True Blood’s Final Act- Season 4 Losses

The Characters We Lost This Season on True Blood:

Kevin Alejandro as Jesus Season 4 finaleIt’s not a foreign concept that the writers of HBO’s True Blood aren’t shy about racking up the body count during an episode. And the season four finale is nothing short of an extraordinary bloodbath. A number of reoccurring characters met their demise. Let’s take a look at them and remember their final moments.

Jesus Velasquez
Played by: Kevin Alejandro

On his character’s death, Kevin Alejandro said:

“I found out Jesus was going to die around the first episode, and they were really cool about it, like ‘This is nothing you did. Happy relationships are just boring.’ And they’re right- it makes for great drama. I think the final episode is going to be really touching.”

Jessica Tuck as Nan FlanaganNan Flanagan
Played by: Jessica Tuck

On her death scene, Jessica Tuck said:

“There ain’t no way back from the True Death. Plus, the one good thing about being shown the True Death is that when you squirt with blood, you’re not the one who gets covered with it- it’s everyone that’s in your way. Stephen Moyer drove a stake through my heart, but I then got him back by just covering him in gooey blood.”

Debbie Pelt
Played by: Brit Morgan

Brit Morgan as Debbie Pelt S4Ep11On her death scene, Brit Morgan said:

“…It was so cool because I got to fire a real gun, and they had my brains on the wall with Debbie’s hair in it…Plus every time Anna [Paquin] and I get to fight, it’s just awesome- a punch, a fall. It’s by far the most fun I’ve ever had.”

Tara Thorton
Played by: Rutina Wesley

Rutina Wesley as Tara ThorntonOn her death scene, Rutina Wesley said:

“Shooting that scene was very hard and emotional. I think everybody on set shed a tear that day; it was really tough to get through. When you see someone that you’ve lived with and breathed with for four years come to some kind of end, it’s very powerful- and sad. It’s really hard to play dead when you’re about to cry.”

Will True Blood’s Alcide and Debbie Last?

Joe Manganiello Dishes on Werewolf Relationships:

It’s the burning question on the minds of many True Blood fans – What made Alcide take the previously crazy and drug addicted Debbie back? Joe Manganiello recently spoke to Digital Spy about his character Alcide and what’s going on with his relationship with Debbie (Brit Morgan).

After extensive character research, Manganiello discovered that real wolves actually secrete a chemical that ties into mating for life.

“So I thought about that, and I thought about how difficult it must be for them to separate. And also growing up as a werewolf and living hidden from society, you can’t open up to normal people. You couldn’t just go out on a date with a human girl and tell her who you were unless you were really sure.”

Sounds like a tough situation Joe, we agree. But what about all of the heartache and pain Debbie caused Alcide in Season 3? Joe explained:

“Debbie’s obviously tried to make amends for her past transgressions and done so in such a convincing manner that Alcide would give her another shot. So obviously only time will tell how good of a job she does, or how consistent of a job she does.”

Do you think Alcide and Debbie will last? Let us know in the comment section below!

Truebloodnet’s Favorite Quotes from Season 4, Episode 4 – “I’m Alive and on Fire”

Watercooler Gossip:

Truebloodnet is bringing True Blood fans their favorite quotes from episode four. Each week, fans can’t wait to see the new episode of True Blood and then race to the water cooler on Monday to talk about what happened on Sunday’s show. Here is our way of bringing those favorite scenes back to you.

Love Drunk

The first quote is from Sookie who stares at Eric like a puppy who has messed on her new carpet:

“You can’t have any more, there isn’t anymore, you drank the WHOLE fairy, and you’re going to your room!”

Eric had other plans though:

“Hey! Did you just pinch my butt?”

While Eric was frolicking in the woods, Pam was being grilled about his whereabouts by Bill. After making her mad, the third great comment of the night comes:

“You like the feel of it don’t ya, Bill? That crown.”

drunk Eric swimming S4 Ep4While Bill may not like the feel of the crown, Eric seems to love the feel of the swamp water and DOES NOT want to get out.

“There’s big gators in there you crazy viking, get on out and let’s go home before one of them chomps off your you-know-what!”

Eric, we can’t let that happen, you better get out of that water!

Cat Scratch Fever

Quite a few great quotes came from Jason’s ordeal. Viewers first find Jason tied to a bed where a woman from Hot Shot is taking full advantage of his situation.

Jason tied to the bed S4 Ep4

“Well, I don’t know why you’re crying, I’m the one getting raped,”

he says to her.

Next one comes from Luther who yells to Jason:

“Breed, Ghost Daddy, breed!”

The fifth quote comes from Crystal Norris who finds Jason in the woods after he has escaped and killed Felton. She is very happy to see him and even happier that Felton is dead.

“I’m big momma kitty now.”

And that you are Crystal, that you are.

Witchy Woman

The witches this season have been dangerous and full of great lines. Since Marnie has cast the spell on Eric, Lafayette,  Jesus, and Tara have 24 hours to have her reverse the spell. She tries to tell them that she can’t remember. Lafeyette will not hear any of that!

“You get her ass on the gotdamn Goddess line and you tell her to turn this curse a-f***in-round!”

Well, that’s one way of putting it. While that group is trying to reverse the spell, Nan Flanagan is giving Bill Compton hell about sending Eric to the Moon Goddess Emporium.

“Some old hippies levitated a dead bird, so what?”

Well Nan, it was a little more than that, which Pam later learns when she says the famous line,

“Are you f***ing retarded?”

I think it’s fair to say that Marnie won that fight.

Love Comes in All Kinds

Quote number eleven is from Debbie Pelt who is not concerned with Alcide helping Sookie:

“You’re in my bed, boy — I aint worried about no Sookie.”

Debbie obviously did not see how Alcide and Sookie looked at each other.

Number twelve and thirteen have to do with families. First, is the shocking revelation of finding out that Bill is related to Portia Bellefleur:

“You’re my great-great-great-great-granddaughter.”

I don’t think Portia thought it was that great. The next wasn’t a spoken line, but a great one nonetheless.

“Baby not yours”

was found written on the wall at Arlene’s house. It appears that the baby wrote it, but I am skeptical.

The Tangled Webs

The last two of the night come back to Sookie’s love triangle. While the situation between her and Eric hasn’t escalated, it is obvious that Eric would like more with Sookie.

“If you kiss me, I promise to be happy.”

Yes, Eric I would be!

Bill & Sookie “lies” S4 Ep4

Bill soon shows up at Sookie’s house and asks to search it looking for Eric. Sookie feels a need to protect him so she tops the night with the best quote of the night.

“When have I ever lied to you? Ever?”

Well they do say there is a first time for everything.

So this is our list from episode four, did you find your favorite quote of the night?

Joe Manganiello Thinks Alcide and Sookie are a Perfect Match

While in New York recently, Joe Manganiello caught up with Jarett Wieselman from the New York Post’s PopWrap to talk about True Blood Season 3, Alcide, Sookie and Alcide’s crazy ex-girlfriend, Debbie Pelt.

First up, Joe described Alcide’s story arc in Season 3.

When we meet him that’s when his arc begins.  He’s had to fight this monster, this beast inside of him and live inside of a society [where] he can’t be himself; [where] he can’t stand up straight and be as strong as he is.  As he lets the beast out and it takes him over more and more, it’s about his struggle to control, to fight against that power and whether or not it will corrupt him entirely.

Going by the previews, it looks like Sookie and Debbie Pelt go head-to-head in the next episode and Joe confirms this, joking:

Yeah, there’s a pretty bad-ass chick fight.

We’ve already seen that there’s lots of chemistry between Sookie and Alcide and given Sookie’s recent troubles with Bill, maybe this will lead on to something more.  Joe isn’t giving away much, but he says:

“I think in a perfect world Alcide and Sookie are a really good match.”

We know that Alcide will be a regular in Season 4 of  True Blood and Joe is hoping that, as in the books, we get to meet Alcide’s “crazy, wild” werewolf dad.  If Joe could pick a dream actor to play his dad, who would it be?

“I think Jeff Bridges would be awesome. Sam Elliot would also be pretty cool.”

In interviews Joe often talks about his Mom and credits her with passing on the genes behind his fabulous physique.  She is also a big fan of the show.

“My Mom loves the show and she’s really cute the way she talks about all the characters like she knows them.  She’s really mad at Bill right now [although] deep down she believes he is a nice person.  But she does love my character and she is responsible for my genetics. I mean you can only work out so much and then you have to have the genetics, so I thank my Mom.”

Joe had to maintain a strict diet and workout regime while filming, but admits he did lash out a bit once True Blood wrapped.

“I was at Disneyland for the All-Star [baseball] game a few weeks ago and they have this little New Orleans jazz gumbo place and I went [there] for breakfast, like, two mornings in a row.”

And will Joe give away any hints about what’s in store for our favorite characters in the remaining episodes of Season 3?

“Well, I ask Alan [Ball] all the time what’s coming up in the next episode and Alan’s answer is always, “There’s going to be a lot of blood, there’s going to be a lot of sex and a lot of people are going to die.”  So, all those three.”

True Blood 3.07 “Hitting the Ground” Review

When we look back on “Hitting the Ground,” it will surely be viewed as a defining episode of True Blood. For better or for worse, every character is set on the path that will take them running towards another jaw-dropping, mind-blowing, heart-breaking season finale.

Lorena made a meal out of Sookie, and it’s a good thing for her it was so delicious because it was the last blood she would ever taste. Bill musters the strength to wrap a silver chain around Lorena’s neck and pull her to the ground, calling for Sookie to stake her. With her last breath (figuratively), she says, “William, I love you.” As impressed as I was by Mariana Klaveno’s performance last week, it was time for that awful woman to die.

When Tara and Alcide try to pull Sookie away from Bill, she refuses to leave without him. If he were dead, she says, he’d look like the bloody mess on the floor. Just as they are wrapping Bill up in a blanket and preparing to carry him to Alcide’s truck, in walks Debbie pointing a gun at them. Alcide takes a soft approach with her, calling her “Sweetheart” and reminding her of how much they used to love each other. Sookie is a little more abrupt, getting Debbie fired up: “You sure picked a dumbass time to call me ‘bitch,’ bitch!”

Tara is still in fighting mode after her daring escape from Franklin and tackles Debbie. Alcide holds the gun now and, even though he doesn’t seem like a very violent werewolf, he doesn’t hesitate to kill Coot when he tries to attack. Debbie promises that she will hunt him down, but Alcide can’t bring himself to kill her (and past feelings aside, I wonder if he’s going to regret that decision later).

They have to make a quick getaway when they hear the other werewolves approaching. Sookie rides in the back with Bill and tries to revive him. She slices her arm with a handsaw and lets the blood pour into his mouth. His strength returns as he starts to drink, but Sookie‘s relief turns to fear when he pins her down and bites into her neck, ignoring her struggle as he feeds on her.

When Tara comes back to check on her, she’s unconscious from losing so much blood. Bill doesn’t remember what he’s done, but Tara is furious–she kicks him out into the sunlight, and Alcide drives them off to the hospital. For some very strange reason, Bill doesn’t seem to be burning in the sun right away. He’s concerned for Sookie‘s well-being, but when his skin starts smoking, he mutters, “Damn,” and then runs away to find cover.

Over in New Orleans, Sophie-Anne has been reduced to a captive in her own home, imprisoned like a bird in a cage (in which she has no doubt held many people before). Eric uses the Queen’s human, Hadley, as leverage to learn what is so special about Sookie. Sophie-Anne seems willing to let this happen rather than give up her secret, but Hadley doesn’t want to die. She whispers to Eric what he wants to know: “Well I certainly wasn’t expecting that.”

Jason is surprised to find himself wallowing over Crystal: “It’s funny, I never really thought I was smart enough to get depressed, but here I am.” He doesn’t understand why she lives with that jerk in Hot Shot, or why he feels like he already loves her even though he barely knows her. Hoyt suggests that he go down to the jail and talk to that drug dealer he tackled. The guy is pacing his cell angrily, going through painful withdrawal, and he will only talk about Crystal if Jason brings him some crystal meth.

Sam discovers the dogfighting ring where Tommy is being made to fight. He infiltrates the operation as a pit bull, sets off an alarm, and frees all the dogs locked up. Tommy is bleeding from a bite on his neck, and Melinda at least has the slight decency to seem upset about putting her son through this. Joe Lee, however, is nothing but a piece of trash. Sam is not afraid to stand up to him: “You like makin’ people scared, huh? Think you’re good at it? For the life of me, I can’t understand the power you got over these people ’cause I see you for what you are. You’re just a scared man in saggy underpants with no discernible life skills whatsoever.” Sam promises his brother a better life, and Tommy is finally ready to leave his parents (although that’s certainly not the end of this story…).

At the hospital, the doctors and nurses are trying to give Sookie a blood transfusion and are shocked to learn that she doesn’t have a blood type. Her body convulses when they try to give her O negative, the universal donor. They don’t know what else to do–she’s in a coma, and they inform Tara that she should start notifying next of kin. Jason has gone to Merlotte’s in a panic to see the only dealer he knows: Lafayette, who thinks he wants to buy more V: “Oh, no, I told you–that shit’s behind me. I just need some meth.” Then Jason gets a phone call from Tara that he needs to come to the hospital.

Tara and Jason stand at Sookie‘s bedside crying and holding her hand, telling her how much they need her, unaware that her mind is in another place at the moment. Dressed in a sparkling white gown, she follows a trail of flower petals outside to a garden where people are dancing. There she meets Claudine, who gives her a drink from a pond, and the water is full of light. In Sookie‘s hospital room, Lafayette is reciting a verse that is more appropriate than he can know: “I think over again my small adventures, my fears…and yet there is only one great thing, the only thing…To live to see the great day that dawns, and the light that fills the world.”

Claudine invites Sookie to come with them to their home beneath the pond. She hears in Sookie‘s thoughts that she is afraid of swimming because her parents drowned, and Sookie hears in Claudine‘s that it was not the water that killed her parents but something else. Before she can explain further, a shadow is cast overhead: “The dark approaches…” It’s night, and Bill has come the hospital to save Sookie. Tara doesn’t want any of his help, but it’s Jason’s choice. He agrees, so Bill opens his wrist and gives her an IV of his blood. This has always seemed like a more heroic, romantic gesture when Bill has done this for Sookie before, but it feels almost sinister when interposed with Claudine‘s warnings to Sookie about not letting Bill “steal her light.” And watching his dark blood travel up the tube into Sookie, I knew that it would heal her body, but it also seemed like it might be suppressing the special light water she drank. When Claudine and the others had disappeared into the pond, the camera panned back and showed that the dream-like garden was in Bon Temps Cemetery. It’s a sweet sight to see in Sookie’s hospital room: Jason, Tara, Alcide, and Lafayette are all sleeping in chairs next to her bed. Bill is awake, though, when Sookie stirs from her coma. He smiles down at her, but when she sees him, she starts screaming. Things are definitely going to be changing…

The Magister still has Pam chained with silver in the basement at Fangtasia. In spite of her pain, Pam remains brave and as snarky as ever. Eric comes down to stop him, followed by Sophie-Anne, and then Russell. The Magister tries to exercise his power, vested in him by “The Authority,” but Russell just laughs at him: “Who are The Authority? What gave them the authority? Nothing. No one. They took it, as I am taking it today.” For the first time, the Magister looks nervous, but he is stubborn about his duty to uphold the sacred laws for this unknown entity ruling over vampire society (perhaps the American Vampire League?) Within a second, the King has released Pam from the chains into Eric‘s arms, and placed the Magister on the table: “It’s vampires like you who’ve been holding the rest of us back for centuries.”

Russell stabs the Magister with his own cane until, as the sharp wooden end is poised over his heart, he obeys Russell‘s wish and pronounces him and Sophie-Anne married. The King then gets carried away talking about the only real law: “The law of nature! The survival of the fittest! And we need to take this world back from humans, not placate them with billboards and PR campaigns, while they destroy it. That is not authority! That is abdicating authority!” He sends the Magister to his “true death” and cuts off his head. Eric, Sophie-Anne, and Pam watch in shock as the head flies through the air and explodes when it hits the ground. What a way to end it…

There was so much happening in this episode I can hardly believe it. The most significant development: it looks like Sookie is finally going to begin her journey of self-discovery. Readers of the book series have been expecting the “fairy” reveal for a while now, and since it’s finally introduced into the show, we can begin the lengthy discussions on what those first scenes might mean (because we all know that Alan Ball will put his own unique twist on things). Based on people’s reactions in the comments section in the past few weeks, I think this will make viewers very happy. It’s a shame that it took Bill almost draining Sookie to death to open her eyes to the truth about herself, but nothing will ever be the same for her. Now that she knows the origin of her powers, she can start learning how to use them with confidence instead of just as an accidental defense mechanism. I expect that this will make her smarter, stronger, and just more capable in general now that she has been “enlightened” (literally and figuratively).

Bon Temps Tattler: Wedding Announcements Pelt-Coot

Confessions of a Biker Bride” by Debbie P.

Guess what, Ya’ll?? I’m gettin’ hitched to Coot– the baddest, strongest, meanest biker in town. Ain’t ya jealous?? I know summa ya’ll heard that I was gonna marry that Alcide Herveaux, but that ain’t true no more. He and I just don’t see eye to eye on things and he ain’t the kinda man I want, BUT that don’t mean that ya’ll sleazy skanks can have him neither cuz you might think that you’re woman enough for him, but ya ain’t. It’s gonna take him a LONG TIME to get over the likes of me so BACK THE FREAK OFF BITCHES….especially you, Sookie Stackhouse! Stick to what you know best….datin’ dead things. But wait, your dead thing don’t want you no more, does he? Hmm, pity….NOT!

Anyways, back to me and Coot. Yup, we’re gettin’ married soon and it ain’t gonna be no traditional type weddin’ neither. That’s one thing I ain’t gonna miss about marryin’ Alcide. He wanted the big ole church weddin’ with me in a fru-fru white dress and a guest list a mile long. That just ain’t me, not now anyways. Me and Coot‘s weddin’s gonna be so cool…Lots a bikes roarin’ and beer flowin’ and meat sizzlin’ on the fire. None of that champagne toast crap for us. We’re gonna be real. We’re gonna make it all ours….despite what my Momma might think.

Speakin’ of Momma, she’s been houndin’ me to get all registered for gifts and such. I keep tryin’ ta tell her that we don’t want any of that crap from department stores. What do I need fancy dishes and crystal glasses for, huh? I am never gonna use them that’s for sure…and I don’t plan on holdin’ any fancy dinners neither. The kind of people we hang with drink straight from the beer can and eat off paper plates. I guess I can look at the Wal-Mart and see what they got for kitchen stuff. They got nice things and if sumthin’ breaks, it can be replaced real easy. One thing we do want to get are matchin’ tattoos, so ya’ll can get us gift certificates for Joe-Bob’s Tats. Also, anythin’ from the Harley Davidson Store would be cool as hell! Of course, the best gift is cold, hard cash and plenty of it!

This column is a parody of the Gothic fantasy series, True Blood, and as such, is presented here for your amusement. Brit Morgan Talks About Debbie Pelt and her “True Blood Initiation”

Brit Morgan, who portrays Alcide’s trailer trash ex-girlfriend Debbie Pelt in Season 3 of True Blood, sat down with HBO to talk about her character and what we can expect to see.  In Debbie’s first episode she is stripped down to her underwear, passed around a bar full of werewolves and then branded.  No easing into the job for Brit!  She tells HBO:

Debbie is a passionate, ballsy, kick-ass lady who’s going through a bit of a rough patch, dealing with her ex-boyfriend Alcide and being branded into this new group of werewolves.  Then Sookie crosses her path, and it’s kind of all downhill from there.”

Brit says that she can identify with Debbie‘s insecurities and her outspoken nature.  Stepping into the role of a villain is no easy task.  How did she feel about taking on this role?

“Um, pressure. Really exciting.  Totally surprising. I didn’t even know how bad-ass I was going to get to be. I  just wanted to do Debbie justice.  I meet people all the time who talk about stuff that Debbie did in the books, and I just kind of explain, “It’s a little different in the series…”  Because I have a drug addiction and kind of a trailer-trash thing going on, which wasn’t in the books.  So that’s a big difference there. I hope people like the changes.”

Brit explains that this season, we will see a “tornado of a woman” in Debbie. With the drugs, the jealousy, resentment, etc. it makes for an interesting character.  Debbie will continue to go downhill and given the potential match of Alcide and Sookie we can only imagine that a lot of her anger will be directed at Sookie.

Any actor/actress who joins the cast of True Blood accepts that at some point they will likely have to strip out of their clothes.  HBO asked Brit how it felt to be stripped down on her first day.  She responded:

“My first day at work – it was my “True Blood” initiation.  I’m not gonna lie: it was totally liberating and one of the most awesome things I’ve ever done.  I was thinking “I will never again be in a room full of 100 bikers who are tearing my clothes off.”  It was insane, and great in the moment.  Once the weekend came, I kinda sat back and was like “I can’t believe what just happened. I feel violated…[laughs]”

We are looking forward to watching Debbie Pelt stir things up.

SPOILERS: New True Blood Spoilers from E! Online

Once again, the wonderful E! Online has provided us with some new nibbles of information about what’s coming up soon in True Blood! Debbie Pelt and Russell Edgington are really going to affect this season of True Blood as it continues!

What’s the deal with True Blood’s new werewolf, Debbie Pelt?
She’s 100 percent wackadoodle, that’s for sure. But we haven’t seen the end of Alcide and Debbie. “Debbie doesn’t put too many rules on anything. There’s a little bit of a love triangle [between Alcide and Cooter],” Brit Morgan tells us. And get ready for more throwdowns with Sookie as time goes on. “Our paths definitely cross, and not in a nice way. Debbie‘s not fond of Sookie. It’s not good.”

I love Dennis O’Hare on True Blood. Anything ahead for the King?
Lots and lots of blood, so says Dennis. “Russell steps up to defend the Earth because he feels like humans abdicate it. He wants them to step back, and vampires will run things because they’ll do a little better.” Unfortunately, all does not go well for the Mississippi man. In fact, by the end: “I’m wearing a trench coat and flip flops and I’m much bloodier. I’ve fallen from grace. It’s a big character arch, where I end up going through a lot of pain and a lot of blood shed.” Dun-dun-dun.

Sounds like we’re going to see a lot of action as the third season of True Blood continues airing every Sunday night at 9 PM!

Brit Morgan Found Freedom in Debbie’s Craziness

One episode of True Blood with Debbie Pelt, and already we can see that she means trouble. Alcide’s psycho ex has gotten herself addicted to V and initiated into a violent pack of weres. She says she wants Alcide to leave her alone, but for some reason, actress Brit Morgan says Debbie goes on “a rampage against Sookie.” In an interview with TV Guide, Brit talks about how accepting the cast was and how she sees her character.

Brit was nervous at first, but working on the show became one of the best experiences of her life. She read the books in Charlaine Harris‘ series that featured Debbie, although she saw some differences between how she was portrayed on the show.

Alan Ball and the writers took her to a “whole new level of crazy. They also amped up the trailer trash aspect. Nothing is too much. There are no limitations around me. I got to do whatever I wanted with her. There’s nothing better than playing crazy when everyone else is just encouraging it.”

Brit did a great job in “9 Crimes,” and it will be interesting to see how her role develops over the rest of Season 3!

True Blood 3.04 “9 Crimes” Review

After waiting two long weeks for our next fix, True Blood returned with plenty of good stuff to make the wait worthwhile. Several characters took quite a beating in “9 Crimes,” whether it was a physical one (Lafayette, Pam, Tara), or emotional (Sookie, Bill, Eric, Alcide). As plans continue to unfold, it’s hard to see how all of this could turn out well for anybody. I keep wondering who’s going to save them from their problems, when everybody else’s situations are just as screwed up.

Sookie is tending to Alcide’s wound from the fight at Lou Pine’s when she gets a phone call from Bill. His cold manner is jarring. He immediately admits that he just had sex with Lorena. “We were doomed from the start,” he tells Sookie. “You are no longer of concern to me. Do not try to find me. I do not wish to be found.” As soon as he hangs up the phone, however, his eyes betray him.

Having seen everything leading up to this, and the threats to Sookie’s life from werewolves, Russell, and Lorena, it’s quite obvious that Bill is purposefully trying to hurt her feelings so that she won’t want to be with him anymore. Something also seems to have snapped inside Bill. Trying to be a vampire with humanity may have brought him love, but it has also tormented him. Lorena thinks they have shared something special, but Bill puts that notion aside: “Any passion you felt was me killing my love for Sookie. It had nothing to do with you.” When she still doesn’t believe him, he just hits her, sending her out of the room and slamming the door in her face.

Sookie doesn’t know what Bill has gone through (except what she has seen in the minds of the werewolves who captured him), but she knows that the man who just said those things to her on the phone is different from the the one she fell in love with. Alcide, still heartbroken himself, is not so good at comforting Sookie in her time of distress: “No matter how well you think you know somebody, they can still turn around and kick you right in the nut sack.” Her tears get to him, though, and they share a cute moment together when he puts his arm around her: “Oh my God, you’re so warm.” “Sorry.” “No, it’s ok, I’m just not used to it.” “It’s a were thing. We run hot.” “I thought maybe you were coming down with the flu.” Alcide sleeps beside Sookie while she cries through the night, amassing a pile of used tissues.

Meanwhile, another vampire is in tune with Sookie’s emotions and finds himself thinking of her. Eric sits at Fangtasia watching Yvetta dance, but he fantasizes about Sookie finally wanting him the way he wants her–although I can’t imagine her ever saying, “I’ve got skills you can’t even dream of, cowboy.”

The next morning, Sookie is still resolved to find Bill, much to Alcide’s chagrin. “I’m not a doormat!” she insists. “I think he’s in trouble. Maybe I’m wrong, but if he can look me in the eye and tell me it’s over, then I’ll leave him here to rot.” She thinks she can find more information if they go back to the were bar for Debbie’s engagement party with Coot and his gang. She calls on Alcide’s sister, Janice (who works at the beauty salon Debbie goes to) to help her blend in.

Meanwhile, Merlotte’s has some drama of its own going on. Arlene is cranky, complaining about having too much work to do. Sam, keeping his promise to Sookie, hires Jessica as a hostess to keep her out of trouble. Then Arlene gets mad because she doesn’t want another redhead around to attract attention and split her tips. Jessica seems pleased to have something to do with her time, but she runs into a problem when a sweet boy she used to know from Bible study recognizes her. She glamours him to forget that he ever saw her (which Hoyt overhears and makes him have sad puppy eyes).

Jason looks on at Bud’s retirement party and sees Andy getting promoted to sheriff. On the other side of the bar, the current Bon Temps High School quarterback (expected to soon break Jason’s passing record) is messing around with his friends. Jason goes over and tries to share some wisdom: “10 years from now, there’s gonna be a version of you, 10 years younger, doing the same thing to you. And then who’re you gonna be?” Thinking about where he used to be, and where he’s ended up, Jason is still convinced that his life would mean something if he were a cop. He even blackmails Andy into making it happen: “I’m not doing them fake ride-alongs and filling out forms. I’m thinking there’s gotta be an easier way.” When Andy says he can’t break the rules, Jason uses his leverage with the Eggs situation, no matter what the consequences would be if people were to find out what they did: “There any rules about taking tv interviews and promotions for not shooting a killer dead, when I’m the one that’s gotta live with doing it?”

Poor Tara. Franklin forces his way into her house, tries to use her to get to Sookie, bites her, and is now holding her hostage. He might be genuinely insane, laughing about fruit and strapping a bouquet of flowers to her hands like it’s some sweet gesture. Tied up in the car taking her somewhere for a “surprise,” he explains, “My job supports my financial needs. My emotional ones…there’s so much I want to tell you. I’ve been so lonely, but now you’re mine, all that’s changed.” Their destination: Russell’s mansion.

With Bill in his service now, Russell wants to find out what Queen Sophie-Anne is up to. Bill worked for her as a “procurer” for 35 years. He sticks to his story that he was in Bon Temps by choice, “on sabbatical,” he says. The King knows he’s still hiding something about Sookie, but Bill reveals other useful information–he figured out that the Queen has been using Eric Northman to sell V in his area because of her money troubles with the IRS. Russell is pleased by the news: “Tug on the purse strings, you’ll find the lady’s heart.”

Sam thought he wanted to find his family, but now he can’t seem to get rid of them. Joe Lee and Melinda are camping out in their van in his parking lot, and Tommy has gone missing after trying to break into his safe. Sam feels for his brother, and when he finds him, he offers to let him stick around, but Tommy won’t leave his parents: “I ditch them tomorrow, they end up the gutter by the end of next week. You think I can live with that? I won’t be rid of these people until the day they die.” Sam decides to share the burden with Tommy, so gives the Mickens a place to stay until they can get on their feet, as long as they quit drinking. Oh, Sam, if only it could be that simple!

Lafayette has become attached to his fancy new car from Eric, so he sets off to sell the V. He meets with Calvin Norris in Hot Shot, but he doesn’t accept the offer. Lafayette is getting beat on by Calvin and his “brother-cousins” when Eric drops in from the sky to help change their minds. Lafayette and Eric are driving along talking business when Pam calls—the Magister is raiding Fangtasia looking for the V. The Queen set them up. Eric flies to her straight away, and finds the Magister burning her with the silver tip of his cane. Instead of turning in the Queen, Pam and Eric throw the blame on Bill. Eric asks for the opportunity to find the missing Bill and bring evidence of his blood betrayal. The Magister gives him two days, or he will use Pam to punish Eric: “They say the loss of a child is the deepest of despair.”

A few stick-on tattoos, lots of leather, and one black wig later, Sookie is ready for Lou Pine’s. Alcide reluctantly agrees to go, too, so that he can try to step his ex-girlfriend from being initiated into the vicious, V-addicted pack. Sookie is drinking shots with the same were who attacked her the previous night, when Debbie Pelt makes her charming introduction: “Who the fuck are you?!”

Russell takes Bill and Lorena out for a drink. Their limo pulls up to a strip club, and as if to make Bill prove his loyalty, the King sends him out on the hunt. Bill looks around at the various women and chooses the one with the sadness in her eyes to match his. As she says later when she’s dancing for him: “No point anyway. Loving anyone, anything. Feels good at first but always turns to crap. I know the truth about life. It’s a hell I’ll never get out of alive.” “No one does,” Bill replies.

Back at Lou Pine’s, Alcide tries to beg Debbie not to join up with this crew or other werewolves will never accept her. “I don’t need your pussy pack!” she screams. Then Russell arrives and the party begins. What follows is a creepy communion of sorts, with Russell biting into his own wrist and letting the blood pour into shot glasses. Passed around on trays, the weres take it and drink before branding Debbie with their mark. Then Coot shifts into his wolf form and starts howling. The energy in the room seems to take over, with everyone changing, even Alcide who can’t control it. His eyes turn orange and he yells at Sookie to run away. She gasps with fear, and elsewhere in Jackson, Bill senses her. He gets that familiar look of pain that Sookie is in danger, but he can’t go to her. He and the stripper climb into the limo, and Russell, Lorena, and Bill all start draining her. She was right about life, but sooner than she realized.

Joe Manganiello Talks Sookie, Debbie and the Season Finale

Joe Manganiello, who plays Sookie‘s new werewolf bodyguard Alcide in Season 3 of True Blood, admits that he was a huge fan of the show even before he joined the cast and he found his first day of filming very exciting.  Joe tells the New York Post:

“I remember filming the scene and literally thinking, “oh my god, that’s Sookie Stackhouse!”  Seeing Lafayette in full makeup was another amazing thing. There’s never a dull moment.  I sit there and play my part, but I also have a front row seat to Ryan Kwanten and Chris Bauer doing their thing as I bite the inside of my cheek to keep from laughing in their takes. It’s really awesome.”

Getting the part was just one half of the challenge.  The role of Alcide calls for complete physical fitness and required Joe to get into his best shape ever.  While he is naturally a big guy and genetics are in his favor, it still took a lot of work to get that body.  Charlaine Harris describes Alcide as having arms like boulders so Joe had to hit the gym.  He had his own ideas of what he felt the character should look like and he worked hard to make it happen.  When asked what attracted him to the Alcide character, Joe responded:

“He’s a character with a lot of heart who’s all about loneliness.  Being this giant superpowered person who has to live within the confines of human society, he’s had to live this solitary lifestyle.  I also grew up as a really big kid.  I could have beat every kid up in elementary school and stolen their lunch money.  But for me it was that struggle of learning how to be big and strong but not hurt other people.  And I think there’s a lot of that in Alcide. Learning to be weaker to appease everyone else.  And I think he battles with that, which is why it’s really fun when I get to let the beast out.”

Alcide has been ordered by Eric to help Sookie infiltrate a werewolf pack in an effort to locate Bill.  It is clear that he is not overly thrilled at being volunteered for the job and we learn in his first episode that Alcide’s ex Debbie Pelt is now engaged to Coot, the leader of the were gang that kidnapped Bill. With Alcide‘s growing attraction to Sookie, what part will Alcide and Debbie‘s history play in Season 3?  According to Joe, Alcide and Debbie have a very volatile relationship.  Adding that to the SookieBillEricAlcide quadrangle should make for a great season.

Alcide‘s in a dark, lonely, sad, heartbroken place because his fiancé, Debbie Pelt, has left him. His psycho ex girlfriend – she’s still floating around, causing trouble.  Then you’ve got Sookie going through her trials and tribulations with Bill. I think if you stick people in that situation – this big, strong, protective bodyguard with a girl, both heartbroken, sparks will happen. There’s a bit of lost puppy going on there.”

Fans are excited about the addition of the werewolves and other supernatural beings this season and Joe teases us in a big way when he tells the New York Post that the Season 3 finale has a much bigger cliff-hanger than the Season 2 finale did.  He tells us the finale is:

“Worse. Way worse. Waaaay worse. You have no idea what they’re going to spring on you in season three, it’s crazy. You’ve got the introduction of my race and a lot about where Sookie comes from. They answer a lot of questions and in answering those questions they open up a whole new universe. It’s pretty wild.”

While we definitely are not ready for the season to be over we are really looking forward to seeing how this all plays out!

Joe Manganiello: True Blood is About Humanity

Joe Manganiello is in the role of a lifetime.  Being a werewolf was his childhood dream and playing Alcide Herveaux on HBO‘s True Blood is a dream come true.

Joe credits his fans for getting him the role.  After finding blogs recommending him for the part of Alcide, Joe pressured his agents and managers to get him an audition.  “It’s a testament to this day and age of computers and blogging and fan sites.”

Initially, Joe was asked to audition for a smaller werewolf part.  Speaking in a phone interview with Collider.com, Joe stated that it was the best audition of his life.  He was brought back for a second interview, “then they wound up bringing me back in for Alcide“.

Talking about his role, Joe explained that Alcide is forced by Eric (Alexander Skarsgard) to play bodyguard to Sookie (Anna Paquin) during her daytime search for her missing vampire boyfriend Bill (Stephen Moyer).  “From there, Sookie and I are basically inseparable. I’ve sworn on my life to protect her.”

While Joe got a really good idea of his character from Charlaine Harris‘ books (on which the series is based), he got a much deeper insight during a conversation he had with Ms. Harris at the show’s Season 3 premier.  But, of course, creator Alan Ball deviates from the books and puts his own spin on the characters.

“If you read the books, you get the basic gist of who Alcide is, and the TV show is just a more fleshed out, deeper version.  You get into Alcide’s relationship with Debbie (Brit Morgan).  That isn’t necessarily shown, in depth, in the books. You really get into his past and the werewolf society a lot more.  It’s just a much fuller, much richer description.”

During the first day on the set, Joe was a bit star-struck by Sookie Stackhouse.  Having been a fan of the show and then the books, the whole situation felt kind of surreal.  “It really was like being sucked through the television into my favorite show.”

Speaking of Anna Paquin (Sookie), Joe has lots of admiration for her acting skills.

“I think Anna is one of the best actors I’ve ever worked with.  Watching how consistent she is with such highly emotional scenes was shocking to me.  There were days when she had to cry for 10 hours straight and she nailed it, every single take.  I find her to be a really inspiring person to work with.  Who she is in real life and then the character that she plays is such a huge departure that it’s really fun to watch.”

Moving on to Alcide and what we can expect to see this season, Joe spoke of the relationship between his character and ex-girlfriend Debbie Pelt. Debbie is 100% trailer trash, but there are moments where the girl that Alcide fell in love with shows up, and that’s what makes it so heartbreaking and so sad.”

So does that clear the way for a romance with SookieJoe said the attraction is definitely there.  But basically Alcide wants to be left alone to nurse his broken heart.  Unfortunately, circumstances won’t allow that to happen.

The interview went on to discuss how Joe keeps physically fit to allow him to play a character that is part animal.  He said he has to feel confident enough to exude that physical strength that a werewolf has.  He enjoys getting physical and was pleased that he was allowed to participate in the fight scenes.  It would be only natural, since werewolves “are a really rough bunch, so wherever there is a group of werewolves, there is always going to be a fight.”

It was evident that Joe has thought about the appeal of the show, about why it has such devoted fans.

“It’s going to sound funny, but I think that people respond to the humanity of the show.  I think the show, in its essence, is about what it means to be human.  It explores loneliness, love, lust, loss and death, but it does so through people that either were human and are no longer, or people that are only partially human, or people that aren’t human and are trying to live amongst the human society.”

And for now, Joe is feeling very lucky.  He has a role in the hottest show on television in the “coolest part I could every play”.  As for the timing – it appears that 2010 is the year of the werewolf.  He’s enjoying every moment of it.

What can we expect for the season finale?  All Joe would reveal is that “It’s going to be insane.  People are going to lose their minds!”

Brit Morgan Starring in SyFy Web Series, Buried Alive

One newcomer to True Blood in Season 3, Brit Morgan, will be playing Debbie Pelt, the character that fans of the books all love to hate. Those of you who might not be familiar with Brit from her work on The Middleman will soon know her very well once we all get immersed in the new episodes this summer.

In the meantime, though, you can watch Brit in 10-minute webisodes of an original horror series on SyFy called Buried Alive. The story follows a young man named Rick who is kidnapped and wakes up in a coffin six feet under ground.

Brit plays a girl named Melanie, and she and her brother, Travis (Jeff Blum), are the only ones who can figure out “the seemingly eternal jigsaw that is the maniacal plan of the twisted abductors.”

Not only is it interesting to find television moving into this new medium of online-exclusive streaming, but Buried Alive will be a great way to see Brit before we meet her as the delightfully horrible Debbie Pelt on True Blood in a few weeks!

True Blood Season 3 Spoiler Scoop

Here is some some new information about Season 3 of True Blood! Alan Ball has let a little more news spill about what’s coming up in Season 3, and it involves Debbie Pelt, Jason StackhouseSam Merlotte, and Lafayette Reynolds.

As we here at TrueBloodNet.com already reported, Alan is casting for Debbie Pelt, a character he calls “a badass bitch you do not want to get on the wrong side of.” Alan continued by saying, “She is not going to like Sookie.”

When it comes to what’s going to happen with Jason Stackhouse, be prepared for more of his antics, but some changes too. Jason is apparently going to wake up in the season 3 premiere with two women in bed with him, but that won’t dictate the rest of the season. Ryan Kwanten says that he can’t wait to see Jason in a better, more meaningful relationship, commenting, “He will find love in the werewolf world, and love is a pretty unknown concept for him.”

Sam Merlotte has some new storylines coming up too. Sam Trammell teased that Sam will be found in a not-so-great motel room in Arkansas with someone we fans will already know. Sam continued his teasing by saying, “It should be curious and confusing to viewers.”

Lafayette Reynolds‘ mom (and Tara‘s aunt), Ruby Jean Reynolds, is coming to Bon Temps too, and will be played by Alfre Woodard. As we’ve reported before, Ruby Jean is NOT a nice woman, though she will be intriguing. Alfre commented on Ruby Jean and said, “She’s not going to be a person that the audience loves. She’s not very accepting of Lafayette, which is fun to play.”

Sounds like a lot of fun new things are going to be happening in True Blood! How excited are you to see what happens next?
