True Blood’s Michael McMillian Talks Playing a Preacher-turned-Vampire

October 23, 2012

Reverend Steve Newlin goes from L.O.D. to The Authority:

Michael McMillian as True Blood's Steve newlinMichael McMillian, who is known for portraying the anti-vampire reverend Steve Newlin on HBO’s True Blood, had his character turned upside down when it was revealed that Newlin had been turned into what he hated most: a vampire! On top of that, he proudly confessed to Jason Stackhouse that he is a gay American vampire…and that he was in love with him.

McMillian spent most of the season hanging around Russell Edgington played by Denis O’Hare, causing mayhem and destruction. However, we have yet to find out who is maker is.

One thing many True Blood fans don’t know, is that McMillian is one of the writers of the True Blood comic book series. He has published comic books for two years now.

McMillian on playing a villain:

I just loved the idea of playing this right-wing Christian evangelist who hated vampires. It was such an out-there idea and such a great character, but also something that I thought was really relatable and really relevant to today. It was a really fun, satirical role.”

Did he know he would be back for Season 5?

“No, I didn’t know for sure. All I knew was that I hadn’t been killed and that’s usually a good sign on True Blood. If your character hasn’t met the true death, there’s a good chance you could make it back.”

True Blood’s Alcide and Sookie Possible Hook-up Dead and Buried?

October 1, 2012

Remember when Alcide and Sookie Started Going at It in the Beginning of Season 5?

Sookie and AlcideYep and so do we! So what happened?

Alan Ball, creator of True Blood, said:

“The decision to not do it this season [came about because] every single season, it’s been all about Sookie falling in love with this person or that person. It seemed like she had enough on her plate this season to not just [say], ‘Okay, now Sookie’s gonna fall in love with Alcide!’”

Ball reassures that even though Sookie has put Alcide through the ringer, i.e. covering up his ex-girlfriend’s murder for her, puking on him, subjecting him to vamps who he despises, etc, that the door is not closed. Or not locked.

What do you Truebies think? Are you Team Eric? Team Bill? Team Alcide?

When asked if she ever said; “my character would never say that” to the writers, Woll answered:

“I came up doing classical theater. And when the playwrights are dead, you can’t really argue with them.”

Woll is busy advocating for a cure for choroideremia, a eye disease that causes people to lose their vision slowly until it is completely gone, that her boyfriend, EJ Scott, has. Scott, who Woll met on Match.com, says her boyfriend was legally blind when they met and she loves him desperately.

July 9, 2012

Alexander Skarsgård and Benjamin Walker Vying for Role:

The Great Wall-Alexander Skarsgård/Benjamin Walker

Alexander Skarsgård has been quite busy lately, with filming Battleship and portraying Vampire Sheriff Eric Northman in season 5 of HBO’s True Blood. He must love his busy life as he has shown no sign of slowing down.

Ed Zwick, who is directing The Great Wall, is in the process of deciding to cast Benjamin Walker (Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter) or Skarsgård. Henry Cavill (Man of Steel) is already set to star in the film.

The adventure film tells the story of the travels of  British warriors through 15th Century China. In the process, they stumble upon the construction of a large wall.  When night time comes around, the warriors realize that the reasons behind the building of the wall isn’t just to keep out the Mongols — something else, inhuman, and far more dangerous is out there threatening the lives of many.

True Blood Season 5: Death, Lube, and Drinks

March 26, 2012

What a Normal Day on the Set of True Blood is Like:

Wall of True DeathSo we know that HBO’s True Blood isn’t your normal, average, everyday kind of show. If it were, True Blood definitely wouldn’t be the phenomenon it is today.  The production office has a Wall of True Death so they can keep track of those Bon Temps residents that are among the dearly departed.

Set costumers design quite the fantasy-oriented clothing for True Blood cast members — this includes lubing up Pam de Beaufort’s latex outfit.

Latex and Lubricant

Do you ever think about how the prop department keeps track of all the drinks being served at Fangtasia and Merlotte’s? Well now we know the process doesn’t look all that sophisticated! Seeing these pictures reminds me that we are that much closer to Season 5!

True Blood’s Dawn Olivieri on House of Lies

February 6, 2012

Alcide’s Sister Nude with Don Cheadle:

Dawn Olivieri on House of LiesDawn Olivieri, who plays Alcide Herveaux’s sister Janice on HBO’s True Blood, can add another TV appearance to her name, playing Monica Talbot on Showtime’s House of Lies. Olivieri describes Monica as “narcissistic, manipulative” and will do just about anything in order to get what she wants. In the first few moments of the pilot episode, Olivieri is lying in bed with ex-husband Marty Kaan, played by Don Cheadle.

On taking off her clothes:

“You don’t wanna be taking your clothes off for any old show. But House of Lies covets that quick wit, that truth, those in-your-face situations… if you’re gonna be naked, it might as well be for a show like this.”

On sharing scenes with Don Cheadle:

“[He is] accommodating, compassionate, open and a genius in subtlety and nuance.”

Be sure to check out Olivieri on House of Lies Sundays at 10 pm on Showtime.
