Recently we announced that Ryan Kwanten (who plays Jason Stackhouse in HBO’s True Blood) will join the cast of Northman – A Viking Saga. There was no news, at the time, of which role he would be playing in this latest movie of his, yet many people were wondering if he would in fact be a Viking. Well, since he arrived at the TIFF (Toronto International Film Festival) premieres for his latest movies, The Right Kind of Wrong and Mystery Road, sporting a shaved head, there are now reports that he will be playing the part of a Christian monk! There is no official confirmation on this though, with IMDb.com still not listing the name of his character in the Viking movie.

And with True Blood finishing up with Season 7 in 2014, Ryan told the Toronto Sun, during the Toronto International Film Festival, that he is very lucky to be employed in a career where 99% of actors are unemployed or struggling. He also had this to say about being an actor:

In terms of being an artist and being able to express myself physically and emotionally, I think it’s such a real liberation. In a weird way actors are these eternal kids. We get paid to play out this innocence, and our emotions. And quite often in ways we wish we could in real life.

It’s a great thing that a talent such as Ryan Kwanten is still in the limelight and with so many movies of his coming up in the near future, I don’t think we have to worry about that light dimming just because True Blood is coming to a close!

True Blood’s Stephen Moyer to Attend The Toronto International Film Festival

September 5, 2013

Devil’s Knot is Based on a Tragically True Story:

Stephen Moyer stars as Billith in HBO's True Blood Season 6Fans of HBO’s True Blood who live in or near Toronto are in for a treat with this years Toronto International Film Festival: Stephen Moyer (who plays vampire Bill Compton) will be attending!

His latest movie is called Devil’s Knot and has been selected for inclusion in the Toronto International Film Festival 2013. This movie is based on a harrowing true story:

When three young boys were brutally murdered in the small community of West Memphis, Arkansas, in 1993, their deaths led to shock and outrage in this tightly knit religious town. It wasn’t long before three teenagers were arrested, tried, and sentenced — two of them to life imprisonment and one to death — despite the fact that they all claimed innocence. This story of wrongful conviction roiled the American justice system, brought a number of prominent movie stars and rock musicians to the defence of the three young men, and resulted in a trilogy of documentaries.

~Synopsis taken from TIFF.net

The movie will screen on Sunday, September 8, 2013 at 8pm at the Elgin Theatre and then at 9am on Monday, September 9 at the Bell Lightbox 1. According to AllStephenMoyer.com, it has been confirmed that Stephen Moyer will be attending this event.

Devil’s Knot also stars Colin Firth, Reese Witherspoon, Dane DeHaan (also of True Blood fame, having starred as Timbo, a Hotshot resident, in Season 4), Mireille Enos, Bruce Greenwood, Elias Koteas, Alessandro Nivola and Amy Ryan. If you can’t make the screenings at the Toronto International Film Festival, then you can see it when it comes out in cinemas on 24th October 2013.

He was there with his fellow Melancholia cast mates to celebrate the premiere of this new movie.

Fans got to get up close and personal with the True Blood star, many scoring autographs and photos with him. His co-star, Kirsten Dunst, also managed to turn heads on the red carpet in a retro polka dot number. Melancholia also stars Kiefer Sutherland, someone else who is familiar with playing the role of a vampire (The Lost Boys).

Ryan Kwanten to Attend TIFF

August 26, 2010

Ryan Kwanten, True Blood, Jason StackhouseRyan Kwanten will be at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) this year to promote his new movie “Griff the Invisible,” which will be one of 27 films debuted there. The Toronto International Film Festival will be the world premiere of the movie, which is about Griff, a man who is an office worker by day and a superhero by night.

The Toronto International Film Festival will take place from September 9 to September 19, so we’re not yet sure when Ryan will be there, but it will most likely be on one or all of the dates that Griff the Invisible is showing (September 10, 12, and 19).

One thing is pretty much guaranteed, though. Ryan will be great in his title role as Griff, just as he is while portraying Jason Stackhouse on True Blood.
