To cut to the chase here, IMO you have to understand that the popularity and irresistabilty of the Sookie and Bill relationship is the “forbidden love” aspect of it. It was the same for Tony and Maria in West Side Story, for Catherine and Vincent in B&B, for Bella and Edward in, well you know. They all touch some primitive emotional attraction that women identify with and all owe homage to the original: “Romeo and Juliet.”

Thank You,Nia I enjoyed reading your post as well. Very Thoughtful and Evocative. I agree with you. This IS WHY I feel So drawn to the show and to them. These are Real people with Real issues and problems! It just goes to show you that No 1 is Perfect! We ALL have our problems..our own issues!
For Some their “disability” “handicap” maybe substance abuse
For others,traumatic memories of sexual abuse Yet still for others it may be Clinical Depression or Bipolar Disorder.
These Are Often marginalized and spend Much of Their Lives looking for what Bill and Sam are seeking!!
Many also struggle with Eating Disoders and Body Immage problems.
Both Young Women AND Young Men!
WE ALL Want to be accepted…Be loved for Who We Are NOT for what Society/People Would Like Us To Be!!
I think that Alan Ball is a Genius for that!!
I think that Sookie could see the “inner conflict” in him.
Sommehow she could “see” that he was troubled that he felt bad about who who he was and that he wanted desperately to “fit in” as you So Marvelously expressed,Nia!!
She may Not have been able to hear his thoughts But I think that she Was able to Read him! If She did not get this vibe from him I don’t think she would have been This interested in meeting him! As for Sam,I guess We will never know. How long did she work for him? Did they grow up together? Did She and Jason and Him Go to High school together?? Remember in season 2
When Sam was getting ready to “fly the coop” Soookie says to him
“Sam,I cant believe that you would throw away All those years of Friendship between us Over this??
Then she tells him she needs to be away for a week or so ~~ she had to go to Dalllas with Bill and Jessica.
He said something “Go where you want I won’t be here when you get back!”
She then asked “Sam,Whats Wrong?” “Are you still upset about that thing with Bill?”
He said sometthing like “Dammit,Sookie I’ve got aa lot of shit to deal with,Its Not about You!”
Who knows? Maybe Eric is troubled,too We may find That out in time.
Jason and Tara are definitely troubled especially Now that he shot Eggs! I think it would be cool for those 2 to get together!

Wow, antonio, I really enjoyed your post. Nice comparison to B&B.
I agree with you completely. Like you, my favorite is Bill. He is like a wounded beast, a tragic lonely figure, looking for acceptance, friendship and love. Trying to “fit in” despite his abnormality, deformity, handicap???? It took his realizaton of his love for Sookie to help make this possible for him. Before that I think he was just “existing”.
Sam would be, also, my next choice. A lonely person, also afraid of his “handicap”. Looking for love and someone to share his life with. My question is if Sookie was working for him so long, why did he not try sooner to get closer to her? If she was interested in him why did she not make the first move like she did with Bill (she also kissed him first)?
In this I believe that Sookie must inevitably choose a vampire. If for nothing else other than she cannot hear their thoughts. My choice would be Bill. Life would be more at peace for her.
BUT, what about getting old while a vampire stays forever young? What about children? So much to consider, yet I believe that where there is true love all can be accomplished!

I like Sam and Eric..But Bill IS My favorite..For All the reasons mentioned above! Plus in this day and age, it seems that Anti-Heroes are very popular. Maybe even more than “super”
heroes? Who would You rather be rescued by Bill Compton OR Spiderman?? more like Spidergeek!! LOL 🙂 🙂

Hi Leslie,Nia Lizzie I don’t know if any of you remember a show called Beauty & The Beast. I think Leslie does. Anyway, This show Was Also driven by a great and deep love story component. Last night I watched the very first episode of B&B ~~~ All 3 seasons are availabe now on dvd ~~~ This show Was So powerful emotionally.I remember it was My Favorite show at the time. Vincent the man/beast and Catherine’s story was truly inspiring and profoundly moving! My point is Not since then Have I been SO moved by a tv show! True Blood IS Awesome!!
Its NOT Just about Vampires and bloodlust and their “sex lives”
Its about People Their lives Their stories Their battles
Sam Merlotte Is a Hero,NOT because of Money Or Power Or Authority

If Any of you have seen the show, Vincent would read Poetry,Sonnets and write letters to her proclaiming his love and devotion for her. Who ccan forget this opening line from the show? “He comes from a Secret place,Far Below the city streets,hiding his face from strangers Safe from hate and harm
He brought me there to save my life and Now Whereever I Go He Is With Me in spirit For WE have a bond that Is Stronger THAN Friendship OR Love and though We Cannot Be Together WE will NEVER EVER Be Apart”
This show always stirred me. I always thought it was So sad!
A Love that could never be and yet somehow was.
I get That feeling from Bill and Sookie’s relationship!
Bill becomes the new “Vincent” and I suppose that would make Sookie Catherine.
Vincent and Catherine could never walk out in the sunshine of day Because Of his “deformity” he might scare people or attract unwanted attention. They had to meet at night in secret.
Soookie and Bill could Never walk through the park on a beautiful spring day out in the sunshine,Either Because He is a Vampire! He could Never see how the sunlight looks in her hair,how it lights up her face.He could never hold her close in bed as the sun streams into the room.
Both Bill and Vincent are/were tragic figures
I think This maybe WHY AB chose to portray Show Bill different from Book Bill. Perhaps he saw in him a wounded tragic desperate man seeking to redeem himself somehow.
I just dont get That Vibe from ERIC!!!
Eric,it seems doesnt care what happens or Who he hurts as long as he can gets His Needs Met!! WHY would Sookie want a guy like That!! Even after 19 years B&B still packs an emotional punch! Vincent protected his beloved Catherine Bill and Sam have protected Sookie as well. Which I s why i’m concerned about the first few episodes of Season 3 Without Bill OR Sam to protect her Sookie is left defenseless Does That mean she can be stalked by Eric? Lorena? The Queen? Werewolves?
TB is also about love,hope and maybe even forgiveness and acceptance. It IS a Wonderful show!
Both Bill And Eric are the Coolest Vampires out there!

An acquaintance of mine, middle aged man who is a very cultured and celebrated conducter, but who also loves popular culture, has never watched TB, but knew Stephen Moyer and said he is definitely attracted to him. So go Team Bill! You can definitely be the MVP.

Antonio, my friend, you are in luck. HBO is re-running S1 NOW! I saw it on the side bar here that it started this Saturday (10/17), but my TV Guide mag shows that it started last Saturday and the 2nd episode is this Saturday at 9:00 PM EST on HBO2. Don’t know where you are, but check it out!

I like to think of myself as More of a Sam Or Bill. While I may not have Jason’s physique or athletic abilities on the field, I Do like to think I have many of the qualities that make Both Sam And Bill So desirable! Qualities such as Honesty,Loyalty,Compassion Integrity Self Confidence, Altruism
The way I see you can either take Style OR Subtance…The choice is Yours!! Jason Stackhouse may be like a Corvette Or a Porsche,Its popular and “dreamy” Until it breaks down on you!
Sam Merlotte is More like an SUV Reliable,Dependable Good for family. Would you want a car For Show OR would you want a vehicle you could Actually get some use out of??
I’m probably more like Billl..Troubled,Brooding but can be Very Kind and Loving Things move him deeply and he is very intelligent. Bill is just SO Real! He knows he is unworthy of her love but he’s devoted to her,Anyway!
Maybe Sam could be on OUR Team and Team Eric can have Jason!!

OK I just streamed a 3 minute video trailer of season 1. I’ll admit it Has piqued my interest. I guess I can rent it somewhere or maybe borrow a copy. I looked for a video traailer for season 2 But I could only find promos and sneek peaks.
I had spoken with someone and they had told me to watch the first season and that it would answer All my questions.
I laughed my butt off when i saw a part where Sookie is trying to read Jason and he’s like “Hey,Don’t try That Shit on Me,I’m Your Brother!” This show is So Cool!!

OK, OK, I can plainly see that you are a big fan of TB and so you have my undying admiration – any fan of TB gets a pass in my book! However, you really must watch S1 in its entirety for many reasons, but if for no other than to see one of the most moving, emotionally wrenching scenes ever filmed IMO (it involves a pecan pie). Also on re-viewing, I understood why Anna won the Golden Globe for her role as Sookie. The tone is a bit different than S2 & it’s widely thought that the series hit its stride in Episode 5. As an aside, your comments about sexual preferences in TB, they are all over the place, but I am led to believe that Alan Ball is gay (Stephen Moyer interview), which makes a lot of sense, so anything possible, but don’t overthink it. Once again, I will ask the question Bill & Maryann ask Sook: “What are you?” Tongue in cheek.

Well This just my wacky sense of humor.It may not be for everyone. As TB may not Also be for everyone. My cousin is a grown woman and she is Not into it. Watching some1 with binoculars just seems wierd to me! If You have Ever seen a film called The Owl and the Pussycat with Barbara Streisand and George Segal…Babs says something similar in the film
“With the naked eye its One thing But With THESE things its Just Disgusting!” She was talking about him watching her with binoculars.
I certainly did not mean to imply that terry had a “man-crush” on Sam…But then again We Dont rightly know either.
Terry just might be gay…Not everyone is as open with their sexuality as Lafayette is. It was just a Joke.
We ARE talking about a show ABOUT Vampires who may be the Only creatures who can get away with ambiguous sexuality! Look at Queen Sophie-Ann for 1 Her character IS Bisexual.
As I have said I HAVE seen Most of season 2!!
And I’m getting caught up On demand.
And Yes I Am a Huge TB fan!!

I Have seen Most,if not All of season 2! I Am a Big Fan of the show! I Do Have HBO Most of what I Had seen of season 1 was in short little parts~~channel surfing and what not.
I think that Season 2 is Very good. Of Course, there were things I didnt care for too much..Like the whole Maryann getsthe whole town crazy,Makes Tara and Eggs eat boiled heart..Yikes!
puts bull head on and does crazy ritual with orgies of naked people under her control But I muust admit It Was great writing and it certainly Was never boring!
Its True,I have Not seen Most of season 1 However I Have seen a documentary program on HBO On Demand about The MAKING OF Season 1 I feel that counts for Something.
Thats How I know about All these scenes. Plus there is Always Youtube where I Can stream video clips from Seasons 1 Or 2.

Wow, antonio, what ever type (O positive, O negative,….)of True Blood you’re drinking, I want some.
Whoa, you make me laugh but there are times where you are really out there……LOL
I agree with Leslie, you really need to see the entire first season. There is so much more going on.
Sam and Sookie only made out once and it turned out badly.
Terry may have been screwed up by the army but I am pretty sure he is heterosexual. Then again you never know. He just happened to see Sam running through the woods, probably right after a shift.
Hey Leslie I think you and I definitely love our Bill! How about we be co-captains!!! I could live with that!

Nia I was moved by your post! Just Wonderful! You sound So passionate about the show And Bill,Which is Cool because He is My favorite character,too! With regards to Sam, I thought the same thing! She worked for him for several years and she never thought of dating him? I hadn’t seen that much of season 1,So I streamed some clips online …I can’t believe Sookie Made Out with Sam So Much!
No Wonder the poor guy was So frustrated!! LOL For someone who was unsure of what or Who she wanted, She certainly smooched with him a lot!!! Its like shes saying “I Like You Sam But I Love Bill…Kiss Me~~~What the Heck is That ALL About??!

Don’t ever feel as if you need to make apologies for being an Eric fan? We all have our favorites and love them!
I adore Erics character and have much respect for Alex Skarsgard. He was perfctly cast as Eric, just as no other could be Bill Compton than the wonderful Stephen Moyer.
Getting back to the show, Sookie was drawn to Bill the moment he walked into Merlottes. It seemed as if they had a connection, and that was before she even realized she could not read his thoughts. Then she of course saves him, realizes she can’t hear him, he is kinda put off by her, probably because he does not trust humans, epecially after what happened. Then he is trying to figure out what she is. He feels she is different. Of course we have see if Alan goes the way of the books……
As to the dreaming of having sex with him, you can try to give any reason you want. What we know is that she felt something with him. She could have saved anyone from anything. That doesn’t necessarily mean she would dream about having sex with them. She worked at Merlottes for years (?) and for example, she never thought of a relationship with Sam. Although I think that other than Bill being her soul mate (just what I feel, in my opinion), Sam would be my second choice!
We really do not know what Alan Ball has up his sleeve for the upcoming seasons, but whatever it is, He has my total support and I will always be grateful for True Blood.

I disagree with you Missy about Sookie and Bill. Let’s just say we can agree to disagree. Secondly, Ideally Sookie Should fina nice human to date I would agree. Do you remember the 1st episode BEFORE She met Bill, These human guys she dated Only wanted 1 thing from her..sex! Recall when she read that guy’s mind it was Smut! Most of those guys in that backwoods town were crude. Even Sam made a comment Sam:How’s your night goin?
Sookie: Ok,I guess Sam:Can I make it better for ya!! I thought Whoa! can you be a little more subtle there Sammy??
He may as well have said he wanted to get under her apron!
I had discussed this before here, At Some point Sookie may have to decide what she wants to do with her life. As you say she cannot remain with Bill indefinitely because she will grow old and die. On the other hand would she really want to give up mortality and become a bloodsucker just to be with him??
Would she feel the same way about him if he “killed” her??
Eric would probably want to drain her just for his own sick pleasure so that he could have another waitress at Fangtasia and utilize her mind reading ability. He is Selfish so i dont see a great love happening there..Thenn again I dont know.
At some point Bill would probably beg her to let him make her a vampire So she could be with him for always.
Picture something like This::
Bill: Sookie,Please Let me Turn You! You’d Only grow old and die and that would break my heart,Darlin’!
Sookie: No! I would miss my family, My brother,my friends, My life!!

That is exactly what I was wondering myself. I like Sookie’s relationship with Bill, and I would love to see an eventual relationship develop between Sookie and Eric also, but since they are both vampires I wonder how that is going to work. From the show I assumed that Sookie never wants to turn into a vampire. Or at least that is what I thought she said, I could be wrong. I know Sookie and Bill love each other, but no matter how much you love someone, it doesn’t mean that the relationship will succeed. She did accept his proposal though, so maybe she is ok with it? She did hesitate at first. I guess we will find out in season 3, I can’t wait.

Yes that may be true, but Sookie’s attraction was primarily that as she is different she was not afraid of him so much, also she could not read his thoughts, unlike Humans!!

She dreamt of having sex with him because she did something noble in saving him from the Rattrays and yes he was different, the attraction was that he is different!

I’m an Eric fan through and through and make no apologies.

She is a romamtic and it would, could have been with anyone who had walked into Merlottes, who was not a “Redneck” so to speak, she is a small time Waitress (nothing wrong with watiressing), who needed some excitment and Bill is/was it.

Sookie and Sam, still not sure, she needs to find a Human to fall in love with difficult we know, but having a family with Sam, could prove problematic!

Missyella, if you go back to the first epi of season one, you will see that Sookie was drawn to Bill from the first time he walked into Merlottes. They were drawn to each other.
Sookie dreamed of wanting sex with Bill BEFORE she had his blood. Why is it Eric fans do not remember this?

As for Tara, I think that Jason would be good for her.Not only is the inter-racial aspect provacative but they Both have Many of the same issues!! Abandonment,Grief over a lost Love,Self Loathing! It would be So cool to see Them get together.
I think that Sam belongs with someone who is either a Shifter like He is Or a Vampire….Since he is different from most folks,too! Perhaps if there is a Sexy Female Were Next year??

Sookie does not stray, she is loyal and will be conflicted about her relationship with Bill.

Just how are they going to have this wonderful love affair, she will age, fall ill and eventually die.

Is he prepared for this, is she prepared to live her life this way, remember she is young 26-27.

A good love affair is all well and good but what is to be the outcome.

I don’t envy Allan Ball and his team at all!!

But she will have to decide eventually, life in the here and now or to forever walk the earth undead as Bill’s life companion, if he makes her his Child, by turning her!!

Ok Let me say this..Without the ongoing,undying love dynamic of the Vincent-Catherine relationship,The show was Never the same!
Once the writers messed around with the David-Maddie relationship ~~~And They did Too Much!!~~~ Moonlighting was Never the same…Irregardless of How the writers tried to recapture the original magic! I dont know to What effect it would have on TB is Bill and His Beloved Sookie were forced apart by the writers. 1 thing though,Mr.Ball is very talented
I’m sure he will write intriguing and provocative story lines that will keep us coming back for Months!!
If Sookie does stray or becomes involved with someone else Who knows if it would last beyond the “affair” phase!!
Bill Compton Is NOT just an affair for her!! This is the real deal! A realationship that is based primarily on sex or getting needs met is NOT the same thing as a deep and lasting love relationship. She may give her body to Alcide or Eric but her heart i believe will Always belong to BILL!!!
I’m sure AB and the writers know what they’re doing.

I can’t believe you just referenced two of my all time favorite series (“what ARE you?”), so I’m dating myself, too. Excellent examples of what can go so wrong. In the case of TB, I am really putting my faith in Alan Ball (aren’t we all) and his close hand picked writers and directors, for their genious, savy,and commitment to this show, NOT to disappoint us and keep true to the characters while creating great drama. There is a lot of pressure here, but I have faith!

All i know from the Books I have read, (yes I know the show has deviated somewhat).

That Vampires cannot breed at all, remember they are “dead” and having a baby with a Were, Shifter is fraught with danger for any Human, so Sookie, which ever way she chooses will either decide to become Vampire, or risk misscarrying a child/children in the hope of being a Mother.

All this for love, because she cannot be with a Human like normal people.

Having said that she is part Fae, so you never know!!!!

Well Spoken,Jay Sometimes, In a dramatic series things will happen that not everyone will appreciate. Case In Point, When the last season of Beauty and The Beast aired after months of keeping the fans waiting~~~this was about 20 years ago Wow! dated huh? LOL Many of the fans of the show Did NOT like where the writers went with it! Catherine was tortured and mudered Vincent her man-beast protector/lover could no longer sense when she was in danger because of a “virus” he had at the end of season 2. I Certainly Did NOT like that storyline!!
He lost the love of his life and spent the next season~~If You can Call it That~~ Grieving,Coming apart and looking for revenge
This was Not the Vincent viewers had come to know and love I suppose. I thought it was just Cruel and Mean!!
I’m Hoping that as subsequent seasons air on HBO the writers of TB do not get “ansy” and want to off principle characters for better ratings as was done in the Sopranos!!
Some series began to unravel after 3 years Like Moonlighting for example Remember that 1?? Cybill Shepherd Bruce Willis?
That show was pretty big in the ratings at 1 time. But the constant bantering back and forth and the writers indecision about what to do with their relationship became annoying!!
True Blood is a Great show!! Great Tv!! Let’s give AB and the writer’s a chance to entertain,move and provoke us once again.

At the end of the day this is a drama. AB is always going to look for the most dramatic way to tell the story. Thats the nature of the beast. He will always look at the most interesting way to develop and explore all the characters. As fans we always have to keep this in mind.
I love the books, but I love the show too. Keeping the two separate has meant I am able to appreciate and enjoying both in their own way, and I always will.

We certainly have a diversity of opinion here. I have observed that you Team Eric fans sure are loyal and a bit obsessed maybe? That’s OK We Team Bill fans can be like that as well.
As I’m Sure those for Team Sam are,too. Many here are assuming that if Sookie goes to Anyone Else,Other than Bill, It will automatically be Eric..How Do We Know?? The books and the series are quite a bit different,As I’m given to understand.
Suppose its NOT Eric?? Suppose its Alcide? Quinn? Another as yet to be named Vampire? Were? Shifter?? As I’ve heard that next year Sam may Not be the Only shifter in town.
I read Sookie should be with Eric No Ideally, Sookie Should be with Whomever SHE Chooses!! I can respect if youare a fan of AS But let the writers do their job and sit back and enjoy the ride like the rest of us.

I guess I missed something in the books or it happens in the last 2 Charlaine has written, because it definitely has not been about a Sookie/Eric relationship. I thinks you just want to see more of AS as Eric. That’s OK, he’s great, but a real romantic connection with Sookie would be so WRONG for his character and hers. AB is not about to “jump the shark” for all you Eric fans.

I did not have HBO, but couldn’t pick up that phone fast enough to order it after watching S1 on DVD in time for the S2 premiere. They had a 3-month promo for free, which got me through the season, so was meant to be! Are you on any forums?

I totally agree with u Antonio.
I do believe everyone needs to be able to grow, develope, search and progress into who they are and what they feel in order to know what makes them happy, sad, angry and etc.
I mean without trying new experiences then how can u expect to be making ACTUAL decisions. In that aspect i do believe Sookie should be able decides what is best and makes her truely happy. And if that require Bill and her to seperate then let that be. Maybe she will learn the differences and the response of guys…Eric, Alcide, and Quinn. Maybe later she learns more about Bill whilst she is living her life single or not and eventually learns that her love and happiness still lies with Bill or maybe not.
Most love life will begin soo passionate, intimacy, and etc like it is for Bill and Sookie BUT as time drives on, as circumstances changes… so does our decision which lead to consequences that affects each other… So maybe Bill seems fabulous at the start but later we may start to see the real him like he had a purpose to meet Sookie and does it deceitfully and doesn’t tell her the truth; being aware that she is naive and taking advantage of it.
I mean Sam cares for her and obviously shows it all the way since she started working there (he has seen her thoroughly)… Eric is bold and is real masculine and harsh at times but we start to learn (end of Season 2) that underneath all that… he isn’t so bad… he has his loyal side. Which definitely shows that when it comes to his love and close ones then it’s priority above his business, money and political life.
I do agree To Nia that Bill and Sookie passion is definitely something that drives us to watch more. But if u notice… there’s an urge of fascination and curiosity when Eric enters the picture…? So maybe not everything can turn out to be A-B … but rather A-B/E… OR a-???… WE are never settled to make one decision in life. Besides, it depends on our level of commitment, effort to maintain the decision we made.
Anyway, as long as Alan keep his mind open then i’m sure the show would be enjoyable.

I believe this show, like the books, is an exploration of Sookies inner and sexual growth, as well as a soul searching. So much is new to her since she met and started a relationship with Bill.
As much as many do not want to see her “cheating”, having her explore her sexuality is ineviable. I trust Alan to do this tastefully.
Whats really important is the realization of True Love and keeping that alive.
In a real world where love and marriage last about as long as your average tv season. Lets see if we can keep this a love story of Bill and Sookie. Their love has had so many obstacles to overcome already, lets see it endure, because it IS beautiful and never boring.

I agree completely. Bella Swan had a similar quandry in the Twilight books.In Book 3 Eclipse(My Fave of the 4)Bella must decide Who she will spend her life/existence with. She had So much to gain from choosing Jake….being part of a tribe,family,children,being close to home Plus the ultimate thing She could remain Alive and Not have to sacrifice Anything for her love for Jake! She had to makea choice
She had to think about All that she would give up to be with Edward forever…She would lose Everything Her parents,her friends, Her mortal life…it was a lot to give up.
Bella chose Edward and “life” as a Vampire and living with Vampires as one of them.
It was a difficult decision But she was sure she wanted to be with Edward who was in fact her true love.
As for kids? well Unlike TB or the SS Novels She Did become pregnant with Edward’s vampire hybrid offspring.
It was before she became a vampire.
So It will be quite interesting to see Sookie involved with others. We will see if this will strengthen her relationship with Bill. As Being with Jacob Black Only made Bella’s devotion to Edward grow. She loved them both in a different way.
Sookie needs to have her love for Bill tested Otherwise how can she know its real?? She did Not say Yes immediately to Bill she needed some time to think which shows Me She may Not be ready for That kind of commitment. Who knows? Perhaps this willl bring them closer together? farther apart?
Besides,arent you assuming that ANY relationship Sookie has,Other than Bill, is motivated by lust and control??
Sam cared for her Very Much That was Not a powerplay!
Perhaps Alcide or even Eric will actually Feel something Real for her! We don’t know anything at this point.
To say No 1 can love her the way Bill does Well We Dont Know THAT Do WE?
Perhaps, Alcide or Even Eric could love her more!!

First of All, I know there are those who thought the cliff-hanger seemed contrived and sugary.I am Not 1 of those people!
I can recall 1 person writing “Are we watching True Blood or are we watching Steph & Anna’s engagement party?” I know there were probably some who may have felt like this. I thought it was a nice touch and very sweet to show B&S actually spend some time together in a Non-Sexual,Non Bloodsucking way.
While I was kind of surprised that he asked her to marry him and of course she had to make up her mind,I thoought it was a good way to pique interest for next year. I’m sure we will be talking about it for Months to Come! Isnt That what Good TVis ALL about??? I thought it was particularly moving when he held her for a while before the sun came up. Their love is what drives the show. Although I would rather see her with sommeone like Sam,I must admit her passion for Bill and his for her are what keep the show going. I agree with Nia…The show IS about Sookie AND Bill…Maybe the Books are not but This Is the Show!!
AB does an incredible job!! Now If Only he could find true love for Sam? for Jason? For Tara? Maybe even for Eric or is he too much of a Hardass?? 🙂

I understand what you are saying Lizzie, but I still kinda want Sookie to explore other relationships, not just with Eric, but with Alcide and Quinn too. I know the books and the show are different, and I hate comparing the two since they are different, but I enjoyed watching her mature and try to figure out what she wants in a relationship and in life. Does she want kids? What about aging? Can she really have a relationship with a vampire? She needs to figure what she wants in life, and I always saw her other relationships help her in figuring out what she wants. But who knows what Alan Ball is going to do? I think that is the reason why True Blood is fun, because anything can happen. If Sookie and Bill do break up, then I hope Bill doesn’t disappear like he does in the books. I love his character in the show, which is funny because I don’t like him much in the books. Alan did a great job with Bill, and making him a likable character.

I must have turned more than 20ish people to True Blood (the benefit of 3 part time jobs, more people to talk to). Many do not have HBO, so I have True Blood parties, let them borrow my DVDs, send them info filled e-mails and I tell them to check out these wonderful forums.
I am passionate about this show and will continue to get the “word out” in always a positive manner.
I have had a few tell me that they may order HBO just for this show! How incredible is that? And in this economy, every little bit extra can be a hardship. I
I must be a good talker or maybe just a royal pain in the AS@!!

Yes, it will be interesting how much of the books AB will take. I do hope he DOES NOT go the Eric/Sookie way, as that would soil the beautiful relationship Bill and Sookie share. They are not boring! People meet and fall in love – does this mean all relationships become boring and there has to be infidelity?? What is wrong in having two people stay together who love each other and would do anything to protect their love? What is wrong with our world when flightiness wins out?? How boring are other people’s lives that they love to see couples breakup so that they can have sex with someone else? If AB is going the true love way – good on him for daring to be different! Love – Bring it on!!

I have turned 2 people onto TB, one of whom can’t wait to get my S1, 2 final episodes tomorrow and knows she has to catch up on S2 on HBO ON Demand before 10/12 (her husband has actually starting watching with her!). I have read the books but have told them both they don’t have to, to appreciate it. As readers of the books we have inside information and as I’ve said before, they are the blueprint for Alan Ball but where he goes with it, nobody knows. Which makes it very exciting and the wait for it, TORTURE!

Star, you would be surprised how many people have NOT read and will not read the books. so this is news to them.
Out of everybody I know and all those (there are quite a few) who I have “turned” onto the show, no one has read the books. I was able to get one young women to borrow my set, no one else is interested in the books, but they love the show!

well if it stays semi- true to the books, it will be a very interesting and more in depth season. but they are kinda wandering away from the book a little, I just hope that Allen stays true to the series and adds his own twists. True Blood is a great show and i cant wait till next year!!!

True love for Tara? I’m still hoping it will be Sam. But I hear there will be some developments with Jason?

“Bill and Sookie’s relationship will be put to a test.” I think this is necessary. Something needs to shake up their peace to keep their relationship interesting. I liked them together (they’re sweet!), but at the same time I’m excited for what this means for Eric and Sookie.
