True Blood Season 7 Gets Beaten by a Shark:

Pam (Kristin Bauer van Straten) and Mr Gus (Will Yun Lee) star in HBO's True Blood Season 7 Episode 8 (entitled 'Almost Home')It seems True Blood’s vampires were taken out by a shark in the ratings war this week. According to Zap2It’s TV By the Number’s True Blood scored 1.8 million viewers for Episode 8 (entitled Almost Home) of Season 7. This was 100,000 behind the Discovery Channel’s Shark of Darkness: Wrath. True Blood Writer Kate Barnow Discusses Episode 8

Why Bill Said No and Why Sookie Can’t Help Getting in Trouble:

Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin) and Bill Compton (Stephen Moyer) talk in HBO's True Blood Season 7 Episode 8 (entitled 'Almost Home')Many fans were happy to see Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin) and Bill Compton (Stephen Moyer) get back together at the end of Episode 7 of HBO’s True Blood. Many were not. But, regardless of which team you were vying for, seeing Bill dying and Sookie being devastated about it, is not easy to watch. Hearing Bill say he wanted to die when offered the antidote to his terminal case of Hep-V was even worse. For HBO writer, Kate Barnow, she just hoped that people hadn’t guessed this already with the amount of Bill flashbacks this season:

Truthfully, we were a little concerned that maybe with all the flashbacks that people would guess this was where he was heading, that he was heading into this very fatalistic place. I think Bill has always been at conflict with himself as a vampire, and the thing that has kept him going has been Sookie. But I think that he’s feeling fairly resolute at this point that his time is nigh. That’s certainly what episodes 9 and 10 are gonna explore. Who’s to say if his time really is nigh? The moment where he decides he doesn’t want the blood is largely connected to the dream he’s had where Sookie’s holding the baby void. All of those flashbacks, that dream—everything’s adding up to this should be the end. That’s why he decides it, but all hell is about to break loose. People are not gonna be happy with his decision.

Sookie has risked so much to help heal Bill, having had a run in with the Yakuza and then having to be fake glamoured by Eric Northman (Alexander Skarsgard) were just for starters in this episode, but over the whole season, she has been risking life and limb to fix him. Kate discusses how they wanted Sookie to be more active in this season:

The idea was that Eric would feel kinda at a new place emotionally, which is that he has, to some extent, acknowledged that he has compassion for Sookie, even though she’s a human being. So with this new lease on life, for him to say, “I really want to reassure you that I’m not gonna die”—his whole plan is completely stymied when he gets there. He went with one thing in mind and learns something completely different. And then it’s this conflict of the enterprising Eric up against the romantic Eric. He’s like, motherf–ker, this keeps happening to me: Every time I let my guard down and care for Sookie, it gets in the way. But for Sookie, of course, she’s desperate, and there’s no way that she’s not gonna go after Eric when she finds out there’s a cure. She was just a little bit behind him because he can fly, which, you know, is an advantage. What is truly fun is watching Sookie see the Yakuza standing outside of Fangtasia and just being like, “Okay, I’m doing this anyway.” It feels new, but it’s kinda the same old thing: Sookie’s pursuit of trying to get what she wants, and usually it has something to do with Bill, is gonna mess Eric and Pam up in a big way.

You can read more on what Kate Barnow has to say about the love quadrangle developing between Hoyt (Jim Parrack), Bridgette (Ashley Hinshaw), Jessica (Deborah Ann Woll) and Jason (Ryan Kwanten) as well as what it was like researching items for Violet’s (Karolina Wydra) sex dungeon and plenty more regarding Episode 8 of True Blood Season 7 by clicking here.

True Blood Quickie: True Blood Season 7 Episode 8 “Almost Home” Recap

Here’s what went down in Episode 8 (entitled Almost Home) of HBO’s True Blood Season 7:

  • Karolina Wydra stars as Violet in HBO's True Blood Season 7 Episode 8 (entitled 'Almost Home')Sarah Newlin (Anna Camp) really does decide to be a martyr and walks outside to meet her destiny. Eric Northman (Alexander Skarsgard) nearly does the wrong thing by wanting to rip her head off but luckily Pam (Kristin Bauer van Straten) is there to threaten him talk some sense into him and danger is averted. Eric does sup on Sarah’s blood though and is instantly healed of Hep-V.
  • Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin) and Bill Compton (Stephen Moyer) are curled up in bed enjoying the afterglow when Sookie decides it would be a good time to dredge up the past. It seems Bill was meant to bring Sookie back to Queen Sophie Ann (Evan Rachel Wood) as a breeder, since the queen had gotten wind of another queen’s (Queen Mab of the fairies) plan to abscond all the fae out of the human world.
  • Tara Thornton’s (Rutina Wesley) story line gets wound up. It turns out all that digging in the garden of the their old house was to draw attention to the fact that Lettie Mae (Adina Porter) needed to forgive herself so the pair of them could move on – Lettie Mae, in life, and Tara, in death. *cries into her tissues at all the loose ends being wound up*
  • Hoyt Fortenberry (Jim Parrack) and Bridgette (Ashley Hinshaw) discover they may not be as perfect for each other as they first thought. It seems Hoyt realizes his family is messed up enough not to want to pass on the family genes. As a result, when Jason Stackhouse (Ryan Kwanten) gets the text from Violet (Karolina Wydra) saying she is holding Jessica Hamby (Deborah Ann Woll) hostage and takes off, Bridgette joins him. Because of course you would go into extreme danger rather than have a fight with your boyfriend…
  • So Jason gives her a gun and heads into Violet’s freaky house of hell. It doesn’t take long for Violet to attack him, tie him up and describe exactly how she plans to kill every one – and it turns out she was weirder than anyone even thought! Luckily Hoyt followed them there though so he can shoot Violet dead and save the day. Oh, and look at all the glances between him and Jess. It seems glamour can’t put the fire out on their attraction. Seems Bridgette can spot it a mile off too. My prediction is Jess and Hoyt will get back together (especially after the little chat Jason and Jess have in the car later in this episode) and Jason will hook up with Bridgette.
  • While Sarah’s blood has healed Eric, it seems Mr. Gus (Will Yun Lee) is hesitant to release it directly to the general vampire public yet. It seems her blood does too good a job, he wants to dilute it down a bit first, so that vampires will have to purchase more than one bottle of Nu Blood in order to stay alive.
  • Eric arrives at Bill’s (how did he know she was there and not at her house?) and tells her about his lack of a Hep-V status. Sookie breaks the news that Bill is now sick. Eric is sworn to secrecy over the cure though and asks Sookie to sit tight and wait. Of course, this doesn’t happen *rolls eyes* and Sookie tracks down Eric at Fangtasia. As soon as she arrives she works out she’s in huge danger from Mr. Gus and the Yakuza so when Eric offers to glamour her, she fakes it with the best of them. In the process she reads Mr. Gus’s mind and ends up finding Sarah bound and gagged in the dungeon of Fangtasia. Boy is she excited once she reads Sarah’s mind and realizes Bill can be healed!
  • Hoyt goes to Bill’s during the day because he has the hots for Jessica all over again to drop off a bag of blood and him and Jess have a bit of a chat about the loss of parents.
  • Okay, just on a side note. There seems to be a lot of vampires awake during the day time in this episode. Remember when they could barely be woken in earlier seasons? Yeah, me too…
  • Mr. Gus has to return to Dallas but lets Eric and Pam know they should behave while his gone – yeah, he doesn’t trust them one little bit! And so he shouldn’t, because as soon as he’s gone they are fixing to cure Bill.
  • Speaking of Bill, he is having a dream about him and Sookie having a baby together – except this baby is a black smoke monster. Is Sookie pregnant with a baby Ifrit? But, anyway, Sookie wakes Bill from his nightmare and tells him the good news before dragging him back to Fangtasia’s and bumping into Eric and Pam.
  • In all the time it takes to get Bill to Fangtasia, he waits until then to tell them all it is his time to die and refuses to drink Sarah’s blood – WTH?!

True Blood Season 7: Episode 8 (entitled ‘Almost Home’) Synopsis

Sarah Newlin (Anna Camp) is Still on the Loose:

Alexander Skarsgard stars as Eric Northman in HBO's True Blood Season 7Here’s the latest synopsis for Episode 8 (entitled Almost Home) of HBO’s True Blood Season 7 as released recently by Hypable:

True Blood season 7, Episode 8 “Almost Home” airing Sunday, August 10:

With his prey in sight, Eric Northman (Alexander Skarsgard) reconsiders his end-game strategies against Sarah Newlin (Anna Camp). Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin) puts her life at risk in hopes of saving Bill Compton (Stephen Moyer). Lettie Mae (Adina Porter) and Lafayette Reynolds (Nelsan Ellis) urge Reverend Daniels (Gregg Daniel) to join them in their V-fueled search for Tara (Rutina Wesley). Violet (Karolina Wydra) eyes payback against those who betrayed her, while an old love is reborn for others.

It seems Sarah is still on the loose and possibly not as eager to share her Hep-V antidote. Can Sookie find a cure and make Sarah Newlin completely redundant?

And what is so important to Tara that Lala and Lettie Mae try to draw the Reverend in?

I can totally get that Violet is like a woman scorned, and, to be honest, relieved that her vendetta will come to a head.

The last line has me intrigued though. It kind of makes me think of Hoyt (Jim Parrack) and Jessica (Deborah Ann Woll) – especially since Hoyt turned up in the latest True Blood Season 7 teaser video. Will Jason Stackhouse (Ryan Kwanten) and Hoyt finally have it all out in relation to the woman they both love?

True Blood Quickie: True Blood Season 6 Episode 8 “Dead Meat” Recap

The vampires prepare to meet the sun in HBO's True Blood Season 6, Episode 8, entitled 'Dead Meat'So what did you think of HBO’s True Blood Season 6, Episode 8, entitled Dead Meat? There sure was a lot going on and there is a definite feeling of impending doom building towards the True Blood finale in two weeks time.

This was a better episode than last week’s and I will certainly be hard pressed to pick only a few quotes for my meme’s post later in the week.

This is what went down:

  • Eric (Alexander Skarsgard) and Billith (Stephen Moyer) have words. They go something like this: “Blah, Blah… I hate you…blah… Sookie’s hot… blah blah… Lillith’s magic… Rack off!”
  • Rikki (Kelly Overton) challenges Alcide (Joe Manganiello) in a duel to the death for leader of the pack. We then have to witness Alcide beating on women. Not a comfortable scene at all, no matter how much we hate Rikki
  • Oh whoops! Nicole (Jurnee Smollett-Bell) is pregnant and she doesn’t know it, but we do after Sam (Sam Trammell) sniffs at her
  • Alcide and Sam are now besties. While I am over the werewolves/shifters story line, I am starting to feel sorry for Alcide having to leave his pack. This makes me a bit worried since TV shows LOVE to make you like a disliked character – right before they kill them off
  • Violet (Karolina Wydra) uses Jason Stackhouse (Ryan Kwanten) as a human popsicle – one which she will NOT share with the others. EVER.
  • Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin) needs Benlow’s (Robert Kazinsky) blood in order to save her vampire friends – but it will come at a cost. Yep, looks like Sookie’s about to become a vampire! Of course, being Sookie – even with time being of the essence – she has to wander off and discuss this with every potential suitor she can track down.
  • Whoops! Who’s that hiding behind that tree when Sookie leaves Fairyland. Enter: Eric Northman – this can’t end well, I just know it!James (Luke Grimes) tells Steve Newlin (Michael McMillian) not to drink the blood in HBO's True Blood Season 6, Episode 8, entitled 'Dead Meat'
  • Damn it James (Luke Grimes)! Why are you telling whiny little spineless biatch Steve Newlin (Michael McMillian) not to drink the blood? Why????
  • The horrible little turncoat Steve Newlin, in return, turns on him and dobs him into Sarah Newlin (Anna Camp). This is the episode when the sunroom from Billith’s vision starts to fill up. Very quickly Jessica (Deborah Ann Woll), Pam (Kristin Bauer van Straten), Tara (Rutina Wesley), Willa Burrell (Amelia Rose Blaire) and Violet join James and Steve Newlin. Jessica promptly announces their impending doom. On a side note, that means Jason is left alone with the other vampires in gen-pop. Hope he’s going be okay…
  • Sookie can’t seem to get in touch with Jason, but she has finally noticed thatNiall (Rutger Hauer) is missing
  • It doesn’t matter how old a vampire is – it’s still really hard to say “Jason Stackhouse”with their fangs out
  • Two week old fairies can’t drink coffee – but they will sneak out to drink alcohol with the boys!
  • Lafayette (Nelsan Ellis) tells Arlene (Carrie Preston) about Terry’s (Todd Lowe) two million dollar insurance policy – and that’s when Arlene works out it was suicide. She then goes on to cause havoc with the prim and proper Bellefluers over Terry’s funeral arrangements
  • Billith is an ass – he promises not to kill Warlow – but only because he hasn’t synthesized his blood yet
  • Sarah Newlin is possibly the best ‘character we love to hate’ when she goes ahead and thanks Jesus for helping her kill the Tru Blood rep who showed up and asked some hard questions. Although, I must say, it was the best bitch fight I’ve ever seen!
  • Sam asks Nicole to stay – and she does. Line of the night goes to Nicole’s mother referring to Sam as the “silver fox” and not realising how close to the truth she actually is!Anna Paquin stars as Sookie Stackhouse in HBO's True Blood Season 6, Episode 8, entitled 'Dead Meat'
  • Sookie gets pissy at her parents, announcing to them she’d rather be turned into a vampire than have to think about them. Yup, guess her mind is made up then. All that’s left for her to do is don a black gown and get the party started
  • Adilyn (Bailey Noble) gets all drunk and bitten by Eric Northman
  • So Sookie, having made her decision to be turned for the sake of her vampire friends, calls up Billith and they go to the cemetery. Sookie takes his hands and they disappear into Fairyland… only to find Eric has beaten them there and had a feast on Warlow. Is he even still alive? I guess we’ll just have to wait for next week to find out how badly Eric has screwed up

Robert Kazinsky stars as Ben/Warlow in HBO's True Blood Season 6, Episode 8, entitled 'Dead Meat'

We are down to the final three episodes of HBO’s Season 6 hit series True Blood, and yet there seems to be so much left to be revealed! Viewers were left shocked last week when Eric Northman’s(Alexander Skarsgard) sister, Nora Gainseborough(Lucy Griffiths) met the true death. In a last ditch effort to save her life Eric was forced to suck up his pride and reach out to Billith(Stephen Moyer), but even Billith’s blood was not enough to save Nora from the perils of Hep V!

True Blood Season 6 Episode 8 ‘Dead Meat’ Synopsis Released

Meet a New Character and a Dilemma for Sookie:

Robert Kazinsky (Ben Flynn) and Anna Paquin (Sookie Stackhouse) star in HBO's True Blood Season 6With the finale for HBO’s True Blood Season 6 approaching faster than a speeding train, fans are starting to wonder how Season 6 will end. With that in mind, we now have the synopsis for Episode 8, entitled Dead Meat, for you:

Sookie (Anna Paquin) faces a major dilemma in deciding whether to broker a deal between Warlow (Rob Kazinsky) and Bill (Stephen Moyer). Over in vamp camp, Jason (Ryan Kwanten) gets to know Violet (Karolina Wydra), while Sarah (Anna Camp) goes to extremes to keep Tru Blood flowing. Alcide (Joe Manganiello) makes a decision that will impact the futures of Nicole (Jurnee Smollett-Bell) and Sam (Sam Trammell).

Well, well, well, so much to ponder over for the next week or so until this episode screens.

Why is Sookie trying to broker a deal with Warlow and Bill? What has changed in her life for her to consider this? Who is Violet? Will she help or hinder Jason’s attempts at freeing the vampires he now cares about? If Eric knows that Tru Blood is infected with Hepatitis V, then why is it still in production? Why hasn’t Eric notified everyone? And, finally, how will Alcide screw up Sam and Nicole’s lives even further?

I guess we just have to wait to find out – but waiting sure does suck!

What do you think will happen this week in Episode 7, In the Evening, that will then impact what happens in Episode 8, Dead Meat? Let us know in the comments below.

True Blood Season 5 Episode 8 “Somebody That I Used to Know” Recap

The Evolution Begins:

True Blood Season 5 Episode 8 - RosalynWe start this episode with Luna flipping out as one of the shifter-haters is physically removed from the hospital. Sam manages to calm her down – or so he thinks. Not only does Luna plan to escape, but she goes all free-form shifter and turns into Sam! Later on, when Andy and Sam are playing good cop/bad cop with the shifter-hater they arrested at the hospital, Sam-Luna arrives and scares the crap out of everyone. What is going on here? I must say, I have always loved Sam Trammell as an actor, but Trammell playing Luna playing Sam is acting genius. Not only does he nail being Sam (Merlotte), but he also has Luna’s characteristics down pat. Probably could have gone without the Sam on Sam action that happens a little later, it was creepy enough to make you want to look away.

Next we find the drunk vampires returning to the Authority headquarters. This scene lays everyone’s cards out on the table. We know Eric will stay true to Godric’s words, we also know the others are still too high to believe in any other way than the Sanguinista way -even Bill shocks us, with his apparent aligience to the new Authority Regime. Now this could be part of a bigger plan on Bill’s behalf, one that he is not ready to share with Eric or us viewers…

Jason manages to convince Sookie to keep her special powers and not throw them all away – pretty as it may look when she really warms up her microwave fingers. He also encourages her to go to Claude and find out how they can track down their parents killer. A faerie ring is formed and Sookie not only manages to connect to her parents as they died, but to the vampire that was responsible for their murder as well! We don’t know yet, but is it possible this vampire is connected to her by a blood tie? And why does Claudine seem to know the vampire? Turns out he has a name too: Warlow. There goes the blood-bond theory.

As we suspected last week, Jessica gets caught by the Supe-haters and is offered to Hoyt to seek his vengence on her, revenge to this Hate Group means the death of Jessica. It gets a bit scary for a while there as we wonder how deep his hatred for Jessica really goes. For dramatic suspense we think for a moment that Hoyt is actually going to put Jessica to the True Death, but we quickly realize how deep his love runs for Jessica, regardless of the hate he claims to have for her!  Hoyt doesnt put a wooden bullet in Jessica’s head, and Jessica is only too willing to kill one of Hoyts new-found ‘friends’, as part of their escape plan.  Their plan comes to a halt when they realize they are in the middle of nowhere and it is daylight, making it impossible for Jessica to leave. Hoyt leaves promising to send help Jessica’s way, his parting words to Jessica are less than kind, but nonetheless he leaves to find help!  While he’s is gone, Andy, Sam and Luna-Sam arrive to rescue her after getting Jessica’s whereabouts out of the terrified shifter-hater they were interrogating. Seems the Sam and Luna-Sam show really did the trick!  Luna-Sam smells another female in the room; ‘a large, menthol smoking, Cheetos-eater who is now dead’ – wonder what significance this information will turn out to hold? But what of Hoyt, I hear you ask? It seems he has jumped out of the frying pan and into the fire now.  On his pursuit to find help, he is approached by a truck and ends up looking into the barrel of a gun, the holder of the gun isn’t revealed to us…yet..

We discover in this episode just how ‘energetic’ were-sex is as Alcide and Rikki get jiggy before they attempt a pack master challenge. While they think their days are numbered due to the challenge and the unfair advantage of JD’s ‘V’ addiction, it turns out they are wrong. JD announces that the pack challenge is to hunt down a human and kill him in order to be declared the winner. Alcide forfeits but the life of the human is still at risk. JD claims the upper hand, and Alcide almost pays for this defeat with his life, but is saved by Martha who is no longer blinded by JD. Though Alcide’s life is spared, he is badly beaten and banished from the pack.

Salome tries to work out which side Bill is truly on by offering him a human to drain. Bill wavers and we get a flashback to a horrible moment in his past when he visits his dying daughter and she begs for immortality. Eventually Bill drains the victim to show his solidarity to the Sanguinista, and his loyalty to Salome. We have yet to see how he will cope with his actions afterwards.

Next we are taken to a poignant scene involving Lafayette and Jesus. Lafayette is driving away from Jesus’s grandfather’s and he finds a stash of ‘V’ that heals his lips, Jesus appears in the car and comforts him. Nothing else enlightening really happens here, other than we now know that Jesus’s spirit is with Lafayette, and gives Lafayette a newfound confidence that we have not seen in Lafayette for some time.

Speaking of Lafayette, Holly and Arlene concoct a plan to get Terry over his belief in the curse – but Lafayette has to pretend to be a medium who contacts the woman who cursed Terry and Patrick. This is all good and well until the woman really does arrive via Lafayette and tells Terry and Patrick that the only way to lift the curse is for one of them to kill the other one!  It looks like Holly and Arlene’s plan failed miserably.

While Tara is serving at Fangtasia, she comes face to face with a blast from her high school past. Tracy is the obnoxious woman we met when Jessica was trying on dresses as Claude first arrived on the scene. It turns out she is even more horrible than we first suspected! Tara gets all vampire uppity on her and Pam has to step in. We are led to believe Pam is concerned about the image that must be upheld in Fangtasia, and that humans are off-limits. We get another Pam surprise when we find that Pam has in fact chained Tracy up for Tara to do as she pleases with. It seems Tara has to learn the difference between Pam’s mad face and her happy one. Pam glamours Tracy so that she adores Tara and leaves the two alone to their own devices.

Eric tries to talk to Nora alone. He tells her about his vision of Godric. Nora seems to be a hard nut to crack though. She spits on the memory of Godric. Eric, becomes visibly upset, and is close to tears, his hope for getting Nora to see things his way is faltering, and the realization that he may have lost his sister forever is apparent. While Bill embraces his dark side, it seems that Eric is developing a softer side.

The Sam on Luna-Sam action is interrupted by Luna-Sam shifting back into Luna, but we nearly miss it because we are looking away from the screen at the time! Will Luna die? Not in this episode, but her future is not looking too good at all.

Warlow appears as a ghostly image to Sookie and announces that he is coming for her. It seems Sookie has yet another vampire to worry about!

We finish this episode with the vampires discussing how to eradicate mainstreaming. While they have many vile ideas, Bill comes up with the ball-breaker: bomb the Tru Blood factories. Apparently there are only five in existence, which makes you wonder how many vampires are out there – this world domination plan by the Sanguinistas may take a while if this is the case. Eric questions Bill’s integrity and is told by Bill that he is ‘evolving.’

Is he? I’m still hoping it is all just a really good act on Bill’s behalf, but I’d love to hear all your thoughts on the matter. Make sure you let me know in the comments below!

True Blood 3.08 “Night on the Sun” Review

True Blood sets the standard on shock factor, but always seems to outdo itself. This week, it delivered an episode full of heartbreak, violence, and sex, that left us crying, cheering, and running for a cold shower.

In the hospital, Sookie and Bill tearfully realize that, even though they love each other, they can’t be together anymore: “I keep waiting for us to be happy, to start our lives together like a normal couple. But it’s never gonna happen, is it?” She’s been in constant danger since they met, and the near-draining in the back of Alcide’s truck was the last straw for Sookie. She understands how weak and hungry Bill was at the time, but she doesn’t think she can forgive him, even in the face of a man who says, “I will love you forever.”

Bill wants Sookie to be happy, so he starts trying to do what’s best for her–to let her go. When he returns home, he receives a big, adorable hug from his “child,” but he’s miserable. He releases Jessica from his control as her Maker, but she doesn’t want to leave: “I drained someone. I was hungry, and I was sad, and it was an accident, but I didn’t know how to control myself because you never taught me. No! I need you, you’re the only Maker I’ve got!…I don’t want to be alone anymore.”

At the Paley Center writers panel, Raelle Tucker said that Jessica is her favorite character to write for, and it showed in “Night on the Sun,” which gave Deborah Ann Woll some great material after a few episodes sadly lacking in our favorite baby vamp.

Bill is not going to let his break-up with Sookie prevent him from protecting her when Russell inevitably comes for her. He and Jessica practice their cool vampire fighting skills so that they can be ready for Russell‘s werewolves. This was such a fun scene, but the distraction was brief. Bill and Jessica may be separated by age and experience, but they are feeling the same pain–she admits that she’s still in love with Hoyt, but knows he deserves someone better.

Sookie is trying to distract herself, too, by getting back to a normal life, lying out in the sun like she used to do all the time. Tara thinks her best friend should be glad to be rid of Bill–her trauma has justifiably made her want to get as far away from vampires as possible. Like other characters have learned before her, Franklin’s blood is giving her unwanted dreams. But for Sookie, getting over Bill is not so easy: “It might be over between me and Bill, but what we had was real. I can’t just flip a switch and turn my heart off.”

Life would be so much simpler if she and Alcide could fall for each other. They have formed a bond of friendship over the past week, but they are both dealing with a broken heart. Alcide returns to Jackson to guard his family against Debbie and her pack. He and Sookie share a nice hug and part ways, knowing that they will see each other again.

Terry singing to Arlene‘s stomach: sweet. Arlene having a nightmare about Rene, saying the baby is going to be just like him: not sweet. This subplot is approaching a potentially devastating place whenever Terry finds out the truth. I think he’d be the kind of guy who would raise the child like his own, and if Arlene doesn’t know that, I wonder why she’s even with him.

Sam underestimated the effect that kicking his parents out would have on Tommy. Even though things will undoubtedly be better for him, his issues don’t magically disappear. He’s led a life of anger and alienation, so he can’t just turn off his fighting instincts, like when he encounters Hoyt at Merlotte’s. How ANYONE could be mean to Hoyt, I don’t know, but Tommy makes him feel bad about Jessica. We only see Hoyt briefly later in the episode, but he’s crying. Sam tries to explain to Tommy that he doesn’t have to be so defensive and full of rage. He can begin to think about what he wants for his life.

Jason‘s reaction to what Bill did to his sister is typical–he wants to rush in and kill him. He breaks out the old Fellowship of the Sun kit with the wooden rounds for his shotgun. Thankfully, Crystal shows up before he can go anywhere. She has a black eye and wants to run away in Jason‘s truck. Even though Jason has no idea what he’s up against with Calvin Norris and the other rednecks from Hot Shot, he can only see the benefit right now of getting to be with this girl he’s so drawn to. After they make love, he goes to tell her family to stay away and thinks his threats will be powerful enough to make them listen (Ha!). Later, Crystal‘s father and fiance come into Merlotte’s looking for her. Sam and Tommy immediately smell something on them and kick them out. They’re only just getting to know each other, but I liked seeing the brother tag team action.

Lafayette is surprised to find his mother waiting for him when he returns home from the ordeal with Tara and Sookie. She’s escaped from her hospital because she thinks the supes are trying to get her–apparently, vampires, witches, and shifters are all after a crazy old woman… Lafayette calls Jesus to come pick her up. She pulls a knife on the two of them, but Jesus manages to calm her down. Whatever is wrong with Ruby Jean, Jesus tries to convince Lafayette that it means something that she tried so hard to come to see him. Lafayette doesn’t really believe that, but he does try to explain to Jesus about the drug dealing. Just as he’s about to walk out the door, Jesus turns around and they kiss again (it doesn’t look like anything’s going to stop them this time, unless Ruby Jean wakes up and sees them, which is a hilarious/terrifying thought).

Debbie has promised to hunt Alcide down, but first she is on a mission with Russell to retrieve Sookie. The King accompanies her to Bon Temps himself (after seeing the “pack of imbeciles” mess too many things up, he probably doesn’t trust them to do his dirty work anymore). Talbot wasn’t happy at being left behind again, feeling like he’s always second to Russell‘s work. He was already upset enough about the bloody mess left behind by Tara, Sookie, and Alcide upon their escape.

Eric still needs to keep the King‘s trust until he can exact his revenge. It was undoubtedly very difficult for the proud Viking to kneel before the one who massacred his family, but the end of his vendetta is finally within reach. We can see the emotion hiding behind Eric‘s eyes: “I have been searching for you for a thousand years…a true leader. One strong enough to unite us all… Just give me the chance, and I will show you how deep my loyalty runs.” We don’t know exactly what his plan is at this point, but he clearly does have a plan. For one thing, he sends Hadley to deliver a message to Sookie: “Russell is coming for you. Don’t trust Bill.” As to why he tells Hadley to tell Sookie not to trust Bill is very odd as Eric knows Bill would do anything to protect Sookie.  Is it a ruse to get Sookie to distrust Bill and run into Eric‘s arms?  We will have to wait and see on this one. Then, Eric offers to keep Talbot company to appease his anger, seemingly out of his desire to help the King.

When night falls, Sookie knows an attack is coming. She hears howling in the woods, as Debbie and a couple of her were buddies approach. Sookie is ready. And so are Bill and Jessica. The two vampires and wolves face off downstairs, while Sookie waits upstairs with a shotgun. Debbie kicks the door in and the cat fight ensues!

Meanwhile, in Jackson, Eric and Talbot play chess by the fire when Talbot says, “I’m bored. Take off your clothes.” Off come the clothes, and out come the fangs.

Back at Sookie’s house, Bill kills his wolf quickly, but Jessica‘s escapes out the front door. Before Bill can stop her, she steps out of the house, into the waiting arms of Russell, about to rip into her neck. Bill provokes him: “You are 3,000-years old and a King! Yet you hide behind guards, wolves, a baby vampire… Are you a coward? Or are you just lazy?” Russell releases Jessica, who runs off followed closely by a wolf. Bill is no match for Russell. Burned with silver spurs and kicked across the ground, Bill is close to being killed, but at the same time, Eric turns Talbot over in the heat of passion (but Talbot thinks a different kind of passion is coming…) and raises a stake: “Russell took my family. Now I take his.”

Russell senses the death of his lover and cries out, immediately taking flight. Sookie gains the upper hand on Debbie when she slashes her face with scissors and picks her shotgun back up: “Get outta my house, bitch!” Debbie jumps out the window and runs off. With the fighting ended, Bill comes upstairs to check on Sookie. In that moment, they forget about why they shouldn’t be together–she loves him, he loves her and he’s sorry for what he did, and that’s all that seems to matter. The episode ends with them having steamy sex on the floor with Sookie being in control in the lovemaking.

All in all, “Night on the Sun” was extremely high on tears and blood shed. It fills me with excitement and dread to think about what they’re saving for the rest of Season 3!

What did everybody else think about this one?

The latest Postmortem that HBO has released shows us a vampire‘s guide on how to survive an werewolf attack.  The music and guidelines that are presented in the postmortem is reminiscent of the old 1950’s public education films similar to the old “stop, drop and roll” films.  Enjoy!

Once again many thanks to BLT & Associates and HBO for sending this video to us!
