Inside True Blood Answers Third Fan Question

May 18, 2011

Blogger Gianna Sobol Answers:

Patricia Bethune as Jane BodehouseThe third fan question on the Inside True Blood Blog was: “What is the strangest thing you have encountered on set?”

“I walked over to the commissary to grab lunch one day, and the woman in line in front of me handed me the salad tongs when she was finished with them. When I looked up at her, there was Jane Bodehouse looking like she just stepped out of a Bon Temps bacchanal – hair disheveled, black eyes, and a big smile on her face. I totally freaked out, nearly dropped my plate. Patricia Bethune, forgetting what she looked like, had no idea why. I had to apologize and remind her that she looked like a crazy person. Oh, the Maryann days…”

What do you think, Truebies? Would you freak out if you saw a crazed Jane Bodehouse? What would you ask Gianna?

Deborah Ann Woll Stars in Mother’s Day and Seven Days in Utopia

May 18, 2011

Two New Movies for Fans of True Blood’s Jessica:

Deborah Ann Woll as Sarah in Seven Days in UtopiaFans of Deborah Ann Woll, who plays Jessica the newborn vampire on HBO’s True Blood, have two treats at the movies coming up.

The first movie is a psychological horror called Mother’s Day. When reviewed by Gaper’s Block, they had this to say:

Here’s a free piece of advice to all future horror filmmakers: if the audience actually cares about your characters, the impact when they die will be so much deeper. That’s what you want and what you should aspire to.

And this is exactly what Mother’s Day appears to have done. The movie has Deborah Ann playing the sister of three brothers who try to return to the family home after one of them is shot. Unbeknownst to them, their mother (played brilliantly by Rebecca De Mornay) has sold the house and is now living elsewhere. As a result, a whole party of people are taken hostage and tortured by not only the siblings, but mother dearest also.

While this movie has only been shown once so far (on Mother’s Day, of course), and is yet to pick up a distributor, it has apparently been slated for release some time in October. For fans of horrors and those creepy psychological thrillers, then reserve a seat for this one!

The next of Deborah’s movies changes pace somewhat and comes in the form of Seven Days in Utopia. This story revolves around a father and his son, Luke Chisholm, both of whom play golf. The father is trying to ‘help’ his son better his game. The result is that the father walks off the course during the middle of a tournament. The son winds up in a car accident in the lonely little town of Utopia. Luke is then found by Johnny Crawford (played by Robert Duvall) and taken back to his farm. Deborah plays the love interest role of Sarah.

This movie looks just as fabulous as Mother’s Day, but without all the blood!

Kristin Bauer to Attend the Super Pet Adoption

May 17, 2011

A Chance to Meet the True Blood Star and Adopt a Pet:

Kristin Bauer van Straten as vampire PamThis weekend the Super Pet Adoption is being held over two days at La Brea Tar Pits Park, Los Angeles. So if you are in the area and after a new pet, then this is the place to be! And for fans of the HBO series, True Blood, there is an added bonus – Kristin Bauer will also be attending.

As we all know, Kristin (who plays Pam, the vampire) is an advocate for animal welfare. She will be attending, along with other celebrities, in hopes that many of the 1,000 homeless animals will be rehoused. Amy Smart, Carrie Ann Inaba, and pet expert Harrison Forbes are just a few of those expected.

Lots of Furry Love:

Los Angeles Super Pet AdoptionThe theme of the weekend is “Love is in Bloom”. While the goal was to find homes for 800 animals, the number has now risen to nearly 1,000 animals! This was a result of 17 shelters and more than 40 rescue groups wanting to take part in the event: “We picked up a lot more shelters this year”, says programs manager Jen Woodard.

Those in attendance will get to see something very special unveiled — the Best Friends mobile adoption vehicle!

“Best Friends on Tour” is a fully decked out, highly visible 27-foot bus that comes with a slide-out free-range cat room, exterior lighting, climate control, granite counters and much more.

Every single week, Thursday through Sunday, the bus will set up at various locations for a four-hour adoption mini-marathon. The plan is to have 30 animals on hand, all from Los Angeles Animal Services. What a cool concept!

So make sure you add these dates to your calendar or like them on Facebook to get more details.

True Blood’s Dawn Olivieri in New Movie “Growl”

May 16, 2011

Dawn Olivieri Gets to be a Werewolf:

Growl posterFans of HBO’s smash hit True Blood should remember Alcide’s sister, Janice, from season 3.  She also plays Damon’s play thing, Andie Star, on “The Vampire Diaries”, and had a good run on NBC’s “Heroes”.  Dawn Olivieri can next be seen in Growl, set to be released this year.  She plays Deville Maxilla, a member of the only family left in a ghost town in the Rockies.  The film also stars Katee Sackhoff, best known for “Battlestar Galactica” and “24”.  Growl was directed and written by Sxv’leithan Essex, with Lee Cleary producing.  Cleary has worked on over 50 films, including X-Men and The A-Team, going as far back as 1988’s Willow and beyond.

Rest assured we will share the movie trailer as soon as it’s available, but for now, here’s the plot summary by director Sxv’leithan Essex:

A traveling underground fight club called ‘The Brawlers’ arrive at a derelict ghost town tucked away in the Colorado Rockies. They meet the town’s only residents, the Maxilla family who want to buy on to the fight card. But the Maxilla family’s true intentions for the Brawler crew is soon revealed in teeth and claws. Some will be hunted, some will be feed, and some will become part of the family…whether they like it or not.

What do you think Truebies, are we ready for more fur?

Q&A with Deborah Ann Woll of True Blood

May 16, 2011

Interview with The Moment Blog:

Deborah Ann Woll as vampire Jessica on True BloodDeborah Ann Woll (Jessica Hamby) of True Blood did an ask and answer and let us know which coast she likes best, her inspiration for Jessica and what she likes to do when she’s not working.

Deborah grew up in New York but now lives in Los Angeles.  When asked about which coast she likes most, the East was the winner!  She says that she is “A pedestrian at heart.”

When preparing for her role as baby vamp Jessica, she states that she did a lot of research on the science of being a vampire in the True Blood universe.  She speculates that they aren’t truly cold, simply cold blooded.  She goes on to say:

“I think we are cold blooded like snakes.  We are the temperature of our surroundings and can be warmed by contact with warm objects.  A hot rock, warm water, a warm-blooded body.  Doesn’t that make a human lover seem extra enticing!”

She even lets us in on what’s in store for Jessica in season 4!  We can look forward to some conflict from within Jessica and what it means for her relationships.  Deborah also just wrapped a film called Someday This Pain Will Be Useful to You, in which she plays a college student.  She tells us that her character is:

“Grappling with her identity — primarily in relationship with her family.  She’s very confused and makes some mistakes along the way but, don’t we all?”

She doesn’t have a preference of film over television yet.  In her spare time, she enjoys carpentry and home improvement.  She also advocates for The Choroideremia (CHM) Research Foundation.  Her boyfriend suffers from the disease that is essentially making him blind, along with other male members of his family.  There currently is no known cure.  She works to raise awareness and funds.  More information about CHM can be found here.

Video: Alexander Skarsgård’s “Straw Dogs” Trailer

May 13, 2011

A Monster of a Different Sort:

Alexander Skarsgård, known to True Blood lovers as the Viking vampire sheriff Eric Northman, plays a monster of an altogether different sort in this year’s remake of Straw Dogs.  Random factoid: the lucky dog met his current belle, Kate Bosworth, during filming.  The dramatic thriller also stars James Marsden.  Bosworth and Marsden portray a married couple who relocate to the South, and encounter some ugliness, to say the least.  Would you go to any lengths just to see our handsome Swede on the big screen?  Let us know what you think after viewing the trailer!
