Jim Parrack Discusses Why He Returned to True Blood

Hoyt Fortenberry Gets an Unwelcome Phone Call From a Friend He Can’t Remember:

Jim Parrack stars as Hoyt Fortenberry in HBO's True Blood Season 7 Episode 4 (entitled Death is not the End)In Episode 4 (entitled Death is not the End) of HBO’s True Blood Season 7, we witnessed a scene between Jason Stackhouse (Ryan Kwanten) and his glamoured ex-best friend, Hoyt Fortenberry (Jim Parrack). Not only was the scene heart breaking to watch because Hoyt learns of the death of his mother, Maxine Fortenberry (Dale Raoul) but because it is a conversation between two men who were once best friends. Of course, after Jason slept with Hoyt’s girlfriend, Jessica Hamby (Deborah Ann Woll), the friendship was over and Hoyt made the decision to move away and have Jessica glamour both her and Jason out of his memories completely.

While Truebie fans were glad to see Hoyt return to True Blood (even if it wasn’t under the best of circumstances), actor Jim Parrack was at first hesitant to return to the vampire series:

I liked the arc I had where, in the first season Hoyt was very much like a child, and by the end of it he made a man’s decision to strike out on his own. So I couldn’t have been happier with it. I liked the way it ended. I felt like I had done everything I could with that character without starting to repeat some things. Also, I’m creatively satisfied, I have other things going on (movies, Broadway).

But after thinking about it, he decided to return for the following reason:

The thing that made me want to come back was just my friends on the show, really. We took big cuts on the money, the schedule was crazy, but there are a couple dozen people on the show that I consider to be my friends. Two years is a lot of time for an actor when you’re growing. I’m a much better actor than I was when I left the show. It’s nice to reinvent the role and think about what may have changed for Hoyt. So I could come back and be a different kind of actor about it, and also do it with my friends. I owe so much of my professional success to the opportunity that (creator) Alan Ball gave me on True Blood. So I wanted to be there for the end if I could.

Jessica talks breakups and growing up.

Hey Trubies in Jessica Hamby first Vblog she discusses Season 5 of HBO’s True Blood, but in particular, her break up with Hoyt Fortenberry. She talks about no longer being a baby vamp or an old married vamp but a teenage vamp! There is also news about her break up feelings:

“She is going to compartmentalize her breakup blues. She is going to pretend her breakup blues are locked away in a box and she is going to throw away the key, she said that’s the only way to cope with bad situations. She also said that feeling are like air they are here one minute and poof gone the next.”

She also introduced us to a frat guy from the party she is throwing named bobby from UNL. you can watch the video below or click on the source.

I, for one, think she needs to stay with Hoyt. What do you think of her new vblog you can comment in the comment section below?

Parrack Wants Hoyt to Go Crazy:

Jim Parrack talks to Pop Sugar TV at the EmmysRecently Jim Parrack talked to Pop Sugar TV while at the Emmys. He was asked about what direction he would like to see his character, Hoyt Fortenberry take on HBO’s True Blood. Here is what he had to say:

“Someone with that much inherent goodness, you can spend your goodness up like a currency, and pretty soon the account is empty. Right? So I don’t know what is going to happen next, but I do know that the three people that [he’s] had in Hoyt’s life… have betrayed him terribly and in a very short amount of time.  So what does someone do who’s used to living for other people and suddenly they’re all gone?”

Parrack was happy to answer his own question. He would like to see Hoyt just go crazy. He would like to see booze, drugs and women involved. Murder was not out of the question for him either.

Andy Bellefleur’s New Guns

Jim Parrack is afeard!

Jim Parrack @ Paley 2011 (David Livingston/Stringer)In a recent interview with New York Magazine, Jim Parrack, the actor who plays our lovable Hoyt Fortenberry, gave us the scoop on one of his co-stars.  Apparently, Chris Bauer (Detective Andy Bellefleur), unveiled something interesting at a recent work meeting — his buff new bod!

“Chris came into a table reading a couple weeks ago and he had on his cop uniform, and I stood up and I said, ‘I would actually do what this cop says to do,’ because Chris’s muscles were just popping.  I’m not kidding, he got fit. Chris’ll whoop all of our asses now.”

It’s only fitting that Andy should be extra prepared for whatever supernatural baddie may come his way.  He’s going to need all the help he can get this season!

Any fans of Chris Bauer out there?  Are you excited to see him and his new ‘gunshow’?

Spoilers! What’s in Store for Season 4?

The Inside Scoop on Sam, Tara, Hoyt and Jessica:

Waiting does suck, but spoilers sure do make it easier! Thanks to Eonline and ClevverTV we’ve got a few new teasers to pass along. Who will fall in love? Who will find happiness? And who will do some father-daughter bonding?

Sam

Sam Trammell as Sam Merlotte in True BloodIs love in the air for Sam in Season 4? Well, maybe. Sam Trammel (Sam Merlotte) does admit his character will be getting a new love interest, but how long it will last is a mystery. In the past, the ladies romantically involved with Sam didn’t last long. Let’s hope the new lady in his life survives. Regarding the show, he also adds it will:

“Explore the shape shifter community a little bit more, so there’s going to be a lot of cool mythological stuff.”

Tara

Rutina Wesley as Tara Thornton True BloodIt seems things might be getting better this season for Tara. Quality time with her best friend Sookie is sure to help. But in true Tara fashion, things won’t be rosy for long. And on top of it all Tara will spend some time thinking about Sam Merlotte and his shape-shifting ways.

Jessica & Hoyt

Jessica and Hoyt True BloodCan their blossoming relationship stay perfect for much longer? Deborah Ann Woll (Jessica Hamby) dished on Jessica and Hoyt, admitting that the first two episodes will pick up with “a bit more trouble happening.” On the bright side it seems Jessica will finally get some much needed mentorship from Bill.

Fresh Spoilers for Season 4 from Alan Ball and Cast

Spoilers Galore! What to Expect From the Main Characters:

True Blood PaleyFest 2011Alan Ball and most of the True Blood cast were at PaleyFest 2011, spilling beans left and right.  If you’d like to remain in the dark and be surprised come June, please stop reading!

The scoop on Sookie: Only four episodes have been shot, but she’s already kissed two people.  Hint — neither one was Bill!  Ball assures us Sookie won’t be forgiving Bill any time soon.  Well, no one can blame her.  As you may recall, it was revealed last season that Bill was actually sent Sookie’s way by the Queen (Evan Rachel Wood).  He let Sookie get beat up so that he could heal her, by way of making her drink his blood, thus guaranteeing a bond between the two.  According to Ball: “The betrayal is so deep that I don’t think she sees a way back from that.  That’s why we need 17 seasons!”  In the meantime, Sookie’s learned a few things while cavorting with the fairies.  Just not how to control her “microwave fingers”.

What’s happening with Bill?  Last we saw, he and Queen Sophie-Anne were in full attack mode in mid-air.  The only thing Ball will say is, “There is a bite-off [between Bill and the Queen]. Things happen.  It’s not just the two of them involved”.  Hmm… cryptic, much?

And finally, the lowdown on Eric: to the delight of many, it’s been confirmed he will have amnesia.  How does it happen?  Why?  We don’t know the details, but here is Alexander Skarsgård‘s take:

“He messed with the wrong people, he’s definitely not stable.  He doesn’t know who he is anymore… Eric needs help.  There are a lot of friendly people in Bon Temps kind enough to help.  The powerful character he was is just gone.  He’s the polar opposite of who he used to be.  He’s just completely lost… and very vulnerable.”

The Merlotte’s Gang:

What is the deal with Arlene‘s baby?  Or, as Ball puts it, her “evil” baby?  Rene’s progeny will be born tout de suite, and Terry will become a loving, proud papa.  Says Carrie Preston (Arlene), “That problem grows exponentially”.

Where is Tara Mae?  Thankfully, we’ll find out soon enough.  The old Tara is back in Bon Temps, minus the long hair.  What can we expect from her? Rutina Wesley says, “She may find some happiness, but just for a bit… You’ll find out early on where she’s been”.

Ring ring, hookah, ring ring.  Lafayette‘s gentleman caller, Jesus, revealed himself to be a brujo (witch), and clearly, a spell has been cast.  Whether it’s a literal spell, or Lafayette is simply in love, we don’t know for sure.  But we are certainly looking forward to finding out.

Speaking of lovers, things are looking good for Jessica and Hoyt.  Well, to a degree.  They’ll be facing many obstacles, but at least they’ll be facing them together.  Or will they?  Remember Mrs. Fortenberry?  “Mom is awful”, says Jim Parrack.  The rest of the anti-vamp populace also adds to their problems.  However, according to Parrack, we need not despair.  “Jessica is the one,” he says.

Last but not least, we have Mr. Merlotte himself, Sam.  The poor guy hasn’t had much luck in the love department, but he’s being given another chance.  According to Trammell, “I get another shot.  I’m at bat again.  I think Sam will sober up.”  But leave it to Alan Ball to throw a wrench in things.  Concerning Sam’s sobriety, Ball says, “He can do that for one episode”.  Why would that be?  Ah, remember how Sam shot his brother?  That may come back to bite him in the butt.

As for the Rest of Bon Temps (And Its Environs):

Jason Stackhouse (Ryan Kwanten) was last seen in Hotshot, delivering a sweet, heartfelt speech.  Entrusted with the care of his werepanther girlfriend’s kin, we can only assume he’ll be doing his “Jason” best.  The only thing we’re going to get out of Kwanten is, “He should not be looking after an entire village of meth addicts — he’s Jason Stackhouse.”

While we’re on the subject of drugs, let’s talk about V — vampire blood.  Who’s it going to affect this season?  If you recall, Andy Bellefleur kept a vial of it, and curiosity’s going to get the better of him.  Oh, Andy.  What kind of mishaps are we going to see now?

Who’s rising from the dead?  Or is it the undead?  The final death?  Whichever one it is, the answer is no one.  We will, however, see Godric again, presumably by way of flashbacks.  Can you guess who else is back, but in the flesh?  The Vampire King of Mississippi, Russell Edgington.  Says Alan Ball, “We have definite plans to bring him back — and he’s gonna be pissed”.

Now for our favorite were, Alcide: Will he be hooking up with Sookie, or is he still not over Debbie?  As for Debbie, Manganiello says, “she’s still alive and at large, so you never know”.  We do know for certain, however, that Alcide will be spending time with Sookie.  Which is sure to set Debbie off.

A few last tidbits from Alan Ball: coming to the show will be “some new witches, new vampires, new humans, a new werewolf, and a child”, and in animal form, “a gator, a rattlesnake, and an attack owl”.

There you have it, folks.  Those are all the official spoilers we have for now, but rest assured we’ll keep them coming.  Who’s excited for Season 4?!

Forbitten Love — Discoveries

Love can be fleeting as a rainstorm, span the length of a man’s life or be as eternal as time itself. It can be so fiery that it consumes your body and soul or live as a warm ember within your beating or silent heart. It can be expressed in words, glances, the timber of your voice, tender gestures, gifts and sacrifices.  But it’s never so succulent and desperate as when it’s Forbitten Love…

It’s a rainy, hot and muggy night, the air smells of wet earth while Bill slowly wends his way through the cemetery that lies between his and Sookie’s house. Before being turned, Bill had enjoyed walking in the rain, but like so many things since, this too has lost some of its romanticism and relaxation.

Suddenly, Bill spots Hoyt Fortenberry leaving a crypt near the back of the cemetery then hurry to his truck before speeding away. He wonders what the love sick, young fool was up to. He really doesn’t hold out much hope for a relationship between Jessica and the young man. After all, it’s much more likely that Jessica will drain him during a necking session than it is a newly turned vampire being able to control her natural instincts. As a matter of fact, Bill figured this wasn’t going to amount to anything other than the baby vamp learning a cruel lesson and possibly one dead road-crew worker.

He has to admit however, he might be softening on the matter of their relationship since Jessica seems calmer and more mature with Hoyt in her life. Her attitude lately was definitely an improvement over the petulant child he had been saddled with after being forced to create her.

Bill slips inside the small dank building and searches around the musty crypt before spotting a neatly folded piece of paper peeking out of an urn. After pulling it from it’s hiding spot he drops it suddenly, startled as a spider skitters across the back of his hand. Bill lets out a few curse words then looks around embarrassed that he, a century old vampire, was just scared by a spider. Ugh.
Muttering, Bill reaches down and retrieves the paper then unfolds it and begins to read:

My Dearest Jessica,
I hope by now you got my message that I’ve left this letter here for you. I’m not sure if Vampire Bill will allow me to come to your house. I’m not so sure how to do a lot of stuff around vampires. So for now, I‘ll just leave my letters for you here and hope you‘ll leave some for me too.

Jessica, there are so many things I’d like to tell you but I guess the best thing to do is to just start at the beginning.

Meeting you in Merlotte’s the other night was the greatest thing that ever happen to me in my life. Before you walked in that door you know I was just thinking, “How come you never meet any nice girls, Hoyt?”

Then BAM, like a bolt of lightning, the sight of you hit me and froze me to the spot. When I watched you walk to the table next to mine in that beautiful yellow sundress, it felt like I was standing in a pure ray of sunshine, only not the kind that beats down on me when I’m workin’ on the road crew with Jason. And your pretty red hair with those big bouncy curls, made me want to reach right out and touch it just to see if I‘d get burned by it. It’s like you walk around carrying the warm glow of summer with you where ever you go, which is kinda’ funny since you can‘t go out in the sun at all.

When you sat down and started reading the menu then glanced up and smiled at me, I knew there was something between us. Just sitting with you talking, getting to know each other felt real good. I gotta’ admit though, I was a little taken aback when you ordered a True Blood. But that smile, along with your pretty blue eyes make me forget you’re a vampire, not that it matters to me even when I do remember you‘re one.

And when we finally kissed! WOW! My heart felt like it was ready to explode! I couldn’t even believe that you could possibly like me as much as I like you. I felt luckier than the day I won that fifty dollar scratch off!

I especially thought it was cute when your fangs popped out. But I meant what I said when I told you “Don’t be embarrassed about what you are. You’re Great!”

If you really think about it, there are more good things about being a vampire than there is bad. For example: You won’t get fat, old or ugly like my mama. Not that I care one bit about any of that, except that you don‘t get all mean like her, but I don‘t think you will. Another cool thing is you’re super strong! Heck, you could even lift the car if I ever need to change a flat tire. I really do like you a lot Jessica, and I really hope you feel the same way about me. I promise that we can take this real slow. I know we have to get used to different things about each other. Even guys and girls who aren’t vampires have to do that. I just want you to know I think we could have something real special here and hope you think so too.

I will check back here every day for your reply.

Yours,
Hoyt Fortenberry

Bill couldn’t help chuckling as he returned the folded paper back to its hiding spot in the urn. He had to admit, although Hoyt wasn’t exactly a poet he had no doubt Jessica would hug herself silly over his earnest words. He could already picture her responding with a few flowery words of her own. Not many women were able to resist the power of a love letter. With that thought, Bill hurried from the cemetery thinking of all the things he would include in his letter to Sookie.

True Blood Season Finale Spoiler Clip: Hoyt’s Intervention

HBO has done it again with yet another True Blood Season 3 finale clip! It looks like Hoyt‘s mother is very desperate to see him get back together with Summer! (I can’t believe she even brought the high school guidance counselor with her to Hoyt’s work site!)

Will Hoyt give in to his mother’s demands, or is his love for Jessica strong enough to survive this latest attack from Mrs. Fortenberry?
