True Blood Quickie: True Blood Season 7 Finale Episode 10 “Thank You” Recap

I can’t believe this is it. I can’t believe this is my last ever True Blood recap! Here’s what went down in Episode 10 (entitled Thank You) of HBO’s True Blood Season 7:

  • Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin) stars in HBO's True Blood finale Episode 10 (entitled 'Thank You')We start off pretty much where Episode 9 (entitled Love is to Die) ended; at Sookie’s (Anna Paquin). Her and Bill (Stephen Moyer) are having a chat about how Bill wants Sookie to have a life and how Sookie wants Bill to live. Then he drops a clanger on her: he not only wants to die, he wants Sookie to kill him! *starts wimpering* Turns out he has a reason for that. He figures if she uses her super fairy light ball once and for all, she will no longer be an attractant to all the supernaturals out there. Needless to say, Sookie is pissed…
  • Eric Northman (Alexander Skarsgard) and Pam (Kristin Bauer van Straten) hatch a plan: release Sarah Newlin (Anna Camp) and use that as a ploy to lure Mr. Gus (Will Yun Lee) down into the dungeon so they can kill him and his Yazuka security guards. This plan actually works and we can say RIP to Mr. Gus, the bad guy that wasn’t really such a bad guy, just an annoying one. Sarah is really on the loose too, but that’s okay because Pam has given her some vampire blood and can track her like a bloodhound. Once that happens, Sarah does the only thing she knows how; try and talk her way out of the situation. Sarah tries to convince Pam to turn her into a vampire – to which Pam refuses, but more on that later…
  • Oh, and the Yakuza on the way to Sookie’s house? Don’t worry about them because Eric totally has a handle on it! *cue Eric jigging away to J-Pop in the car*
  • Jessica and Hoyt get married in HBO's True Bloof finale Episode 10 (entitled 'Thank You')So Jessica (Deborah Ann Woll) and Hoyt (Jim Parrack) turn up to talk to Bill, but the table is turned when Bill goes all parental on Jess and insists Hoyt makes an honest woman of her. To which Hoyt agrees and we have an epic vampire wedding organized at vamp speed so Bill can walk Jess down the aisle. *This is the first time I really start bawling*
  • Andy Bellefleur (Chris Bauer) is called in to officiate the wedding and Bill drops a bombshell on him: he is now the heir apparent to Bill’s estate. Andy doesn’t want it, but that’s okay because Bill wants Andy to rent it to Jess and Hoyt. For $1 dollar a month. Man, where can I get a landlord like that?!
  • Sookie has her own flashbacks in Episode 10. This time we get to see Sookie and Tara (Rutina Wesley) as kids. They’re all running in the rain and getting dried off by Gran (Lois Smith). Yes, Gran’s back! And she’s still giving out sound advice by telling Sookie that the only boundaries she has is the ones she sets upon herself.
  • Sookie goes looking to her brother, Jason (Ryan Kwanten) for some advice as to what to do about the kill Bill situation. Turns out Jason is just as surprised as the rest of us that his advice might be useful. But Sookie reads Bridgette’s (Ashley Hinshaw) mind while she’s there and lets Jason know that she is totally okay about him and Bridgette hooking up. Of course, Jason had no idea because he equates not having sex with ‘she doesn’t like me‘.
  • Speaking of Jason, he and Hoyt work things out and he is Hoyt’s best man at his wedding.
  • So, we are at this vampire wedding and Sookie is suddenly able to hear Bill’s thoughts. WTH?! Is Bill turning human? Is that how his Hep-V works now?
  • Sookie is still having a hard time working out whether to kill Bill or not, so she goes to see Reverend Daniels (Gregg Daniel) about it. He has as much good advice to give as Gran did, so Sookie is starting to come to a realization…
  • Sookie sitting on Bills coffin in the HBO True Blood finale Episode 10 (entitled 'Thank You')…that the True Blood finale is going to be all about a wedding and then a funeral. Sookie meets Bill at the cemetery where is grave is open and ready for him. There is much talking going backwards and forwards between these two and I am howling at the TV right now because I am coming to realize Sookie is not going to kill Bill with her fairy light, she is going to stake him instead! At least Bill is okay with that, because I am so not okay with it, and I’m not even Team Bill! And there we have it, Sookie in a coffin filled to the brim with Bill gloop and I am rocking and crying and eating Gran’s pecan pie with my bare hands. Guess that ‘maybe Bill is turning into a human‘ idea is completely moot now.
  • Fast forward to a year later. Wait, what? I’m still grieving over here! But HBO has a show to wrap up and they don’t have time for that crap. It seems Eric and Pam are shooting an infomercial about their new product: New Blood. They have a great little story about how Sarah got away, all except for a few stray drops of her blood from which they were able to synthesize a cure. Nice lying there Northman 😉
  • Oh, wait, is that Charlaine Harris? Why, yes it is!
  • Now it’s three years later and Pam is looking suspiciously like Sarah Newlin as they float their product on the stock exchange.
  • Oh, look, it’s Fangtasia. Pam is in the dungeon letting vampires take their New Blood straight from the source. Yep, Sarah Newlin actually survived the True Blood finale! But she’s now the antidote whore Pam promised in Episode 9. We also get another cameo appearance from Steve Newlin (Michael McMillian) here because Sarah is now officially crazy.
  • Next it’s Thanksgiving and some random guy is deep frying a turkey at Sookie’s house. Seems there is a big gathering going on. Oh look, there Jason and Bridgette and their three kids. And, wow, Sookie’s pregnant too! Wonder who the lucky guy is? Now they are all sitting down to dinner and there’s Sam (Sam Trammell) and Nicole (Jurnee Smollett-Bell) with their second child. Hoyt and Jess still look happy, and so do Lafayette (Nelsan Ellis) and James (Nathan Parsons). In fact, everyone in Bon Temps does. But who the heck is Sookie with? Then she leans over and kisses a guy with a beard. AND WE DON’T EVEN GET TO SEE HIS FACE.
  • Oh, I get it, Sookie chooses to be human and that’s more important than which guy she ends up with. And I am crying all over again because Sookie is happy.

Sookie Stackhouse Deserves the World According to Bill Compton:

Anna Paquin stars as Sookie Stackhouse in HBO's True Blood Season 7 finale, Episode 10 (entitled 'Thank You')But what if all Sookie (Anna Paquin) wants right now is to see Bill (Stephen Moyer) live? This is the very question asked by Sookie in the opening of sequence of the sneak peek trailer release of HBO’s True Blood Season 7 finale.

Besides the pressing issue of Bill surviving Hep-V or not, we also get plenty of other juicy tidbits:

  • It seems Sarah Newlin (Anna Camp) has escaped yet again.
  • Eric Northman (Alexander Skarsgard) and Pam (Kristin Bauer van Straten) still have a battle to fight regarding Mr. Gus (Will Yun Lee).
  • Speaking of Pam, whose neck is she feeding from? The person is wearing something blue, but that is the only hint as to the identity – wait, wasn’t Sarah wearing something blue earlier on in the clip?

It seems True Blood is nearly ready to meet the #TrueEnd. *cries bloody tears* Let us know your thoughts leading into the final week of True Blood Season 7 by commenting below!

True Blood Season 7 Finale: Episode 10 Synopsis Revealed!

Who Makes it to Episode 10 (entitled Thank You)?

One Last Bite True Blood Season 7 promo posterWith only two more episodes left of HBO’s True Blood, fans are starting to worry at how all the loose ends will be tied up. Who will die? Who will live happily ever after? Who will Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin) finally chose?

Well, we have the press release for the True Blood Season 7 finale! Bill Compton (Stephen Moyer) makes it to at least the start of the episode, but it seems he is still suffering from his virulent dose of Hep-V – will he take the antidote or meet the true death? Sam Merlotte (Sam Trammell) makes a choice – hang on a minute didn’t he already do that in Episode 9? How many choices does Sam have to make? Pam (Kristin Bauer van Straten) and Eric Northman (Alexander Skarsgard) also make it to Episode 10 (entitled Thank You) of True Blood. It seems they are not entirely comfortable with their relationship with Mr. Gus (Will Yun Lee) though – could one of these three die? And, finally, we come to an interesting little titbit: Andy Bellefleur (Chris Bauer) gets an unexpected inheritance. This one disturbs me, after all it wasn’t that long ago that Bill was seeking legal advice about his will. Could Andy be the benefactor of Bill’s estate? And, if that is the case, does Bill die?

True Blood Finale Quickie: True Blood Season 6 Episode 10 “Radioactive” Recap

Alexander Skarsgard stars as Eric Northman in HBO's True Blood Season 6 finale, Episode 10, entitled 'Radioactive'Whoa! WTF just happened? Yeah, it’s the finale of HBO’s True Blood Season 6.Episode 10, entitled Radioactive, is certainly a nail-biter – and for many it just may be a deal breaker unless a certain something is fixed within the first five minutes of True Blood Season 7, Episode 1!

Be warned SPOILERS and LANGUAGE abound in this recap!

This is what went down (can’t believe this is the last one):

  • Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin) and Alcide Herveaux (Joe Manganiello) go walking after Terry Bellefleur’s (Todd Lowe) funeral. It seems Alcide isn’t the mindless beefcake Sookie expected!
  • So while they are walking and talking (and is that flirting I see?), they bump into a whole pile of sparkling Twilight wannabes day-walking vampires. Sookie finally realises that Billith (Stephen Moyer) was right. She doesn’t have time to dwell on this when she spies Jason (Ryan Kwanten) among them
  • After it gets a little fangy between Jason, Sookie and Violet (Karolina Wydra), things are amended with a kiss – between Sookie and Violet! How awkward for Jason: the ultimate male fantasy – except, dude, that’s your sister!
  • For the first time ever we see Pam (Kristin Bauer van Straten) genuinely happy – and with Sookie nonetheless!
  • That happy high doesn’t last for long though and Pam very quickly turning into the snark we know and love so much. She decides to hunt down Eric Northman (Alexander Skarsgard) and leaves Tara (Rutina Wesley) in charge of Willa (Amelia Rose Blaire)
  • Tara looks ridiculous in a straw hat
  • Sookie also looks silly in hatsAnna Paquin stars as Sookie Stackhouse in HBO's True Blood Season 6 finale, Episode 10, entitled 'Radioactive'
  • Sookie returns to Fairyland and an eagerly waiting Warlow (Robert Kazinsky). It seems, now that all Sookie’s vampire friends are safe, she can’t see the point in an immediate fae wedding and vampire turning. But Warlow is pissy – especially after he spent all that time making a maypole while she was gone – so he slaps her! WTF?!
  • Warlow is one badass monster! He should be horsewhipped on the spot for that slap. But, oh no, it gets worse! He gets all nasty-pants by choking her and then tying her to the maypole. Sookie tries to nuclear-fairy-ball him but he’s too fast and ties her hands up and then proceeds to FEED off her! See, this is why you should never trust a guy who’s killed your parents – not matter WHAT the reason!
  • Billith begins the long road to redemption in this episode – so glad to see this :-D
  • Jessica (Deborah Ann Woll) is very good at whipping that ‘poor me‘ attitude right out of Bill when he explains Sookie is going to be turned and it’s all his fault
  • Jason is REAL pissed when Bill and Jessica ‘fess up about Sookie – and I don’t blame him one little bit! But, oh, I do LOVE to see Jason on a mission!
  • So Adilyn (Bailey Noble) is needed to get into Fairyland – bet Andy Bellefleur (Chris Bauer) is going to love that idea – NOT! But in the end he agrees and him and Jason weapon up and head to the church with Bill, Jessica and Violet
  • Sometimes you just have to scare the crap out of a fairy to get to use her magic – I’m sure Violet is sorry Adilyn ;-)
  • The rescue of Sookie gets a bit full on. This is what goes down: Adilyn gets them into Fairyland, Violet releases Sookie. Bills stakes Warlow, everyone (except Bill and Warlow) escape back to Bon Temps and batten down the hatches at Sookie’s house (because a house is SO much stronger than a 6,000 year old fairy-vampire who is pissed), Violet gives Sookie her blood to heal her
  • But wait – Warlow just walks right out of that nasty staking mess, kicks Bill and flies off. Uh-ohSookie (Anna Paquin) finds out the truth about Warlow (Robert Kazinsky) in HBO's True Blood Season 6 finale, Episode 10, entitled 'Radioactive'
  • Yeah, that old southern house just doesn’t hold up against Warlow. Within seconds, he has Andy and Violet unconscious, Jason, Andy and Adilyn locked up in Eric’s old hidey hole (sealing it up with his fairy magic) and is up those stairs and choking Sookie all over again!
  • Now somehow Adilyn manages to release them all – even though her magic is not nearly 6,000 years old
  • So Sookie is trying to get her nuclear-fairy-ball happening, but you know what happens when you’re put under pressure – she just can’t get it up!
  • Luckily Niall (Rutger Hauer) decides at that moment to reach through from the stinking otherworld and grab Warlow
  • Jason manages to stake Warlow and kill him for good this time – wonder what made his stake better than all the rest?
  • Jason and Sookie pull Niall free from the otherworld and it’s all looking good…
  • … except now that Warlow is dead, the fairy day-walking ability wears off all the vampires. Lucky for them it’s night time…
  • … except no one told Eric who is sunbathing naked in Sweden
  • So for a split second we get to see the great Viking’s junk before he bursts into flames
  • WTF?!
  • Seriously?!
  • Flames?????????????
  • Dead Viking?????????????
  • HBO are you mad????????
  • While, technically, we don’t see Northman die, it is not looking good for him unless Pam can get to him in time
  • And now it’s six months later and we still don’t know the fate of Eric Northman or Pam, but it seems Sookie and Alcide are now a couple
  • Bill is a famous vampire author and it seems the only real authority on Hep V
  • 1/8 of a vampires are estimated to be infected with Hep V. Humans are carriers but it’s not a death sentence to them. Apparently it’s an unstable virus too and the mutations are erratic
  • Sam Merlotte (Sam Trammell) is the mayor – WTF?!
  • Sam goes to church talks to the Bon Temps community and encourages them to go to Merlotte’s for a free ‘social’ – only catch is that you should try and hook up with a vampire there for your own protection. Pretty sure Sam in not getting re-elected as a resultAdina Porter stars as Lettie Mae in HBO's True Blood Season 6 finale, Episode 10, entitled 'Radioactive'
  • Tara’s mum, Lettie Mae (Adina Porter) is mega creepy when trying to make amends with her daughter. I know she means well and all, but seriously? Creepy
  • Hot vampire James (Luke Grimes) can sing
  • Jessica tries to apologise to Andy for eating all his kids (LOL! It took her six months to do it – yeah, Andy’s that scary!) – surprise, surprise, Andy’s not impressed. In fact he pulls a gun on her and it looks like it’s all over red rover for Jessica Hamby. But, wait, nope, he shuts the door in her face. Phew!
  • Sookie and Alcide leave Merlotte’s early, only to be holed up by Bill. It seems he’s offering his protection to Sookie all over again – can anyone say ‘deja vu’? Sookie declines – but not before Alcide scents a mob of hungry, sick, moaning zombies vampires approaching the town!

The vampires return to Bon Temps in HBO's True Blood Season 6 finale, Episode 10, entitled 'Radioactive'

  • Say hello to #WaitingSucks because it’s the credits now and a hell of a long wait until HBO’s True Blood Season 7!

So what did you think of True Blood’s finale episode, Radioactive? Are you going to tune in Season 7 to see if HBO save Eric from the true death?

TrueBloodNet’s True Blood Season 6 Finale Predictions

Who Will Die? Will We See Eric Northman in True Blood Season 7?

Alexander Skarsgard stars as Eric Northman in HBO's True Blood Season 6With only a short time to go until HBO’s True Blood Season 6 finale, fans are already wondering what will go down. Here at TrueBloodNet, we have all been curious to see how Brian Buckner will close a season that is already becoming a fan favorite.

Here are our predictions for what will occur in Episode 10 (entitled Radioactive), the season finale of True Blood:

  • Eric Northman (Alexander Skarsgard) won’t die, but will head on over to Honolulu to alert them about the Tru Blood contamination
  • Billith (Stephen Moyer) will be chased by Lilth and her three bloody handmaidens throughout Episode 10. This will follow through into Season 7
  • Sarah Newlin (Anna Camp) will not appear much (if at all) in Episode 10, but will return in Season 7 as the top villain
  • Considering how sad Kristin Bauer van Straten gets whenever she is asked about the demise of her maker, Eric Northman, in True Blood, perhaps it is actually Pam de Beaufort that will bite the dust?
  • Warlow (Robert Kazinsky) will also die. And considering how sad he appears when Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin) leaves for Terry Bellefleur’s (Todd Lowe) funeral, it could possibly be at his own hand
  • Niall (Rutger Hauer) will appear right at the end of Episode 10
  • Alcide Herveaux (Joe Manganiello) will make a pass at Sookie, this will confuse her even more in regard to her feelings towards Warlow
  • Some of the vampires that were feeding off Jason Stackhouse (Ryan Kwanten) were infected with Hep V – this will lead to the big question: how will humans react to Hep V?
  • Jason will only find out about his Hep V status when Violet (Karolina Wydra) starts getting the tell-tale blue veins

It’s highly likely we are completely off with our predictions and Brian Buckner has something else even more spectacular planned for us all in the True Blood Season 6 finale, but it’s still fun to dream.

What are your predictions for the Season 6 finale? And what are your predictions for True Blood Season 7? Let us know in the comments below,

True Blood Season 5 FINALE Episode 12 “Save Yourself” Recap

Hold Onto Your Hat – It’s a Bloody Ride!

Season 5 finale for HBO's True Blood Episode 12: Kids gone to bed: Check.

Tru Blood cocktails ready: Check.

Gran’s Pie and a box of tissues: Check.

You are now officially ready for HBO’s Season 5 finale! So what went down?

Well, for starters, Russell Edgington went all sparkly thanks to his high consumption of fairy blood and the fact that the entire fae army were hitting him with every available microwave finger they could find! Luckily, before he could get into fairyland, Eric Northman showed up and ‘helped’ him find his true death. Nora also arrived and, surprisingly, had never smelled a fairy before. It got a bit fangy for a moment but Eric takes control and brings about order. (And was that an attempt at wooing Sookie?)

Jason seems to be ‘off with the fairies’ after being hit accidently by their light in the last episode. He is now seeing and speaking to his dead parents and they want all the vampires dead! Throughout the whole episode, they appear, giving their crackpot advice. Will Jason go back to the way he was when he joined the Fellowship of the Sun?

Sam is taken to Bill as a food parcel. He promises to never tell a soul about what he has witnessed in Authority HQ for Emma’s safe return. Bill doesn’t believe him and once Sam realises this, escapes by turning into a fly. Boy is Bill angry after that. The hunt is on!

Eric and Nora return to Fangtasia only to find Pam has been arrested by the Authority. Eric, Tara and Nora arrive at Sookie’s manage to convince her and Jason to join them in their attempt to free Pam, Bill and Jessica.

After admitting to Salome that he killed Kibwe for thinking he was the one true leader, Bill also claims Lilith had appeared to him. It gets a bit awkward here, since Salome had also had the same vision, but Bill tells her that Lilith announced to him that Salome was the one true leader. I think Bill has a plan. Maybe he isn’t as bad as we’ve been led to believe this season.

Sam returns to Luna, who is trapped in a cell with the other bloodbags at Authority HQ. He tries to convince her to escape at the first sign of trouble. Luna can see her daughter in the next cell and refuses to leave. Sam tries hard to convince her otherwise, but only time will tell if Sam got through to her. Sam shifts back into a fly and disappears. He must have a plan also.

Jessica and Pam are stuck in a cell. Jess is convinced that Eric has turned to the Sanguinista way of life. Pam just wishes she didn’t have to keep hearing about precious Sookie.

Alcide and his father are bonding when Martha arrives with an extremely high Rikki. It seems she’s been forcefed V by JD. Martha is concerned Rikki may overdose, but it turns out Jackson has a remedy for that. The side effect, though, is that as the V leeches from your body, it’s not at all pretty. While she’s sweating blood, she shares a few horrible details about JD and what he’s doing to the pack. Alcide gets mad and vows to fight him – even if he has to take V to make it an even fight!

Jason and Sookie (loaded up with a trunk full of coffins filled with vampires), break into an anti-vamp store and start loading themselves up with equipment. Their parents keep appearing to Jason, who is starting to work himself up into quite a fevour as a result. I sure hope Jason doesn’t get too hot-headed around our fave vamps!

Lafayette is making Cajun margaritas and getting Arlene and Holly tipsy. Jane Bodehouse doesn’t need them, since she is so well past drunk, it’s surprising she can perch on her bar stool. Lucky, since when Andy and his pregnant fairy arrive, she doesn’t even bat an eyelid when Maurella goes into labour – or drinks a large amount of salt. The fairy-labour scene is awkward – to say the least. Not only does Andy have to confess his sins to Holly, but she then proceeds to act as midwife to Maurella. Just when you think it can’t get any weirder, it appears fairy birth is like an orgasm mixed with fireworks!

Reverend Steve Newlin arrives and takes Emma out of her cage. Is that really him or is it a shifter? As Steve is leaving Authority HQ, he gets interupted by Chelsea, the Authority receptionist. She notices his lack of a southern accent. Steve tries hard to deflect her questions, but he finds even more trouble awaiting him when he has to give a blood sample at the elevator: not to mention the fact that headquarters are in lockdown! It’s not Steve, that’s for sure – but who is it really? This dilemma is moot once Rosalyn arrives – she is furious with Newlin for his little drinking party at the frat house. Thankfully, damage control includes having to follow her out of the building!

It turns out Maurella is giving birth to more than one child. After the first girl (minus an umbilical cord) arrives, she promptly goes back into labour and we are forced to watch her orgasmic lightshow again. Four children later, Maurella appears to be done. She promptly gets up and announces her departure. It ‘s apparently the man’s job to raise children in fairyland. How’s Andy going to cope with four children? How will Holly cope?

Alcide takes on JD and wins – with the help of Martha, her crossbow and a dose of V. I wonder who’s blood is stronger than the blood of Russell which JD had consumed? It seems Alcide is now officially pack master!

Eric and Nora returns to Authority HQ with three hostages: Tara (pretending to be a mainstreaming spy) , Sookie and Jason (human beverages). And after a quick chat with secuirty, they’re back in the Sanguinista nest – as simple as that!

Steve Newlin is put in the spotlight on national television and made to apologise for his and Russell’s actions in the frat house. Only a few sentences into his TV appearance and he starts to get sick. After vomiting, he shifts: into Luna! She promptly (on live television), starts telling America about what is really going on in the Authority headquarters. This makes Rosalyn madder than a cut snake! She rushes at Luna, but swallows a fly in the process. That fly is Sam, who quickly shifts back into his human form, making Rosalyn’s death a literal explosion! Sam turns around just in time to see Luna faint. Is she going to make it?

Bill watches Salome via security cameras as she approaches Lilith’s blood. It will be interesting to see what happens when she drinks it.

Salome in the Season 5 finale of HBO's True BloodHowever, we are interupted from finding out as the scene shifts to Jason, Sookie and the rest of the crew getting ready to kill some vampires as they ride up in the Authority elevator. Chelsea is horrified, briefly, as the doors open and Jason sends her to her final death. A security alarm sounds. That doesn’t stop Jason though. Authority reception quickly turns a vivid shade of red as he takes out vampire after security vampire. Level two protocol is enforced and all the lights go out. Tara leads the way for Sookie. Eric and Nora lay in wait and take out more security. The body count is enormous.

Tara and Sookie find Pam, but they need to wait for Nora and Eric to open the cells. It takes time (Jason manages to take out another vampire while he’s waiting), but soon they are free. Tara and Pam throw themselves at each other – can anyone say ‘Hot new romance for Season 6‘?

Bill and Salome seem oblivious to what is going on around them as they discuss what Lilith wants. Eventually Salome downs Lilith’s blood and it seems we will discover what effect that will have on her.

Except, we are now taken back to Sookie and the gang. Jason has made up his mind about Jessica – it seems he can no longer stomach the undead. Eric and Nora meet up with them. Eric and Sookie decide to rescue Bill, and the rest escape Authority headquarters.

Ah, now we find out what has happened to Salome. It seems she is weakened by it and Bill is taking great pleasure in telling her about all the silver he put in Lilith’s blood. Apparently Salome was too excited about the upcoming rapture to notice it. Bill then goes on to stake Salome – is that a vial of blood he has? Oh my goodness, is he going to drink Lilith’s blood himself now?

Eric and Sooke arrive and try to convince him not to drink the blood. It seems Bill truly has travelled to the dark side and says some completely horrible things to Sookie. Eric appears to be in complete shock. Bill rants about how he finally feels like he is no longer an abommination AND DRINKS LILITH’S BLOOD!

***If you haven’t yet seen the final episode and are Team Bill, look away now***

After spewing up blood, his head explodes and he melts down into a blood puddle. Sookie is in shock. Eric is horrified. I am screaming. My cat is running from the room in fright.

Eric tries to comfort Sookie. In the process, he notices movement in the Bill puddle. Bill rises up all bloody and naked and Billith. Is he a god now? Needless to say, Eric and Sookie panic. Eric tells Sookie to run. The credits appear.

HBO’s True Blood Season 5 Finale – Gran’s Pecan Pie Recipe

Gran’s Cryin’ Pie

HBO's True Blood Season 5 FinaleSo what is everyone doing for the Season 5 finale for HBO’s True Blood? Are you glad to see the season end, or are you begging for more? And while finale night means a lot of questions are answered, it also means there is a huge gap of time before you get your next new fix of Bon Temps.

Of course, finale night means party night also! This year at my place there will be Tru Blood Plasmapolitans (Tru Blood, Vodka and lime juice) as well as a good dose of crying.  Sookie’s gran’s famous Cryin’ Pie from Season 1, when her gran met an untimely demise and Sookie blubbered her way through the entire thing, is just the comfort food needed for this!

This year, I have attempted to replicate gran’s pie. I think I’ve come pretty darn close. So here is the recipe for you all to enjoy. For a more authentic recipe, omit the maple toffee.

Gran’s Cryin’ Pecan Pie

Gran's Cryin' Pecan Pie
Gran’s cryin’ pie before the maple toffee has been added

Ingredients

Pie Crust

1 cup all purpose flour
1/3 cup confectioner’s sugar
113grams cold, unsalted butter, chopped
1/2 tsp cinnamon

Pie Filling

395gram tin sweetened condensed milk
60grams brown sugar
2 eggs
2 tsps Bailey’s Irish Cream liqueur (or 1 tsp of vanilla extract)
1/4 cup maple syrup
Pecan halves, to decorate

Maple Toffee

Brown sugar
Maple syrup
Water

Method
  • Add all the pastry ingredients to a food processor and whiz until totally combined.
  • Grease a pie dish and, using your fingers, press out the pastry dough until smooth.
  • Bake in the over at 340 degrees Fahrenheit
  • Add all the pie filling ingredients (except the eggs) to a pan and heat on a medium temperature until the sugar is dissolved.
  • Turn off the heat and allow to cool for five minutes.
  • Add the eggs, one at a time, whisking quickly to prevent them cooking unevenly.
  • Turn the heat back on to low and whisk until the mixture thickens into custard.
  • Pour into the pie crust and decorate with pecan halves
  • Firmly pack 1/3 cup brown sugar into measuring cup. Top up with maple syrup to the 1/2 cup mark. Add to a pan along with 1/4 cup of water.
  • Turn on the heat to high and let the mixture boil. Keep checking the toffee by pouring a small amount over the back of a cold metal spoon. As soon as it becomes super sticky, pour the whole lot over the top of your pie.
  • Refrigerate until set and serve with either whipped cream or ice cream
  • Enjoy! (But don’t forget to cry while eating it.)

TrueBloodNet.com Responds to TVDoneWright.com – Season 4 True Blood Finale

True Blood Alexander - Eric, Anna - Sookie and Stephen - Bill Season 4

TrueBloodNet.com takes on TVDoneWright and it’s WAR!

OK, maybe not war exactly. We were a bit over excited by the attack on the witch shop last episode! Our buddy over at TVDoneWright.com has a critique of the season and while we here at TrueBloodNet.com agree with some of his points, we disagree with others so we thought it would be fun to respond point to point (although we won’t reprint his whole article here and you should head over to TVDoneWright.com to catch all his well thought out, if slightly flawed, reasoning.) We say this in a friendly way… we think TVDoneWright rocks!

True Blood Marnie Fiona Shaw

Lose the witches

The season of the Witch has been a flop. We can’t blame Fiona Shaw who played Marnie, with three different accents at that. The story was just bad. It was so bad, it made me think “I sure miss Maryanne from Season 2”.

TrueBloodNet.com replies:

We agree for the most part. Frankly, the flashbacks were time-sucking megaboring events that slowed the story down so much that, on top of live-tweeting the show, we managed to surf the net looking for pictures of #TrueBlood #HotBottoms. It is bad enough Marnie is returning in the finale (and Fiona Shaw has been great in the role, no doubts about that) but we’d hate to see her lingering into next season. That said, we don’t want to see all the witches killed off, just break up the coven. In fact, we can imagine scenarios where the witches can be helpful here and there without being the center of attention.

The Fairies – Are they in or out?

At the beginning of the season, Sookie was in Fairy land. Then Eric kills the fairy-godmother, and then we forget about them. That’s until last week when another fairy randomly has sex with Andy.

Here we don’t agree. We liked the fairies and are fine with them popping in and out. They are like any other Supe and we don’t need to focus on them all the time for fairies to have a big part from time to time. The whole, “I was in fairyland for a year and that’s why everyone has aged” thing was a bit trite, but we here at TrueBloodNet.com are loving the new and responsible, if still boyish, foolish, and not-too-smart Jason and King Bill. With his heart, courage and new role as a policeman, Jason’s been rockin’ the show in Season 4 of True Blood. The first few seasons, Ryan did a good job acting but his story lines were lame — although we loved his interaction with Eddie. This season, he really blossomed. We just love Jason and hot, young vampiress Jessica — played by the talented Deborah Ann Woll — together and the difficulties it’s sure to cause with Hoyt. We hope True Blood doesn’t end up back in Hotshot next season though. The serial rape thing was just disgusting and went a bit too far. We’re all for pushing boundaries, but X-rated scenes with children are off-limits. We never rewatched that episode after the first night because of the EW! factor.

True Blood Jason Ryan Kwanten

At the end of last season, we at TrueBloodNet.com were very concerned that Bill would fade into the background or mope around pining for Sookie. King Bill has been awesome giving the brilliant Stephen Moyer the chance to showcase his acting chops. Not to mention, he’s been vampire sexy and his character Bill, like Jason, has moved forward through the series. And it has allowed for some great Sookie-Eric scenes and it was great that the Sookie-Eric Shippers got their moments. Alexander Skarsgård is very easy on the eyes and is delivering in the acting department.

Werewolves – Give them something better

Season 3 introduced the werewolves to True Blood. When this happened, they painted themselves in a corner. You see they added another mythology creature, but they never really managed to do anything interesting with them. That was especially the case with Season 4, which saw Alcide pretty much in the background the whole time.

To which we at TrueBloodNet.com reply: AAaaaAWOOOOoooO!!! For more reasons than one, we’d like to see more of Alcide next season, preferably as the new Alpha —  with lots of #HotBottom moments! While we appreciate that Alcide likes to be the lone wolf, we’d long to see the Werewolves evolve into a chaotic-good force. There are plenty of complex and challenging forces that can torture the poor wolf once he accepts the leader’s mane and has to temper his loner desires with his deeper understanding of the amount of good he can do by leading a wolf pack with true honor and fairness. On the other side of The Camera, Joe Manganiello — hot hot hot! — gave up Superman to play Alcide — he sure as heck deserves a meatier role than he’s gotten so far.

True Blood Joe Manganiello Alcide

We are also really loving the Bromance between Sam Merlotte and Alcide. They are like the Starsky and Hutch of True Blood, only they can act twice as well and are thrice as yummy.  Sam’s whole story line this season has been very riveting. We love that he’s got a shifter girlfriend, has grown and become more complex. His journey of self-discovery has been compelling and, as always with Alan Ball’s story lines, shows us the dark side of an adoptee’s journey to find his birth family. Sam Trammell is easily one of the best looking men on the planet and he just oozes kindness, which makes the changes in Merlotte’s character even more remarkable. His portrayal of Sam, as Tommy playing Sam, was astounding — and hilarious! Great acting chops there!

Sam Trammel True Blood Sam Merlotte

Speaking of the ill-fated and often annoying little brother Tommy — deftly portrayed by another #HotBottom Marshall Allman — anyone who didn’t tear up during his death scene needs to ask the wizard for a heart. We know Tommy was annoying, but he never had a chance; the deck was always stacked against him. We realize that Alan Ball may have been setting up the Alcide-Sam partnership, but somehow, allowing Tommy to die felt like a writer failure. Sure, it yanked at our heartstrings but what a dismal message to send to adoptees. Tommy’s death also took away a powerful tool — skin walking — that could have been used very infrequently, due to the high toll it took on Tommy. He could have infiltrated The Church of the Sun, for instance, as Steve Newlin. Hopefully, we’ll have some flashback scenes next year with some humorous memories of Tommy or a few good brother minutes we didn’t get to see in the year Sookie was in Fairyland.

Marshall Allman True Blood Tommy

And, of course, the stop and start again romance between Sam and the fiery shapeshifter Luna, adeptly portrayed by series newcomer Janina Gavankar, has been very well received by the fans, we at TrueBloodNet.com look forward to that storyline continuing to develop next year.

The Quadrangle — Eric, Sookie, Bill and Pam

TVDoneWright.com said:

Sookie – Pick one and move on

There are two scenes that annoyed me to no end this season.

The first was the dream-sequences where Sookie told Bill and Eric that they could both have her…in bed.

The second scene that annoyed me was last week when Eric and Bill were ready to kill themselves to save Sookie. Wait…what?

Here we at TrueBloodNet.com strongly disagree with the main premise but agree with one of the ‘WTFranklin‘ moments.

We like seeing Sookie torn between Eric and Bill, in fact, we’d like to add Alcide to the mix and see what happens. Personally, we don’t need to see a four-or five-way, but we sure do like it when all the Alpha males start… you know, looking for a ruler. We love the triad if for no other reason than the dialog writers, during these scenes, often have us laughing, just when we didn’t think we could stand the pathos of an episode. A welcome break. We can see where, from a male standpoint, this might not be the greatest story arc. But instead of changing Sookie and forcing her to choose, we’d suggest bringing on a real femme fatale next season for the menfolk’s pleasure — oh wait, True Blood already has one, Pam. Perhaps Alan could just let Pam and Sookie get into a mud fight… in a shared dream. And while we’re talking about Sookie, Anna Paquin‘s acting this season has been great! We just wish they wouldn’t write Sookie like a ditzy blonde…

True Blood Pam Kristin Bauer van Straten

While everyone keeps talking about this as a triad, we at TrueBloodNet.com strongly feel this is actually a quartet. Pam, played by the beautiful and talented artist, activist and actress Kristin Bauer van Straten, oozed jealousy during the season’s penultimate show last Sunday. Clearly, vampire Pam is not happy to see that, despite the curse being broken, Eric and Sookie are still a thing and no doubt that colors her later decision to fire a rocket launcher in Sookie’s general direction. We got to see a bit behind Pam’s stone wall exterior in Season 4 of True Blood, and we really felt her face-melting pain but we crave more background on Pam. Could it be in Season 5 we’ll discover how Eric chose to turn Pam and what her first reactions were to being immortal? At any rate, Pam’s lines, sharply to the point and dripping with sarcasm and disgust, are just our cuppa joe.

Which brings us to the point where TrueBloodNet.com totally agrees with TVDoneWright. When Bill and then Eric both agree to die the true death for Sookie, it was the stupidest moment on True Blood. First, if they did it, the show would be over — so what viewer believed it, even in the moment? But secondly, who would protect Sookie if they were both dead? Who would protect the other vampires? Marnie had already proven that she wasn’t trustworthy… it was just lame. If Bill was planning to kill Eric to get rid of him, stop Pam from killing him and find another way to save Sookie — only excuse for this idiotic behavior — True Blood sure didn’t do a good job of clueing in the audience.  Next time you’re thinking of doing that —  just say no.

True Blood 5 Vampires shot Season 4 Stephen Moyer, Kristin Stewart van Stratten, Alexander Skarsgaard, Jessica Tuck and Deborah Ann Woll

An area where we at TrueBloodNet.com do agree with TVDoneWright is that there are just too many individual story lines. It’s not so much that there are too many characters, although there is some of that and we would argue that the show certainly doesn’t need any more, but that they all have so much going on it’s hard to spend enough time to fully develop some storylines. We wouldn’t advocate killing off a main character however. Rather, we’d like to see them bring back Steve Newlin and King Russell next season, give us flashbacks with Godric, Tommy and bring in Dr. Ludwig, instead of bringing in any ‘new’ main bad guys — and certainly not a whole coven of them.

Of course, True Blood, another way you could make the story flow a bit better is by giving us back those 30 minutes you cut out of this season by ending the show early on three separate occasions to air HBO commercials (Hey! HBO! We pay for your service already — a real burden for many in this economy. We don’t need an advertising miniseries to chew up True Blood’s time slot! — very bad move.) And please, dump any flashbacks with folks we really don’t care about. Then you’d have more time to spend on the story lines about the characters we love.

Focusing on the (Mostly) Positives

True Blood Terry Bellefleur Todd Lowe

True Blood Arlene Carrie Preston

Scuttlebutt has it that we’re going to learn more about Terry Bellefleur, compellingly portrayed by Todd Lowe, next season. It could easily be argued that Terry is the beating heart of True Blood. Always forgiving, always understanding, brave as a lion, crazy as a bed bug… Andy’s addiction storyline has left a bit to be desired but not those scenes between Terry and Andy (we also like Andy’s burgeoning relationship with Holly — someone needs to give Andy some respect!), they’ve been great.

True Blood Andy Chris Bauer

Terry has not only helped his cuz down from the V addiction, he’s also been good for Arlene, maybe now that baby Mikey is safe from the spirit of his serial-killer daddy, Arlene can find more time to get fired up about vampires, or werewolves or rabid armadillos — no offense, Felix. Carrie Preston is flat-out gorgeous and it would be great to see her dressing up now and again. We think it bears mentioning that Chris Bauer has stepped up his game nicely, selling the roller coaster ride of addiction, and making us cringe in sympathy. We’re looking forward to his antics as comic relief next year… you know Andy rockin’ it with the fairy isn’t going to end well.

Nelsan Ellis True Blood Lafayette

No analysis of season 4 would be complete without a discussion of Lafayette, Jesus and cousin Tara. We have to say, while we were glad that Tara, well-played by Rutina Wesley, is no longer a door mat, her storyline was too random to be impressive. Suddenly she’s a pit fighter? Really? Sorry, but this is a profession that takes years to develop. We doubt Tara’s extensive book reading turned her into Louisiana’s Jeanne Claude Van Damme in a mere year. We at TrueBloodNet.com don’t know where they are going to go with Tara next year, but we hope it is better thought out than this year. A lot of the season felt like they put a bunch of names and occupations in a hat and pulled out two or three at a time and just went with it. Rutina is too sexy and talented to be wasted like that.

True Blood Tara Rutina Wesley

Lafayette and Jesus have just been dynamite this season. Nelsan Ellis did an incredible job with all these different personalities inhabiting his body; he and Jesus, portrayed by Kevin Alejandro, have been so piquant together. Jesus has really blossomed into a fascinating character and we’ve been allowed to glimpse his big heart –and the Bruho within. We hope that True Blood continues to grow that relationship next year —  no matter what happens in the season finale. The scene with Jesus and possessed Lala in Hoyt’s house brings a tear to the eye with every watching. Very powerful stuff.

True Blood Jesus Kevin Alejandro

One last request: As a sympathy retcher, we sincerely hope that True Blood got vomiting out of their system this year. There was more upchucking than #HotBottoms in some episodes. Enough already; thankfully, we don’t have smellovision yet.

The Finale Predictions

OK final ‘guess’ on what ‘familiar faces’ we will see today in the finale:

Gran: Protective spirit

Tommy: Zombie

We don’t expect it but in the ‘wouldn’t it be fun’ category:

Rene: Everyone else has taken a shot at taking over Lafayette’s body, why not Rene?

Dawn: Zombie after Jason

Jessica’s Truck driver: Zombie after Jessica

Daphne: Ghost haunting Sam

Eddie: Protector for Jason

Godric: Protector of Eric

Eggs: Zombie after Tara

True Blood Luna Janina Gavankar
