Rutina Wesley in TV Guide Magazine
February 6, 2010
TV Guide Magazine is used by most subscribers than just the television listings nowadays. In my own household, it is actually used more for the articles about our favorite shows and the pictures from different awards shows.
For example, in the February 8-14, 2010 issue of TV Guide Magazine, there is a two-page photo-article that has pictures of some of the stars who attended the SAG Awards. True Blood’s very own Rutina Wesley was featured in a three picture spread along with some quotes regarding the SAG Awards.
Rutina looks lovely in her robe as she was getting made up for the SAG Awards and smiling at her makeup artist. Rutina was quoted below that photo as saying,
“Getting ready [for the SAGs] was very fun.” She said that it normally takes her an hour and a half to get ready, but she always keeps some buffer time because “you never know—something could go wrong.”
Rutina and her husband and fellow actor Jacob Fishel looked fabulous on the SAG Red Carpet as Rutina is quoted as saying in the The TV Guide Magazine issue,
“I’m always trying to get [Jacob] to take a picture.”
She also commented about how wonderful it is to have someone there for you all the time.
Rutina was quoted in the article about her surprise of True Blood’s nomination for a SAG Award and how she found herself star-struck being surrounded by so many famous and talented actors in the industry and how fortunate she was to be among them. As Rutina said, “is a grown girl’s dream come true.”
To see the gorgeous pictures of Rutina and to enjoy her down-to-earth attitude pick up a copy of TV Guide Magazine, available in stores and on newsstands now.

True Blood Season 3 Spoiler News: More Eric, Jason, Sam and Rutina
January 26, 2010
It seems True Blood fans can expect season 3 to be with filled with lots of drama and actions, in more ways then one, for many of the cast members. According to People and E!Online we will be seeing alot of drama unfolding for Jason Stackhouse (Ryan Kwanten), Sam Merlotte (Sam Trammell), Eric Northman (Alexander Skarsgard) and Tara Thornton (Rutina Wesley).
Many Eric fans were excited to hear recently that they will be seeing their favorite character having more nude scenes in season 3 and according to Nelsan Ellis, who states he will be Eric’s henchman this year, that we will be seeing a lot of Eric and Pam tag-team action this year as well,
“Eric will definitely be in every episode, and Pam is definitely in the first four.”
Tara on the other hand will be having a rollercoaster ride with her emotions as she will be grieving the loss of Eggs and the raptures of attraction to a new suitor who may or may not be good for her.
“She’s going to have to grieve a lot to get over [Eggs]. And then it’s going to be crazy madness.”
Now with Jason we are going to start seeing more of him compared to last season where he seemed to be able to keep his clothes on, this season maybe not so much. According to Ryan there are some major storylines that he will be involved in that include,
“Jason finally falls in what he thinks is love. It’s a pretty rare, unknown concept for him.” Awww…Plus, Ryan tells us of Jason’s future, “The fact that my character is dealing with the fact that he really has killed someone now is pretty crazy, and there’s a whole host of new characters. There’s the addition of werewolves coming in. We’re using real wolves. It’s crazy. I’ve yet to work with them. I’ll work with them later on in the season, but I’m looking forward to it.”
Sam joked around about the number of nudes scenes he has done and how they are rivaling with Ryan’s and how both are ready for the new season and what the episodes have in store for them.
“We joke about it — and who has the record for the most disrobes,” says Trammell, who plays the shape-shifting Sam Merlotte. “I think Ryan does. But I’m close behind him at this point because I’ve already disrobed like four or five times this year and I don’t think he has at all. I’ve got to fight that out with him. Ryan is definitely ready to show up and flaunt it, because he’s got the bod to back it up. He’s probably the least bashful.”
Sam mentioned that since they have to do all these nude scenes that they have to work hard on staying in shape themselves and avoid the various temptations that surround them that can hinder their goals.
“[Working out is] up to us,” he says. “They’ve got the cookies out.”
However, as he says the cast has gotten used to performing in the nude and that sometimes if some of the female cast member feels a little shy or embarrassed you get used to a process of feeling the emotion, taking the clothes off once and then it is over and done with. It is not all about Sam being nude this season as Nelsan explains, Sam will also be busy trying to locate his family and reconnecting with them.
Ryan explains his take on life and his approach to things and his character of Jason,
“I tend to think that I live my life relatively fearlessly,” admits Kwanten, who plays the heroic if not always clear-headed Jason Stackhouse. “If HBO knew half the things that I do in my personal life they probably wouldn’t be too happy about it … I have no fear. I sort of hide behind the guise that I am playing a character … Personally, I’m quite restrained and almost introverted. But as Mr. Stackhouse, I can’t afford to have any of those sensitivities.”
Whatever Alan has in store for all our favorites characters, season 3 of True Blood cannot come soon enough for the fans.

Alexander Skarsgard and Rutina Wesley: Faces to Watch in 2010
January 15, 2010
Every year, Glamour Magazine puts up a list of actors, musicians, and fashion designers they think their readers should keep an on for the coming year. This year, that list (called “Faces to Watch 2010“) includes two of our very own: Alexander Skarsgard and Rutina Wesley.
The list is put next to a photo of each star, and gives some very generalized information on who each person on the list is, and what they’re doing that you should keep an eye out for. For Alexander, the website states that Alexander Skarsgard, (age: 33) has the star quality due to his lineage being the son of actor Stellan Skarsgård, thus being use to life in the entertainment industry. With his huge fan, base due in part to his role as the 1,000 year old viking vampire, Eric Northman, his video cameo in Lady GaGa’s controversial “Paparazzi” video, and his thriller “13” coming out later this year there will be lots of opportunity to see him on both the small and big screen.
The other True Blood member to catch the Glamour team’s attention is our very own, Rutina Wesley. Glamour states that Rutina Wesley (age: 25) has the making of star quality due to her big break as the sharp-tongued Tara Thornton in True Blood that has shined the spotlight on her. Glamour says that we need to keep on eye on her as she will be one to watch in 2010. While I would have personally liked to have seen the entire cast of True Blood on the list of “Faces to Watch 2010,” it’s nice to see at least some of our favorite True Blood actors get recognized for their talents!

Rutina Wesley Discusses Number of Seasons for True Blood
January 13, 2010
In a recent interview with SciFiNow, Rutina Wesley talks about where her character has been, where she’s going, and how much more True Blood we have to look forward to.
She certainly doesn’t give a definitive answer, but Rutina guesses that the show could run for several seasons because people are so drawn to it and there’s nothing else quite like it:
“I think it will run for as long as… I mean, there are nine books out there, and [Charlaine] is going to do three more, but I don’t know if we will that long. People seem to think that True Blood is going to be one of those shows that will run for five or six seasons if not more. It’s going to depend on audience ratings and stuff like that, but I can’t imagine it not running for a long time because the books are so juicy and Alan Ball has also made everything so vibrant, colorful, and imaginative. So I think it’s going to be a show that people are going to be dying to watch for a long time.”
She was also asked whether they might ever do a True Blood movie, but she says that would depend on timing and when the show ended. She already feels like each episode is a mini-movie in itself.
As for what Tara has been through on the show, Rutina was glad she got to show her softer side in Season two. She was less defensive and more open to being taken care of:
“It feels good to be starting a new romance with this beautiful man who serenades her with his guitar. It’s almost like living in a fantasy world a bit.”
Sadly, as those of us who have seen the end of Season two know, happiness couldn’t last forever. Tara will probably be in a dark period in her life when the show returns for season three this summer. Rutina suggests that there may be “some grieving and maybe even a new romance with Sam.”
Working on the show has been an amazing experience for Rutina, one that she still can’t quite believe has actually happened. It’s been an amazing experience for us as viewers, too, so we hope the adventure continues for many more seasons as she seems to think!
