Who Should Be True Blood’s Debbie Pelt?

Michael Ausiello from EW.com is now asking the question that is on every True Blood fan’s mind for season 3 of Alan Ball‘s hit HBO TV vampire series, who is going to be cast as Debbie Pelt? True Blood is looking for someone to play the twenty- to thirtysomething year old knockout and werewolf Alcide’s psycho ex-girlfriend. Michael has several people in mind that could play the sporty, spiteful, psycho black-haired beauty. Here are his choices:

Milla Jovovich from Resident Evil

Katharine Isabelle from Supernatural

Shakira, enough said

Sarah Brown from The Bold and the Beautiful and General Hospital

Krysten Ritter from Veronica Mars, 27 Dresses and Confessions of a Shopaholic

Katie Holmes aka Mrs. Tom Cruise

Tanit Phoenix would have been the best actress for this part.. Check her out on imdb.com.. She is rising so fast to the top of everyone’s list to play lead opposite Hollywood’s leading men, pus she is a new face,fresh and sexy as hell and super talented! My prediction is that Tanit Phoenix is going to blow so many people out the water when people start recognizing her amazing talent!

She’d be a good one…she has an innocent look about her too. If I am remembering correctly Debbie looked sweet and innocent…it’s been almost a year since I read that book.

I thought of Kayla Ewell, she played Vicky Donovan in Vampire Diaries. Vicky was “staked” a few episodes ago on the show so hopefully she is available. Kayla is not well known, but IMO she can pull off the bitchy/clingy/emotionally distraught Debbie Pelt.

I think the actress who plays Lana Lane of the Smallville fame would be an great chioce. We have seen her play both the sweet and innocent and the mean and nasty. Her dark looks and piercing eyes makes her a good Debbie Pelt.

Sarah Brown should play the role of Debbie Pelt. She looks like she can play the vicious,devious bitch role of Debbie. I think that she would be the best fit for that character, so far!!

Its a toss up between Katharine Isabelle and Fairuza Balk for me to play Debbie Pelt. They definitely have that look about them and have played psychotic crazy characters before.

Alan Ball is looking for someone in her late 20s to mid 30s. Fairuza Balk is within that age range.

If you read the books, you’ll see that’s exactly the point. We’re supposed to think that Alcide is an idiot for choosing Debbie Pelt over Sookie. Heck, we’re supposed to think that Alcide is an idiot for not choosing just about anybody else but Debbie Pelt. Debbie Pelt is supposed to be a big mistake on Alcide’s part on many levels.

As an aside, Sookie was only attracted to Alcide, but neither seriously considered an actual relationship with each other because of their personal circumstances. Sookie only pretended to be with Alcide to get into Club Dead and eventually to make Debbie jealous. So there really was no choice to be made.

i agree with the people who feel that Fairuza is a little to old because SHE IS.
the audience would think that alcide was an idiot if he were to choose her over sookie.

Boy, to be able to be a casting director @ a time like this.

People–Kristin Kruek, really?! I’m all for it, if I were looking for a sweet babysitter, some blueblood, or some protagonist’s first love/childhood sweetheart. Her look is way too genteel and well, sane.

Now, I agree with the earlier option of Fairuza Balk–even if she just stands around, she definitely screams “Debbie Pelt.” She already proved it in “The Craft.”

Re.the age issues, I don’t think it would be much of one. We’ve already seen that Alan Ball has taken great creative license with the storyline Charlaine Harris originally made, so it will be v. interesting to see who his ultimate casting choices will be with both DP & AH, and how the future seasons will look.

Fairuza Balk was born in 1974, so she’s only 35. Not too old by Ball standards which he said he wanted someone in their late 20’s early 30s. Andrew, I think you’re right, she looks much younger than that! I think the movie Heather’s has really changed the definition of crazy, evil bitch to just sarcastic, bored hipster. All the girls that Ausiello listed are girls who do just that, sarcastic, bored, spoiled hipster. Debbie Pelt is none of those things, she’s a bat, shit, out of control crazy with jealous rage character. Fairuza Balk can play all of these things superbly!

One actress I immediately pictured as DP, which never happens to me, and that is Debi Mazar. Unfortunately, she is 20 years too old for the part. I re-checked out Fairuza Balk on IMBD and couldn’t believe the resemblance to Debi Mazar! She would be perfect. (The only caveat is that I did not check out her age now.)

Just throwing a name out there cause i think that she’s so under the radar,Kristin Kruek. Fairuza might be a little to old considering she has to compete with the likes of Anna Paquin. Kristin and Anna look as if they’re about the same age plus Kristin is so undeniably pretty. I just think that here had to be an understanding as to why Alcide is torn between these to females…they have to be almost on par and Fairuza would most likely come off to most viewers as no competition at all, so…Kristin all the way!!

Sarah Brown looks how I envisioned Debbbie, but I have no idea what her presence is like. I wouldn’t buy any of the others off the list, they just don’t fit the part.

Fairuza Balk, hands down.
She’s just awesome and she plays crazy/wacky/psychotic so well.
I hope she’s in it, she’d be brilliant.

It’s ashame that Helena Bonham Carter can’t do it, she’d have been good too.

Fairuza is deffientely the best choice.

I’m betting they go with Sarah Brown, even though I don’t think her look is really right for the part. There’s talk of her character being killed off on General Hospital in the near future so she’ll be available, and honestly she’d probably be a lot less expensive then the others since she’s used to a Soaps budget.

She can play crazy with a touch of vulnerability, so who knows, she might work. I’d really rather see someone with more bite in the role though.

Rachelle is filming another movie, she quit Twilight to do so. I absolutely abhorr Lady Gaga so I will PRAY they don’t pick her! Pink or Fairuza Balk would be good candidates, but I don’t know about Pink’s acting ability, there could be a reason she hasn’t tried to break into the big (or small) screen.

I agree with the look of Rose McGowan too…she’s pretty close to what I pictured when I read the book.

Christine — Now that I have looked up Fairuza Belk I agree. She would be a great choice! However, in speaking of Kat Dennings, I think she would be a good option as well. She hasn’t done anything like this before (that I’m aware of), but she’s a great actress who I believe could do a great job with this role.

All of these choices in the article are completely awful to me. I always pictured Debbie to be a sarcastic brunette. I see someone like Kat Dennings, Mila Kunis, or Maggie Gyllenhaal.

I too thought of Fairuza Balk…though she may be too old. Otherwise, what about someone like Pink? or even lady gaga..she’s already been making out with Alexander Skarsgård in her latest video! how about Rachelle Lefevre? she should be available or Juliet Landau? or is she too old for the part now? She is very good at being bad!

Someone who is not a well known entity. AB and team has done an amazing job with the casting so far. I trust they will cast an amazing actress as Debbie Pelt. I just hope the whole season will not focus on that character. She is important but not like MA important.

Please cast Katharine Isabelle as the Debbie Pelt, she would be amazing. DON’T ASK Katie Holmes and I think Milla Jovovich just doesn’t suit the part…If you ask Shakira, I’ll stop watching the show, she’s horrible.
