quickly. Not to mention, where was Eric!? Other than the 2 flippin seconds in the beginning. I love True Blood. And I STILL love True Blood, but this was not a good finale.

Ollie Chong aka AdoreBill

What secret are you hinting to? In the show? Or are you referring to the books? If so, those scenes have not been written and we do not know if they will be written. Let focus on the show and what has played up to now because it is much more interesting to speculate on what has happened up to now. The whole point is that it is not a carbon copy on the books but a adaptation. Therefore, enjoy the show and be surprised along the way instead of waiting for a scene to happen (which may or may not occur). Charlaine Harris herself said she is enjoying being surprised at the turn of events.

joluf

I don’t know. I don’t think it was as bad as everyone says. I’m glad Maryanne only took 1/2 the show. And even though I can’t stand Evan Rachel Wood, she did a bit better in this one. The Yatzee scene was fun, I thought. My heart ached for poor Hoyt. Sam deciding to find his family was interesting. And now Bill is gone so the next season is set up. Was it the best episode ever? No. But really, after Godric dying/Eric naked, everything is going to seem lame. At least I didn’t get bored during this episode like I did the last few.

Renée

i was a bit dissapointed.
Almost no Eric..I mean come on..he’s the main reason I love TrueBlood!!
after Maryann died..the episode just died with her..
and I don’t want sookie & bill to get married..Eric is so much better..sexier..cooler..you name it.
No mr. Ball..you didn’t satisfy me with this finale..and a lot of (eric?)fans with me

Dew

I do not know why people is so disappointed, I liked the finale except the queen’s part, I don’t know but for me the actress is not making justice to the character. True blood in a great show and you have to have an open mind to watch it and think that it you cannot focus in a single character and much less in continuing the story line of the books . As michelle forbes said they took a lot of risks for the end but that made it very interesting. And now the painful wait until the the third season!

Kim

Totally agree on the “gotta make Bill look good” statement. It WAS forced. There were a few hints dropped that Bill has something to hide but for the most part, I think they were shoving Bill’s “goodness” down our throats. Can’t wait for Bill’s secrets to come out and to see him in a different light. And one other thought….NOT ENOUGH OF ERIC!

kristen

I was SO disappointed. Not only in the last 30 minutes, which seemed to have been thrown together last minute with hardly any thought at all, but the way things ended with Maryann. All season long they hyped up this goddess type character who had the entire town under a spell, chaos everywhere, couldn’t be stopped…then after 20 minutes of the “finale”, Sam killed her. i kept thinking…that can’t be it, there’s no way. But it was. The whole episode felt forced and unthoughtful. Total letdown. The finale and the 2 episodes that proceeded it left the series feeling weak to me for the first time in 2 seasons. I hope they get back on track for season 3. Did Alan Ball go on vacation or something??

My Sharona

they really throw me off when they dont stick with the books but im guessin that Lorena got someone to kidnap him and this will lead up to what went on in the 2nd book(i think) in which she had to go looking for him.

the episode was very lackluster

cgpunker

Hated. It.
Boring. Uninspired. Predictable. Terrible.

Okay, to be fair, the first 30 minutes weren’t bad. Sookie was great, strong, fiesty – the action was good because MaryAnn was ending. The last 30 “gotta make Bill look good” minutes were confusing, forced and like watching grass grow. I am currently on the fence for Season 3.

Mara

Just bad, not enough Eric, and the whole B/S dance/proposal was a boring mess.
