True Blood’s Alexander Skarsgard Talks About His Time in the UK

September 9, 2010

Every week on True Blood we watch the talented Alexander Skarsgard bring vampire Eric Northman to life.  The actor is originally from Sweden, but spent some time in Leeds, England.  Alex describes this as a period of his life when he had the most fun, due to the crazy characters he met.  Alex also said that he spent a lot of time in bars in the UK as he explains.

“I lived there in 1997. I was in the Marines in Sweden and when I got out I was like, ‘Let’s do something fun for six months.’ Me and a buddy wanted to go to England, but we didn’t want t to go to London; we wanted to go somewhere where we’d actually hang out with the Brits.  We had a great time. I studied English, but we wanted to absorb the culture so we spent our time in pubs.”

Alexander admits he met a lot of people he wouldn’t normally have hung out with. One character in particular had an unusual job.  Alex explains:  “I liked that it was rough and ready.  We lived in this basement and shared the bathroom down the hall with these two other guys. One looked like the murderer from Twin Peaks, the other heard us talking and said, ‘Are you guys from Sweden? I did a lot of business in Sweden.’ We were like, ‘Oh, cool, what did you do?’ And he was like, ‘I smuggled drugs.’”  Yikes!

King of Mississippi Talks to Fangoria Magazine at Comic-Con 2010

August 6, 2010

Fangoria Magazine recently caught up with Denis O’Hare who portrays the Vampire King of Mississippi, Russell Edgington, on True Blood, at Comic Con 2010.  The interview starts off with Russell being asked what viewers can expect from The King in season 3.  We have already seen part of the King‘s intentions with wanting to be betrothed to the Queen of Louisiana, Sophie-Anne, his association with werewolves, and his blatant disgust for humans and authority.

Denis explains that Russell has done some crazy things thus far on season 3 but also explains that vampire morals are very different from human morals.  He likes his characters association with the werewolves because he thinks they have a different attitude about how the different creatures should unite and interact. Denis also explains that Russell knows he needs to increase his power base and that is why he has decided to take on Sophie-Anne as his bride.

Denis was then asked about his character’s progression with over taking Bill Compton and acquiring Bill into his state.  Denis explains that everyone has their own agendas and goals. Russell‘s goal is to be honest with people and to have them be honest to him in return.  When they fail to do that then he has to figure out what he is going to do with them. At this point Denis explains that Bill Compton is a lot of things, but right now he is useful – time will only tell how long he remains useful to the King and his agenda.

Denis was also asked about Eric on the show and how viewers are seeing Eric‘s history unfold and it seems that Russell might be a big part of that history.  Denis explains that there is way more history to come and we will be seeing more of that as the season progresses. Denis also explains that there are so many great stories to tell and an endless amount of possibilities.

Denis ended the interview by saying that we can expect HUGE twists and storylines to go crazy starting in episode 7 and that everything will explode by episode 9.  Denis definitely has my curiosity peaked now – I can hardly wait to see what happens! One thing I know though is you can guarantee the King of Mississippi will have his hands all over it! Stay tuned!

True Blood’s Renee Stars in New FX Series

August 4, 2010

Most of us remember the character of Renee, Arlene’s psychotic, serial killer ex-fiance, who murdered Sookie and Jason’s grandmother and then went after Sookie before having his own life ended.  Well Michael Raymond-James is the actor who portrayed Renee on True Blood and he is back in the saddle again so to speak. This time with a new series premiering on FX, called “Terriers”.

The show is about two friends who run an unlicensed, low budget detective agency.  The show also stars Michael‘s long-time friend Donal Logue. The two actors worked together on the NBC show, “Life”. They have also been sharing an apartment in San Diego while filming the new series.

We wish this duo the best of luck as they begin this new show. Hopefully Micheal won’t run into any vamps, haha!

Joe Manganiello Talks About Fan Experiences

August 2, 2010

True Blood fans are thrilled to finally see the character of Alcide brought to life and by no other than the sexy Joe Manganiello.  Fans are loving this amazing new character and Joe is doing an outstanding job portraying the hunky, large werewolf!

Joe admits that he has seen some unusual things since joining the True Blood cast.  He has had one female fan that asked him to lick her and a Fedex delivery man jumped out of his truck the other day just to snap a picture of him! There is also the bathroom thing,  Joe explains:

“The funniest thing is all of the guys that come up to me and tell me that I’m on their wives’ favorite show.  They chase me into the bathroom to tell me that I’ve only been on two episodes and they know exactly what I look like.”

Can you hardly blame them. That hot body and gorgeous face are hard to forget. In order to maintain his hunky build, Joe works out twice a day, six days a week, while filming.  He also eats protein and vegetables from the time he wakes up until he hits the bed at night.  He does allow himself one cheat meal a week.  One of his favorite cheat meals is the legendary Roscoe’s Chicken and Waffles in LA, and Umami Burger.

All I know is I look forward to seeing Joe bring Alcide to life every Sunday night – he is an awesome addition to this outstanding True Blood cast.
