True Blood’s Joe Manganiello Appears on AMC’s Talking Dead

February 18, 2013

The True Blood Star is a Walking Dead Fan:

Joe Manganiello (Alcide in HBO's True Blood) on AMC's Talking DeadAs we reported last week, True Blood actor Joe Manganiello made his appearance on AMC’s Talking Dead last night. He appeared alongside The Walking Dead’s graphic novel creator and executive producer of the AMC program, Robert Kirkman. Later in the show he was joined by Lew Temple, who plays ex-con Axle, in The Walking Dead.

Joe Manganiello (who plays Alcide Herveaux in HBO’s True Blood) was quick to point out that he has been a long time fan of the Robert Kirkman graphic novels and offered many great insights into what occurred in Episode 10 of The Walking Dead. Joe stayed for the whole program and there was plenty of light-hearted banter between him and the co-host, Chris Hardwick.

There was even a True Blood question (of sorts) for Joe Manganiello when one person tweeted asking: “If a vampire bit a zombie would it become a zombie or would the zombie become a vampire?” Joe’s response was (after having to do the math):

“Zombie stays zombie…well in Season 1 of True Blood there was a big thing about this Hepatitis D that the vampires were catching. So I would like to think that they would catch some form of disease from the still blood inside them. I think they [the vampires] would get an upset stomach.”

Chris Hardwick wanted to debate the effects of zombie bites on vampires and vice versa, but unfortunately the show only goes for an hour, and they had to move along.

And move along they did, right into the ‘Dead Yourself’ app. Joe was happy to dead himself and here is the result:

Did anyone else catch this episode? What was your favorite part?

Make sure you visit the Talking Dead website this week as the video of the episode have not been loaded yet. Eventually you will be able to view them here.

Carrie Preston Talks About Season 6 of True Blood

February 16, 2013

Season 6 Has More Characters in Store:

Carrie Preston stars as Arlene Fowler in HBO's True BloodCarrie Preston has been very busy of late. While Arlene is returning to HBO’s True Blood for Season 6, Preston also has a recurring role on The Good Wife this year. While there was very little Carrie Preston was allowed to say during her phone interview to The Huffington Post about the story lines in Season 6 of  True Blood, there were still a few tasty snippets:

It still has the flavor of “True Blood,” as it always will, but it does have something — a little spring in its step in an interesting way, I think. Everybody is finding the new chemistry between all of that and all those players. And of course, with “True Blood,” there’s always still a million new characters that are being introduced. I don’t know how they keep that many balls in the air and continue to juggle, but they do.

Besides True Blood and The Good Wife, Preston will be appearing along side her real life husband, Michael Emerson, in Person of Interest. In this role, she will be playing Emerson’s love interest.

UPDATE: Title Change for Episode 3 (Season 6) of HBO’s True Blood

February 8, 2013

‘Rock Hard Times’ Gets a New Name:

HBO's True Blood Black Promo PosterRecently, True Blood Net reported that Episode 3, Season 6 of HBO’s True Blood would be titled ‘Rock Hard Times’. As is the case with television shows that are evolving as they are written and filmed, SpoilerTV has reported a name change. Episode 3 will no longer be known as ‘Rock Hard Times’, but has been retitled as ‘Abducted’.

Along with this name change, there is another casting call. HBO are on the look out for someone to play the recurring guest role of Dr. Overlark. This character is 50-years-old and a ruthless advisor to the Governor, Creighton Burrell (played by Arliss Howard). Along side this role, they are also keen to find someone to fill the role of Hido Takahashi. Hido is another a 50-year-old, but one who likes to talk about himself!

Besides these recurring roles, HBO are also looking for a guest role. Maggie is a 35-year-old woman who is pregnant and thinks her husband has run off with another woman. And, finally, they are looking for co-star roles in the form of two police deputies who have to search a cabin.

So many tasty morsels here. Why was Episode 3’s name changed? And who are all these interesting new characters? At least it will give us something to think about until HBO announces the start date for True Blood.

Kristina Anapau Talks About Being a Fairy in HBO’s True Blood

February 7, 2013

Find Out What’s in Store for the Fairies in Season 6:

Kristina Anapau stars as the fairy Maurella in HBO's True BloodKristina Anapau originally signed up to HBO’s True Blood in a small role; that of Maurella the fairy. Over the seasons, this role has grown – along with her girth after falling pregnant to Andy Bellefluer (played by Chris Bauer) – into a more substantial role.

Recently Gossip On This got the chance to speak to Kristina Anapau about her True Blood role and what is in store for Maurella in Season 6. While she is very tight-lipped about any new story lines, she did have this to say about the abundance of strong female roles (such as that of Maurella) on True Blood:

Alan Ball is incredible at shaping strong female characters, but does so in a way that people can still relate to them.  It is truly a privilege to embody one of his creations. Mauella is quite multifaceted and exudes so much regality amidst her sensuality.  It’s a pleasure to help bring her to life.

Anapau is also known for her movie roles, having starred in Darren Aronofsky’s Black Swan, a role she got, in part, thanks to her ballet background. Besides that movie, we will be able to see Kristina in the upcoming Sightings and Black Jacks.

You can view the Gossip On This interview in is entirety here.

Do you think Maurella will be back to check up on Andy and their children in Season 6? Let me know in the comments below.
