VIDEO: True Blood Cast in Paris For Season 2 Premiere
November 7, 2009
On November 5, 2009 Alexander Skarsgard, Sam Trammell, Michelle Forbes, and Rutina Wesley attended the premiere of Season 2 of True Blood in Paris, France at the Max Linder Cinema. In the video Alex, Sam, Rutina and Michelle do a Q & A session before the screening of episode 1 and 2. Sam has studied in France before yet he was hesitate to give his answer in French. Now my French is a little rusty but I believe the announcer is informing the audience that Sam can speak French and then asks Sam to explain the spirit of True Blood to which Sam states in French, “My God, I don’t speak French very well.”
Rutina Wesley in Hometown Las Vegas for Yelloween Event
November 2, 2009
Playing Tara Thornton on True Blood is a far cry from anything Rutina Wesley thought she’d be doing when she attended the Las Vegas Academy of International Studies, Performing Arts, and Visual Arts during high school.
Not much from her training there, other than having the “freedom in the way where I can just play around with different choices and not be afraid to jump off the cliff or think out of the box” prepared her for the scenes she’s done, including the crazy orgy scenes she had to do while wearing black contacts and mumbling weird enchantments.
But as she tells Las Vegas Weekly:
If you haven’t been watching True Blood, you’re definitely missing out. There’s something for everyone—not for the kids, not for the kids [laughing]—but something for people who like all different types of things. It’s not just a vampire show. It’s reality meets fantasy, so that means anything could happen. I think it’s such a good show. I hope people continue to watch and I hope people who don’t watch will start watching.
Rutina was back in her hometown of Las Vegas on October 31 to host “Yelloween” with her co-star Sam Trammell at the Lavo nightclub. While you might expect her to wear something vampiric for the Halloween event, you’d be disappointed. Her costume?
I think I’m going to go as a pirate, oddly enough.
Since dressing as a vampire might seem too much like work, I can hardly blame her for making a different choice. And her costume definitely looks good on her.
As for Sam Trammell, I’m guessing from the looks of it, he opted to shun the fang as well, going instead for Viking Eric Northman meets Harry Potter?
In addition to hosting the nightclub event, there are two things Rutina is really looking forward to while she’s at home:
I must see my family. That’s always the number one thing on my list. You know what? I usually love to go bowling when I’m in Vegas. There’s something about Vegas and bowling, do you know what I mean? You know what I mean. Bowling is just the thing to do. I don’t know if it’s because when we grew up, we just didn’t go to the Strip as much because that got boring after a while, so it was like, “What else can you do?” There was bowling and then there’s karaoke. So those are the two things that I always go off and do with my friends.
Rutina is staying busy with appearances at special events, and she will be voicing a character on The Cleveland Show while True Blood is on hiatus. Filming for Season 3 of True Blood begins in early December.

Sam Trammell and Rutina Wesley at The Las Vegas Yelloween Party
November 2, 2009
Over the weekend True Blood fans had the chance to party with Sam Trammell (Sam Merlotte) and Rutina Wesley (Tara Thornton) at the Veuve Clicquot’s Yelloween party at the Lavo nightclub inside the Palazzo Hotel and Casino on October 31, 2009 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Sam’s costume was probably best described as a “Viking Sorcerer”, wearing a horned viking helmet with long blonde braids, a wizard’s robe and wand. Rutina on the other hand, was dressed in a black and red pirate outfit. Both True Blood stars mingled with guest at the Halloween bash which probably had its fair share of vampires roaming around.

Rutina Wesley Voicing Cleveland Show Character
October 23, 2009
During the long, cold winter of HBO’s True Blood hiatus, Rutina Wesley will be stepping outside her familiar character as Tara Thornton to provide the voice for a character named Yvette on FOX’s The Cleveland Show. The Cleveland Show, recently renewed for a second season, is a spin-off of The Family Guy.
Talking to TV Guide Magazine, Rutina said:
I’m playing Cleveland’s wife’s best friend. They’ve known each other since they were kids. She has a big butt, big earrings and a real big voice. I love her.
AceShowbiz.com reports that in the episode, Cleveland is upset when he finds out that Donna is still attending a single mothers’ support group.
Rutina brings such comedy to her role as Tara, who is such a masterfully witty character, this episode should really give her a chance to show off that talent without any limits. I’ll definitely be setting my DVR.
The episode entitled “Ladies Night” is set to air on Nov. 15.

Rutina Wesley at the 2009 Scream Awards
October 20, 2009
Rebecca Murray recently interviewed Rutina Wesley, for her online Hollywood movie blog at the 2009 Scream Awards. We all know that Rutina’s character, Tara, has been through more than any one person should be put through this past season on True Blood. Well, Rebecca asked Rutina what she thought could possibly be up next for Tara.
Rutina explained that Tara has a long grief process ahead of her, but that she will, hopefully, find comfort in her friend, Sookie. Rutina is ready for whatever is up next for Tara as long as she doesn’t get killed. Rutina also admits that she wouldn’t mind revisiting the Tara and Sam storyline.
Wesley feels that Tara was really falling in love with Sam, but just wasn’t ready for it. Rutina also discussed the inner aspects of her character and how she has really been able to deeply understand Tara and where she comes from. Rebecca also asked Rutina if she ever gets used to being on a show where you hang out with vampires and shapeshifters all the time. Rutina laughed saying that she never gets used to it, especially when the actors have their fangs in.
We want to thank Rebecca Murray for sharing her awesome interview with Rutina with us. If you would like to see Rebecca’s video interview with Rutina you can go here.

True Blood Wins at Spike TV’s 2009 Scream Awards
October 18, 2009
At last night’s 2009 Spike TV Scream Awards, held at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles, True Blood took away four awards, including Stephen Moyer (Bill Compton) for Best Male Horror Actor, Anna Paquin (Sookie Stackhouse) for Best Female Horror Actor, Alexander Skarsgård (Eric Northman) for Best Villain, and HBO’s True Blood for Best TV Show. A full list of all the winners from the event is available at BloodyDisgusting.com.
SCREAM Award winners are chosen by fans, and though the 4th annual awards ceremony will not be broadcast until October 27th on Spike TV, there are some wonderful pictures of the True Blood Scream Team at the event.
Rutina Wesley (Tara Thornton) was absolutely stunning in her little black dress as she walked the red carpet.

There are some great shots of Sam Trammell (Sam Merlotte) on the red carpet before the event.

Alexander Skarsgård accepted his award for Best Villain from his Straw Dogs costar, Kate Bosworth. The microphone was not built for Vikings, apparently, and there are some very cute photos of him having to fold himself in half during his speech.

Anna Paquin was radiant and beautiful as she accepted her award for Best Horror Actor Female.

Stephen Moyer accepted his award as Best Horror Actor Male, walking with a cane, apparently having done something to his knee.

The entire cast took the stage when True Blood was announced as Best TV Show, and both Alan Ball and Sam Trammell spoke to the audience while the rest of the cast looked on (and occasionally acted up in the background).

Ryan Kwanten is “Man We Love” in Cosmopolitan UK
October 14, 2009
Ryan Kwanten is definitely drool-worthy as Jason Stackhouse in Alan Ball’s True Blood vampire drama series. Now that Season 1 of True Blood is airing in Britain, in which almost every part of Ryan’s physique is on display, Cosmopolitan UK has a major crush on the HBO star and features him as this month’s “Man We Love.”
But there’s more to love than just his toned and tanned amazing abs. In an interview with Cosmo UK, Ryan said that looks aren’t everything to him. He loves smart women, stating:
I like the saying, ‘Beauty to no complexion is confined, is of all colours and by none defined,’ meaning what one person finds beautiful, someone else might not.
That’s why I have a problem with being called a sex symbol – it’s such an unquantifiable factor. I’ve always found Jennifer Connelly appealing, both as a woman and actress. She’s got a degree too, so she’s a smart woman.
Ryan also says that passion is essential for a relationship to work. (No worries, Ryan. I’m pretty sure you’re not going to have any trouble finding passion in your love life.)
And if all of that information isn’t enough to make you swoon, Cosmo UK has a gallery of ridiculously delicious photos of Ryan that will leave you crushing on him too. (SIGH!)

Rutina Wesley Talks True Blood at NYC Fashion Show
October 13, 2009
In a interview with Fashion News Live at a recent fashion show in New York City, Rutina Wesley discussed how True Blood has become such a major hit and how pleased she is to see how fast the show has caught on with viewers.
She also talked about the steamy sex scenes in True Blood. Rutina explained that she is married and she always keeps it professional. She was also asked how much her life has changed compared to her life before True Blood. Rutina said that she still feels like the same girl she was before, but now people definitely notice her and she laughed about how fans run up to her now calling her “Tara”.
Rutina feels good being able to inspire her fans and appreciates that so many are moved by her work. Rutina was also asked about the notorious “black eyes” that we saw Tara and the citizens of Bon Temps had while under the control of Maryann. Rutina explained that they achieve that effect with the use of big contact lenses that she admits are pretty painful the first few times she used them, but after a while was able to get used the them. We all appreciate you, Rutina, and the wonderful work you do on True Blood!
