Love on a Post-it

True Blood Tara and Eggs on the couch

On a hot, humid day Sookie has all the windows open throughout Gran’s house. Finally, a day to try and clean up the mess that Maryann left behind. The rustling sounds and delicate scent of  nearby honeysuckle vines fill the house as they dance in the occasional breeze. On her knees, Sookie is scrubbing the floor with a soapy sponge, her relaxed and rhythmic motion in tandem with the swaying of the large tree in the front yard. Deliberate and methodical it appears as if she’s coaxing the dirt, along with Maryann’s spirit, out of the hundred-year-old wood foundation of the home. If only burning sage could get rid of the blood, the dirt and the memories of what happened here. As Sookie reaches for another bottle of cleaner, she notices a small yellow doll made out of paper. Oh no. Not another one of Maryann’s devil dolls. How did she miss it? Sookie picks it up and studies the figure. The doll is actually made out of post-it notes, all have been written upon and some are in Tara’s handwriting. Sookie peels each post-it note off and reads it before sticking them on the warn kitchen table.

Tara, we left some breakfast for you in the dining room. I’m making a run with Maryann. See you when I get back.
–Eggs

Eggs, thanks for the breakfast! Come down to Merlotte’s tonight and I’ll buy you dinner! See ya there!
-Tara

Tara, what the hell happened last night?! My body is killing me! We need to talk when you wake up.
–Eggs

Eggs, Maryann is so crazy! Last night was fun. Where did you guys go?
-Tara

Tara, sorry didn’t get to see you yesterday. Been thinking about you.  How about breakfast? See you there.
–Eggs

Eggs, I’m not so sure about Maryann. What do you know about her? Tell me at lunch okay?
–Tara

Tara, I’m glad you have been with us these few weeks. I feel like our family is growing.
–Eggs

Eggs, I’m not so sure about us living in Sookie’s house. It doesn’t feel right. And why is my bra hanging from the roof?? Please get it down!
–Tara

Tara, I really feel like we’re a family now. We look out for each other. Don’t worry me and M. will always have your back.
-Eggs

Eggs, I woke up with the scent of you all over me, but I don’t remember being with you. What’s going on?
-Tara

Tara, Sorry I missed you again. Let’s not smoke anything tonight, I feel like I got holes in my head too!
-Eggs

Eggs, I cleaned up as much as I could before I went to work. Sookie would kick us all out if she saw this place.
-Tara

Tara, my jaw is KILLING me and my body aches. What the f@%k happened last night? Can’t wait to see you.
–Eggs

Eggs, some crazy shit is going down around here and I DON’T like it AT ALL. I’m going to talk to Maryann. BTW, Sookie’s gonna kill me when she sees her house!
–Tara

Tara, let’s chill for a second and figure out what happened before we talk to M. You both are all I got and I don’t want to lose either of you. Promise me, Tara. Please.
Love Eggs

Eggs, Slept at LaLa’s last night. Had to take Jane Bodhouse home. She was so drunk she barfed all over the place! NAST!
Love, Tara

Tara, Hope you can get outa’ work early tonight! Maryann says she’s making us a home cooked meal.
-Love, Eggs

Eggs, Sometimes I’m so confused. It’s like my nightmares are coming to life. But everything’s okay when I’m with you.
–Love Tara.

Tara, It’s all good. Maryann is sending me to pick up 300 lbs. of meat. Should be a great B.B.Q. tonight! We’ll sort it all out afterwards!
-Love Eggs

Sookie reads the last post-it and puts it on top of the others. The doll is completely disassembled now and Sookie’s hands are empty. She realizes that Tara’s relationship with Eggs has evaporated just like the post-it doll. For the first time Sookie truly realizes what her best friend has lost. She finally lets the tears fall as she clasps her hands to her chest and gives into her mourning, not only for Eggs, but for the future that he and Tara will never share.

Screen Captures: James

James Frain is Keeping Busy

True Blood‘s Season 3 is only weeks away and James Frain is in hot demand. Episode 2 will introduce James as vampire Franklin Mott, a recurring role to help Tara forget her Eggs!

Coming from his stint on BBC’s The Tudors, when James is not on the True Blood set, he’ll be working on a new series for NBC called The Cape. The Live Feed on hollywoodreporter.com described The Cape as a comic book superhero who takes the law into his own hands. James has been cast as The Cape’s nemesis, a billionaire by the name of Peter Fleming who also happens to be a “twisted killer”.

Anxious to see how James‘ portrayal of Franklin Mott pairs up with our Tara Mae (Rutina Wesley)? Season 3 of True Blood begins on HBO January 13th.

Mehcad Brooks Interviewed by Clutch Magazine

“The fear of error is the death of success.” – Douglas Wilder

Mehcad BrooksThe above quote is the personal philosophy of one of True Blood’s talented young actor, Mehcad Brooks, who’s known for his quintessential performance for his short-lived character, “Eggs”, as revealed in his recent interview with Clutch Magazine.

In the interview, Mehcad confessed that he wanted to be an actor at the tender age of 15 after seeing an opera. Back in the day, he and his brother would watched Eddie Murphy’s Raw and Delirious everyday before their parents arrived. He said that he used to be a class clown and he figured he might get paid for it.

As young as he is as an actor, he has already faced his biggest challenge yet on his upcoming film entitled Fencewalker. His character, Salaam Alexander, has an innocence that Mehcad said he lost years ago. Moreover, he said it was tough portraying Salaam’s character since he was also devastated over  too many circumstances that were dealt with by his character during the duration of the film.

When asked what direction his career is  going, he humorously said,

“As long as I keep working I’m like a kid at Christmas. Or Chanukah, whichever holiday you get more presents on. I’m going to direct and produce one day and I’m writing and developing a romantic comedy at the moment.”

But as a person, Mehcad said that he is a simple guy who likes simple things in life. And the most important things in his life are family, health, and music. He said,

“I’m very close to my family and keep positive people in my life. I also love to meditate. It centers me and it’s a great way to relieve stress. I love being out in nature and traveling. Seeing the world firsthand forces you to understand how we are all interconnected and makes you more responsible about giving back to the Earth and protecting her gifts. And you can always find me on my guitar, on my Wii, and recently on a surfboard.”

Furthermore, Mehcad said that he has an outgoing personality and tries to live life to its fullest extent everyday (though he once again admitted that he is a nerd). And for him, being smart and educated is sexy.

On the other hand, he spoke about his experience on True Blood.

True Blood was an incredible experience. Exceptional writing. We were blessed enough to allow the human animal to run free in our performances with impunity.”

We will never see Mehcad as Eggs again and gone were the days of him and Tara’s whirlwind romance in True Blood. But Mehcad Brooks will surely illuminate every character he plays in the future.

Is Maryann A Maenad?

michelle_forbes

Greek Mythology defines Maenads as the female followers of Dionysus.  A literal translation of the name means “raving ones” In Wikipedia the Maenads are said to be inspired by Dionysus “into a state of ecstatic frenzy, through a combination of dancing and drunken intoxication. In this state, they would lose all self control, begin shouting excitedly, engage in uncontrolled sexual behavior, and ritualistically hunt down and tear animals (and sometimes men and children) to pieces, devouring the raw flesh. During these rites, the maenads would dress in fawn skins and carry a thyrsus, a long stick wrapped in ivy or vine leaves and tipped by a cluster of leaves, weave ivy-wreaths around their heads, and often handle or wear snakes.”
If you remember the first time we saw Maryann she was in the woods, naked carrying a staff which would be her “thyrsus”. In the previous two episodes of  True Blood we saw Maryann influence the patrons at Merlotte’s into an uncontrolled “frenzy” of dance, also putting a kind of aphrodisiac type spell over the crowd. Now the party at her house  in the third episode made the party at Merlotte’s seem tame.
In the following paragraph from the hermetic fellowship it describes many of Maryann’s personality traits.
“The Maenads are called nurses and foster mothers — they not only nurse and mother the young God (referring to Dionysus), but young animals in the forest as well.
They have the power to make the Earth bloom and the wild animals come to them.”

The same document also lists the power of maenads as such:
· To awaken the God
·    To run with the God
·    To share His attributes
·    To tame wild things by nursing them
·    To call forth water and wine and milk and honey from the Earth
·    To fight and not be harmed
·    To destroy
·    To prophesy

We have seen the nurturing side of  Maryann in her relationship to Tara and Eggs. These are two people who were strays of society to some degree, we learned Eggs was homeless and Tara never had a mother who was emotionally there for her needs, she was left her entire life to fend for herself then re-abandoned when her mother saw herself as “saved”.  We also saw Maryann‘s interaction (which more seemed like communication) with the pig at her house. Briefly we saw a picture at her pool which showed Pan with his human lover, maenads were known to be lovers of Pan and the Satyr which is described as a half man half goat creature.

The Question is why would she attack Sookie? Also why would she have killed Ms. Jeanette? The two things these women have in common is Tara. As for Ms. Jeanette I feel  Maryann believes she was avenging Tara , in her confrontation with Tara’s mother she may have not physically ripped Tara’s mother’s heart out but her words were meant to.  I am sure their is a whole other reason for her attack on Sookie we will have to watch more to find out(I love and HATE  that everything in this show is a cliffhanger.)

And watch out Tara this women may be nurturing when you are on her good side, the other side well  NOT so good.
