True Blood Costume Designer on Season 5

January 27, 2012

On Clothing Bon Temps and Her Intimate Encounter with Michelle Forbes:

Michelle Forbes as MaryAnnAudrey Fisher, a costume designer for HBO’s True Blood, talked about the experience she has had clothing the residents of Bon Temps, Louisiana. Fisher has been researching for Season 5; her research includes informing herself on what’s in the stores nowadays, maintaining contact with companies, and keeping in touch with the actors. She and creator Alan Ball will have a costume meeting for the purpose of finding the look of the season so she can begin her designs.

Fisher on her weirdest encounter on the True Blood set:

“When Michelle Forbes was the Maenad Bride [MaryAnn Forrester] during the climax of season 2, she was wearing her giant 3-fingered claw hands and this giant 1940s bridal gown and floral headpiece, and the poor dear was so hungry but couldn’t hold her own sandwich… so I fed her. It was very intimate.”

Fisher’s favorite scenes of True Blood:

“I’m partial to the historical flashbacks because it’s so fascinating to see the characters in that new environment, watch the actors be transformed in their period costumes and witness it all unfold in the gorgeous sets… choosing a favorite scene is almost impossible because there are so many stories behind each costume, and every character and every element of their costume.”

We can’t wait to see what Audrey Fisher has in store for our favorite characters, how about you?

January 22, 2012

New Characters, Stories, and Locations to Stir Up the Waters in Season 5:

True Blood promoHBO’s True Blood cast and crew are back at work gearing up for season 5. Looking back on season 4, we met some great new people and lost some classic characters. (I’m still bummed about losing Queen Sophie-Anne and Nan Flanagan!)

Writer Alexander Woo, who will be authoring two episodes this season, is back to the drawing board. He and the other writers have discussed storylines and themes of season 5 so they can tackle the scripts of the first half of the season.

Alexander Woo on Season 5:

“Some of the things that people loved in the first four seasons of True Blood, you’ll be getting more of. And there will also be some surprises that hopefully delight everyone. We have a sense of what the fans have already enjoyed in the previous seasons, and we’re doing our best to give our fans more of that but also leave some room for novelty and surprise.”

Creator Alan Ball on Season 5:

“We’re really going to find out what the vampire Authority is all about.”

Okay Truebies, who’s excited for season 5?

Carrie Preston Interview with True Blood Season 5 Teaser

January 13, 2012

Arlene Fowler’s Drama on Top Network TV shows:

Carrie Preston as Arlene FowlerSince HBO’s True Blood has been on hiatus, Carrie Preston, who plays the fiery Arlene Fowler, has been quite busy booking a number of roles on top network shows such as Law and Order: SVU and The Good Wife. She guest-starred in the SVU episode: “Educated Guess”, playing the aunt of a woman facing multiple troubles. On what drew her to the role:

“The showrunner for ‘SVU’ now is Warren Leight, and Warren is a playwright first and foremost even though he’s been doing television for so long. I would say about 8 or 9 years ago I did a play of his at Baltimore Centerstage… I would do anything for him. This came along, it just worked out schedule-wise and I liked the role… Like I said, I’ll work for Warren — I’ll go anywhere for him.”

According to TVLine, Preston will be back on The Good Wife later this year. On True Blood Season 5:

“There are a lot of new characters, as is always the case with ‘True Blood.’ You will get some quick answers right off the bat. The show is not going to leave you wondering about some of the cliffhangers.”

Truebies, any guesses as to what crazy Arlene will be up to next season?

Skarsgård Talks Straw Dogs and Melancholia:

Alexander Skarsgård at the Hamptons Film Festival 2011Alexander Skarsgård, who plays vampire sheriff Eric Northman on HBO’s True Blood, stopped by the Hamptons International Film Festival to promote his latest film, Melancholia.

Skarsgård plays Michael, a man newly married to a woman who is overcome with depression on their wedding day. Coincidentally a giant planet is about collide with Earth.

Alexander Skarsgård was also quick to defend Melancholia director Lars von Trier, who has received some bad press lately. Skarsgård explained that the movie was strong enough by itself to draw people back to it, rather than comments made by von Trier.

On the professional dynamic in the Skarsgård family:

“Well, I’m 14 years older than [brother] Bill, and my brother Gus, we’re quite different. We usually don’t go after the same parts. So I wouldn’t say it’s competitive. But we do talk a lot about work, and we do encourage each other and try to keep each other motivated.”

Skarsgård’s take on the reception Straw Dogs got, and whether he’s seen it:

“I don’t know. I don’t read reviews, so… I don’t like knowing.”

“Yeah! Yeah, I’ve seen it [Straw Dogs.] I’m happy with it! I think it’s good, and I’m happy with my part.”

But he still doesn’t read reviews. And guess what Truebies? He doesn’t even read the positive ones!

Evan Rachel Wood on Being Bisexual and a Belieber

November 19, 2011

Queen Sophie-Anne on Love and Justin Bieber:

Evan Rachel Wood as Queen Sophie-AnneNot only does Bon Temps’ deceased vampire queen, Sophie-Anne LeClerq prefer to romanticize with women, but so does actress Evan Rachel Wood… well, Wood is really an equal-opportunist when it comes to romance.

On being bisexual:

“That’s a big part of who I am, and it always has been for as long as I can remember. I can’t say I’m one way or the other, because I’ve honestly fallen in love with a man and I’ve honestly fallen in love with a woman. I don’t know how you label that, it’s just how it is.”

On Justin Bieber’s Never Say Never, Wood admits:

“I ended up seeing it three times — in the theaters. One of those times was the director’s cut, I’m not even kidding. I got obsessed with the kid. It’s going to be weird if I ever meet him. He’s brought so much joy to my life.”
