True Blood Season 3: Episode 1 “Bad Blood” Review

Right out of the gate, True Blood takes off running and shows viewers that they are in for a wild ride this summer! As the opening scene flashes quickly from one character to the next, we realize just how many storylines are in motion.

We see Sookie running out of the French restaurant shouting for Bill; Sam looking at the piece of paper with his parents’ names and last known location as he drives off in search of them; Jason stumbling into his house and freaking out over what he has just done; Tara crying over Eggs‘ dead body outside Merlotte’s; Jessica dragging home the truck driver she bit; and, finally, Bill chained in his car by a gang of thugs. They are the “F*** You Crew,” Coot (newcomer Grant Bowler) says, before flipping out a knife and stabbing him in the arm.

After the opening credits, Sookie starts the search for Bill. She tries to file a missing person’s report with the police, but they seem to think they have better things to do with their time. Kenya suggests that maybe Bill wasn’t kidnapped at all but instead got angry at being rejected and ran off while Sookie was in the bathroom. Merci beaucoup for nothin’, Kenya.

Next Sookie goes to Fangtasia to accuse Eric. She finds him in a compromising position with Yvetta, the new dancer from Estonia (introduced in minisodes). He casually (and nakedly) walks over to Sookie. She thinks he took Bill, but he has been with Yvetta all night. “Doing this? For the last six hours?” You seem surprised,” he responds. “Is Bill’s stamina not up to snuff.” Sookie’s next suspect is Lorena, and Eric assures her that he will investigate the matter further because it’s his duty as Sheriff to learn what happened to Bill, “even if I do want what is his.”

Sookie drops in on Jessica next to tell her to call if she sees Bill. Baby vamp has a problem of her own, though. She accidentally drained the trucker and now she doesn’t know what to do with him. She pours some of her blood in his mouth and puts him down in her cubby hole in hopes that he will become a vampire. In between the lesson on mixing her TruBlood cocktail and where the recycling goes, maybe Bill should’ve taught her some of this stuff…

Andy sits nervously in a booth at Merlotte’s while he waits for Bud to take his statement. Terry comes over to comfort his cousin and remind him that he is still a good man. Suddenly, Tara blows up at Arlene for not caring what happened to Eggs. “I’m sorry you fell in love with a serial killer, but honestly, who here hasn’t?” Tara looks like she might attack Arlene until Lafayette drags her home with a bottle of tequila. When Sookie has exhausted every option for the night, she walks in the door and still doesn’t know about Eggs. Tara is crying and Lafayette explains about Eggs going at Andy with a knife and confessing to killing the women. Sookie looks dismayed and admits that Eggs came to her for help in remembering what he had done under Maryann‘s spell. Tara explodes again and starts beating on Sookie until Lafayette pulls her away and takes her back to his house.

Meanwhile, back with those who really did capture Bill, the biker thugs have been drinking his blood to get high. As they speed down the road to who knows where, they’re feeling pretty invincible, until Bill leans over and snaps the neck of the driver, sending the car rolling down a hill. Bill crawls out, weak and bloody from the ordeal. He stumbles off into the woods and calls out for Jessica, who is instantly jarred from sleep in her cubby hole.

Andy sneaks into Jason’s house for a secret chat (these two as buddies is possibly my favorite new thing on the show). He insists that Jason needs to pull himself together. If they don’t stick to their stories, they’ll both get thrown in jail for the rest of their lives: “I need to see a lot less conscience and a lot more cajones, and I need to see ’em pronto.” They have to act normal, and for Jason, that means chasing women. He says he doesn’t want to be the old Jason anymore, he’s trying to be a new person. “When this thing blows over, you can go out and not get laid all you want to, but for right now you gotta be the Jason Stackhouse everybody knows.”

Eric, now clothed (much to the dismay of viewers), is yelling on the phone at someone who was supposed to retrieve Bill for him. “HOW COULD YOU FAIL ME?!” Now Eric has no idea where Bill is, and he is scared of what the Queen will do if she finds out that he has lost the only vampire who knows of their arrangement to sell V.

Sam gets a knock at the door in his Arkansas motel room. It’s Bill. He asks if he can take a shower. Then he suggests that Sam join him: “We’re gonna have a nice time. I hear the water in Arkansas is…very hard.” As they move in to kiss, a phone call wakes Sam up from his dream. A woman from the Magnolia, AR Chamber of Commerce tells him that she doesn’t know where the Mickens have moved since their last eviction, but she knows the tire shop where their son works.

Hoyt is working with Jason on the road crew, telling him about leaving his Mama’s house after finding out that she was lying about how his Daddy died. Jason asks if he wasn’t happier before he knew, but Hoyt says the truth has set him free. In a rare moment of thoughtfulness, Jason replies, “People are always trying to f*** up people’s lives by tellin’ lies about ’em. You wanna really f*** somebody’s life up? Tell the truth about ’em. They ain’t never gonna be the same.” Hoyt subtly tries to get Jason to invite him to stay over, but it’s like talking to a fence post: “Jason! Can I crash at your place for a little while or not?!” “Of course, man. It’s kind of a nasty way to ask…”

Lafayette knows that Tara can’t be left alone, so he calls her mom over to his house to watch her so he can go to work. Lettie Mae brings her minister to come talk to Tara and explain that Maryann was just a devil woman trying to pull Tara down into the fires of Hell. Tara uses her mother’s infatuation with Reverend Daniels to escape to the bathroom and lock herself in. At  Merlotte’s, Arlene smells the tiny amount of cinnamon that Lafayette put in the chili and realizes with a shock that she’s pregnant again. Jason pulls Hoyt over to his table where he is flirting with a couple of pretty girls on their way to California for veterinary school. Jason charms them into coming back to his place for some fun. As he gets up to leave, he signals to Andy who, instead of grumbling with jealousy like he used to, gives a nod of approval: “Attaboy, Stackhouse.” Unfortunately, Jason seems to have trouble…performing. Even when the girls start kissing each other, he keeps imagining bullet holes in their heads.

Eric is sitting on his platform at Fangtasia watching Yvetta dance when he gets a couple of unexpected visitors: Queen Sophie-Anne (Evan Rachel Wood) and the Magister (Zeljko Ivanek). It’s clear where the true power lies with this trio when the Magister assumes Eric’s fur-covered throne and begins expressing his concerns about the amount of illegal dealing of vamp blood in Louisiana. “The blood is sacred. Wasting it on anything other than procreation is blasphemy.” He suspects that a vampire is responsible. Eric shifts uncomfortably but accepts the task of finding out who’s to blame. After the Magister leaves, the Queen rants, “Isn’t moral anarchy kind of the point? I can’t think of anything more depressing than living by the law forever.” We learn that her motive for having Eric distribute V is no more complicated than that she needs a lot of money to pay off the IRS. He confesses that Bill has gone missing, but instead of seeing the danger in that, she says to let him rot, wherever he is.

Pam drops by Sookie’s house to give her the check for her services in Dallas. Suddenly, she shivers and says that Eric is calling her and she needs to check in. She then goes to Merlotte’s with more V for Lafayette to sell by the next night. He explains that he’ll never be able to get rid of it all so quickly, plus he has to take care of Tara. Pam quickly puts a stop to his explanation and pins him to the wall: “I don’t know what it is about me that makes people think I want to hear their problems. Maybe I smile too much. Maybe I wear too much pink. But please remember, I can rip your throat out if I need to, and also know, that I am not a hooker. That was a long, long time ago.”

Jessica wakes up with the trucker, still dead and now smelling really bad, lying beside her. Sookie drops in again and asks if Bill has called her mentally like she saw happen with Pam. Jessica admits that it happened while she was sleeping, and Sookie makes her come for a drive and try to figure out the place where Bill had been. Jessica gets a feeling when they’re close, and Sookie sees Bill’s car crashed down the hill. Jessica pulls out the body of the driver and they notice a brand on the neck. They look up the symbol online and find that it has something to do with “Operation Werewolf.”

Bill climbs out of the ground at night and goes to the nearest house. The old lady who lives there says he looks hungry and invites him in. We know what’s coming, and how badly Bill needs to heal, but it still seems cruel when he feeds on someone so helpless and kind. He doesn’t forget his gentlemanly manners when speaking with the old woman and asking to use the phone to which she doesn’t have one.  In another demonstration that he is not cruel after feeding off the old woman, he glamors her into forgetting he was there and places a memory of the son that she longs to see coming to visit her and giving her a wad of money to which Bill places in her hand and then leaves. Outside, he can hear howling. He starts running through the woods and then becomes surrounded on all sides by a pack of wolves. “I should warn you…I’ve fed.” His fangs come out, and thus the end of the episode.

What an exciting beginning to the season! There is so much going on, but we are already so invested in these people’s lives that it wasn’t hard to follow. We still have many more new characters to meet. What were your impressions of the premiere? Favorite moments? That hiatus seemed to go on forever–it’s hard to believe that we only have to wait a week for the next episode!

  1. I’m estonian and what really disturbs me is that the dancer Yvetta speaks russian. Estonia is not a part of Russia and we do not speak russian. We have our own language, estonian, and Estonia is a Republic on it’s own.
In fact, all estonians carry this grudge against russia and russians in our blood, thanks to everything that russia has done to estonia (who knows history, knows what i’m talking about). Anyways, yeah. Here the russian-speaking Yvette makes it look like Estonia is not estonia, but russia. The maker’s could’ve at least gotten that right.
    Other than that, brilliant!

    1. Just speaking for myself Lis-WHOOPS! I wonder where this actress really comes from? Well glad you liked the show anyway, progress not perfection!

  2. OK…the sex scene…everyone waiting to see AS naked !!I think the scene from season 2 (Sookie’s dream) was much more erotic,,though we didn,t “see” as much of Alex Skarsgard. A whole different scene actually…His eyes and voice are “sexy” ..First episode was great ! lots to cover…set stage for season,,and all characters and action to come. (Would like more than 12 episodes..because 40 weeks , such long wait!!)There’s a lot of story lines to follow, and it moves fast (if not getting stuck with another maenad or “creature”..etc.)We need Erics history (he’s 1000 yrs old & a main character), also Sams family, and ‘what is Sookie’..(book readers know)..bring in the warewolves, and kings & queen vamps etc. I would like to see Alan Ball follow some of the story lines from Harris books; Club Dead (3) & Dead To The World (4) for seasons 3 and 4. I think he will take some of it..he’s added his own storylines…that are very interesting also..I love the way the characters have been developed.BRAVO to the actors !!! making Eric, Sookie, Bill, Pam, Jessica, Sam, Laffayete, Tara, etc REAL . and finally, THANKYOU, Alexander Scarsgard;you brought Eric out of the books , and into many many womens (& mens)dreams. These “ERIC” fans are INSANE !! and are looking for everything ‘Skarsgard’. Another winner for HBO !!

  3. I thought it was a fun episode, and the more that I think about what the characters are going through, the more I understood their decisions.

Plus getting to the Sam and Bill shower scene, I thought it was both hilarious and hot at the same time. Is there something wrong with me? xD (Sam was so Dang cute and Bills voice was GUH even though the lines were straight outta a gay porn. xD) “I hear the water in Arkansas is very hard” ;D

Also, Pam was awesome, if there was any vamp I would so hang with It’d be Pam. She REALLY tried hard to make sure sookie didn’t walk in on nekkid mid smex eric. He looks so awesome with the fuzzy almost goatee thingamaboober.

I also enjoyed the “fuck you crew” for some reason, they were so trailor park druggie-esque I was laughing through most of that scene. Plus I think I recognised that guy playing with his tit’s from something else. O_O

Anyways, I enjoyed it, it’s definately one of the better things I have seen on TV this season. Plus I got to see Eric’s ass. 😀

  4. I’m sorry AS the guy who plays Eric because of the weight loss he does not look like hiself. In this season Eric looks old. What happen to the handsome Eric that is portrayed in the books. His chracter does not match up with the books he doesn’t have that I don’t give a dam attitude like Bill do. Bill seems like more of the Sheriff to me.

    1. Goodson gracious you and I must have been looking at different men/vamps! I hope you were not expecting someone like Hulk Hogan!? As far as his age-he is 33 and that was his approximate age in the books. If bulk is what you are looking for,I think the new Were Alcide should suit your purposes.
Eric is my personal favorite and I think he has a GREAT body and is absolutely gorgeous! Of course, thats just my opinion

  5. Ok All Here is My Review of the premiere episode of season 3 of TB:

First of All, The episode picked up right where the finale left off. We see Sookie running out of the restaurant screaming for Bill. When it was revealed just Who abducted him….I was quite surprised and shocked. I thought that I knew Who did it and Who was behind it. As it turned out a shifty gang of skanky Werewolves kidnapped Bill. Of Course, The reason for this abduction and Who exactly was behind it…We will have to find out I suppose. Bill was roughed up and fed on by these Weres and he of course was injured and depleted,Particularly after that Were stabbed him in the arm with a huge switchblade to get blood out of him to feed on and get high off of.
Sookie was somewhat more dominant than usual. She came off as bossy and disrespectful. I know that she was upset about Bill,But she was more snappy than usual to the police,to to Tara even to Eric! All In All, I thought this was an Incredible episode! I thought it was just Awesome! The Storylines were Cool and involving. Sookie and her interactions with Eric and Pam,Sam and his quest to find his birth family~~~BTW there was an erotic “dream” sequence between Bill and Sam. This,I thought was strange and eerie and kind of funny.
Jessica with her fresh kill~~Weird and creepy but kind of funny,Andy & Jason and their antics and musings “Conscience Off,Dick On!” Tara and her Mother and the Reverend and of course Lafayette Another 1 of My favorites on the show.
I thought thatthis particular episode was Well worth the wait!
It did not dissapoint me! Everything that I had been wanting to see I saw and I was amazed at how Cool everything appeared!
The scene with Bill and the Wolves out in the woods was astounding! I look forward to a great and intrigueing season!
It was good to see the Magister and QSA again. It looks like Eric and Pam may be in Real trouble this time! This was the first time I saw Pam look worried and anxious! It seems that Eric Did have something up his sleeve regarding Bill Compton.
When that feel through…Obviously Eric was furious at the party involved fuming at them on his bluetooth “How Could YOU Fail ME!!” I’d Never seen him So angry!
He was Even yelling at Pam “Pam,There are times when I want to hear your advice…This Is NOT One of those Times!”
Whoa! Of Course,When he Magister shows up with QSA its a tense scene because He then explains that the selling of vampire blood is a “blasphemy” and that when found the guilty will be punished.
This is quite a tense scene for Eric and Pam. Especially when afterward,QSA threatens Eric yet again and admonishes him to sell the club and “move the blood”. When he tells her about Bill being missing and that he doesnt know where he is,She says “Let him rot!” I would think she would be a bit more concerned since he knows about the V-juice being sold by vampires
Not to mention,I thought that she liked Bill, too!
It was not unlike a big sporting event in that HBO had a “Pre-Show” and then a “Post-show” feature. Sort of like a pre-game and post game wrap up.
Fans like Myself have waited almost 9 months for this and For Me,I was So Very worth it!
While the scene where Bill feeds on an old woman was somewhat disturbing I knew that he needed to feed to get strong again and he glamored her and left her money and told her that her estranged son had come by to visit and leave the money wit her.
Jason tried again to resume his role of town stud,But could Not get the image of a murdered Eggs Talley out of his head.
And Of Course, Many of the female fans could not wait to see Eric walking around bare!
Anyway it was a great episode and I look forward to a phenominal season!
    Antonio aka Shifterman

    1. Thanks Shifterman. Personally loved the episode too. So much to love in this first installment. I mean really you just can’t beat a naked Viking except perhaps with a naked werewolf. Waiting patiently for next installment “Beautifully Broken”.This is one of two episodes that will feature flashbacks with Eric and Godric. I found the Dallas episodes some of the best last season. Not only compleling but very touching indeed.

I am sure you have all seen the new spoiler pics that were released today from episodes 11 or 12. Looks like the Viking will be frying up quite nicely. Crispy with a hint of smokey flavor. As long as he comes out alright in the long run, bring it on Alan Ball. The Viking can handle himself and anything you throw his way.

  6. Hey, I just had a thought. Yes, I could see the queen getting thrown under the bus, but the queen will not go quietly, I can see her making a big noise. I could also see blame for the whole V fiasco being shifted to someone easier to place blame on that would lnot be able to defend themselves as well. Perhaps because the queen is So desperate for money and what not, She could place Hadley in a compromising situation to save her ass, cause she looked pretty desperate, and besides, Eric is too cool headed most of the time to let this minor speed bump slow him down for too long. My bet is that the queen will be killed off pretty soon, and Eric will find a way to put it all on her. JMO. Thanks for listening.

    1. I think the queen will be around for a while. She may get a severe punishment and be out of the picture for a while, but we need her in the future for the vampire conference if TB goes that far. Good theory. It will be interesting to see how this plays out. 🙂

      1. I agree Jaxx,
AB needs to keep the balance of good and evil on the show and QSA does suppy plenty of that mixed in with pure crazy!! LOL
I think she offers enough drama for now to warrant keeping her around for a bit.
I still think that in the future Eric will make a play for the Louisiana kingdom. She seems pretty useless as a queen. Involved in illegal activities and backrupting the area.
I have always wondered how one became king or queen? What criteria must be met? Is the king/queen dom acquired by rite of combat as they determine it in were packs?? Is it by age? Or inherited as it was for humans. Much to consider and an eventual explanation would be great. Perhaps we will be offered one in the future.

        1. Good question, Nia. I hope they go into that with the vampire politics. I would also like to know the heirachy and what it takes to achieve king or queenship.

          1. I agree Jaxx. I am wondering if the whole King and Queen of each state is determined by some sort of smack down match.

It can’t be entirely by age. QSA admitted to Eric that he was the strongest and oldest vampire in her Queendom. So age is not the determining factor deciding the Kings and Queens.

Perhaps they decide this by measuring fang length. LOL. BTW did you check out Franklin’s fangs. My what long teeth you have Mr. Mott.

          2. pbt, I noticed Franklin and QSA have very long teeth. I wonder if they lengthen with age or are they just “born” that way. LOL.

          3. I think it might be a birth thing. Eric is older than QSA on the show and his are not as long as QSA. Now Franklin Mott appears to be quite “old”. Working for Russell and trying to get the goods on Bill and Sookie so he can report back to his “King”.

This is not going to bode well for Bill. Now did you see the info about Franklin and Jason. Oh my I wonder if our Bon Temps stud is Jason who has some steamy scenes with Franklin??

          4. I believe it would be incredible and quite smart for AB to explore such things in more depth in the show. The idea alone that we have kings and queens in modern America and the possibilities that could develop is infinite.
It would make for more dramatic story lines.

          5. I have not really paid much attention to Franklins fangs but QSA’s are enormous. They even dwarfed Erics. I wonder if there is any significance there.
I am still very interested in how kings and queens are chosen because however QSA got the job….well lets just say WTF??
She is a terrible leader. No integrity, compassion nor sense of honor or loyalty. Oh jeeze I just described many of our own politicians….LOL. So what makes vamps special? I guess they are spending to much time around us lowly mortals.. **snickers**

  7. JMO, but I found the scene with Bill and Olivia quite disturbing. I know that the weres had fed on him and he was injured. But he did feed on the dead “were” at the crash scene.

He arrives at Olivia’s house inquiring about a phone. She says you look hungry. Well, yes. And the next thing we know Bill is going ballistic all over the woman.

The glamoring in this scene was after the attack not before the attack. Just stating the facts here. Such an elderly lady would have blood on her where Bill fed on her. Where was the mess? Her skin was so thin almost like parchment paper. The whole money giving scenario was odd too.

Just stating the facts and some opinions too. I wonder if this whole scene actually happened quite differently. It will be interesting to see if we hear about a murder in Jackson from a vamp attack perhaps on the news.

So many questions. I love True Blood. Nothing is black and white but a perfect shade of gray on so many levels.

5 days until the v-ddiction continues on Sunday! (This is for Antonio since he misses the count down 🙂 )

    1. Pbt,
      What are you talking about?

“I wonder if this whole scene actually happened quite differently. It will be interesting to see if we hear about a murder in Jackson from a vamp attack perhaps on the news.”

He didn’t kill her he left her with a sweet memory of thinking that her son DID visit her (who she was longing to see) and gave her the money making her think it came from her son. Why did he give it to her? Maybe he saw how poor she was and wanted to give it to her. As to your other comment, completely uncalled for as Bill bought a beautiful dress for Sookie and took her to a beautiful restaurant and proposed to her with a diamond engagement ring.

As to him “going ballistic” all we saw was his fangs popping out other then that nothing. Also after the crash he climbed out of the car and did NOT feed on the were, just started walking. Please Pbt I think you are seeing things that you want to see and it seems they always seems to spin Bill in a negative light.

Also Bill is his name. Why so formal and using William Compton. I know Eric fans would not appreciate Eric being spoken to by Bill fans as Mr. Northnam or the Viking Sheriff. They would state his name is Eric so please address him as such. I expect the same respect in return and not to fan the flames.

      1. I was just wondering why Bill didn’t glamour Olivia before rather than after the attack. I thought that would be more humane. That’s all. I realize glamoring after is the same net result but felt initially it would have been better for his victim/prey.

Just asking a question as to whether we are seeing things as they truly happen or perhaps from “Bill’s” POV. I thought the photography in that scene was a little hazy like a dream sequence. JMO.

It seems after attacking the “were” that he would need a quick feed to get on his feet before continuing on his journey back to Louisiana. Though he doesn’t know that he is out of state yet. He was in dire need of blood to help him heal. Speculating here. That’s all.

Just giving an opinion of possibly what happened and what was shown are different.

I enjoyed the episode. I felt the interactions and all the vampire characters were extremely well written in this episode. From Pam and her “lesbian weirdness” with Sookie, to Queen Sophie Anne, the Magister and Eric. I don’t feel that Eric is afraid of the Queen in the least but he does know who is in charge. Well at least for now. It appears that Russell will be making a play for Louisiana. He is in the process of shoring up his power center. I would love to see Eric make a play for the King of Louisiana. I have been happy with most of the changes that Alan Ball has made and that would be a change at this point in the story lines.

Sorry I called Bill Compton, William Compton. I will try not to be so formal. Viking Vampire God is fine with me. *Winking* OK, Eric Northman.

And what a Viking Vampire he is. It is obvious Eric will be getting it from all sides this season. Craziness of Queen Sophie Anne, the Magister and the V sales, his vendetta with Russell? perhaps. I feel for the Viking. It will be hard for him to make everyone happy this season. Least of all Sookie. How is he going to help Sookie when the Queen says “let him rot”?

Does anyone have any ideas what Eric and the Queen’s penalty would be for dealing “V”? Silver chains, a coffin, decapitation or perhaps killing the “V” users they sold to. I wonder if Jason will be buying some more “V” now that his little friend is having erection issues again? We know that Eric warned him not to but let’s face it Jason makes most of his decisions with his “dick” not his brain. Well so far.

I found the dungeon sex scene quite interesting. As Sookie was making her way to the dungeon past Pam (funniest scene, IMO), saying Holy *S*! Eric who is otherwise preoccupied with Yvetta, pauses and doesn’t look. Knows it is Sookie and says “see something you like?” I wondered if the blood tie was coming into play at that moment. At that moment when Sookie (who rightfully so was very concerned about Bill), walks in on the Viking who is occupied with Yvetta “sexcapades”. Let’s face it folks. All of us would have said sorry, excuse me or just headed right back up those stairs after seeing that Bill was not there. Instead Sookie interrupts, doesn’t apologize and of course the rest is history. I know she was upset but geesh Louise Sookie please give the Viking some privacy!

        1. Pbt You’re So Funny!! I alwys enjoy reading your responses!
I liked your take on the whole Sookie walks in on Eric with Yvetta thing! What a scene That was,Huh? LOL
I can pretty much agree with you, though here… Sookie should have given Eric some privacy and a bit more respect..After All he Is the sheriff of area 5! When she saw that he was pre-occupied ~~And Pam tried to stop her from disturbing Eric~~~Love that banter between them! Sookie should have shown him some respect and said something like “I’m Sorry or Excuse Me,Eric.”
She then could have said “May I see you in your office please?”
Or at the very least “I’ll turn away so you can put some pants on.” I Know she was upset about Bill~~Who wouldnt be??
But that did Not give her the right to be disrespectful to Eric
Especially given the fact that he saved her life a couple of times~~I know he decieved her,too But this is how he is!
I did feel bad for her, though It seemed like No one wanted to help her find Bill! Thanks again for the post Pbt and I agee with you for the most part concerning Miss Stackhouse and Mr. Northman. 🙂

          1. I agree that Sookie was extremely upset and rightfully so. Her Bill Compton was missing and she was frantically looking for anyone who would listen let alone care that he was missing.

But I also agree, when you walk in on someone having sex …hmmm. say excuse and I will talk to you in your office. I found it quite refreshing that the Viking didn’t really care if she did walk in. He was more perturbed with Pam than with Sookie.

Eric walking around naked as a jay bird. I personally loved the whole scene. Eric’s reaction at the very end as Sookie is walking up the stairs I thought was quite poignant. The look in Eric’s eyes was very concerned. Alexander really is a very good actor. He is able to do so much with those gorgeous eyes. One of his best features. Well maybe not the best feature but you know what I mean.

I think secretly Pam wanted the Viking to be interrupted so Pam could get some sloppy seconds if you know what I mean. And apparently from spoiler videos Pam gets just that with Yvette.

Just a matter of days until Beautifully Broken. Flashbacks of Godric and Eric. Wohoo. Gotta love that. And also Russell’s mansion and Bill Compton and the weres. We will definitely be finding out who kidnapped Bill. Well we already know really.

        2. I agree with AdoreBill here pbt,

First of all where did you see Bill feeding off the weres??? I have watched many times and unless you saw something different Bill did not feed. I know you seem to make it a mission to try very hard to make Bill look bad, but making things up that are not there is just wrong on so many levels and will be argued with. You have said things like this in the past and I just have to sit back and shake my head. Then perhaps shake my fist at HBO for showing me a different epi. LOL

IMO I believe Bill knew that he needed to get away from there FAST lest he be taken again. In his drained and weakend condition (he told Coot that he was close to death) he could easily be overtaken again. Taking the precious moments to feed may have been his undoing. There was only one dead were in the car, thanks to Bill. Where were the other 3???? One flew off the roof, and the other 2 may have been ejected from the car but not necessarily killed. Weres are stronger than humans and with their injection of Bills blood they had even more added strength. So ultimately Bill had to get away fast.

As to why did not Bill glamour Olivia first, that would have taken more time, it is now another 24 hours with out a feed and having been stabbed and drained. He was in desparate need, yet he did not attack her as soon as she invited him in, but asked for a phone first. I believe had he gotten hold of a phone and called for help he would not have fed from her, JIMO.

Since then no phone and no other help was available, he could not resist and he seemed to make it quick (ballistic not the best choice of words here either). He took what he needed to survive. Also I wonder if he only took a little. She was already frail, yet she seemed fine afterwards.

He then tried what he could to make up for it. He did not have to give her money nor a wonderful memory about a probably negligent son, but he did. Would Eric have done the same if the roles were reversed???? I think we can all agree that with Erics contempt for humans, that he would have drained her dry and left without a second thought, JIMO.

Bill is a vampire gentleman…that is why I adore him!! Although he will be sorely tested as the seasons continue.

Also I do not understand why you continue to use Bills formal name with the contempt you do, it at least is a far cry from the names you have used for him in the past but is completely unecessary. We all know this and it is unwarranted. This has not been the first time AdoreBill has requested respect here from you. Why do you continue so?? We are offering opinions here and discussing. Calling and insinuating names is just not right.

As for Eric, you will never hear me call him anything else here. That would not be right and I would never have the inclination to do so. I enjoy his character and have respect for the actor.

          Team True Blood

          1. Nia what I meant to say is that I wondered if Bill fed on the were before he left the car and crawled out. You are correct he was in a lot of pain and seemed to still be bleeding.

By the time he got to “Olivia’s” house he was no longer bleeding and seemed to be a bit better shape. Of course, this was a whole day later. Just wondered why he didn’t glamour first. Its not like it takes a long time or anything as he has proven that on several occasions. Just wondered.

As far as Eric’s view of humans, I would not characterize as contempt. The only scene we have had so far with Eric and feeding is the scene in Dallas. The blood “whore” was hired and paid for her services. And even told her that he would back up her story that she was “magnificent” when the complete opposite was true. As far as “draining” a human, I think Godric said at 2000 years old, he required that he needed very little blood. I think perhaps Eric would need more than Godric but not as much as Bill would require. Just speculating as to where Alan Ball is heading with all of this.

I think we are headed towards a heck of a season the all of the latest torture scenes (BTW is that Bill on the floor with Lorena?), Eric becoming crispy with Godric?~perhaps a vision. But who really knows.

Antonio, 3 days until the next installment of True Blood. Wohoo!

  8. I found the Sam storyline a waste – he has nothing to do with the rest of the story, and to me it was time wasted that could have been spent on the more interesting stuff (but I’ve always found Sam’s stuff kind of boring).

I enjoyed Eric – we’re starting to see emotion from him. The sex – well yes – that was hardcore, but Yvetta definitely wasn’t complaining (though she was tired). Was this the first time we’ve actually heard the skin on skin sex sounds on the show? I’m gong to assume they were added in post production, since Alex and Natasha were both fully naked and sock-less…

The thing that irritated me about that scene was Sookie. Sookie has lost some of her naivete but she would never carry on a conversation with someone she just interrupted having sex, while they are still naked (and one partner tied up). She would have at least demanded they go to Eric’s office and he put some pants on or something and not have the conversation in front of his f-buddy. Yes, I know she was anxious for info on Bill, but that bit was really out of character for her. She seemed completely nonplussed about what she walked in on, aside from ‘holy s’ and averting her eyes for about 3 seconds while he introduced them.

I don’t think Eric is scared of QSA, I think he’s uncertain of what could happen and knows that his ass (and Pam’s) is on the line. It’s the queen’s issue, and even though he’s just a go-between, it’s his area, so he has a target on his delectable ass.

As for what Eric was going to do with Bill, I don’t think he was going to stake him. I think he was going to threaten him or something of the sort. He knows that Bill was (until he found out the truth) on good terms with the Queen, plus it wouldn’t win him any favours with Sookie. So I’m thinking threat or chained in the dungeon for a bit. Or an ultimatum, like ‘you keep your mouth shut and I won’t nail your girlfriend.’

Loved Pam (so great to see KBvS as a regular!) and I love her with Lafayette. I enjoyed Jason, and Andy and Jason’s new slogan (though it’s not quite working).

I laughed through Sam’s dream. It was (I hope) intentionally hilarious, but I also found it unintentionally hilarious as well because to me the actors just didn’t seem too comfortable in it. Yes, it was out of their comfort zone, but it was really (parden the pun) wooden. I would love to see outtakes though.

  9. I also have to add that the scenes with Jessica were priceless! She acted like a typical teenager on her own, only a Vampire! She doesn’t know how to feed,so she almost drains her victim dry THEN drags him home. When she gets home she puts him in HER sleeping closet and trys to revive him-that doesn’t work so she gives him her blood to turn him but ,of course,he is alreaady dead. NOW she has a smelly, corpse in her bed and NO IDEA what to do with it! Sookie comes by and says”whats that smell?” and she says just a possum under the house-what a hoot!!!!

  10. the first episode was pretty good. The comedy was good. The scenes between Jason,Andy and Hoyt were too funny. Pam is just awesome with her wit and sarcasm. Lordy Eric was ok with Yvetta although i did like looking at what Eric had and Holy hot ass was right! The way he explained his sex stamina!!!!!!!!!!Wow! Wish it was me.
I want more scenes of nude Eric.
Im in anticipation of next sunday!
    Ty TrueBlood! I m completely have a v-addiction!!!!!!!!!!

  11. Thanks Janie for the lowdown on last night’s episode. Totally enjoyed all of it. From Jason and Andy, Jessica and her poor dead trucker, Sookie frantically calling for Bill, Pam and Sookie at Fangtasia, Sam desperately looking for his family, Lafayette trying to save Tara and yes, the Viking in the basement with his sex puppet, Yvetta.

There was so much in the first 15 minutes. It was an absolute roller coaster ride for sure. For those who had not been reading spoilers and watching all the promos I am sure it all seemed quite surreal and out of left field. Personally I devoured each and every morsel. Yes, even the Bill scenes. The scenes in the BMW with the f*ck you gang were some of the best. JMO.

I will disagree with other posters about the Fangtasia scenes. I loved the interactions between Sookie and Pam. Some of the best lines of dialogue for the night. “Sookie, stop, no come back”~ Pam’s lines was awesome. Sookie demanding to see Eric and finding our Viking in a “compromising” position with his Estonian dancer was priceless. I loved watching these interactions. Alan Ball, I am sure is setting up some key scenarios that will come into play later in the season. We need to see our favorite characters in all sort of different situations to play against the contrasts of latter episodes.

I can hardly wait until next Sunday. Is it Friday yet?? Well my top ten lines of dialogue for this episode; “Bad Blood/Pack of Wolves”. I hope you enjoy these selections. Feel free to add your favorites. I only picked the top ten. My original list was like 20. LOL

Number 10: Of course baby girl, wash it all away~ Lettie Mae

    Number 9: B*tch you and me bridge ain’t never gonna f*ckin happen~Lafayette

Number 8: What am I thinking about in my brain.~Jason

Number 7: I am in no mood for lesbian weirdness tonight, Pam.~Sookie

Number 6: Why did you have to go and kill the maenand. She’s a terrific decorator.~Pam

Number 5: That’s gay. Like playing with your tit*es in a car full of dudes ain’t.~ Coot

Number 4: We’re gonna have a nice time. I hear that the water in Arkansas is very hard.~ Bill and Sam

Number 3: Conscience off. Dick on and everything is gonna be alright. ~ Andy

Number 2: Is Bill’s stamina not up to snuff?~ Eric

Number 1: If you and I are gonna be roommates. There is a certain amount of p*ssy overflow you are gonna have to deal with.~ Jason

Again Jason Stackhouse had some of the best lines of the night. Pam and Andy were right in the running up until the very end. Well done Alan Ball and writing staff. Keep up the great work.Bring it on. Bring it all on!

The V-ddiction continues. Wohoo True Blood. Awesome as ever!

  12. This episode was good but it wasn’t great. We have to establish the new characters and fit them in with the old ones. As was previously written, everyone has a story and they will all come together at the end, so everyone is intermingled.

Don’t know why Bill was taken yet or really by whom, but we know it wasn’t Eric. Probably Lorena and Russell. Can’t wait to see what skeletons Bill has going on along with everyone else.

Tara is a mess, Arlene is just being Arlene, hoping the Sam story is going to be a good one. Love Pam’s one liners and her sarcastic wit.

I want to see everyone’s good side and bad side. I think we will see it here. I actually liked the Queen this episode and I wasn’t a fan of her last year. Eric is just being his vampire self, he and Yvetta are only in it for the sex, at this point. He is single and not in a committed relationship, so let him have his fun. If anyone was acting arrogant and smug, it was Sookie.

Truthfully, though, reign Sookie in a bit. She was bitter, angry, disrespectful, arrogant, bossy, etc. in every scene. Tara just lost her boyfriend and is a total mess and that’s all Sookie could say was “Bill’s missing too”. I know she’s upset, but like it was said before, this is not the Sookie Stackhouse chronicles. She should have had more compassion for Tara’s situation considering what she told Eggs drove him over the edge, and yes, Eggs did want to know to the truth.

I don’t know, Sookie is going to turn me off if she keeps up this snarky attitude. Being upset and crying I can understand but just being downright rude and nasty to everyone is another, JIMO.

    1. I do understand where you’re coming from, but Sookie just discovered that Bill’s gone, and she’s freaking out too. Plus, no one seems at all concerned about Bill. Wouldn’t you be worried if someone you loved went missing and no one acted like they cared at all? That would piss me off really badly, and I’d probably act the same way Sookie did.

As for her scene with Tara, Tara was in the wrong. Yes, Tara just lost Eggs, but that really is partially his fault, as he practically forced Sookie to show him his past actions. Tara’s so focused on herself and her loss that she can’t show empathy to anyone else? Sookie’s justifiably worried about someone other than herself. Tara is not.

      1. Isis, yes I would be upset if my boyfriend or someone I loved went missing. I would be worried, scared, upset, cry, even be angry but it was just something in the way Sookie came across that I didn’t like. People were trying to help her but she was sarcastic with Kenya, disrespectful to Sheriff Dearborn, even when Pam gave her the check and it was for more money than agreed upon, even Pam said she would convey a more grateful message to Eric, bossy with Jessica, bossy with Pam at Fangtasia (although Pam’s reaction was the best, “Oh Sookie, please don’t go down there”. snicker, snicker.

I think this episode was just a little hurried because we have a lot of new character and plotlines and ground work had to be set for the new characters. Once we meet all the characters and know their place in S3, things will start to flow better.

I don’t know, just my opinion, but Sookie over did it a little and it rubbed me the wrong way. From spoilers I’ve seen for the next couple episodes, she seems to calm down a bit. Hopefully, this was just for the first episode.

And I have to add I really like the Bill storyline so far this year. SM did a great job with it.

        1. I have to agree about the plot development and the new characters. To someone new to the show I am sure it felt like they were on “speed” while watching that episode. Full steam ahead at vamp speed.

I personally liked this episode but I will agree about snarky Sookie. This is not a reference to Anna’s acting in the least. This is how the character is being written so far. I thought she could have been more compassionate with Tara.

Tara and Jessica’s story lines were so compelling in this episode. I really felt for their characters and what they were going through. That is a testament to both Rutina Wesley and Debra Ann Woll’s acting abilities. Amazing. When Debra was clutching those flowers and thinking about Hoyt and the dead body in the crawl space. Uhhh. Poor Jessica she can’t seem to catch a break. Perpetual virgin and now she kills her first unsupervised feed. We know she fed at Fangtasia with Eric but I am sure the Viking supervised her. Obviously Jessica is a teenage vamp in need of supervision. TVINS. LOL.

      2. One other thing I forgot to comment on, Tara is on the verge of suicide, I’m sure she’s so distraught that she’s not thinking of anyone, not even herself.

      3. Hi Jaxx,
On that point I have to agree with Isis here.
Sookie was desparate, Bill was abducted and right before she said yes to his proposal. She saw the restaurant mess and saw it as a struggle. She was the only one to see this correctly. Kenya was being very cool about the whole thing. And Bud did not even consider Bill a “PERSON”. How wrong is that?? She was getting no help and no one seemed to care.

I agree with Isis again that Tara was in the wrong. Yes Tara was hurting but so was Sookie. Even though Sookie was frantic for her man she was also supportive and honest with Tara, she could have lied but she didnt. Tara attacked Sookie verbaly and physically. Tara lost Eggs but Sookie lost Bill. Both girls were hurting. Sookie would never have attacked Tara though. Could not have Tara given Sookie a bit of comfort as well? Sookie is getting support from no one, not evern her best friend. I would be frustrated too.

        1. Nia, I can see your point about Sookie being upset, but to me, Tara was not in her right frame of mind. She is contemplating suicide at this point, which Sookie is not. Tara is definitely not thinking straight. I guess they were both so distraught in different ways that it was probably both their faults. I’m sure Sookie will be upset at what went down after she realizes Tara took pills and tried to kill herself. I’m sure there will be some soul searching after Sookie finds this out.

I don’t know much about the south and their values, but I’m wondering if maybe Kenya and Sheriff Dearborn just expected the vampires to take care of missing vampires using their own laws and not human laws??? Sheriff Dearborn is an old southerner and while this is no excuse for bad manners, it has been known that he harbours prejudices against ALL the vampires. We saw that in Season 1. And, yes this doesn’t make it right either.

I don’t know why but in just this episode Sookie’s attitude rubbed me the wrong way. I’m sure things will be different in epi 2.

          1. Evening Jaxx,

            Ok, here we go……JIMO…..
With Tara, we must consider what a situation our clueless Sookie walked into. She goes to her home to see a sad Tara, after no help from Kenya, no help from Jessica, and certainly not any help from Eric..

(who, by the way, assumed that the missing Bill was taken on HIS orders as he stood there all smug and not really lying to Sookie because he really did not abduct Bill but had some one else attempt to do his dirty work for him while he was busy and had a perfect alibi, at least that is what he thought at the time)

…and immediately goes to Tara, she did not ask about Bill nor exclaim her woes to everyone first, but instead she rushed to her friend, clasped her hands and asked what was wrong.

Sookie had no idea of the state of mind Tara was in, only that she was sad as Sookie was. Actually Sookie seemed more frantic, as she should be. Her fiance was cruelly taken from her and no one cares. Of course Sookie did not have the benefit of Lafayettes generous medicine cabinet.LOL

After listening to Tara, Sookie, shocked, then told her the truth. Would it been better if she lied?? I do not think so, Tara and Sookie are best friends. Sookie told the truth and then apologized.

I am sure Sookie had no idea of the violent intent of Tara, and hoped she would understand, after all Sookie did not mean to hurt Eggs, just set his mind free. Tara then attacked her best friend. After all Sookie and Bill did for her and the entire town.

Sookie never wanted to help Eggs find out the truth but he made her. How could she have known it would end this way?
Sookie went to Tara and tried to make her feel better, never mentioning Bill till the end.

And this after she had to deal with Kenya who made a wrong assumption about the situation. As a policeman she should have considered all possibilites. It should have been treated as a crime scene til proven differently. If it was a simple missing persons then I can understand no need for urgency, but because I believe that Kenya, who is very close to Bud D., shares Buds open dislike for vampires. She probably also does not consider Bill a person. That is a terrible prejudice on both their parts. If only they knew what Sookie, Bill and Sam did for their little town…

Sookie losing Bill felt just as bad as Tara losing Eggs, obviously Taras situation was more gruesome because she saw his mutilated body but Sookie did not know that.
Tara was out of line, yes she was distraught but still… Where is the compassion and friendship for Sookie????

Many here think Sookie was rude, bossy, etc. but she was frantic for her fiance and no one was helping her. She knew there was violence and she was right. Put yourself in her shoes.

Now let me pose this question to some of you. lets turn the tables, if it was Eric in Bills position, should she just sit back, go home and wash her hair??? I bet I know what your true answers to that question would be.

So dont blame Sookie because she was desparate to find her man. I would have done the same, whether Bill or Eric, if it was MY man I would move heaven and earth to get him back.

          2. Hi Nia, It’s ok if we see things differently. It makes it more fun the more opinions everyone has. It would just be dull if we were like robots and saw every situation the same.

I think Sookie and Tara will both realize the severity of each other’s situation once they both have their heads on straight, although it may take Tara a little while longer in her case. Even best friends aruge and make up. It happens to all of us at some point in our lives. I think a lot of Tara’s problems stem from maybe a little jealousy that Sookie has someone and Tara can’t seem to find the right one yet. Poor Tara, I do feel for her in that regard. I think we all know someone like her.

I just think humans assume vampires take care of their own with their own laws for these things as humans would take care of human problems. Eric will get her help in the form of Alcide. And, of course, I would not have liked it if Eric would have been kidnapped and tortured either but the seasons not over yet and I have a feeling by the looks of the burnt Eric in the last episode spoilers that he has his own punishment coming to him.

          3. After I watched the episode the first time, I felt like Sookie was overdoing it but I’ve watched the episodes a couple times now and I guess I can understand why Sookie was so bossy and rude to everyone. Bill had just been taken by Lorena, held captive and nobody was taking her seriously. She had to feel helpless. As far as Tara was concerned, I’m really trying to like her storyline, because she was one of my favorites but I’m getting tired of this constant turmoil they put her character in and her being so violent (Rutina is a great actress for pulling all that off, though). I’m not saying make everything happy because happy is boring but I really miss the Tara from season one. She wasn’t happy then and had drama but she was also feisty, independant, confrontational and funny. Maybe it’s just me. I hope the introduction of Franklin will help things in her storyline.

    2. I have to agree with you about Sookie/Anna. She was a little over done but last season there were times she was the same way. I do think the episode was too quick between story lines, so I do hope that was just an effort to get all the story lines started and it will slow down. Sam and Tara seemed to be dull. We need Tara back from season one and Sam back from the ends of seasons one and two. They always seem to start off slow with Sam and I hope his story line gets better. Eric naked was awsome, especially when he was talking with Sookie but Eric’s “interaction” with Yvetta was disappointing. It was too much like the scene from season 1 with the bald vampire, been there done that. I know she is just a sex toy but it could have been done much better and her dancing on the pole with her falling out of her top was nasty, that could have also been done better. I’m not crazy about the whole Eric being so scared of the Queen thing either, the Magistrate I can see but not the Queen. I am hoping that will change. Eric looked geogeous, clothed or un-clothed. Loved the wardrobe they got going for him and Pam this season. Pam was wonderful in all her parts and the exchange with Eric was the best of his scenes. It showed her affection and worry for Eric’s wellbeing. I am a devote Eric fan and I know that he has some better storylines coming up but Alex’s acting was wonderful, despite the storylines for him the other night. I have to say my favorite scenes of the episode were with Bill/Stephen. They showed him as a badass we hadn’t seen yet and sesitive, which is what we’re familiar with. He had been getting dull but the other night he was off the chain!!! I hope they continue in this direction with him because it’s the only way he’s going to stand up to Eric/Alex. Looking forward to “Beautifully Broken”. This is the episode that the folks who got a sneak peek at the first 3, seemed to love the most.

      1. Very nicely said annm!
I agree with much of what you said, although I do not believe that Eric is scared of SA, but more furious with her, and rightly so. She is making him do something extremely illegal.
I can see Eric making a future powerplay for King of Louisiana, unseating her. Face it she is a lousy queen but with a great day room!! LOL

        Team True Blood!

        1. Nia, I hope your right because Eric being scared of anyone and being so out of control(scene with Pam) is very at odds with how they have built his character so far. I hope he does make a play to be the King but that will probably depend on how close Alan is going to follow the books with the political part. I like Alan’s direction with the politics much better than what is in the books. Bill is not my favorite vamp on the show, Eric is but Bill’s scenes were better the other night than Eric’s, except for the nudity. Sorry, Eric/Alex is the bomb even if how it was presented was a bit crass. Hopfully they will continue Bill with the same intensity and go in the direction with Eric (showing he has feelings) they started to go in, with the whole Godric stuff. That is the storyline that got me hooked on Eric. I think they will continue, they just had to get the whole Eric/nude/sex stuff going because of the interest in it. We’ll just have to see!!

          1. annm, I have to agree with you. The naked viking was great, but we need a little more substance in his role that just that. He has a great mind and heart and being an Eric lover also, I hope we get to see more of the latter (but I’m not stupid a naked Eric is great too). lol.

          2. Hi annm, I really enjoy your posts! You too Jaxx (*waves*).

I admire both your honesty, observations, and sense of fair play. It is quite refreshing.

I am glad you have Eric as your favorite. Just as much as Bill is mine and also for so many others, but of course we do have to give credit where credit is due, and that includes everyone.

I do apologize if I came down a bit hard on Eric in my earlier “to wordy” post. You must understand, I have had to read unfair, terrible, and unjustified posts about Bill for well over a year merely from what some have deduced from the books (personally I did not think Bill was bad at all in the books, just caught between a rock and a hard place as usual). And Eric has been pretty awful. But that is what is fun about him. And I do like his humor.

Bill in TB is a great guy/vamp who is love sick, and trying to find himself, the man he was before he was turned. If Sookie is the miracle that can help him and he loves her so much, which is rare for his kind, can you blame him at times for his actions?

He fell in love and that love was returned. Had not any weres showed up at the restaurant, Sookie would have accepted Bills proposal, they would have flown off to Vermont, married and lived happily ever after. Well we cant have that yet. LOL. As great dramas go, there must be doom and gloom on the horizon first. How else can we be made to feel so deeply for our favorites. This drama evokes such passion in us all.

So getting back, I tend to act as mother hen to Bill sometimes and go into protection mode when I feel the need, its on automatic drive and kicks in of its own accord (down boy, down!).
Anyways, I am sure you all feel the same about Eric.
            Can’t help it.
The heart loves what the heart loves.

Now, annm, I agree about the way AB is presenting the political angle on the show. Much better than the books. As to Eric, I do not believe at all that he is scared of the queen, she is dangerous and a lunatic as well. He is furious with her, that much was obvious, and I think if he could he would take her out.

I truly believe that he would go for it, take the kingdom. See that is the difference,at least so far, between Bill and Eric. Eric has high asperations on the political front, but Bill wants to live quietly. That was the same in the books.

OK, lets get down to real business, as to the good looking naked men in the show, they are all gorgeous, but to be honest, the best body has to go to Alcide. Growwl! But that is just an observation, does he or even Eric do it for me?? No, I am all for Bill, just the way it is! And not going to change!! See for me, I love Bills(Stephens) eyes, his sculpted face, his gorgeous hands, his slim hips, his hairy chest(down girl down, cracking whip)….I could go on, but you all don’t want to hear that. LOL You have your own vamp to love.

Erics nude scene has been highly anticipated by his fans and AB had to get in in real quick! So hope Y’all were happy! He has a nice physique, no complaints, just not my type.
His sex scene was not appealing, it was pretty cold, but yes, it was just sex. There will be more for Eric as the season progresses. That is a given. I say bring it on!

Jaxx, I agree that the magister did not buy their story at all. If Eric should be afraid of anyone I think it should be him. Unless AB fits the magister with a red shirt…LOL.

I have another theory, what if ERic and the queen try to pin the V selling on Bill? Talk about getting him out of the way!! Now come on we all know that Eric is devious and underhanded.

AB may have to come up with something for next season. Then again, what of the dead body in Bills house?? What if Bill takes the fall for Jessica??? Someone will be looking for the trucker. I smell more trouble for our Bill (and it stinks of dead trucker). Poor guy doesnt get a break. Too many people working against him.

There, I did it again, LOL. I just got home from a loooong night at work and this discussing is actually soothing and relaxing, helps me wind down.

Well, look forward to discussing again. The episodes dont come fast enough, then again before you know it they will be done.
            Sigh!

            Team True Blood!

          3. Hey Nia, interesting theory about pinning the V sales on Bill, could be possible, I guess, but I think the Magister knows more than he’s letting on about QSA and Eric’s dealings. Eric’s office was bugged at least once. Who’s to say the Magister didn’t have someone bug it again as well??? Someone bribed on the inside, Chow??, Dopey Ginger?? Or the Magister could have had QSA’s mansion bugged. She has a lot of employees working there. I imagine they all have their price.

No matter what, it looks like no one is innocent at all this season. LOL. Very interesting to see how this all plays out into one big intertwined web.

          4. Hi Jaxx,

Well we know that for the amnesia story to take place and it probably will, Bill has to be occupied elswhere. I think that pinning the V sales at some level on Bill would make sense. It may get him out of the way…again… and make room for Eric to step in. Then again Bill may be held responsible for the truckers death. He could take the fall to protect Jessica. Afrer all he did not teach her correctly about feeding from humans and when to stop (obviously neather did pam or Eric though). Of course his emphasis was on teaching her to mainstream, yet she was acting as a teenager and going against her “parent’s” wishes because she was angry and acted on impulse…so like a teen.

I found the “bugging” of Erics office veeerrrrry interesting and I feel may have great significance later on. Eric was not at all happy with QSA…He was ready to take her on. Is it just me or does QSA’s fangs seem bigger than everyone elses???
I think Ginger is to dumb to be a spy but Chow?? Could be. He is new after all. Someone had to have done it, will be interesting to find out who.

Ahhhhh the lies and intrigue, the betrayals and suffering…going to be a hell of a season!!!

            Team True Blood!!!

          5. I have not seen any pics with Godric and Eric as Nazi’s. So I am not sure if this an internet rumor or just people speculating. As far as Russell, using weres I think we will see that in the past and in the present.

Sookie and Jessica finding the Operation Werewolf marking on the dead were just confirms perhaps a Nazi connection. Perhaps the weres were working for Hitler and Eric/Godric were actually spies for the Allied forces. Sort of like, a double spy situation. Siding with “good side” and helping out England and the United States. Perhaps that’s how they both end up in the United States eventually. While we know this is not from the books, anything would be possible in Alan Ball’s world. I will keep any eye out for the pics and let you know if I see any.

BTW sort of off topic. Have you seen the Snoop Dogg video about “Sookie”. I laughed all the way through. Too funny. Thank you Snoop Dogg for the comic relief.

          6. pbt, have the vid of Snoop Dog but haven’t watched it yet. Heard a lot about it though. 🙂

        2. Hi Nia, I have to admit I did think about Eric making a play to be King of Louisiana. He will have to get out of the “V” mess with the queen if that would ever happen. And who are QSA and Eric kidding, the Magister didn’t buy their story for one second. It’ll be interesting to see how they wiggle their way out of this one. I think the Queen will be thrown under the bus myself but who knows.

          Is it Sunday yet??? 🙂

          1. Hey Jaxx. I agree. It would be great if Eric became the King of Louisiana but I don’t see that happening anytime soon. I agree that the magister does suspect both Eric and QSA. As Isabelle infered (with her look) and Lorena (stated) the Viking is a terrible liar. I think this fact will come into play this season. Perhaps with a conversation with Sookie or some other key situation perhaps a tribunal for V sales.

          2. Hello pbt!! Yes a tribunal is definitely in the works. I wonder what the Magister will do to them. Silver chains in a coffin for years??? Hang them on a wall, not feed them for a long time???? Eric is rumored to be making out a will. I think he fears the worst but he is never afraid of much. Losing Godric was the worst possible thing that could have happened to him.

          3. Jaxx:

Yes, I was wondering if we know what kind of punishment would be in store for the Queen and Eric? Yes losing Godric was a major loss for the Viking. I think in Beautifully Broken we get a flashback to Eric’s past and I wondered why he hates weres. I think it has to do with his family. JMO. I believe that the next episode is when Eric saves Sookie from the weres and it appears that Sookie shoots Eric.

          4. pbt, I’ve got a feeling a were killed his mother, father or sibling. Do I remember correctly that the viking had a baby brother/sister his mother is supposed to be holding in a flashback this season??? This spoiler was a long time ago.

          5. Yes, there was a spoiler around January that stated that we would me the King and Queen. And Queen would be holding a small child or baby. God if Alan Ball has the weres killing Eric’s brother or sister no wonder he hates weres. Vendetta with a capital V. I wonder if Russell is involved somehow? We know the weres work for him.

          6. I’ve been wondering abut the whole Eric and his vengence thing too. I know they talked about who to cast as Eric’s father but they also seemed to indicate that Dad wasn’t very happy with Eric. I must have missed the Eric flashback that shows a woman and child. Where can I find this? ** spoiler from books ** It just occured to me that in the books, maybe 9, Eric told Sookie he had a wife and children when he was human. I wonder if this is a very well kept casting secret from AB. That would explain the vengence but if they were killed by a werewolf, according to the books they aren’t immortal like vamps, so he can’t have his vengence on the same one but if Russell is very old and has always used them for his dirty work, that might be a connection between Eric and Russell. What do you think?

          7. annm, I agree, good theory. Russell is somehow involved with the were community and has been for generations. This is when things will get interesting as we delve into the vamp politics. We’ll find out the whos and whys this season.

Eric hates the weres so something definitely happened. In the books Eric was married with a family before he was turned, but I don’t think he’s being portrayed as being married in TB, at least not when he was dying and said there are always women around for him. I think he was just a viking warrior that never had the chance to marry, but I could be wrong about that. I think it’s going to be a crime against his mother, father or siblings. But with TB, who knows, anything is possible. Can’t wait to find out.

          8. Well we know that on TB that Russell is definitely older than Eric. So there could be some “Bad Blood” between the both of them.

As far as vengeance, I do believe the weres are involved in that plot line. This week’s episode the weres will be showing up at Sookie’s house and that will invoke a flashback for Eric with Godric. How far back we are not certain yet. The Eric flashback with his father and the Queen. The child is not Eric’s child but his brother/sister. These characters will be linked to the weres somehow this season.

Well in promos, we know that Eric says he can not go to Jackson. One can only surmise Eric says this because Mississippi is under the rule of Russell.

I foresee a lot of side deals, lying, deceiving and double agendas in this season. As long as Mary Ann doesn’t show up I will be perfectly fine. Whether the Viking is clothed or not. Nudity is nice but only if moves the plot forward and its for a purpose.

          9. Jaxx and pbt: Yesterday I found some news outlet that let it slip the flashback with Eric and Godric, in the second episode, will take place WW I with them dressed as Natzis. They didn’t say whether they were Natzis or just dressed up to look like them. Could this fit in with the “Operation Werewolf” rune Sookie and Jessica found on the guy’s (who took Bill) neck? I’ve read other supe books that went with the idea that Hitler preformed experiments on werewolves in the pursuit to create the perfect soldier. I’m wondering if this is an angle AB is going but maybe Hitler included vampires in his experiments or maybe the vampires were used to keep the Weres in line? Who knows but I was rather shocked they were going to WW I. I think I just assumed they were going back to the dark ages with them.
Also Jaxx, I think your right about the Eric not being married in tv series. When he was changed they did make it seem he was a solider, not married because of the women statement, so probably it is going to be his mother and a sibling or maybe a sister that had a baby that he revenges. I wonder how soon we will know who the person is? Counting the days down again til Sunday.

          10. Hey Jaxx and Pbt, Just found some spoiler pics of Eric and Godric from the final episode on askarsgard.net. Warning the pics are very graphic (bloody). Looks like Eric’s not going to be doing so hot in the final episode. Thought you two might want to check it out.

          11. Hi annm, I saw the pics and it looks really intense. Should be a heck of a seaon finally.
As to Erics past. I believe that he was not married going by what was exchanged between him and his fellow soldier/friends at his near death. This vendetta could involve possibly with a family member. What if his father was killed?? Perhaps a takeover of sorts. Russell is older than Eric I believe and we see that he likes to use weres now, what would have stopped him from using them then?? Just some random speculating here.

Russell trying to aquire Bills loyalty, then pitting him against QSA and Eric, this could be a possiblity.
            Again lots of intrigue ahead.

Also the idea of Godric and Eric as Nazis is awful and funny at the same time. Of course Eric could pass as a perfect Nazi, he has the arian look. But the question is were they Nazi’s or spies working against them. If AB wants to make Erics character more a better person, It will not be by making him a Nazi, thats for sure. So time will tell. Whatever it is I am looking for ward to all the flashbacks. They really make the show!

          12. annm, pbt, nia: Looked at the pics. Oh boy, not looking good for Eric. Wonder what his punishment was. Can’t wait to find this out.

Nia, I had to laugh at your comment because when I first heard Eric was in a Nazi uniform, I had the same reaction, I thought it was tragic and awful, but then laughed as I pictured him in it. (And, please, no disrespect to anyone here at all.) I wonder if Hitler will be in it and if Eric was Hitler’s right hand man or something just as odd. Godric too. What were those 2 up to?? So much I want to know. Anyone know where the pictures of Eric/Godric in the Nazi uniforms are? I have to see that.

          13. Jaxx, you may have not meant any offense, but you definitely offended me. As someone who lost family during the Holocaust and to this day knows a survivor of that horrendous tragedy that killed over 11 million people (it was more than just 6 million Jews), I cannot believe that anyone would be so insensitive as to think that an actor wearing a SS uniform is funny.

Please keep in mind that though many of us were not alive during the time Hitler was in power, and the survivors of the Holocaust (on both sides) are dying of old age now, this is not to be laughed at. Instead, maybe a viewing of The Shoah Project and Schindler’s List are in order…

And Nia, I don’t understand how anyone could find Nazis funny, even when just portrayed on a television show.

          14. Isis, it truly was not my intention to offend anyone. This is not my personal opinion of the Holocaust at all. In fact, when I do see pictures of that horrific event, I can’t believe humans could treat each other that way. The only reason I was laughing to myself was picturing Eric wearing the uniform and wondering if he knew Hitler or if Hitler knew Eric and/or Godric were vampires. That’s all. I promise you that. Therefore, I do heartily apologize for offending you.

          15. Oh Isis, of course the holocaust was horrific. As Jaxx said, it was just the idea of Eric in a uniform that was rediculous, not the Nazi situation itself. I am quite familiar with all that was the horror of that time.
My parents were affected greatly by the war, living in Europe at that time, and had to endure German/Allies occupation as well as the starvation and terror of it all. My mother recalls having German soldiers living in their home.
We here of our generation are fortunate to never have had to live through such a hell on earth and I pray that it never visits again.
            Please accept my deepest appologies.

          16. Isis nobody meant any harm about saying Eric in that uniform would be funny. My Grandmother was born in Germany, was a teen during Hilter’s time and many people work under the misconception that because they were German, they had it made. Everybody suffered. She, although injured, survived many bombs attempts on thier farm and town. I, having this family history, did not find the comments by anyone here the least bit offesive.

Respectfully, not to knock on your family history or sesitivity on the subject because you are entitled to your fellings, nobody thinks Hitler is funny but to get all ugly to someone making a harmless comment on a tv series website is a bit much. As a thoughtful warning: you should think about the context of this show and be prepared that they may (the writers) could take a comical edge on this Natzi storyline. They have covered other subjects such as racisim, homosexuality, drug addiction etc, and took a comical pokes at them that some may have found offensive, so it stands to reason they could do this with the Natzi stuff too.

To Jaxx Nia and Pbt: the pictures I saw were of Eric all bloodied up, not in a Natzi uniform. Sorry I didn’t make that very clear, I wanted to let you know some pics were out there, without spoiling what the pics were of, in case you wanted to wait for the show. I don’t know if there are pictures of the whole Natzi thing out there but I think this storyline is going to start in these first 3 episodes. I read somewhere, from someone who reveiwed the first 3 episodes, that they were in the uniforms.

          17. Hi annm,

I think what Isis is trying to explain is that even if it is a TV series, and yes True Blood does touch on sensitive issues, there are some issues such as the use of Nazi symbols that are too raw and personal to even to be made light of. My mother and my uncle (her brother) grew up in Europe with bombs dropping all around them, enemy soldiers coming up to their farm and witnessing family members and friends blow into pieces or decapitated. My uncle was taken by the Nazis as a slave at the age of 13 otherwise the whole family would be shot if he didn’t go. For 5 years he was a slave and had to endure the concentration camps for 3 months as punishment for not siding for a Nazi soldier in an argument with a French citizen. In those months he saw horrific things and endure so much. For in the camps it was not Jewish people in there but anyone who was not of the Aryan race.

He survived and manged to come to Canada but it still pales to having family member executed due to who they were. So I can understand why Isis took it so personally but to down play her feelings seems just as harsh. I just hope Alan uses the metaphors to demonstrate how people can be so cruel to cast others away based on who they are.

          18. In my comments I said I was not playing down her feelings. Also, as I said, I have family history with that war and I am familar with the horrors, many are and we do not need it explained to us by anyone. Jaxx was not being hateful in what she said, it was a very basic comment, like many posted on here. However the comments Isis posted to Jaxx were hateful and she basically reprimanded Jaxx. Suggesting Jaxx watch “Schilders List” was just out of line. I understand Isis was upset but that doesn’t make her being ugly to someone on here okay.
Like many fan forums, this should be for enjoyment, entertainment, respectful discussion, exchange of information about the show, etc… Most of us do stick to the enjoyment/entertainment factor and I hope it coninues to be that way, otherwise it just ruins it for everyone and people will stop coming here.

          19. Jaxx and Nia, thank you both for your apologies. I do understand that I’m very sensitive to the Holocaust, so I apologize myself if I sounded harsh to either of you. I have a feeling that I didn’t say what I wanted to as clearly as I normally do.

      2. Hi Annm I agree with you that Sookie did seem more “bossy” and rude than usual. I undertstand what you said about her being upset because she was looking for her beloved Bill.
First of all, One of the main reasons that I like Sookie Stackhouse is because she quite a strong and resourceful young lady! Unlike Bella Swann,Who “fell apart” when Her vampire lover left her..Then seeking solace in the arms of another..Werewolf Jacob Black.
Sookie is a “fighter” and is determined to fight for what she wants! She will Not go “quietly” and let this Bill thing go!
I felt bad for her…No 1 seemed to want to help her!
Officer Kenya had the attitude that Sookie was “better off” Because Bill was abducted..Quite insensitive of her!!
Sheriff Dearborne?? He didnt even think that Bill was a “person”! “Please tell me you did not just say that!” Sookie was incredulous at his response! rightly so!
Bill IS “family” to her! She loves him!
I can understand why she was so snippy. I don’t think that she should have been disrespectful to Eric Or Pam But i guess she was upset.
That exchange between Sookie and Pam was classic i thought
She said something about being in No mood for “lesbian weirdness tonight” Funny
I would say that Sookie is a stronger somewhat more resourceful character than Bella. ~~~~Even though Bella Does become stronger and more dominant After she becomes a vampire~~
        1 thing remains here….
Bella “begs” her Vampire love,Edward to “turn” her..She loves him and wants to be with him..To be what he is. Her logic is that as long as she remains mortal that Something will inevitably separate them…perhaps for good! She does not like that idea very much at all! Bella to Edward: As long as I’m human,Something will happen to separate us…illness, death, age
The Only solution is to change me.”
Edward to Bella: Thats Not a solution,Thats a tragedy!”

Meanwhile Sookie does Not want to even consider becoming a vampire like Bill or Eric! She loves Bill and yet she wants No part of his vampire “life”.
Hugo thought she was crazy maybe because He wanted “in” to the vampire lifestyle through Isabel of course.
It brings up a very good question Namely How could you love someone and Not want to be like them…like how they are??
Wouldnt she say something like “Bill,I Love you I want to be with you,Always 1 day you will have to “turn” me.
Maybe Bill would offer a rebuttal:
Bill: But Sookie If I were to turn you I’d No longer be just your lover I’d also be your maker!” “You would be bound to do whatever I say Whatever I command even if you didnt want to
        Would you really want that??”
Sookie: Are You saying that I couldnt be a vampire..like You and have my Own mind my own way of seeing things?”
Bill: Darlin’ you could but it would be difficult I had to do whatever Lorena commanded me to I did it for 60 years!
Sookie:But You broke away from her right?
Well as you can see Maybe it would be much more difficult than just asking him to drain her.
        Anyway this is just MHO

        1. I agree with you Sookie rocks and Bella is just whinny. Sookie, to me, sets a better example of how to be independant and resourceful young woman. I think it’s a danergous message Bella sets out there for young girls, especially when she basically wants to die because Edward has left her in New Moon. I think maybe I thought Sookie was too much because the whole episode flew from story to story. I do hope they slow that down some.

          1. annm and antonio, I agree. The first episode was very fast moving and maybe that’s why it seemed like Sookie was so frantic and bossy in her actions. We had to continue from S2 and establish new plots and characters coming in S3, all in 55 minutes. There was a lot going on. I think Sookie was in initial shock in this episode. From spoilers I’ve seen, I think Sookie will calm down and begin focusing on how to find Bill in the next couple episodes and once Alicde is introduced, she will get the help she’s been asking for and things will calm down a little for her, jimo.

          2. Yes annm, Jaxx and antonio,
You all just confirmed what I said all along. Sookie was not overly bossy, rude….she was just frantic for her missing man. She did not overstep her bounds what so ever. She was up against a brick wall and trying to break through with no help no matter where she turned.
We all know Sookie to be head strong and outspoken. That has obviously not changed.
I so agree with the comparison of Sookie to Bella. I do not like Bella in the least. Whinny is an excellant description annm.
As to a role model to young girls…..I shudder to think.

          3. I quite agree I like the Twilight Saga But I agree that the character of Bella Swann is Not a good role model for young ladies. In New Moon,Her vampire love Edward leaves her and it seems she “falls to pieces” Her Vampire lover has left her so she tries to “be with” him again by jumping off a cliff into the sea?? Even in the book,It seems like the only way she can be “with” him again after he leaves her is by doing reckless deeds? She is So messed up over his departure that she begins putting herself in danger just so she can “hallucinate” him?
This Is Not a good thing to project onto young impressionable ladies. Can You imagine Sookie Or Tara Walking into a truck on the road because of what happened to them? I cant!
Bella Swann: Without Edward There was Nothing like a big hole had been punched through my chest I saw his face everywhere and the absence of him was keenly painful as if i couldnt breathe anymore

Sookie Stackhouse: They took someone I love from Me,I was taught to fight Back! Im Not gonna let this go! I Cant Not while He is still out there!

Now Which Gal sounds stronger and more resourceful to You?
Nothing agaisnt the Twilight saga but Bella disobeys her dad, drives her friends crazy and ultimately breaks Jacob Black’s heart by choosing Edward Over him…She cuts school to go far out into the woods with Jake Only After Edward proposes to her
Sookie is head strong and responsible!
She does what she believes is right!
At least,At This point,Sookie Knows What she wants and Who she wants.
Sookie is a better role model for young ladies Is Edward Cullen a good role for young men?? Dont Know about that 1
But Bill Compton and Sam Merlotte would be good role models for young men I think because they are forthright and kind and honest and loyal! Edward Cullen walks out on his true love,Bella because he thinks she would be better off without him
Kind of cowardly for him to do huh? Bill left Sookie because he needed to be seen before the Magister in a trial for killing a vampire to save a human!!
Bill had No choice which is why he asked Sam to watch over her
Edward Never Had to leave Bella He Chose to because of self deluded behavior and thinking.
Bill Doesnt Love Sookie because he needs her
He Needs her BECAUSE he Loves her There is the difference!!
Sookie is Better Bill Is Better Sam is Better!!
Than these others! Its Just That simple!!
Twilight is like beer while True Blood is like fine champagne
I like the Both of them But would agree TB is Better!

          4. Very Very Very well said Antonio!!!!
I enjoyed your comparisons of Sookie/Bella and Bill/Edward. I feel they were quite spot on.
Could it be because the Twilight crew are younger and created for a younger audience that they react in an immature fashion?

Yes Bella is only 18 and Sookie is 25 but Sookie had never been with a man or in a relationship so she could be considered quite young when it comes to understanding men and relationships. She is learning.
Even as Bella had to deal with a divorced homelife (but loving parents), Sookie lost both her parents very young but had a loving grandmother. This could help shape ones character.
Bella seemed pretty mature, not very girly and silly, yet like you said she fell to pieces without Edward. Not a good role model for girls in a “somewhat” similar situation.
Sookie is fighting for Bill in any way she can.
I have to admire Sookie here.
As for Bella, since I am not familiar with the rest of the series I am not looking forward to the next Twilight installment.

            Team True Blood

BTW, HAPPY FATHERS DAY TO ALL

          5. I do agree with what all of you are saying except that the Bill the series has created, I think would leave Sookie if he felt she were in real danger. I think that is going to happen based on the spoilers with Bill calling her and telling her not to look for him. However, Bill would/will have a really good reason to leave her and he wouldn’t run off to get himself executed either. Maybe if he were responsible for Sookie’s death, he’d want to get executed but not just because he couldn’t be with her. When Edward left Bella it was never made clear exactly why he left her. I was very puzzled with that curve in the story and of course he went off to break a rule so he could be executed. In defense of Edward, I do like that he doesn’t try to talk Bella into having sex and also tries to talk her out of being changed. Those are the only positive images Twlight puts forth. Unfortunatley Edward always ends up giving her what she wants and I just can’t see Bill doing that.

          6. Antonio, Annm, Nia: I’ve read both series and like them both in their own way, but the major difference here is age. 7 years doesn’t seems like a lot of time, but there is a huge difference in young woman’s life between the ages of 18 and 25. They both never had boyfriends before but Bella was in the high school adolescent world and Sookie is in the working adult world. For her age, Bella as mature as she could be but she didn’t have a very good family support system, imo. Her parents were divorced, she really hadn’t seen her dad in years and Bella initially left her mom and new husband because she felt like a 3rd wheel and wanted to give them a life of their own. Bella was different for a girl her age and didn’t seem like she really fit in anywhere, until she met Edward and the Cullens. Sookie similar situation, parents died when she was young, but she was raised by her grandmother and she had a brother growing up. And, Tara was like the almost live in sister she never had. A little more stability and family support there. Sookie also felt like she didn’t fit in anywhere because of her telepathy until she started working at Merlotte’s with Sam and then met Bill and her whole life changed.

Bill is going to leave Sookie to protect her from whatever it is Bill brought with him to Bon Temps. I believe Bill would die himself before subjecting Sookie to any of it.

I believe Edward left in the diluted thinking that he didn’t want to bring Bella any more into his world and since he didn’t want to turn her, Bella was at risk not only from Jasper but the other Cullens and/or other vampires as well. He too left to protect her from the vampire lifestyle, but it was too late, they were both too deeply involved to look the other way.

I agree with all of you in that I wouldn’t want tweens and teens to solve all their boyfriend problems the way Bella did. That took things to the extreme and I wouldn’t want young girls to think they couldn’t live without a boyfriend/man in their life also. Sookie is definitely the stronger of the two but like I said more family support and older makes the different, imo.

I will see Eclipse since I read all the books and Twilight does have a special place in my heart, but TB is now No. 1 for me.

Just thought I’d throw my 2 cents in. LOL. 🙂

        2. Hi Jaxx,Nia,Annm
I agree ladies that there Is a difference between an 18 year old whos just graduating high school who still lives at home with her folks (who are divorced) and a 26 year old who’s out working in a grown up world living on her own(for all intensive purposes) I Still say that Sookie is a better, stronger role model for young women than Bella! Sookie is also more stable and grounded emotionally whereas Bella seems more “flighty”.
Bella,it seems, has a hard time making up her mind as to What and Who she wants! She loves Edward,But she allows herself to be”lured” into Jacob’s arms! She can never really make up her mind Just What she wants(She’s 17 Most kids That age Dont know what they want, right?) Even in the last book,Breaking Dawn Even after marrying Edward, her love of life, She still goes back and forth in her mind about Jake~~Even having dreams about him and a “life” together what it would be like! Even in the book,
Those chapters seem to reflect her ambivalence Bella~~~Jacob
          Bella~~~Jacob After a while I was like “Please,Make Up your Mind,Dammit!”
Sookie,On the other hand,Is much more practical, stronger more self-willed. She Knows What she wants and Who she loves!
There can be No question that she Loves Bill~~~Even though That may be tested sorely in the episodes to come~~.
Sookie is confident and believes in herself her abilities
She knows who she is and what she wants plus shes responsible and passionate about whats important to her.
When Sookie meets Bill she owns her sexuality and her feelings towards him…Wheaas When Bella Meets Edward shes like a quivering bowl of gelatin….Different ages and maturity levels i know but still!
I suppose Bella is mature enough for her age given that her parents are divorced and she feels socially awkward (sound familiar~~We All went through that teen angst stuff right?)
Edward,I suppose, becomes her 1 touchstone to reality a “safety-net” of sorts for her.
Sookie doesnt need that! Shes secure enough in herself!
She doesnt “need” Bill…shes Not co-dependent on him
She never gives the impression that she couldnt make it without him…Which is why i think that She is the better role model for young women!
I also feel that Bill Compton would be good role model for young men,too
Even though Many would probably want to be more like Eric Northman! 🙂

  13. Well, I love the depth of Tara’s character and she’s a talented actress! I find her situations she gets into fasinating and she is one of my favorite characters. She’s a great part of this show!

  14. for all those who love the books, anyone notice that Jasons hat had a PANTHER on it?!? LOVE IT. I liked the episode as a whole but could do without weepy Tara. I dont mind that they arent the same as the books, I like to see the little things that do make it in. I was not a huge fan of last season. I liked Maryann but didnt like the mob or that storyline. Im looking foreward to the wolves and speaking of, didnt the were in the front seat look like alcide? prolly wasnt him, but just sayin.

  15. Well I have to add my two cents..As far as Bill and Eric go-DIFFERENT STROKES FOR DIFFERENT FOLKS! Nia we all know you adore Bill-thats a given. I also agree that was quite a steamy little scene between Bill and Sam-Vamp blood will do that. I then have to say that Eric was acting true to his particular nature-arrogant,head of his sheriffdom! This is exciting to me personally because I think of it as his Vampire,Viking nature.
he treated Yvetta the way I would have expected him to treat her-he has no feelings or history with her. His dream sex with Sookie,on the other hand, was sensual and exciting and quite different altogether. Thats only my own personal take on it of course, and I wouldn’t trade one Eric for a hundred Bills. Thats what makes us such loyal fans! Just wait till we get Joe’s crazed admirers arguing! We ALL love our men,vamps,weres,etc-TRUEBLOOD forever!

    1. Well of course val, nothing has changed here!!!! Heck, if we all stroked the same way where is the fun in that? Of course my adoration for Bill will never change as will yours for Eric.
I just stated my very honest opinon here as do we all.

As you would never trade a 100 Bills for Eric, I could never EVER imagine wanting anyone as remotely simlar to Eric, you couldnt pay me enough.

Character is what defines one and I do not find Eric’s character desireable in the least. Any one can have a nice body, but once their character shines through it blows anything else away. But again that is my opinion. Of course we could see a different Eric in the seasons to come but for now this is what I see, and is again just my opinion.

I know you liked the previous dream scene between Sookie and Eric, saying it was so loving, but did you pay close attention to what Eric was saying to her? He was all about seducing her into becoming a vampire, his vampire, then she would belong to him forever. Whats interesting is that this is Sookies dream and based on what she has already experienced from Eric.

I am going by what I am seeing so far. Eric has done nothing but hurt Bill and try to take what was his from the very beginning.

Obviously he told Rubin to abduct Bill, but was beaten to the punch by the weres. What would Eric have done to Bill if he had him do you think?? Would Bill have to pay the price for having found out Erics illegal dealings of V with the queen? Would he stake Bill?? As sheriff he could easily do this and probably get away with it.

In the past I have read many times that Bill is evil because he was working for the queen. Cannot the same be said for Eric? It is different when the tables are turned.

Bill is always blamed for lying to Sookie, even when he was fighting for her and/or trying to protect her.
I see Eric is accumulating quite a basketful of lies himself. I fear they will come around eventually to bite him big time, as of course may Bills.

As I have said many times Bill is not perfect, he has a dark side, well he is a vamp. He has made and will continue to make mistakes. But we know how much he loves Sookie and what he does seems to always be for her.

I have always enjoyed Eric for what he is. But as a romantic lover, well, so far, the evidence speaks for itself. Even though Yvetta means nothing to him, he still used her. I do not think Sookie was impressed at all, even with a naked Eric in front of her.
Good girl, she was worried about her man!

Also, at the time Sookie went to see Eric, it was before the phone call to Rubin. So Eric must have assumed that what Sookie was refering to was Bill being abducted by Rubin. He knew what Sookie was talking about and had a ready enough answer for her and he obviously did not act surprised. Also, being with Yvetta for 6 hours established a nice alibi for him. He made sure he was busy during the abduction.
      Sorry but just speculating here.

As to the other happenings in Bon Temps:

I really like Tara, esp in S1. She did kind of lose her spunk in S2. I have to admit that I did not like her trying to commit suicide, we know her to be stronger than that.
I think she will really be put to the test when Franklin Mott shows up. I am looking forward to that one. Should be incredible.

I looove Jason and Andy! Best hookup from last season, and promising to be good this season. And we seem to have S1 Jason back. As Stephen said in the “Chelsea Lately” interview, in the first few minutes of the pilot, Jason had a girl tied up on a hook! OOps looks like Eric has taken up that gauntlet..LOL

As to the panther on Jasons hat, can you say foreshadowing??

Pam was in her full glory!! Sooo Love pam. Glad to see she will be getting more screen time. She is one of my fav characters. A fashionista through and through!!Eric should heed her advice more. She is a woman who knows what its about.

Arlene and Terry, should be interesting whose baby it is!! BTW, I love Terry too.

Sam needs a good woman so he can stop dreaming about Bill!! LOL
Sam has always been another fav of mine. He proved his ascend to alpha status when sacrificing him self to MA last season, but he still needs a bit more to go.
I think he may have given up the torch for Sookie, part of it is that I think a mutual respect was forged between him and Bill, although that will be put to the test as well if these dreams continue…LOL
I wonder what he is trying to achieve by finding his family? He already knows they are “bad people”. I suppose everyone needs closure.

And Lafayette, another brilliant addition by AB! I feel for him with Pam on his back, pink or not!! He is such a great character. I wonder what ERic really has in store for him. BTW, I believe that it must have been Pam who abducted him at S1 finale. They just seem to have such a great hate/hate relationship.

Lastly, Jessica!! Another great AB addition. I think there are troubled times ahead for her and Hoyt. She is alot of fun! Most of the characters are older in TB, she adds that little girl/vamp quality that is so fun.
I wonder if Bill will be held ultimately responsible for the “dead trucker” in his house. He may take the fall for Jessica.

Whew! Well thats enough for now!

      Team True Blood!

      1. Nia, we could be twins in our same thinking about the True Blood characters and about the 1st episode in this new season!!

        1. Hey Irene!! ***Big waves***
Glad to meet you sis! Always happy to meet another Bill girl!
It is fun discussing our favs!! Yes although we do tend to get out of hand sometimes. LOL

I do love all the characters though!!
They are so well developed in AB’s world. Awesome stories (ok, I know, the maenad thing jumped the shark abit but oh well, its fantasy!)
          Can’t wait for more!

          Team True Blood!

  16. I may be one of a small group of people who thought the first episode was a letdown. It was too much moving around, I agree I was not impressed with the Eric and Yvetta scene. best two scenes were Bill and Sam and Jason and the two girls and what he explained to them why he could not get an erection. Too funny.

    1. I can’t believe I am saying this as a “Sookie Universe” Fanatic, I hated the episode! I agree with Cox, there was only like only two good scenes and everything else was soooo jumbled and too much going on. Plus like half of the episode was everything we saw from the spoilers and preview clips, I was sorely disappointed. In defense for True Blood, hey maybe I watched too many spoiler previews and stayed up to date too much on the hiatus, I will be a faithful watcher and tune in next week to see what happens, but I hope it gets better, Plus omg Tara is just sooo whimpy I want the Tara back from Season 1, who was whitty and smart.

  17. I thought Bill was absolutely incredible, the best yet!!!!!

From his car scene with the crazy were drainers to his crawling from the dirt as an animal, sniffing for predators, to feeding and then playing the apologetic gentleman to Miss Olivia!
His character has been and will always be so multilayered, interesting and sexy as sin!

Lest we forget the almost(darn)shower scene with Sam.
As far as I am concerned Bill and Sam were so frickin hot!!!
Eric and Yvetta were boring. Nothing there at all. Eric may have a nice body but his arrogance and smugness make him so unappealing.
    Sorry, JIMO

  18. Thanks so much Janie for that synopsis-I too was amazed by the amount of information packed into only one hour! I think I would have mentioned-in case anyone forgot-that drinking a lot of blood from a Vamp will give you sexy dreams for some time, kind of explaining Sam’s erotic visions of Bill.
I am also one of those Eric fans who could not remove my eyes from the vision of Eric walking away from yvetta to talk to Sookie.(Sometimes clothes DO NOT make the man)! After reading over the course of our LONGGG wait, that Alex is the only actor who does not use the infamous”sock”,I was amazed at Sookie’s careful viewing of everything but! She is a good actress indeed-I know I would have found it IMPOSSIBLE! Well another week to go-sigh!

    1. Haha, well, Anna DOES have an Oscar. Maybe that gives you incredible willpower not to stare at gorgeous men.

      Thanks for reading!

  19. I don’t know if this is bothering anyone else, but let Tara die…. I know in the books she has a little story line, it’s not at all the same as the show, but kill her off. This poor ole me I found the man I love and now I’m all depressed and sad because he’s dead. I guess its hard to see her story line since they were the right and left hand of Maryann last season and she was being stupid after Sookie and Bill brought her out of her trance last season. She’s annoying because she brings alot more grief that anyone else. It was annoying at the end of the last season and it’s already getting on my nerves this season. Its a waste of time that could be more air time for someone else that is more entertaining and more enjoyable to watch. I am enjoying Andy and Jason’s new friendship. I looooovvvvvveeeee Eric and please more scenes with him like we saw in the basement. The wolves were cool and it should be a fun season, but Tara needs to go away.

    1. Totally agree…kill off Tara. I wanted to gag her myself when she started the ear-splitting bellowing at Sookie. Eric was awwwwwesome! Looking forward to more of the werewolves. I’ve been waiting very patiently for months and the rest of the episode was superb!

      1. Ok, There was a lot going on, to say the least, it was kinda hard follow where some of it was gonna go, but maybe AB was just tryin to get us our Vamp fix since so many of us have been craving it. But I do agree, that Tara really should quit already with the poor pitiful me stuff. Maybe she should be turned and have a happier after life? Can’t wait till Sunday. Yay It’s Back!!!!
