Nia, I agree 100%. I believe Maryann does control the creature, also if you remember Maryann’s greek shrine. That will give you a clue if you want to find out. At least that is my opinion of who I think they are. So far I LOVE what Alan is doing with all the characters. It’s getting more and more addicting every week!
Iknow that in the books the creature is a maenad which is from Greek mythology. The Maenad represents chaos, drink, mischeif and frivolity, but she is also dangerous. So is Maryann a maenad? Is she able to turn into the creature or is it controlled by her? We will have to wait and see. This is why I love the creative mind of Alan Ball, and the changes he has made. He keeps us guessing and makes us think it out. Big sloppy kisses to him for all the fun.
In the books Sookie gets scratched by a maenid. Its claws carry poison like a Komanado dragons. Then Bill has Eric, Pam, and Chow help him save her. But she doesn’t turn into a werewolf in the books. But this is Alan’s world and he’s kicking it up alot. I don’t think he’s followed with the Maenid idea, but I think I know who/what the creature is along with who/what Maryann is. But I don’t want to spoil it for anyone.
I have read the books too. I am not sure who Maryann is or the clawed creature. But isn’t it interesting that Sookie gets attacked soon after Maryann finds out that Sookie invites Tara to move in with her. So I believe that Maryann is responsible in some way for the attack on Sookie. Whether she is the creaature or controls it. It is all still up in the air and in the head of Alan Ball. Personally I am enjoying being surprised by all the changes from the book. Makes it all the more interesting, keeps us guessing and thinking. Love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!
