Besides the episode spoilers, Inside TV recently reported that Rutina Wesley had been hinting at conflict between all the supernatural characters on True Blood:

“When you’ve got shifters and werewolves and vampires and witches, there’s bound to be some tension. There’s going to be some craziness this season, and because her best friend is Sookie, Tara is going to get swept back into everything. But I can’t tell you whose side she’s going to be on.”

So all is not yet sweet between besties Tara and Sookie either. It will certainly be interesting to see how it all pans out.

True Blood Season Two Episode 5: Never Let Me Go

Eric meets his makerSookie connects with another telepath named Barry with interesting consequences, the Bellhop quits when Sookie’s questioning and imposing thoughts are too much for him to deal with. Barry’s reluctance to provide Sookie with any interaction suggests that there is something that he knows and does not wish to share in fear of the repercussions.

Bill, Eric and Sookie meet Stan and Isabel, vampires at the lair of the missing vampire, Godric. We learn the true reason of Eric’s need to find the missing vampire, Godric is Eric’s maker and so Eric feels a deep responsibility toward finding him. The fact that Godric is attractive doesn’t hurt either. Sookie decides to infiltrate the Light of Day group [Editor’s Note: Finally, proof that Sookie and Jason are related.  You just KNOW this is not going to go well!].

Jason steps up his game at the Light of Day boot camp proving that he is a fair and honorable leader. Cracks begin to show in the marriage of Steve and Sarah when Sarah (ahem) rewards Jason for his hard work.  [Editor’s Note: Jason Stackhouse, always the boytoy, never the bride].  After Tara requests the new “family” leave Sookie‘s house, the ever obsessive Maryann works her magic (yet again) on the staff of Merlotte‘s, but this time doesn’t throw a party – just to mix things up a little. The staff, under the influence of Maryann, begin to act hostile toward Tara leading her to decide that maybe having Maryann around is a good thing. Just to hammer home the “I’m not right in the head” quality of Maryann, when Tara wakes up, Maryann has cooked breakfast and lets Tara know that they will be moving out that morning – while dressed in Sookie’s dead grandmother’s clothing (bonus points to anyone who noticed that her hair was also done in the style of Sookie‘s grandmother).  [Editor’s Note: And she really needs to get her raggedy BUTT out of Gran’s chair!].

Episode 5 – Never Let Me Go Top 5

1. Eric being turned by a young man/boy vampire. It will be interesting to see if a young actor can pull off the maturity of a 100+ year old character.

2. Sookie passing “room service” in the hall whilst chasing Bellhop Barry. Priceless.

3. Sam and Daphne making lame sexual comparisons to Billiards, then copulating on the pool table.

4. Sarah comparing herself to Mary Magdalene before er… bathing Jason Stackhouse.

5. Lafayette asking Sam for his job back. A fantastic scene of realistic humble emotion.

What were your top 5 moments of “Never let me go”? Be sure to share in the comments.

Editor’s note: My top five (in reverse order i.e. 5 is best) were:

1. Jason helping the Lukinator over the fence.

2. The hissing fight between Arlene and Daphne over male control and Terry looking like his head was going to explode!

3. Eric‘s line, “Wherever I am, there will be women.” It was especially interesting because in modern times we don’t see Eric with a string of women following him around.

4. Lorena coming down the hall as Bill and Sookie are doing the wild thang.

5. Hoyt and Jessica sharing an evening on the phone and those CUTE jammies he’s wearing!  Comic books and TV, huh?  He’s going to be late for work tomorrow!  And did you SEE him stand up to Maxine??? Oh.. baby!  I can’t believe how lucky Jessica got first time out of the shoot.  And I’m really glad that Bill threw ‘room service’ out of the room.  Really, Jess should save herself for Hoyt!

Best Line: Sookie talking about infiltrating the “Fellowship of the Sun“: “I’ll be in and out in no time, easy peasy!”

Best Costume: A tie between Eric‘s Viking duds and Hoyt‘s jammies!

Best Cinematography: The shot of Lafayette looking back through the closing door at Sam.

Best Set: Hoyt‘s bedroom.  Did that look like a room a young man’s been in since age 8 or what?  All those things you never take down till you move out are there.

True Blood Season 2 Spoilers: More Tidbits from E!Online

293wolltrueblood071009E!Online’s Kristin is adding to the spoiler frenzy for tonight’s new episode of HBO‘ s True Blood [and you SOOOOOOOOO KNOW!!! she got to view season 2 episode 4 Shake and Fingerpop.]  Not only is there a Q&A with Deborah Ann Woll (Jessica Hamby), Sam Trammell (Sam Merlotte) but with the man himself: Alan Ball, True Blood’s writer and executive producer. To add to the suspense there are three spoiler videos for Episode 4 “Shake and Fingerpop” and if you haven’t seen it yet you can view it here.  Yes, I have said it before. It is a well planned plot to make us crazy…  Well, we had our break and we are definitely ready for some more.

First up: in the Q&A is Deborah Ann Woll (newbie vamp Jessica Hamby).  As Kristin points out, Jessica did not want to become a vamp and she is having a bit of an adjustment problem.

“Absolutely. It’s a whole new world. She has to deal with everything you have to deal with as a 17-year-old girl, and on top of that, she can kill people, which is maybe not such a good thing to add with a teenage temper.”

And as to having Bill Compton as a Dad [Editor’s Note: I have to add Vampire Bill is much better than Jessica’s human dad, NOT in the Vampire Bill, sexy kind of way but more in the functional father way.  Her dad was an abusive jerk; Bill is a much better dad.] She could not answer too much of the question but she did add this tidbit:

“It settles down as much as a father-daughter relationship ever does. Is that mysterious enough for you?”

Next up, Alan Ball answering questions about the genre of the show (if he had to classify it) along with Kristin’s questions on whether the core of the show will remain in Bon Temps.  As for genre, Alan Ball says:

We don’t have an actual sign in the writers room that reads, “It’s the emotions, stupid,” but we might as well. We feel like we have to keep these characters rooted in some sort of emotional reality because otherwise, it’s a parade of special effects and set pieces.”

On whether True Blood will remain grounded in Bon Temps [Editor’s Note: Ok I could be snarky here and say DUH but I won’t]:

“The show gets a little bigger in scope this year, but it always remains rooted in Bon Temps. That’s where Sookie lives, that’s where Bill lives, that’s where all our major characters live. They may go out of town for this reason or that reason, but they’ll always come home.”

Now what’s up for our favorite shapeshifter Sam Merlotte (Sam Trammell)?  Kristin asked Sam, “What’s up with Maryann (Michelle Forbes) and does Sam Merlotte get a girlfriend.  On the mysterious Maryann:

“I did. I knew Maryann; you’re going to find all of that out. A lot of Sam’s history is explored this year, and you find out how they know each other. My storyline this year is very much entwined with hers. She’s a very, very intense creature for Sam.

As for a girlfriend [we all saw Daphne getting ready for that warm night swim, along with the BIG claw marks on her back]:

“Yes, Sam has some new romance this year. And he’s got some other stuff going on this year. Sam really opens up this year. He becomes more vulnerable than he was in the past. He shares more of himself than he has.”

To finish up my part and to lead you into Kristin’s full E!Online article, I will leave you with Sam‘s response on his favorite scene shot this season:

“We did a scene recently that was so crazy. I don’t even know how to describe it. I don’t know how it’s going to come out, it’s just insane.”

True Blood Season 2 Spoiler: What happened to Lafayette?

MAJOR SPOILER DO NOT READ THIS ARTICLE IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO KNOW!! IF YOU HAVEN’T WATCHED THE SEASON PREMIERE OF TRUE BLOOD DO NOT READ ANY FURTHER.  OK YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!

Last night True Blood Season 2 returned with everyone wondering what happened to Lafayette.  Was he in the car with his foot hanging out or was it someone else?  Well after months of waiting and wondering the question was answered had hold on to your hats!  It wasn’t Lafayette.  It was Miss Jeanette, the fake voodoo witch doctor/ pharmacy worker who’s heart was ripped out of her chest and her body placed in the back of Andy Bellefleur‘s car.  So where is Lafayette?  We see in the next few scenes a dungeon where several people are chained by their necks to a post that rotates to allow each person to tend to their human activities .  As we look closely we see that Lafayette is one or the prisoners in this dungeon alive for now but for how long?

lafayette-reynold-true-blood

Michael Ausiello from ausiellofiles.ew.com interviewed Nelsan Ellis who plays the flamboyant fast-order cook on Alan Ball‘s hit HBO series True Blood and discusses with him what we will see happen with Lafayette and how long is he going to stick around.

Now that you’ve seen the season 2 premiere of True Blood, join me in a chorus of, “Hallelujah, Lafayette lives!” Although last November’s cliffhanger seemed to suggest that series creator Alan Ball was remaining faithful to Charlaine Harris’ books and sending Nelsan Ellis’ fierce, flamboyant alter ego to an early grave, Sunday’s debut confirmed what many fans had hoped: Ball decided to spare the wildly popular character. But why? In this exclusive interview, Ellis has the surprising answer to that question, as well as scoop on another possible detour Ball has up his sleeve — this one involving a deep connection between Lafayette and Alexander Skarsgard‘s Eric.

When you first signed on to the show, did Alan Ball assure you he would not be following the books when it came to this character?
NELSAN ELLIS: No, no no. When I first started it was only a one-year contract, so I thought I was a goner after the 12th episode. In fact, [Alan] didn’t tell me that he was bringing me back until after the table read for the [the season 1 finale]. He was like, ‘You know we’re not killing you, right?’ And I was like, “I didn’t know but thanks for telling me.

What was your reaction?
ELLIS: Thank you! I have a job for next season! That was my reaction.

Did he explain to you why he let Lafayette survive?
ELLIS: Not really. He just said he decided after the bar scene in [the pilot], but he didn’t tell me until the 12th episode. He didn’t really go into any detail as to why he decided to keep me — not to me anyway.

When did you realize the character was gaining a large following?
ELLIS: I’m beginning to realize it now. At first I didn’t. I am realizing more and more that people have seemed to respond well to Lafayette, much to my surprise.

Why are you surprised?
ELLIS: Well, because I would not know what to do with Lafayette or what to think about him.

Was it hard keeping his fate a secret during the hiatus?
ELLIS: It was hard. The question was asked every single day.

How will the experience of being locked in a dungeon and almost dying change Lafayette this season?
ELLIS: It certainly humbles him. It shows him there are some situations he just can’t get himself out of no matter how slick he is. He’s going to have to suffer the consequences of what he’s done. And I think he reflects back on his behavior and maybe for a second thinks about changing.

In an upcoming episode [SPOILER ALERT], Lafayette ingests a lot of Eric’s blood. The homoeroticism in that moment was off the charts. Was that something you were conscious of while shooting it?
ELLIS: I wasn’t. I know Alexander said that from his standpoint he thinks Eric is a little drawn to Lafayette. My intentions were that I was completely terrified of Eric and what he can do to me. As far as I know, I hated his guts. It’s funny what the camera picks up… Alan has been making jokes about me and Eric and what’s to come in the third season. I definitely think I’ll be one of his henchmen, but as far down the rabbit hole as that goes, I don’t know.

So we can assume that Lafayette does, in fact, survive to see a third season?
ELLIS: I think I’m back for the third season.

Do you think it’s possible for Lafayette to settle down and have a normal relationship with a guy?
ELLIS: I don’t know that his normal is the general norm for everybody. I don’t think he’ll ever be normal to everybody’s standards. I do hope though that the dude can find someone that he loves and that loves him back. Everybody should be capable of that — even Lafayette.
