True Blood Season 7: Carrie Preston Talks About De-Fellatio

Arlene Fowler and Betty get Personal:

Carrie Preston stars as Arlene Fowler in HBO's True Blood Season 7 Episode 2 entitled 'I Found You'Many fans of HBO’s True Blood were intrigued by the death of vampire Betty in Episode 2 (entitled I Found You) of True Blood Season 7. It seemed they were wondering whether Betty died because of an accelerated version of Hep-V or whether she possibly died because of something special in Arlene Fowler’s (Carrie Preston) blood.

Besides this dilemma, how did HBO even go about getting a person to explode while drinking blood from the femoral artery of Arlene? It seems Carrie Preston was happy to spill the beans in that department:

It’s a practical effect that actually happened between my legs,” she said with a laugh. “I ended up calling that doll De-fellatio [Laughs]—lady between my legs! I don’t know if you can print that, but that’s what I called her. De-fellatio remains very much part of that scene and it gets very scary, it gets very scary as the next couple of episodes are pretty terrifying…These Hep-V vampires are no joke…[T]hey’re still vampires and even though they’re weak, they’re still vampires and they’re stronger than humans.

While the mechanics of this scene is quite hilarious to think about, Carrie then goes on to drop the following bombshell:

The carnage does not end after episode two.

Oh. No.

True Blood Season 7: Ryan Kwanten Talks About THAT Scene in Episode 2

What Happens When Alexander Skarsgard and Ryan Kwanten Suggest They Work Together:

Ryan Kwanten (Jason Stackhouse) and Alexnader Skarsgard (Alexander Skarsgard) star in HBO's True Blood Season 7 Episode 2 (entitled 'I Found You')Fans of HBO’s True Blood have heard many rumors about a certain scene that finally appeared in True Blood Season 7 Episode 2 (entitled I Found You). It entailed a certain sex dream involving Eric Northman (Alexander Skarsgard) and Jason Stackhouse (Ryan Kwanten) thanks to a vampire blood healing Eric performed on Ryan in True Blood Season 6.

Well, fans were not let down with this scene tonight!

And, according to Ryan Kwanten, the idea was, mostly, his and Alexander Skarsgard’s:

There was word on the street that a scene was coming, and to be honest, Alex and I had been — not necessarily begging to work together — but we’d been pondering the thought, “What if we were ever put in a scene where it was just the two of us? What would happen?” And this is what our illustrious writers came up with.

While it took a while to set this scene up, the filming of it only took a couple of hours. And most of that time was spent laughing. The scene has been described as ‘elegant’, Ryan was not expecting the scene to turn out that way at all – but he’s happy it did.

But why is Jason all of a sudden dreaming of Eric Northman? After all, it’s been a while since they shared blood – more than six months in fact! Kwanten had this explanation:

Well, obviously, Jason has had these dreams before, with other vampires whose blood he’s had. I mean, Eric’s gotten himself into some trouble, and I think Jason sensed that.

It all makes sense now. What were your thoughts on this scene? Let us know in the comments below!

True Blood Quickie: True Blood Season 7 Episode 2 “I Found You” Recap

Episode 2 (entitled I Found You) of HBO’s True Blood Season 7 starts with the scene many Trubie fans had been holding out for: the Jason Stackhouse (Ryan Kwanten) and Eric Northman (Alexander Skarsgard) sex scene! But what else happened? Let’s take a look:

  • An apocalyptic scene from Episode 2 (entitled 'I Found You') of HBO's True Blood Season 7So Jason and Eric have a little chat, a little argument and then a whole heap of kissing – before Jason wakes up and realizes he’s dreaming of sex while in church!
  • It turns out Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin) is a better detective than Andy Bellefleur (Chris Bauer) – but that’s only because she tripped over a dead body she didn’t recognize last week. And so, after investigating the corpse, Sookie, Andy, Jason, Alcide Herveaux (Joe Manganiello), and Sam Merlotte (Sam Trammell) decide to take a trip to Saint Alice.
  • Lettie Mae (Adina Porter) – ever the addict – decides to visit Lafayette (Nelsan Ellis) to get some V so she can see her dead daughter, Tara (Rutina Wesley) via V-induced visions. This doesn’t go so well and Lettie Mae leaves empty handed. It’s not long though before she works out a little plan involving burning her hand and working on Willa Burrell (Amelia Rose Blaire). This time she gets herself a hit of vampire blood and manages to have a drug induced vision of Tara. She finds her daughter hanging on a giant cross and draped with a snake. While she can see Tara this time round, she cannot understand what she is saying. Looks like another hit of V is called for in Episode 3!
  • Sam, before leaving town, rallies the troops and they start to clean up Bellefleur’s for Arlene Fowler-Bellefleur (Carrie Preston) – if she ever returns alive. But, lo and behold, Vince (Brett Rickaby) arrives and stirs them all up and they go a hunting some guns in order to protect themselves from the Hep-V vampers. Luckily Adilyn (Bailey Noble) overhears one of the townsfolk and knows that they are just about to storm the sheriff’s station in order to get their hands on all the weapons there. So Adilyn convinces Holly’s son to go with her and they head on over to speak to Kenya (Tanya Wright).
  • Meanwhile, back at Fangtasia, Arlene works out that one of the Hep-V infected vampires is actually an old school teacher of her children’s – and so the begging begins. Both Arlene and Holly (Lauren Bowles) work on the woman – it seems to work too. That is until the vampire returns announcing they have a span of 12 minutes to escape. Arlene offers up her body in order to feed Betty, their new found ally – and then Betty goes and dies on them as she is feeding off Arlene!
  • But while all that is going on, Sookie and her gang are arriving at Saint Alice’s. Not only does Sookie find the house belonging to the corpse she tripped over in Bon Temps, but the woman also kept a comprehensive diary – one that reads a lot like the early love story between Sookie and Bill Compton (Stephen Moyer)! As well as learning a lot more about how Bon Temps will fare now the Hep-V vampires have their sights set on the town, there is a body pit to be found as well as the knowledge (thanks to Jason and his expert ‘ pizza forensics’) that Saint Alice was sucked dry only two and a half days earlier – and so the ticking clock of a countdown begins. Can they save Bon Temps in time?
  • Adilyn manages to get to the police station before the angry mass led by Vince – but only just. Turns out it’s not long enough to clear out the guns though. To make matter worse, when the towns folk arrive, they manage to convince Kenya to turn on Adilyn and she starts handing out the wretched guns to the riled up towns folk instead!
  • Now, because of this, Jessica Hamby (Deborah Ann Woll) wakes up as soon as she senses Adilyn’s precarious situation – but a lot of good that will do since it is still daylight and Jessica can’t go and find her. Instead she gets busy calling people. No one at the police station answers and neither does Sookie (since she threw her phone away in the cemetery last week). As soon as Andy returns home, Jessica is onto him and they argue before Jessica can hold him down long enough to convince him she hasn’t eaten his remaining daughter. It seems an uneasy alliance has been formed in order to find Adilyn.
  • At Sookie’s house, Alcide is beat and heads off to bed. Sookie makes him shower first before dirtying her sheets – but that’s just an excuse so she can sneak out of the house and pay a visit to Bill. It seems she has a plan…
  • Finally, we conclude Episode 2 of True Blood Season 7 with a cliffhanger. Pam (Kristin Bauer van Straten) played Russian roulette last week in order to find out the location of her maker, Eric Northman. And now she has finally found him – only to discover he has contracted Hep-V!

Episode 2, I Found You, Gets Two More Video Clips to Tease Fans:

Ryan Kwaten stars as Jason Stackhouse in Episode 2 of HBO's True Blood Season 7With only a few short days until Episode 2 (entitled I Found You) of HBO’s True Blood Season 7 airs, we have found a couple of teaser clips for you!

The first one features Andy Bellefleur (Chris Bauer), Jason Stackhouse (Ryan Kwanten), Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin), Sam Merlotte (Sam Trammell) and Alcide Herveaux (Joe Manganiello). This small group has ventured out to the neighboring town of Saint Alice. A town that is new to fans, but now we know why it is important this season – it was the last town attacked before the Hep-V vampires moved on to Bon Temps! Thanks to Jason and his uncanny ability to ingest and then estimate how old pizza is, we now know just how long ago the town of Saint Alice was attacked:

The second clip features Sookie and Bill Compton (Stephen Moyer). It seems Sookie is in need of Bill’s protection – or his knowledge of whether she is in trouble or not:

HBO: Official Synopsis for First Episodes of True Blood Season 7

HBO’s Press Release Promises Intrigue and a Search For Eric Northman:

One Last Bite True Blood Season 7 promo posterFans of HBO’s True Blood are eagerly awaiting June 22nd 2014 when the final season begins. While all the promos recently have shown plenty of hints in regards to a lot of the True Blood characters, Eric Northman (Alexander Skarsgard) has still remained elusive.

Recently we were blessed with a short synopsis of some of the first few episodes of True Blood Season 7, HBO has bitten the bullet and released the first official synopsis for Episode 1 and 2 of Season 7! The details for Episode 1 are below:

Episode #71: “Jesus Gonna Be Here”
Debut: SUNDAY, JUNE 22 (9:00-10:00 p.m. ET/PT)

A band of rogue H-vamps crashes the vampire-human mixer at Bellefleur’s, with shocking results. As Sookie (Anna Paquin) seeks refuge from accusations that she’s
somehow to blame for the chaos in Bon Temps, the “one vampire for every human” plan moves forward. In the face of a vigilante insurrection led by redneck Vince (Brett Rickaby), Bill (Stephen Moyer) receives aid from an unexpected source.

Written by Angela Robinson; directed by Stephen Moyer.

This is kind of what we expected since Brian Buckner along with other members of the cast have confirmed that Season 7 would start right where Season 6 left off. But, hello, Vince (played by Bruce Rickaby) is a new name! It seems we have yet another anti-vampire vigilante on our hands. As for Sookie (Anna Paquin) somehow coping the blame for the Hep V vampires, why isn’t the finger being pointed at someone more responsible for the outbreak?

The synopsis for Episode 2, however, is even more intriguing:

Episode #72: “I Found You”
Debut: SUNDAY, JUNE 29 (9:00-10:00 p.m.)

A trio of hostages taken in the Bellefleur’s attack looks to a familiar face as a possible liberator from the H-vamps. Sookie and Jason (Ryan Kwanten) visit the neighboring town of Saint Alice, where a young woman’s diary offers clues to the potential fate of Bon Temps. Spurned by Lafayette (Nelsan Ellis), a desperate Lettie Mae (Adina Porter) turns to Willa (Amelia Rose Blaire) to channel her family past. Vince whips his fellow vigilantes into a dangerous frenzy. Pam’s (Kristin Bauer van Straten) search for her maker leads her to a very familiar place.

Written by Kate Barnow; directed by Howard Deutch.

Who is that familiar face in Bellefleur’s? And why are Sookie and Jason (Ryan Kwanten) heading into a town we have never heard of before now? Who is this young woman whose diary offers up information on the fate of Bon Temps? Why is Lettie Mae (Adina Porter) turning to a vampire to find out about her past – and why is Willa (Amelia Rose Blaire) able to ‘channel’ now she’s a vampire?

The fact that Pam (Kristin Bauer van Straten) is still searching for Eric Northman is almost overlooked with all the questions arising as a result of the first part of this synopsis!

What do you think all of this means? Let us know in the comments below!

SPOILER ALERT: Synopsis’ of True Blood Season 7 Leaked!

Episode 1 and 2 Show the Hunt for Eric Northman Continues:

HBO's True Blood - Promo PosterFans of HBO’s True Blood are eager for the return of its final season on June 22nd 2014. It seems, with all the promotional items already on offer, there is one person who is glaringly absent: Eric Northman (played by Alexander Skarsgard).

The last episode of Season 6 saw the viking vampire going up in flames. Since then we have heard nothing in relation to whether or not he survives this inferno, other than showrunner Brian Buckner assuring us that he will be back for True Blood Season 7 – although he did not elaborate in what form or capacity he will be returning.

Now SpoilerTV has leaked the synopsis’ for both Episode 1 and 2 of Season 7. You can view the details below:

SpoilerTV leaks information on HBO's True Blood Season 7, Episode 1 and 2

So few words, so much that can be taken from them!

We now have a couple of episode titles we didn’t previously have as well as confirmation that True Blood Season 7 will indeed pick up from where it ended in Season 6. However, the particularly juicy piece of information comes in the second episode when it appears we will see an episode dedicated to Pam (played by Kristin Bauer van Straten) searching for her maker, Eric Northman.

Will she find him?

Considering the first episode is committed to the attack by Hep V infected vampires (and probably we can assume this will directly involve plenty of air time spent at Bellefleurs), it would imply a certain amount of time passing. Add this to the fact that there was already a time jump from Eric bursting into flames and the attack by Hep V invected vamps, it is possible that someone else has already rescued Eric from his extreme suntan. Who could it be? And in what condition will he be in?

True Blood Season 6 Episode 2 “The Sun” Recap

Rutger Hauer Gets a Name and Sookie Meets Ben:

Rutger Hauer stars in HBO's True Blood Season 6, Episode 2, entitled 'The Sun'HBO’s True Blood Season 6, Episode 2, entitled The Sun kicked off with a bang this week!

Who ever would have thought a contract that glows in the dark would be bad? Enter Warlow and man is he cranky!

Jason (Ryan Kwanten), meanwhile, is shooting at Rutger Hauer – who turns out NOT to be Warlow, but is in fact Jason’s fairy grandfather, Niall.

Tara (Rutina Wesley) is in pain – but not dead (yet – she could still be that death Buckner was talking about though). It turns out she was hit by a specially developed weapon – a silver bullet that emits UV light. That can’t be good. Lucky Eric (Alexander Skarsgard) is there to scoop it out with a broken bottle. She begins to feel better as soon as it is removed.

Deborah Ann Woll stars as Jessica Hamby in HBO's Season 6, Episode 2, entitled 'The Sun'Jessica (Deborah Ann Woll) is woken during the day by a tripped out Billith (Stephen Moyer) who is high on the visions (hallucinations?) of Lilith (Jessica Clark). The only thing that freaks out Jessica more is when Bill becomes catatonic! Little does she know that Billith is actually visiting with Lilith in some other nowhere place. Lilith has plenty to discuss with Billith, BUT…

…then the phone rings and we find Sookie (Anna Paquin) is late for work! Of course, this becomes more complicated when she finds an injured halfling fairy boy in the woods claiming (telepathically) that he was attacked by a vampire.

Enter Ben (Robert Kazinsky). And boy don’t the sparks fly there – both metaphorically AND fairy-like.

It looks like Sookie is NEVER going to get to work at this rate!

Merlotte’s could really use Sookie’s help too since they are run off their feet with patrons. Firstly, Terry (Todd Lowe) freaks out when Patrick’s (Scott Foley) wife turns up thinking Patrick has run off with another woman. Terry can’t lie – it’s lucky Arlene (Carrie Preston) can though!

Next we find Nicole Wright (Jurnee Smollett-Bell) making her grand entrance. It seems she is pro-vampire and knows all about the other supernatural beings – Sam (Sam Trammell) included. She tries to persuade Sam to jump on her ‘Out the Supes’ campaign, but I’m not so sure she is persuasive enough.

Then we are back to Billith’s Lilith-trip. It turns out that Billith is not god and neither is Lilith. Only god is god, yet people may end up worshipping Bill as a god in years to come. Oh dear, try saying that three times quickly!

Billith (Stephen Moyer) gets hungry in HBO's True Blood Season 6, Episode 2, entitled 'The Sun'Speaking of Billith, his eating habits have become atrocious since he became Billith. If you thought the sex scene between Bill and Lorena (Mariana Klaveno) was bendy enough, then you just might want to close your eyes for this one. I’d vomit (it was THAT gross) but that would remind me MORE of the scene…*shudders*

To lighten the mood and get us off the awful vision of Bill’s new blood-drinking regime, we find Sookie confiding in Ben about how sick she is of being different. Then one thing leads to another and Sookie is showing Ben the way to the fairy field.

I wonder if they’ll meet up with Andy (Chris Bauer) there? He is also at the fairy field, having a terrible two’s meltdown and begging Maurella (Kristina Anapau) to return and help raise their fairy-kids.

They don’t get very far though as Ben inadvertently reads Bill’s name straight out of Sookie’s head. She gets all pouty about this and leaves Ben to his own devices. I wonder if Ben really is as good as he seems? I hope, for Sookie’s sake, that he is!

Jason and Niall are at Sookie’s house, checking out the portal between the worlds that Warlow used to show himself to Sookie. Niall jumps in, Jason tries and fails, then Niall returns all filled with talk of doom and gloom.

Sookie returns home then and Jason introduces the pair to each other. It seems Niall and Sookie are fairy royalty – but it skipped a generation with Jason. Aw, poor thing! So Niall announces that Warlow is already within their world and sets about showing Sookie how she can make her fairy light ball into a supernova version that will take down any vampires in the vicinity. It comes at a cost though – Sookie can only use it once and then she is fae no more. When will Sookie be made to use it and lose it, I wonder?

Eric Northman (Alexander Skarsgard) goes undercover in HBO's True Blood Season 6, Episode 2, entitled 'The Sun'Next, enter Eric in a BAD undercover costume! It appears the only person on hand at the time was a guy from the Department of Wildlife and Fisheries. That’s okay though, as it gets Eric in the door. Governor Burrell (Arliss Howard) and Eric then have a very interesting conversation about birds – if you read between the lines, it’s a very thinly veiled attempt by Eric to let the Governor know what will happen if the humans try to defeat the vampires.

The Eric glamors Governor Burrell – which is when the do-do really hits the fan! It seems, along with the UV light emitting bullet, the Governor has also designed contact lenses that repel vampire glamoring. Eric is arrested and taken away to some place called ‘The Camp’. It seems that while the Governor isn’t scared of vampires, his security staff certainly are and Eric manages to fly right out of their clutches!

Lucky for Eric, not so lucky for Governor Burrell’s daughter though as Eric returns and lies in wait until Willa Burrell (Amelia Rose Blaire) removes her vampire-repelling contact lenses and glamors her into letting him in. Oh dear, Governor Burrell, you are in trouble now!

Alcide (Joe Manganiello) has turned into the very thing he didn’t want to be – a nasty piece of alpha male! Sam and Lafayette (Nelsan Ellis) cop the brunt of his attack to reclaim Emma.

We end True Blood’s Season 6, Episode 2, The Sun, with Jessica praying – to the god of Billith!

She asks him to help save all the people she loves – including Hoyt (Jim Parrack) and Bill. (And I must say, Deborah Ann Woll’s performance in this scene is just outstanding.) So the whole time Billith is still out of it and Lilith is telling him to trust his visions and that he can save the vampires.

Billith then wakes up and we discover the visions he had earlier are now in fact eventuating! This is scary enough – until Billith has a vision of all the vampires we love so much trapped in a room. The roof then opens and sunlight streams in – burning them all!

Can Bill really save vampire-kind?

I sure hope so!

True Blood Season 6 Star Jurnee Smollett-Bell Premiere’s Tonight!

Jurnee Smollett-Bell Gets Set for Episode 2, ‘The Sun‘ Premiere:

Jurnee Smollett-Bell stars as Nicole Wright in HBO's True Blood Season 6

Jurnee Smollett-Bell (who will play a character called Nicole) is excited about the arrival of her first True Blood Season 6 episode, entitled The Sun and premiering tonight on HBO. She had this to say to Elle.com about her character, who is a political activist:

She comes to Bon Temps as an activist, as an organizer, to help with the war the humans have waged against the humans and supernaturals. I come to Sam [Merlotte, played by Sam Trammell] initially to try to recruit him and get him to come out of the closet as a shifter. It terrifies him. Nicole would be occupying Wall Street in the regular world, but it’s the vampire cause here.

While Smollett-Bell had never seen an episode of True Blood before landing the role, she is now up to date on all the goings on in Bon Temps and Shreveport. She is, however, glad to be working with such a professional group of cast and crew:

I’ve had that experience before, and the show is made of amazing actors. It’s thrilling to be in the company of pros, because it makes your job easier and harder at the same time. They’re so great to work with, but you have to be better and improve in every single scene.

VIDEO: True Blood Season 6 Episode 2 Preview: ‘The Sun’

HBO Releases Episode 2 Preview:

Billith (Stephen Moyer) meets Lilith (Jessica Clark) again in HBO's True Blood Season 6, Episode 2 entitled 'The Sun'I know True Blood is only a day away, but even that seem a bit too long to wait sometimes! Luckily HBO has been kind enough to provide a little snippet of what’s to come in Episode 2 entitled, The Sun.

Thanks HBO!

Basically, this is what goes down:

  • Lilith (Jessica Clark) has some unfinished business
  • Tara (Rutina Wesley) is burning up
  • Eric (Alexander Skarsgard) gets a REALLY bad makeover
  • Sookie (Anna Paquin) meets Ben (Robert Kazinsky)
  • Jason (Ryan Kwanten) pulls a gun (again) on Rutger-Hauer-Warlow-Niall

VIDEO: True Blood Season 6, Episode 2 Preview – Sookie & Ben

Can’t Wait Till Sunday Night for HBO’s True Blood?

True Blood Season 6 promo still of Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin)Then check out the latest video sneak peek of True Blood Season 6 Episode 2 entitled, The Sun.

In this clip we get to meet Ben (played by Season 6 newcomer, Robert Kazinsky). Ben is injured – apparently attacked by a vampire – and Sookie (Anna Paquin) comes to his aid. She soon discovers that not only can she read his mind, but he is a halfling fairy!

The biggest question this video raises for me is the fact that it’s daytime and Ben is claiming he was attacked by a vampire. Did this attack occur at night? Or, can this vampire come out during the day? After all, the title of Season 6 Episode 2 is The Sun. Could this maybe be a Billith (Stephen Moyer) attack? And how did Ben escape, especially if he was attacked by a vampire as powerful as Billith?

True Blood Season 5 Episode 2 “Authority Always Wins” Recap

A New Twist on an Old Tale:

Roman threatens to stake Bill while Eric looks on*WARNING! Spoilers ahead!*

We start this episode with the new and improved Tara – and boy is she cranky! Pam commands Tara NOT to kill Lafayette and Sookie, confines her to Sookie’s house for the night, and promptly leaves for Fangtasia. The relationship between Tara and her maker is certainly lining up to be a fangy one.

Once the theme song rolls, we discover Bill, Eric and Nora’s fate. It seems the plot will certainly be thick with this story line. It will be very interesting to discover Nora’s true agenda. But until then, the three of them are placed in cells and we switch to the werewolves, who are still muzzle deep in the guts of their old pack master. Alcide struggles with his new role as the pack’s replacement. A lot of the pack are just as unimpressed. Later on, we also discover how this story line will affect the relationship between Sam and Luna – especially in relation to Luna’s daughter.

The Terry plot is starting to disturb me, since he is getting more and more violent and secretive. Arlene seems to agree with me and heads off to visit Terry’s army friend. Needless to say, this does not go down well with Terry!

So, we’re back with Tara and her new-found vampirehood after that. Lafayette and Sookie are trying desperately to placate the new vampire. Eventually, they manage to subdue her with the use of a blood tease and some silver chains. Tara is then whisked away to Eric’s old hidey hole. Lafayette is beginning to have second thoughts about changing her. The stakes are out in this episode, Lafayette being the first to wield one at his cousin. Luckily, Sookie talks him out of it.

Pam, meanwhile, has returned to Fangtasia and is trying to locate Eric. Ginger is completely unhelpful. Although, the resulting flashback to Pam’s life before she was turned is completely helpful to the audience in beginning to understand the relationship between Pam and her maker, Eric.

This creates a great segue back to the fate of Eric, Bill and Nora. We discover just how effective the Vampire Authority are at torturing information out of vampires. A very interesting twist on the Bible in relation to Lilith and vampires is also brought up during these torture scenes.

Debbie Pelt’s car is discovered by Andy and Jason Stackhouse. Hints at Jason finally getting a moral conscience are brushed upon throughout the episode — to the point that Jason even tries to apologize to Hoyt. This idea is blended along with snippets of Rev. Steve Newlin and his new-found joy at being a vampire. It is interesting to note that his re-hashed religious beliefs in relation to vampires is also mirrored to a degree with those of the Vampire Authority — is this why he was changed?

Jessica is still partying while Bill is gone – with seemingly no thought to her maker’s whereabouts or safety. The show-stealer scene of the night occurs here with Jessica and Steve Newlin vying for Jason Stackhouse. Newlin is prepared to buy Stackhouse and Jessica is prepared to mess with his head before announcing she won’t sell her on-again off-again boyfriend.

We are finally introduced to the Vampire Authority head, Roman, in the next scene — hello Detective Stabler! Well, not really, but there has been much anticipation to see how well actor Chris Meloni transfers from the detective role that made him so famous, to that of a vampire. It is a very even transition, I am glad to report! I am not so glad to announce that the fates of Eric and Bill rest in his hands. This brings us to stake moment number 2. Poor Bill almost gets it from Roman before he restrains himself. Bill buys time by announcing that Russell Edgington is still alive. This is very likely to be their saving grace moment. We are also introduced to a very creepy child vampire in this scene. Where they go with that character should be interesting.

The episode then closes with a close up shot of Russell. Boy, is he one sick puppy still!

So, c’mon guys, throw your theories at us! Where do you think Season 5 is headed? Please comment below.

They’re also building a “weird looking metal shack” and allowing Sam (Sam Trammell) to go more grey this season. You heard it here first, people! (Sorry if we just ruined the whole season for you.)

True Blood: Season 1, Episode 2- The First Taste

tbhboLast we left our heroine Sookie Stackhouse she had just escaped a run in with the Rattrays and was doing her best to dodge Vampire Bill‘s strange question “What are you?”

In Episode 2, Alan Ball shows us something really special that will become a pattern in nearly every episode: each new episode (with very few exceptions) begins at the exact tense moment the previous episode ended. What effect does this have on the viewer? It makes it very difficult to discern when an episode is about to end, but instead of waiting in anticipation (thinking “Oh, man, I bet this is almost over!”) you end up on the edge of your seat until that last second when something suspenseful gets cut off by the ending credits (which is, incidentally, exactly where the next episode begins).

Episode 2 opens with a horrifying beating, as Sookie is beaten and bloodied by the evil Rattrays. Just when she is on the brink of death, the dog frequently spotted at Merlotte’s distracts the duo, who is then quickly dispatched by a force moving so quickly it can hardly be seen. Then, a foot in front of Sookie’s face. Bill has come to save her (it’s only fair since she saved him).

Jason has to watch the tape of him bedding Maudette, where he thinks he’s killed her. Bud Dearborn and Andy Bellefleur sit watching with him, disgusted and unamused. It becomes clear from the tape that Jason is innocent and he is able to go home, for now.

Meanwhile, Bill heals Sookie by having her drink some of his blood, which he explains will have unexpected side effects for her (remember, vampire blood, or V, is often used as a drug by humans). Her wounds heal and she begins to feel better almost instantly– she even tells Bill about her telepathy and how “peaceful” being with him is since she cannot hear his thoughts. While Sookie fiendishly drinks the blood of Vampire Bill, Tara convinces her cousin Lafayette to pick her up to bring her to a party so she doesn’t have to deal with her drunk mother; Jason makes a house call to Dawn, and falls back on his usual coping mechanism: sex (where he unexectedly notices fang marks on Dawn’s neck). As Bill walks Sookie to her car, she presses him a bit about his past and learns how old he is. She also asks him if he will come speak to her grandmother’s club, The Descendents of the Glorious Dead. He accepts because he wants to make her happy.

The next morning Sookie notices some of the side effects of the blood she drank from Bill. Her grandmother’s breakfast tastes “more complex” than ever before (heightened senses are a common side effect of drinking V). Tara stops by and when Jason also drops in we see something new: the look in Tara’s eyes when she looks at Jason.

Later on, the bodies of the Rattrays are found amongst what appears to be the remains of their home, destroyed by a tornado. What srikes the authorities as odd is the fact that no bad weather was reported and the tornado didn’t “hop” like one normally tends to do.

Bill stops by to talk to Gran about speaking to The Descendents of the Glorious Dead, and Jason and Tara decide to hang around to see what he’s like (and to act like children, making rude comments). After the group talks for a bit, Bill takes Sookie on a walk, where they talk about the tornado. Sookie isn’t upset with Bill, but reminds him that he should be more careful. Sookie learns more about how vampires operate (and feed), and Bill unsuccessfully tries to glamour her (it’s unsuccessful because she’s a telepath). Bill also tells Sookie that since she has had his blood he “will always feel” her, which could “come in handy” when she’s in trouble.

Episode 2 ends when Sookie arrives at Bill’s to give him the names and numbers of some electritians who are willing to work on his house at night. She is greeted by three unfamilair vampires: Diane, a tall, curvaceous black woman with a sassy attitude; Malcolm, a scary, but funny vampire with a wonderful, slow Southern drawl; and Liam, the viscious vampire from Maudette’s tape, who ends the episode with his fangs extended and a rustling growl being emitted from his throat.

Bill and Sookie also share their first kiss, which is abruptly ended when Bill’s fangs uncontrollably extend and he decides to walk her home before things get out of control. Until next time…

Important things to remember: Alan Ball is quite clever. He uses certain elements as themes to shape parts of the story. Pay particular attention to the music that is played each time Bill and Sookie are in an intimate (even a perceived intimate) situation. The music is important, it’s part of the story, and it’s really beautiful. Also, don’t write off the way Bill constantly makes mention of Sookie’s “differentness.”

True Blood 102 The First Taste

After Sookie gets saved by Bill she suffers a lot of injuries and Bill tries to save her “the Vampire way”. The next day her brother is released from police custody and the bodies of Sookie’s attackers are found. Later that day Bill goes to visit Sookie’s family and gets a not so friendly welcome.

Bill returns Sookie’s favor by rescuing her from the Rattrays’ revenge, healing the wounded waitress with his own blood and leaving her with temporarily heightened senses. After being invited into Gran’s (Lois Smith) house for a “get-to-know-you” gathering with Jason and her family, Bill joins Sookie for a nocturnal sojourn. They end up at Bill’s dilapidated antebellum estate, where he fights off his primal vampire urges for the acquiescent Sookie. Later, Sookie’s desires get the better of her as she returns to Bill’s – and is greeted by a gaggle of his bloodthirsty vampire friends.
