Video: True Blood’s Todd Lowe on Terry and Season 5

Todd Lowe Answers Fan Questions About Season 5:

Todd Lowe as Terry BellefleurRecently, Bon Temps’ resident Army vet answered some fan questions on Uinterview.com. One fan asked what he thinks is going to happen with Terry and Arlene‘s relationship. According to Lowe, while he can’t predict the future since that is up to the writers, he believes “in his heart that Terry loves Arlene and he’s going to hold her as close as he can.” Aww! That Terry is so sweet!

Another fan asked if Lowe has had to play Terry differently since he’s started a family with Arlene. Lowe indicates that since meeting Arlene and starting a family, the “storm in his mind” has passed, but “maybe we’re just in the eye of the hurricane.” Hmm, foreshadowing much? Watch the video below to see his answers to these and other fan questions!

Video: True Blood’s Joe Manganiello Dishes on Magic Mike Co-Stars

Joe Manganiello Professes to Be Shirtless Poster Boy!

Joe Manganiello as a shirtless AlcideHey Trubies! I know if you like Joe Manganiello (who plays Alcide Herveaux on True Blood) as much as I do then you will love this video interview. PopSugar editor Lindsay Miller spoke with him on the red carpet for the Stuart House Benefit thrown by John Varvatos. Dishing on all the bare chests and his co-stars in his upcoming film, Magic Mike, he shares:

“I have had a lot of practice; in fact I think I’m the poster boy for it I would think at this point… They were all fine, I’m sure McConaughey certainly has had his share. Kevin Nash from the WWE, I mean that guy has spent the past 20 years running around in a Speedo in front of the cameras, so I think they were all right, everybody did all right… Channing Tatum is really down to earth, really funny, really cool, just a great guy. I love Channing and look forward to working with him again.”

Magic Mike is scheduled to hit theaters on June 29. Trubies, let us know what you think of the interview and if you plan on seeing the movie. You can let us know by commenting in the comment section below.

Video: Joe Manganiello on True Blood Season 5 and Love Life

Manganiello Talks Alcide and his Search for Love:

Joe Manganiello at Duracell event 2012 (credit Hollywood.com)To make the steadily approaching premiere of True Blood‘s fifth season even more exciting, Joe Manganiello dishes on what a large part Alcide Herveaux will play in the first six episodes. Gushing about a large character expansion, he says he’s worked more on Season 5 than he has in any of the prior seasons, stating that:

“The writers have given me some amazing stuff to play around with.”

Manganiello also mentions that Alcide’s actions will go much further than the character portrayal of Alcide in Charlaine Harris’s Sookie Stackhouse novels, both when it comes to action, and romance.

As for his personal life, this werewolf stud is on the prowl! After a devastating split from his fiancée Audra Marie in September 2011, the 35-year-old remains hopeful. Referring to the dating scene as “fun” and “exciting,” he’s enjoying taking his time, however, he’s ready to settle down should the “right situation” come along. He says he does want to be married with kids someday, but he’s waiting for the right woman. We wish him the best of luck finding the lucky girl!

Video: MTV Talks to True Blood Cast at the Golden Globes

Season 5 Looks To Shake Things Up!

Ryan Kwanten as Jason Stackhouse Recently, MTV got to speak to not one, but FOUR cast members from HBO’s True Blood! Ryan Kwanten, Janina Gavankar, Carrie Preston and Joe Manganiello were present, even though True Blood was overlooked for nominations this year. While there is a bit of a wait until Season 5 starts up, the stars were happy to drop a few snippets of information.

Ryan Kwanten hints at maturity developing in Jason Stackhouse, especially since Andy Bellefleur is not currently being the best Sheriff.

Janina Gavankar suggests nothing ever stays perfect in Bon Temps, so perhaps there will be more complications for the Luna/Sam Merlotte relationship? She hopes not:

“I will always have hope for Sam. They are meant to be. Nobody understands you like another shifter.”

Carrie Preston also suggests there will be trouble between Arlene Fowler and Terry Bellefleur — especially now that an old friend of Terry’s has arrived!

As for our fave werewolf, Alcide? Well, his is the quote of the clip:

“We’ve seen that he’s a sweet guy; we’ve seen that he’s the kind of guy that would be great in a relationship. I think that you’re going to be introduced to a side of him that’s going to slam you up against the wall and go for it.”

Really? I’d like to see that!

Make sure you check out the full video and let us know what you think will happen in Season 5.

Video: Joe Manganiello Reveals His Love for True Blood

Yorkshire Terriers, Love Squares, and Werewolves, Oh My!

Joe Manganiello as True Blood’s AlcideIn a recent interview, Emma Roberts, an Entertainment Reporter for MSN Entertainment, spoke with the statuesque Joe Manganiello about his role as Alcide Herveaux on HBO‘s True Blood.  At 6’5″ and 225 lbs, Manganiello is not only a beefy hunk of a man, but as Roberts notes, is charming and adorable.  When Alcide growls, Manganiello revealed that he’s channelling his 8 lb Yorkshire Terrier when Hercules (how effing sexy is a big man with a tiny dog named Hercules?) is threatened with the prospect of losing his pig-ear treat. If you weren’t swooning over Joe before, now would be a good time to start.

What Manganiello loves, and what audiences love about his role as Alcide, is what we love about dogs: “he’s very loyal, he has a big heart; no matter all the bad things that happen to him, he keeps coming back.”  And why does Alcide originally fall for Sookie?  She smells good.  (I wish he’d sniff me out!)

About the forming love square between his character, Sookie Stackhouse, Bill Compton and Eric Northman, Manganiello surmises,

“My character offers something very different to the other two vampire suitors – he can go out with Sookie during the day, take her to tea, go to the beach. So they can do other things in the daylight that the others can’t.”

He adds that vampires can be “savage and duplicitous.” Whereas werewolves can also be savage, “Alcide in particular has a very strong moral code which isn’t necessarily present in the other characters on the show.”  He articulates that Alcide has fallen for Sookie because she has a spunk, an energy of light; when he’s forced to take her into the underground world of werewolves in Season 3, he feels inclined to protect her and those feelings never disappear.

Video: Interview with the Multi-talented Janina Gavankar

The Music/Info-geek and Tech-nerd Talks About Her Career:

Janina Gavankar as LunaThe multi-talented and very beautiful Janina Gavankar (Luna Garza) was recently interviewed by the Screen Actors Guild Foundation’s National Director Zino Macaluso about her True Blood role and social media/technology.

The tech-mogul / actress / musician was classically trained in music before falling in love with acting in high school.  In college Gavankar majored in Theater Performance and minored in Music Psychology.  She loves to continue using music as a performance medium and was involved in Kanye West’s “Love Lock Down.”  Her first paying gig was in a bank commercial for Mellon Bank and from there, her resume is lengthy.  Before True Blood, she played a major role in Showtime’s The L-Word (starting in the 4th season, like True Blood) as Papi and in the unfortunately short-lived show, The Gates.

She said the most exciting thing, or the thing she loves the most about True Blood are the amazing writers and table-reads.  She gets pumped about the awesome writing.  When everyone sits down to read an episode together, she compares the excitement to an audience watching the episode for the first time.  She also said that because she’s spent so much time in Shreveport, Louisiana she was able to create a rather lengthy mental back story for her TB character Luna.

Outside of her major work, she’s done a lot of social media work.  She has launched a new website for new actors, she maintains a fan page on Facebook and JaninaGavankar.com and is constantly tweeting from @janina.  She also claims to have been the first actor on Twitter, joining back in 2006 when “everyone still hated the word tweeting.”  Her advice to everyone in the social media world is to “be authentic… The YouTube generation can tell when you’re faking it.”  Also, this writer’s personal favorite Internet clip of Gavankar and mentioned in the interview, comes from Funny or Die called “Method Shapeshifting with Marshall Allman.”  Check it out, it’s hilarious.

Below is the full interview, so if you want to watch a full hour of her bubbly self, feel free. Let us know what you think in the comments!

Video: Janina Gavankar’s Wish for True Blood Season 5

Gavankar Interviewed at the 2011 Emmys:

Janina Gavankar HBO promo S4The lovely and seemingly fearless actress who plays shifter Luna Garza on HBO’s True Blood, Janina Gavankar, was interviewed by PopSugarTV at the 2011 Emmys. She admitted that before getting cast, she was not a Truebie! The horror! However, it wasn’t because she didn’t like the show — she simply had never watched it. After getting cast, she promptly devoured seasons 1-3, and obviously fell in love. Who hasn’t?

She explained what it was like to work with such a young co-star (Chloe Noelle, who plays Luna’s daughter, Emma), saying that it was both a pleasure and interesting to see how the little one learned her lines, as she was just learning to read.

So, what does Gavankar want to see during Season 5 of True Blood? Some ass-kicking, naturally. She explains quite candidly:

“I want to see the shifters kick some ass. Come on! You know, I think that Sam has a nice girl that’s going to stand by him, I want to see them join together and show people what shifters are made of.” (As she turns to the camera with a saucy look.)

Actor/comedian Chris Rock walked up during the interview to introduce himself and say he’s a fan of True Blood, which Gavankar says was the highlight of her night. Check out the full interview below:

Video: Kristin Bauer van Straten Talks True Blood’s Finale

The Actress Shares Her Favorite Pam Line:

Kristin as Pam S4 Ep11Kristin Bauer van Straten, Pam de Beaufort to her Truebie fans, was interviewed for TV Guide’s Up Close.  Topics included were: what are Pam’s favorite things, what is Kristin’s favorite Pam quote from the finale (Hint: it was probably your favorite line too, about Sookie‘s fairy-parts,) will Pam and Sookie ever get along, the difficulty of face-rotting, and her best impression of Stephen Moyer‘s pronunciation (à la Elvis) of Anna Paquin‘s character’s name.

Video: Denis O’Hare of True Blood Shocked by Finale

O’Hare Did Not Know About Nan, Tara or Jesus:

Denis O’Hare as King Russell EdgingtonApparently Denis O’Hare was just as shocked as the rest of us at the “bloodbath” which was Season Four’s finale.  In his interview with PopSugarTV he compared the episode to the end of Hamlet — the famed Shakespearean tragedy in which everyone dies at the end.

When asked about the return of his character, PopSugarTV noted the changing power dynamics occurring in the vampire community.  Where will Russell fit in?  O’Hare said:

“He’s a very flexible character, obviously. He’s lived for 2800 years — he’s very good at sussing out where the political winds are blowing. I think he could go with anybody. He’s really the loner, not necessarily a joiner, but I could see him joining forces with whoever is capable. If Bill or Eric want to come on board, I’m sure that he could find an amenable situation. The Authority’s got an opening, so he could take that…”

The Authority opening that he referenced was of course, the (un)fortunate True Death to Nan.  O’Hare went on to say how shocked he was about the death of Rutina Wesley‘s character, Tara Thornton and Kevin Alejandro‘s Jesus.

Beyond that, we’ll all just have to wait the eight months and watch what happens in Season 5 for the epic return of O’Hare’s Russell Edgington.

So, Truebies, who do you think let the King out of his cement grave? Any guesses? Share them with us below!

Video: Ryan Kwanten’s New Quirky, Indie, Aussie Film

On Griff the Invisible and True Blood Season 4:

Ryan Kwanten HBO Promo S4Genevieve Loh interviewed Ryan Kwanten about his role in the new indie film Griff the Invisible and his True Blood character, Jason Stackhouse, for the Singapore-based digital news show, Today.  About the film, Kwanten said, “It was the kind of story I felt needed to be told.”  The film is Australian-written and directed, but that’s not the reason for  this sexy Aussie’s participation. “That character really felt like he represented different parts of me… I’m very much sort of an introverted heart.”  He was pleased that the humor of the film was culturally transcendent, noting that it was well-received by a German audience despite the common problems that tend to arise between languages and was hopeful that a similar opinion would form with Singaporeans.

It appears that Kwanten enjoyed working on the quirky, superhero-romance because “there’s more to play within the indie world” than the more formulaic, studio-based movies that come out of Hollywood.  “The writing is more raw,” and “I like playing sort of tortured characters.”

Beyond the scope of his new indie flick, Kwanten commented a little bit on his fourth season of True Blood.  He said that his favorite co-star to work with was Chris Bauer’s Sheriff Andy Bellefleur because, as he put it, “in real life [Chris] is a big kid in an adult body.”  Because Jason Stackhouse is well-known for his lack of thoughtfulness, the combination of the two actors together on set is quite fun, according to Kwanten.

Finally, Twitter queries about his physique arose during the interview.  After watching his copious nude and shirtless scenes over the past four seasons of True Blood, it is not surprising that the public wants to know how he stays in shape.  Other than genetic blessings, he says that he doesn’t adhere to any wild diets or have any surprising exercise tips.  He thanks a combination of running, boxing and yoga for his lick-able hipbone muscle-lines.  All in all, Kwanten is an intelligent, grounded, and ambitious individual… qualities his character on True Blood does not share, but that will probably come through in his new role in Griff the Invisible.

Video: Skarsgård on Eric in Season 5 of True Blood

The Actor Contemplates How Eric Should Be:

Skarsgård (Eric on True Blood) in Straw DogsMTV recently caught up with True Blood’s Alexander Skarsgård (Eric Northman) at the screening for his latest film, Straw Dogs.  Skarsgård was looking dapper as always, while sporting a mini-bouffant, which suits him quite well! He was asked how he wants to see his character during Season 5, whether he’d like to see Eric still heartbroken due to Sookie breaking up with him, or not.  He replies that he doesn’t really know… he does, however, think that just because Eric is “back”, it doesn’t mean he’s the same old Eric:

“Old Eric is back, but it’s not like the old Eric, because he still remembers the love with Sookie, and those moments — and that changed him.”

We learn that Alan Ball and the writers are already hard at work writing the scripts for Season 5 (squee!), and we already knew from Janina Gavankar here that filming begins in November (double squee!), so hopefully waiting will suck less this time around, what with all this excitement, and sure-to-come news and spoilers!

Check out the video, Truebies, and tell us how you’d like to see Eric next season!

Video: Bauer and Manganiello Talk True Blood With CNN

iReport Questions Answered:

Joe Manganiello and Kristin Bauer van Straten talk to CNNRecently Kristin Bauer van Straten and Joe Manganiello answered some iReport viewer questions for CNN. Here is what they had to say:

Zennie Abraham asked “Why is True Blood so popular?”

Kristin was quick to answer this one. While the show is based around fantasy characters, the central themes are common with the real life struggles the average person deals with everyday. She uses tolerance of vampires as an example. While we don’t have that particular problem in real life, we do have issues with certain groups not being tolerant of others.

Nicole Correale asked Joe: “If you had control over a whole season of True Blood and you could write whatever you wanted into the script , in what direction would you take Alcide?”

Joe hinted at the fact that Alan Ball may be following book 5 of the Sookie Stackhouse series (written by Charlaine Harris) in leading Alcide towards his struggle to become packmaster. Joe would also like to follow in this direction, to see Alcide overcome his feelings of being cursed as a werewolf.

Video: Stephen Moyer Spills on Season 5 — Spoilers!

Vampire Bill shares Spoilers for Season 5:

Stephen Moyer as True Blood’s Bill ComptonMTV recently interviewed Stephen Moyer (the handsome Brit who plays vampire Bill Compton on HBO’s True Blood) at the junket for his latest movie, The Caller. When asked for Bon Temps Spoilers Moyer said:

“I know there is going to be an omnipresent power in season five. I know what it is. I think we could be heading towards an even greater season.”

Sounds marvelous! What could this “omnipresent power” be? More witches? Fairies? Another Supe? Will Jesus fly down to Bon Temps and decide he can’t miss all the fun? Wait, Moyer has more to say about the coming season:

“If they go where they’re going, it will be amazing and upset a lot of people, which is what we like.”

Great! Nine months of these teasers! How are we going to cope? After Sunday’s incredible finale (with the most cliffhangers in True Blood finale history) we have plenty to ponder. Stephen Moyer’s statement just adds more questions to our ever-growing list. It’s going to be a long nine months.

Watch the video, and share your theories, questions, and ideas about season five in the comments section below. Who knows? Maybe Alan Ball will stumble across our page and get some ideas from us!
