True Blood: Is the “Real” Season 6 Major Death Still to Come?

Will We See One More Death in the Finale?:

True Blood's Anna Paquin

With the Season 6 Finale of True Blood less than a week away, there is the lingering possibility that the Season 6 major character death is still to come.  Fans watched with awe and sadness in Episode 6, when the lovable and tormented Terry Bellefleur(Todd Lowe) set the wheels in motion to put an end to his tortured life.  We knew almost immediately that Terry would be the “major” character death of Season 6. Episode 7 confirmed our feelings, and yet the death of Terry Bellefleur for some was a little anti-climatic.  Yes Terry has been in the series since the beginning, but Terry? The major character death?

I would like to propose another twist that the major character death is still to come in the Season 6 Finale which aires next Sunday August 18 on HBO. The major character death could in fact be none other than Bon Temps favourite telepath, Sookie Stackhouse(Anna Paquin).

What we know:

1) Sookie has promised to become Warlow(Rob Kazinsky’s) faerie vampire bride, this can only be achieved with the “death” of Sookie. Sookie reconfirmed her promise to Warlow in Episode 9.

2) Sookie does not want to die and be buried next to her parents for all of eternity.

3) Sookie’s “death” would not mean the end of her time on the show True Blood, it would mark the beginning of a very interesting storyline.

It has been said in an interview that the finale brings “game changer” status to True Blood. Having Sookie become a vampire would definitely be a game changer, since we have spent the past 5 seasons listening to her say that she would never turn into a vampire…

So Truebies what do you think? Will Sookie go through with the faerie vampire wedding, marking the “real” major character death of the season?

Todd Lowe Talks About Terry Bellefleur’s Death in True Blood Season 6

Now That the Dust Has Settled, Let’s See What Todd Lowe Has to Say:

Arlene Fowler (Carrie Preston) comforts Terry Bellefleur (Todd Lowe) in HBO's True Blood Season 6 Episode 6, entitled 'Don't You Feel Me?'We all knew it was coming; that big awful death of a True Blood character. And while many people are now saying that HBO played it safe with killing off a long time character, rather than a major character (it was no red wedding after all), it was still a tragic moment.

It’s been a few days now, we’ve had some time to reflect and take in the whole scenario surrounding the self-ordered hit, the glamor and the ultimate tragedy of Terry Bellefleur (played by Todd Lowe) dying not long after he was freed from this inner demons. Now lets hear what the actor himself had to say about it all.

Firstly, let’s start with that round table read – the one where everyone started crying:

Yeah. We were on location on this ranch in Malibu, and we were all crammed in this lunch truck, and we got to that scene, and we played it out, and there was about five minutes of applause afterwards. It was the biggest ovation I’d ever gotten in my life. Even thinking about it now, it tears me up.

Lowe found out about his demise at the start of this year, with Brian Buckner taking him aside and assuring the actor that it wasn’t because of anything Lowe had done, it was just time to shake up things. This also ties in with the fact that Buckner wants to streamline the story lines in True Blood Season 6 and beyond.

Many people have wondered why someone didn’t come up with the idea of glamoring Terry earlier on in the show, since he really only had a scene or two of being happy Terry before he died. Personally, this is what makes it more tragic. He was happy, he was ‘fixed’, yet he had no idea he needed to let Justin know the hit was off. When asked if vampires would make good therapists (being able to glamor the pain away and all), Lowe had this caution:

It’s a philosophical discussion. It seems kind of unethical, because if they erase part of your brain, it takes away a bit of your personality.

When it came to filming Terry’s demise, Todd Lowe had many reasons for finding the death scene challenging:

It was tough. I had an injury. I had injured my rotator cuff and I couldn’t really move my right arm too well. So I was in actual physical pain while having to do all this emotional pain. So I think it kind of helped.

Although, he was quick to add that Carrie Preston (who plays his wife, Arlene Fowler), was the one who really suffered through the scenes, all he had to do was lie there and play dead while Arlene was left having to deal with the untimely death of her spouse.

Speaking of, there are plenty of people in Bon Temps who are close to Terry Bellefleur: friends, colleagues, relatives. How will they be affected? It seems that Terry’s death will cause a ripple effect throughout Bon Temps. Lowe even suggesting this is why Terry died the way he did:

They’re going to have to deal with the funeral, and that’s a good plot device to bring people back to Bon Temps. And then if everybody is congregated in Bon Temps, hmm… what could happen?

So what happens when a long term character dies on True Blood? Is there a party, a send off of any type? It turns out there is, and Todd was very happy with his:

They surprised me with a red-velvet armadillo cake because my character has a pet armadillo. I don’t know who the baker was that made it, but it was incredibly realistic-looking. Unappetizing to the eye, but delicious.

R.I.P to True Blood’s Terry Bellefleur

R.I.P to True Blood's Terry Bellefleur (played by Todd Lowe)

Terry Bellefleur Will Be Sorely Missed:

We’ve been awaiting this episode for the entire season: the one in which one of our beloved True Blood characters dies.

And what a heart-wrenching way for it to occur – right after Terry (played by Todd Lowe) has the memory of his hideous war scars removed  via glamour. It seemed like such a good idea at the time, when Holly Cleary (Lauren Bowles) convinced Arlene Fowler (Carrie Preston) that her vampire buddy could remove all evidence of Terry’s traumas from his mind.

Except that was the point when us, the TV viewer, realised without a doubt, that Terry would be the Bon Temps regular we were about to lose.

So we watched, and we waited, for that fateful moment to occur.

And it did.

And it was just as sad and poignant as we expected. Rest In Peace Terry Bellefleur. At least you got to see the world from a happy place – even if it was only for a while…

True Blood Season 6: 5 Things You Didn’t Know About Terry Bellefleur

Todd Lowe Spills The Beans on Terry Bellefleur:

Todd Lowe stars as Terry Bellefleur in HBO's True Blood season 6Recently Todd Lowe spoke to WetPaint about True Blood’s Season 6. There were plenty of juicy titbits to bite into but I bet you didn’t know:

  • Terry and Arlene (Carrie Preston) will always have tough times ahead of them in HBO’s True Blood:

It’s never going to be simple times. We wouldn’t have good television, if it was. It would be a reality show.

  • Andy Bellefleur’s (Chris Bauer)  faery children will have an effect on Terry in Season 6 – whether this is a magical one or not is yet to be been! This impact will become more apparent in the second half of Season 6.
  • Terry still has unresolved residual feelings about killing Patrick (Scott Foley) in Season 5.
  • Speaking of Patrick – that Ifrit story line may just not be completely done with yet…it may be dead, but there is no simple life ahead for Terry.
  • Arlene is the best-looking redhead Terry has ever seen – and possibly she is the best thing for him too!

Todd Lowe Answers Fan Questions About Season 5:

Todd Lowe as Terry BellefleurRecently, Bon Temps’ resident Army vet answered some fan questions on Uinterview.com. One fan asked what he thinks is going to happen with Terry and Arlene‘s relationship. According to Lowe, while he can’t predict the future since that is up to the writers, he believes “in his heart that Terry loves Arlene and he’s going to hold her as close as he can.” Aww! That Terry is so sweet!

Another fan asked if Lowe has had to play Terry differently since he’s started a family with Arlene. Lowe indicates that since meeting Arlene and starting a family, the “storm in his mind” has passed, but “maybe we’re just in the eye of the hurricane.” Hmm, foreshadowing much? Watch the video below to see his answers to these and other fan questions!

Video: HBO Keeps True Blood Fans Eager For Season 5 with Teaser Clips

Waiting Sucks and HBO Keeps Fans Wanting More:

Season 5 poster RomanEarly in the life of its series True Blood, HBO hit upon the simple but clever tag line of ‘Waiting Sucks’. Now, as anticipation over the June 10th premiere of Season 5 grows, fans find that they ‘Crave More’. HBO has fueled the excitement with titillating teaser videos; some provide glimpses behind the scenes, while others are simply humorous promotion.

Two recently released teasers provide peeks into two separate story lines. Both videos give hints as to what to expect from characters and plot, while still managing to raise additional questions that make fans eager to tune in to the show.

One of these two recent videos features Sam (Sam Trammell) and Luna (Janina Gavankar). Sitting on a sofa, Luna cries while Sam tries to lend comfort. The dialog tells fans that someone has died mysteriously. An unexpected, unidentified sound captures their attention just as the scene ends on a menacing note. Who died? How did they die? Are Sam and Luna in danger, too? What was that sound?

What do you think?

Another recent teaser video has Terry (Todd Lowe) and Patrick (Scott Foley) being held at gunpoint and handcuffed. They know this person, but fans don’t – yet. The scene ends with the unknown character asking if anything had followed them there. Who is the new character? Why is he cuffing Patrick and Terry? What is it that might have followed them?

Any guesses?

HBO also uses humor in its teaser videos. ‘Don’t Cry, It’s Back’ uses bloody tears and scenes of character anguish to promote Season 5. The video is a montage of True Blood characters crying. The clips are assembled in a way that makes it seem they are sad over the lack of new True Blood episodes.

Which one is your favorite?

Scott Foley’s Top Secret True Blood Mission Does Not Involve Getting Naked

It Gets Physical, But It’s Not What You Think:

Scott Foley and Carrie Preston on True Blood New to the cast of HBO’s True Blood for the upcoming season 5 is Scott Foley (Felicity, Grey’s Anatomy). Foley plays Patrick, former platoon commander of Terry Bellefleur (Todd Lowe). The two embark on a storyline that has them tracking down former members of the platoon in order to resolve a mysterious event that took place in Iraq, and continues to haunt Terry.

Whatever that mission is, Foley says it does not involve nudity or sexual adventures for either Patrick or Terry. While the storyline requires a great deal of physicality – running, jumping and fighting – it’s all done completely clothed.

“Something happened between the two of them in Iraq that needs to be dealt with. I can’t say what it is. It has nothing to do with vampires or werewolves. But there is a mission that they need to complete.”

Scott Foley on True Blood - first lookFoley suspects that at least part of the reason he gets to keep his clothes on, is that both Patrick and Terry are completely human; not a common condition for characters in True Blood. Because of the large number of supernatural beings that are in the popular HBO show, Foley says that the first thing he’s asked when he discusses his role is what his character is. He assures us that Patrick is indeed, 100% human.

“I’m not a vampire, I’m not a werewolf, I’m not a werepanther, I’m not a fairy, I’m not a shapeshifter. I’m just a guy coming into town trying to finish something he started back in Iraq.”

What do you think, Trubies? What could this mysterious mission be? Just under two weeks until the Season 5 premiere!

True Blood’s Todd Lowe and The LA Hootenanny

A Truebie Encounter with Todd Lowe:

Our friend @ArleneFowler shares her recent experience with us:

This past week, I went to see Todd Lowe in ‘Day Drinkers’ at the Odyssey Theatre in LA, and was fortunate enough to catch him alone in the lobby after the show.  He was quite personable and graciously chatted with me and my friends.  In the course of the conversation, he told us he had a ‘gig’ that night.  Well, we already knew that and told him we planned to follow him to Villains Tavern on Palmetto Street where The LA Hootenanny would be playing on the first of a two-night ‘Dark Halloween Party’.

So off we went to make our way through some pretty bad traffic to a rather seedy part of downtown Los Angeles.  After getting lost a few times, and almost ready to give up, we stumbled upon a kind LA policeman who offered to escort us to the right street.  The stage is open-air, and we could hear Todd singing as we approached from several blocks away.

I must say that I didn’t expect Todd Lowe and The LA Hootenanny to be as good as they were.  They were wicked awesome!  Todd plays guitar and did most of the vocals; he was dressed for the occasion in a black Halloween jacket with pumpkins on the lapel and guess what… no zombie make-up!  The show was an absolute ‘hoot’.  Apparently the band consists of a revolving group of musicians but frankly, all I cared about was seeing Todd Lowe from True Blood.   (He’s almost as handsome as @TerryBellefle! *wink, wink*)

The whole evening was pretty awesome!  Being there for a Halloween party with Todd Lowe and The LA Hootenanny was a blast and a really good time.

True Blood Introduces New Character in Season 4 Finale

Scott Foley as “Patrick”, Terry’s Army Buddy:

Scott Foley, Patrick on HBO’s True Blood (Cliff Lipson/CBS)Todd LoweTerry Bellefleur on True Blood, has been acting with a creepy baby and creepy baby doll all season and he is looking forward to working with adults again. There will be a whole lot of drama going down between vampires, witches, shifters and werewolves this Sunday on the Season 4 finale. Somewhere in the middle of that we will be introduced to a new character, Patrick played by actor Scott Foley, an old army buddy of Terry’s.  Lowe explains why he [Patrick] is coming to Bon Temps now:

“He looked [Terry] up. He found him and I guess he has something to say and something to talk about. You don’t just wander in and find someone at their workplace unless you have something important to share with him.”

Their encounter will not be a long one, Lowe reveals, and from what he says above it will take place at Merlotte’s. Foley‘s character is expected to return in Season 5 in a more substantial role. Lowe hopes that this character’s entrance into the series means that True Blood’s audience will get to know more about Terry’s past, maybe see some flashbacks of his time in the war. Lowe said about Terry’s past:

“I’d like to see where his post-traumatic stress disorder came from. Was it a series of events? Was it a friend or life that was lost in front of him? Was it someone’s life that he took? I’d like to see where that goes and see why Terry is so screwed up… I have a feeling it’s going to go kind of dark. I got a hint from Alan Ball that we’re going to see a little darker side to Terry.”

The season finale will take place during Halloween. Lowe’s response to this spooky setting for the finale:

“Wouldn’t you think it’d be just a little bit anticlimactic with all this other stuff going on? But I guess the people of Bon Temps find a way to celebrate the Halloween Holiday.”

We are mere days away from the finale of Season 4, but what about Season 5 and all it will have in store for Terry Bellefleur? Are you exited to see Terry’s character grow and learn more about his past? Will the arrival of Patrick bring conflict to Terry’s life? Is it possible this old war buddy is a supernatural? Share you ideas and theories with us in the comments section below.

True Blood: Season 5 Actor Needed

Actor to Play a Military Character:

Todd Lowe as True Blood's Terry BellefleurWhile Season 4 has yet to start for True Blood, there is talk of a new character for the series. HBO is on the lookout for an actor to play a military friend of Terry Bellefleur (played by Todd Lowe).

It seems that this character may turn up as early as the Season 4 finale, but will stick around for quite some time into Season 5. The character appears to have played a major part in Terry’s life, having saved it twice before.

Now all we need to know is if this character will be human or not?

Fresh Spoilers for Season 4 from Alan Ball and Cast

Spoilers Galore! What to Expect From the Main Characters:

True Blood PaleyFest 2011Alan Ball and most of the True Blood cast were at PaleyFest 2011, spilling beans left and right.  If you’d like to remain in the dark and be surprised come June, please stop reading!

The scoop on Sookie: Only four episodes have been shot, but she’s already kissed two people.  Hint — neither one was Bill!  Ball assures us Sookie won’t be forgiving Bill any time soon.  Well, no one can blame her.  As you may recall, it was revealed last season that Bill was actually sent Sookie’s way by the Queen (Evan Rachel Wood).  He let Sookie get beat up so that he could heal her, by way of making her drink his blood, thus guaranteeing a bond between the two.  According to Ball: “The betrayal is so deep that I don’t think she sees a way back from that.  That’s why we need 17 seasons!”  In the meantime, Sookie’s learned a few things while cavorting with the fairies.  Just not how to control her “microwave fingers”.

What’s happening with Bill?  Last we saw, he and Queen Sophie-Anne were in full attack mode in mid-air.  The only thing Ball will say is, “There is a bite-off [between Bill and the Queen]. Things happen.  It’s not just the two of them involved”.  Hmm… cryptic, much?

And finally, the lowdown on Eric: to the delight of many, it’s been confirmed he will have amnesia.  How does it happen?  Why?  We don’t know the details, but here is Alexander Skarsgård‘s take:

“He messed with the wrong people, he’s definitely not stable.  He doesn’t know who he is anymore… Eric needs help.  There are a lot of friendly people in Bon Temps kind enough to help.  The powerful character he was is just gone.  He’s the polar opposite of who he used to be.  He’s just completely lost… and very vulnerable.”

The Merlotte’s Gang:

What is the deal with Arlene‘s baby?  Or, as Ball puts it, her “evil” baby?  Rene’s progeny will be born tout de suite, and Terry will become a loving, proud papa.  Says Carrie Preston (Arlene), “That problem grows exponentially”.

Where is Tara Mae?  Thankfully, we’ll find out soon enough.  The old Tara is back in Bon Temps, minus the long hair.  What can we expect from her? Rutina Wesley says, “She may find some happiness, but just for a bit… You’ll find out early on where she’s been”.

Ring ring, hookah, ring ring.  Lafayette‘s gentleman caller, Jesus, revealed himself to be a brujo (witch), and clearly, a spell has been cast.  Whether it’s a literal spell, or Lafayette is simply in love, we don’t know for sure.  But we are certainly looking forward to finding out.

Speaking of lovers, things are looking good for Jessica and Hoyt.  Well, to a degree.  They’ll be facing many obstacles, but at least they’ll be facing them together.  Or will they?  Remember Mrs. Fortenberry?  “Mom is awful”, says Jim Parrack.  The rest of the anti-vamp populace also adds to their problems.  However, according to Parrack, we need not despair.  “Jessica is the one,” he says.

Last but not least, we have Mr. Merlotte himself, Sam.  The poor guy hasn’t had much luck in the love department, but he’s being given another chance.  According to Trammell, “I get another shot.  I’m at bat again.  I think Sam will sober up.”  But leave it to Alan Ball to throw a wrench in things.  Concerning Sam’s sobriety, Ball says, “He can do that for one episode”.  Why would that be?  Ah, remember how Sam shot his brother?  That may come back to bite him in the butt.

As for the Rest of Bon Temps (And Its Environs):

Jason Stackhouse (Ryan Kwanten) was last seen in Hotshot, delivering a sweet, heartfelt speech.  Entrusted with the care of his werepanther girlfriend’s kin, we can only assume he’ll be doing his “Jason” best.  The only thing we’re going to get out of Kwanten is, “He should not be looking after an entire village of meth addicts — he’s Jason Stackhouse.”

While we’re on the subject of drugs, let’s talk about V — vampire blood.  Who’s it going to affect this season?  If you recall, Andy Bellefleur kept a vial of it, and curiosity’s going to get the better of him.  Oh, Andy.  What kind of mishaps are we going to see now?

Who’s rising from the dead?  Or is it the undead?  The final death?  Whichever one it is, the answer is no one.  We will, however, see Godric again, presumably by way of flashbacks.  Can you guess who else is back, but in the flesh?  The Vampire King of Mississippi, Russell Edgington.  Says Alan Ball, “We have definite plans to bring him back — and he’s gonna be pissed”.

Now for our favorite were, Alcide: Will he be hooking up with Sookie, or is he still not over Debbie?  As for Debbie, Manganiello says, “she’s still alive and at large, so you never know”.  We do know for certain, however, that Alcide will be spending time with Sookie.  Which is sure to set Debbie off.

A few last tidbits from Alan Ball: coming to the show will be “some new witches, new vampires, new humans, a new werewolf, and a child”, and in animal form, “a gator, a rattlesnake, and an attack owl”.

There you have it, folks.  Those are all the official spoilers we have for now, but rest assured we’ll keep them coming.  Who’s excited for Season 4?!

Cast Members Give Golden Tidbits about Season 4 at the HBO Golden Globes Party

Hot off the Press from the Golden Globes

Ryan Kwanten as Jason StackhouseOh Truebies, don’t you wish you could have been a fly on the wall at Sunday’s HBO Golden Globes Party? Well I can do you one better! On the heels of last night’s True Blood teaser, the King and Queen of TV scoop Michael Ausiello of TV Line and Kristen Dos Santos from E! have posted some very juicy True Blood tidbits!

Ausiello had the opportunity to catch up with Ryan Kwanten (Jason Stackhouse) and he asked the Aussie star about what we can expect for Jason this season. As fans may remember Jason was last seen being left in charge of the largely inbred werepanther community of Hotshot.  In true Jason fashion he took on the responsibility for his lady love Crystal Norris (Lindsay Pulsipher). But things aren’t exactly rosy between the couple as Kwanten reveals:

“[He is] dealing with the highs and lows of being in love [with Crystal.]…Jason in particular doesn’t seem to pick his female companions too well. Crystal turns out to be not what he was expecting. It’s a very rough road. Plus he’s also now a cop. And if anyone shouldn’t have a gun and shouldn’t have any sense of authority it’s Stackhouse.”

So not only does Jason have to deal with matters of the heart but he also has to follow through with what he started in terms of wanting to be a cop. Oh Jason! It sounds like season 4 will bring lots to think about for the male contingent of the Stackhouse family.

A New Evil?

Joe Manganiello (Alcide Herveaux) and Todd Lowe (Terry Bellefleur) were also on hand at the HBO party and spoke to Kristen Dos Santos about what the “Season of the Witch” will bring to fans this year. Although Todd wasn’t specific about it, he let slip to Kristen that there will be a “new presence” in the lives of Terry and Arlene (Carrie Preston).

Kristen then pressed Joe Manganiello for more information on this “presence” Todd alluded to. When she asked whether it was a baby or a monster, he gave her this answer:

“Both! Have you seen The Fly? It’s like that.”

The Fly huh? Now that we’ve seen the “nasty” little surprise from HBO and heard what some of the cast has had to say about season 4, what do you think the season is shaping up to be? Tell us in the comment section below!
