Sam Trammell stars as Sam Merlotte in HBO's True Blood Season 6, Episode 7, entitled 'In the Evening'In this sneak peek into HBO’s True Blood Season 6, Episode 7, entitled In the Evening, we find Sam Merlotte (played by Sam Trammell) phoning home. Lafayette then has the terrible task of informing Sam of Terry Bellefleur’s (Todd Lowe) demise.

Sam then decides to pack up Nicole (Jurnee Smollett-Bell) and ship her home to her mother’s rather than take her back to Bon Temps where it isn’t safe for her. The only problem is – it isn’t safe for Sam either!

Wolf Pack Scoop from Jamie Gray Hyder on True Blood Season 6:

Jamie Gray Hyder on True Blood Season 6: Alcide as Packmaster and Being part of the Wolf Pack

Alcide and Danielle via TrueBlood Online

Jamie Gray Hyder, who portrays werewolf Danielle on HBO’s True Blood, is having a really good time on her second season of True Blood. She talks about Danielle’s role in the wolf pack:

I think as her role on the show has increased so has her role in the pack. I think that she’s very much an opportunist. Last season, she was willing to do V and also other stuff to impress the pack leader who was in power. And, now there’s a new pack leader and she’s vying for his attention. I think that she just wants to go along and be part of what’s going on and prove that she’s a viable asset to the pack.

Hyder concedes Danielle will ingratiate herself with Alcide (Joe Manganiello), the new Packmaster:

I think [she’s] going to continue to do whatever [she] can to appear valuable to him and the dynamics of everybody kinda changes throughout the season as we continue.

In episode 2, Alcide and the wolf pack abduct Emma from Sam Merlotte (Sam Trammell), and they have an all-out fight, knocking out Sam and Layfayette (Nelsan Ellis) (who was babysitting Emma). As humans have declared war on vampires, does this fight signal another war between werewolves and shapeshifters? Hyder weighs in:

Definitely. I think that we have just opened up a whole can of worms with what happened. In taking Emma, we’ve now involving [sic] a whole other group of people in our lives and in the pack. There’s so much drama going on in the town that I think that a big issue for us was that choice.

You’ll just have to see how the season plays out because it’s definitely now causing a lot more people to interact with us. And we probably should keep to ourselves, but Emma’s a wolf and we feel that it’s important that she’s with us and her grandmother and with the pack.

Alcide was more than a little bit scary in the way he abducted Emma, throwing her over his shoulder while she screamed for help. Is he a totally different person now that he’s Packmaster? Hyder shares her viewpoint on Alcide:

I think [that being Packmaster] requires him to step up and show a little more aggression than usual to assert himself. And, in the case of Emma, we went to Sam’s with a mission and we knew we had to leave with her. We really do feel that she’s safest with us. So, even though Alcide’s aggression is there, it’s simply there to help others.

Hyder feels that because Emma is a wolf, she really should be part of that lifestyle, and Sam is not an appropriate caregiver for Emma.  So what does Hyder think about the wolves getting involved in the state of Louisiana’s war on vampires?

I think that we’re trying to keep to ourselves as best as possible. We’re trying to look out for our own, but there’s no doubt that with such a big conflict going on in Bon Temps and in the State of Louisiana that we’ll be able to stay out of the conflict.

The drama is getting bigger and better with the wolves and the shapeshifters, it’s not all about the vampires anymore! Viewers are looking forward to more supernatural drama in the rest of the season of True Blood.

True Blood’s Janina Gavankar to Star in CW Show “Arrow”

Check out what Sam’s lady love, Luna, will be up to in the near future:

janina-gavankar tv fanatic comSince HBO’s True Blood season 5 finale ended in multiple shocks, we still aren’t quite sure what will happen to Sam’s (Sam Trammell) love Luna, played by Janina Gavankar. Since she shifted into a human, usually a shapeshifter won’t live after. We saw this with Sam’s younger brother, Tommy (Marshall Allman).

What we do know is that it has been confirmed that Gavankar has secured a multi-arc role in the new CW show, Arrow. She will portray a vice cop described as “tough, sexy, and considerably formidable.”

What do you think, Truebies? Will we see Luna survive next season? Will you tune in to Arrow to see  Gavankar? To find out more, check out the link below!

Video: HBO Keeps True Blood Fans Eager For Season 5 with Teaser Clips

Waiting Sucks and HBO Keeps Fans Wanting More:

Season 5 poster RomanEarly in the life of its series True Blood, HBO hit upon the simple but clever tag line of ‘Waiting Sucks’. Now, as anticipation over the June 10th premiere of Season 5 grows, fans find that they ‘Crave More’. HBO has fueled the excitement with titillating teaser videos; some provide glimpses behind the scenes, while others are simply humorous promotion.

Two recently released teasers provide peeks into two separate story lines. Both videos give hints as to what to expect from characters and plot, while still managing to raise additional questions that make fans eager to tune in to the show.

One of these two recent videos features Sam (Sam Trammell) and Luna (Janina Gavankar). Sitting on a sofa, Luna cries while Sam tries to lend comfort. The dialog tells fans that someone has died mysteriously. An unexpected, unidentified sound captures their attention just as the scene ends on a menacing note. Who died? How did they die? Are Sam and Luna in danger, too? What was that sound?

What do you think?

Another recent teaser video has Terry (Todd Lowe) and Patrick (Scott Foley) being held at gunpoint and handcuffed. They know this person, but fans don’t – yet. The scene ends with the unknown character asking if anything had followed them there. Who is the new character? Why is he cuffing Patrick and Terry? What is it that might have followed them?

Any guesses?

HBO also uses humor in its teaser videos. ‘Don’t Cry, It’s Back’ uses bloody tears and scenes of character anguish to promote Season 5. The video is a montage of True Blood characters crying. The clips are assembled in a way that makes it seem they are sad over the lack of new True Blood episodes.

Which one is your favorite?

True Blood Season 5 Poster – Sam!

Less Than 30 Days to True Blood Season 5!

Sam Trammell Season 5 poster

The posters are out for the HBO True Blood stars for season five! There will be one for each actor and we at TrueBloodNet.com have decided to present one per post in order to give each its own top billing.  Bon Temps’ once friendly shifter and bartender, Sam Merlotte played by handsome Sam Trammell, turned into a mean drunk and a cranky boss in the last few seasons but who can blame him with having to compete with free drunken orgies that Maryanne threw and deal with his insane family including losing his emotionally broken brother Tommy last season. But thankfully, he also seems to be developing a great life beyond Merlotte’s bar with a group of fellow shifters. There’s even a spark of romance burning with Luna which can only mean fate, otherwise known as Alan Ball, is about to put its foot right up Sam’s butt. Can’t wait to see how things develop for Sam in season 5!

True Blood’s Sam Trammell in “Long Time Gone”

Sam Trammell Shooting an Independent Film:

Sam Trammell HBO promo S4Sarah Siegel-Magness, the producer of Precious, is making her directorial debut with her new indie film Long Time Gone— a screenplay adapted from the novel by April Stevens called Angel, Angel— a story that is about “a broken family who must cope when Gordie Iris (Anthony LaPaglia) leaves his wife, Augusta (played by Virginia Madsen), for another woman.”  Augusta’s two sons, who are helpless to their mother in this crisis, are played by Zach Gilford (from Friday Night Lights) and newcomer Graham Rogers until Bette, (played by Amanda Crew from Charlie St. Cloud) nonchalantly enters the scene and changes everyone’s perception of the situation.

Sam Trammell plays an insouciant landscaper who hits it off with Augusta, the mother, and hires one of her sons as a day laborer.  Director Sarah Siegel-Magness says, “The underlying message is that broken families doesn’t mean broken people.”  Filming is taking place in Los Angeles through the end of October.

True Blood’s Season 4 Finale Shocks Viewers

True Blood Finale Bloody Good or Just Bloody?

Sookie Cradles a Dying Tara in Her Arms HBO is famous for having some of the most extreme and riskiest shows on television. And what is True Blood most famous for? Being extremely bloody, that’s what. This season finale is no different. How did the finale end? In a bloody mess of course!

Many Truebies, including myself, aren’t happy with the weak way Marnie was dispatched. She stabbed and killed Jesus in order to acquire his brujo magic and then chained a shirtless Bill and Eric to burn at the stake when her reign of terror came to an end thanks to a number of Bon Temps ghosts led by Adele Stackhouse (Sookie’s Gran) and Antonia. Both joined together to convince Marnie to release her rage so she could rest in peace. I don’t know about you Truebies, but that seemed too easy to me.

Mark Roush, writer for TV Guide, said:

“With the Marnie dilemma ponderously resolved, and Gran’s Hallmark advice to Sookie (“Being alone… ain’t nothin’ to be afraid of”) interrupted by Eric’s droll “Excuse me, we’re feeling a little crispy up here,” there’s still half an episode to go. And does it ever pile it on.”

Sookie cuts both Bill and Eric out of her life making fans wonder if a certain were-tiger named Quinn will make an appearance next season.

What else happened on Sunday’s finale? Well, Steve Newlin appeared at Jason’s door bearing a nice set of shiny white fangs. Alcide discovered an empty hole in the cement garage where Russell Edgington was supposed to be entombed. While Sam was confronted by a snarling wolf, the ghost of Rene spooked Arlene by warning her that Terry’s new war buddy is up to no good. Nan Flanagan was staked by Bill just before Sookie was attacked by Debbie Pelt. Just when you think Debbie is going to shoot Sookie, Tara dives in front of her and is shot in the head. Sookie blows Debbie away and we are left with Sookie screaming for help as she cradles Tara’s lifeless body in her arms.

Is Tara dead? I guess we can’t believe anyone is dead, knowing True Blood’s infamous resurrections, until they are at least six feet under. Even then, considering the Russell Edgington situation, that’s barely a guarantee on True Blood.

True Blood’s Fashion Critiqued

Check Out Bon Temps’ Most Fashionable Inhabitants:

The vampires of True Blood by Art Streiber/HBOThe Fug Girls rated Louisiana’s craziest town not on the vampire to human ratio or the number of werewolves per pack, but on its fashion sense. Since Bon Temps didn’t do too hot, I guess it makes sense that while the whole town is fighting witches and being terrified of being eaten by vampires, fashion doesn’t seem to be at the top of the necessities list. As Lafayette would say, bitch please. Ten is the best score and one is the worst score.

Sookie Stackhouse: 5

A girl cannot live on tiny frocks and booty shorts alone. We suggest Sookie Netflix the middle seasons of Buffy to learn how to incorporate more vampire-friendly separates into her wardrobe. As if she didn’t have enough to do — being the possessor of magical blood, and the beloved of nearly every supernatural man-creature within thirty miles – Sookie also sometimes has to, gasp, wait tables.

Bill Compton: 6

We are amused by Bill going full Men’s Warehouse on us, but… seriously, dude? A pinky ring? Leave Joe Pesci in My Cousin Vinny where he belongs.

Eric Northman: 4

He has spent this entire season dressed like he’s frozen in time as a college student shuffling to the dorm showers. Pull it together, dude, or at least invest in a hoodie with sleeves.

Pam de Beaufort: 9

Pam is perhaps the only person in the Bon Temps area who cares what she’s wearing. And, as such, she’s never met a dubious trend she didn’t try to resurrect (a Juicy sweat suit? Really?), which we imagine is because a century of shopping gets pretty boring after a while. Hello, the woman managed to pull off a red sequined jumpsuit last seen on the set of Dynasty, and she actually cares when viscera lands on her shoes.

Jason Stackhouse: 7

Naked man-abs are awfully effective when it comes to the ladies, which is generally his driving concern in life. When he’s not looking totally CHiPs in his snug police uniform and aviators, Jason wears solely jeans and T-shirts. And sometimes not even the T-shirts. Nor the jeans. (We’re not complaining.)

Tara Thornton: 5

Like Sookie, Tara could benefit from mixing it up on occasion. Bonus points, though, for being smart enough to always wear something she can run in, given that she tends to get kidnapped or held hostage, like, a lot. In fact, we should’ve listed that as one of her hobbies.

Sam Merlotte: 6

We appreciate a man who can rock a good pair of jeans, and indeed, along with a plaid shirt, that is basically all Sam wears. Except for when he’s a dog, at which point his lumberjack couture is too constricting. We like Sam’s Regular Guy look, but points off for the fact that you just know his clothes are mega-funky, given how he’s always taking them off in the woods and leaving them in the dirt while he turns into some animal or another. At least invest in a gym bag or some potpourri sachets.

Alcide Herveaux: 10

We don’t know what he does when he’s not walking around shirtless, and nor do we care. His abs? Don’t mess with perfection.

Jessica Hamby: 7

Any sundress in a ten-mile radius not in Sookie’s closet must therefore be found in Jessica’s. Her girlish aesthetic is totally appropriate given that she’s the vampire equivalent of a college freshman. This current season has seen her get a little, er, nastier, and with that, we’ve seen Jessica’s wardrobe swing slightly sexier — but only slightly. Most of the time, she could still pop into a sorority meeting without anyone batting an eye.

Hoyt Fortenberry: 4

Well, right now he’s depressed, so it’s mostly boxers in front of the TV. The rest of the time, Hoyt looks like he tripped and fell into the Old Navy warehouse. Poor Hoyt. Someone’s going to need to take this boy out for the time-honored post-break-up makeover and spruce him up a little.

Lafayette Reynolds: 8

Lafayette never met a head scarf he didn’t embrace. He may also be the only man in Bon Temps who’s familiar with the concept of premium denim. Yes, Lafayette is a campy, over-the-top dresser, but at least he commits. And he never makes us sad, even when he’s incubating the soul of a dead woman who may or may not be a demon baby-stealer, which is no small feat.

Arlene Fowler: 3

Oh, honey. We know your son might be possessed by an evil spirit (or something?) but there’s no excuse for that hair. Call Miss Clairol and make an appointment to return to planet Earth.

Maxine Fortenberry: 2

Maxine depends completely on the power of a well-deployed muumuu. In the absence of a muumuu, a housecoat is acceptable. Often accessorized by hair curlers. If it’s true that you only look as good as you feel, then Mrs. Fortenberry must feel terrible.
