True Blood 3.11 “Fresh Blood” Review

Anna Paquin, True Blood, Sookie StackhouseEven in a fictional world like Bon Temps, things never seem to go as people hope or plan. “Fresh Blood,” the penultimate episode in True Blood‘s third season, showed every character trying to fulfill their wishes and finding that reality doesn’t always live up.

Bill & Sookie fantasize about a new beginning

After sensing her fear, Bill busts into Fangtasia looking for Sookie. Eric has already left, but Pam is keeping guard. Always the levelheaded vampire, she explains, “This is not just about your relationship, you infatuated tween. There’s a bigger picture.” When reason doesn’t work, she uses water with silver particles, sprayed right into Bill’s face. Down in the basement, Sookie is released by Yvetta, muttering about Eric, “Big, blond, stupid–I hate.” When they get upstairs, Pam has burned Bill’s eyes out with the spray. Sookie pulls her off with a silver chain. After Pam admits that Sookie was to be a gift for Russell, Sookie leaves to take care of Bill, while Yvetta restrains Pam and then takes the cash from behind the bar before departing. (Talk about a woman scorned…)

In the car, Bill tries to impress upon Sookie all the bad things Eric has done, but she tells him that she’s having a hard time trusting either one of them (understandably). Bill accuses her of having feelings for Eric, which she denies, although she acknowledges that she saw a different side of Eric on the roof with Godric. Bill wants Sookie to believe that they can have a fresh start. They imagine what that life would be like–they’d be happily married, she a real estate agent and he a 3rd grade teacher; they’d grow flowers and vegetables in a garden, go on double dates with Arlene and Terry, etc. It’s a nice fantasy, but obviously it fixes nothing because their real life could never be like that.

Jesus: A literal Satan in a proverbial Sunday hat?

Whereas Lafayette is reeling from their V trip, Jesus seems a little overeager to tap into that power again. Lafayette turns to face him and for a second, Jesus’ face transforms into a horned demon. Lafayette is understandably freaked out. He plays it off like he’s experiencing a weird after-effect from the V, but he makes Jesus leave for the first time in days. Later, he wakes up to find the spiritual figures in his shrine dancing and speaking to him. I’m confused as to what’s happening…

Jason’s disillusionment

After learning that Crystal is a werepanther, Jason has trouble coping: “My brains feel like scrambled eggs. I got my ass chewed by a vampire, my sister’s missing–” “Oh, poor you!” Crystal interrupts. “All I gotta do is marry my half-brother and let him breed me ’til I’m old or dead!” She really puts things in perspective for Jason. He goes to look for Sookie and clear his head. He ends up at the Bon Temps High School football field. The young hotshot quarterback, Kitch, is throwing balls to his friends. As Jason watches him, he realizes that Kitch has some superhuman abilities, side effects of V. He confronts Kitch for being a cheater, breaking the law, and being a disgrace to athleticism. He threatens to turn him in, but discovers to his dismay that Kitch’s coach and parents are encouraging him to use vampire blood. Times have changed, and it may not be right or fair, but Jason can’t hold the world around him to the standard he wants. It’s this that sends him back to Crystal. He knows that he loves her, occasional panther or no, and he’d rather be with her than facing this crazy world alone.

Can Jessica have her love and drink it, too?

Jessica and Hoyt have one brief scene, and it might have been the best one of the entire episode. They are both so profoundly happy to be back together. It’s a sign of how much Jessica has matured that she doesn’t hold anything back from him, even though he gives her any easy excuse to keep it hidden with his “Don’t know, don’t care” line. She admits that she accidentally drained someone to death, and that the TruBlood diet doesn’t work for her: “This is what you think you love. This is what I really am. I tried, but I can’t live on TruBlood–I drink human blood. And I’m not gonna stop.” Hoyt thinks it over, leans back, and says, “Drink me.” She bites his neck, and he pulls her into a passionate embrace.

For now, it looks like Jessica might be the only one to have her wish actually come true, that she can be with the man she loves and have him accept her. I could foresee a potential issue, however. As we’ve seen with Bill and Sookie, blood is an important part of the human-vampire relationship, but Bill has only ever drunk from Sookie to enhance their sexual experiences or when he needed to heal. He never viewed her as “food.” Hoyt might not like it so much if Jessica seems to be using him as a blood bag. We shall see. Jessica also has Maxine Fortenberry working against her, who it turns out was pushing Summer towards Hoyt to get his mind off the dead girl: “That redheaded bloodsucker put a spell on him.” Summer cries that she’ll never get over her “Bear,” but Maxine says it’s not over yet.

Tara & Sam share grief and comfort

Tara’s sadness over Eggs has been reawakened by the knowledge of what really happened. She cries over his grave and then goes to confront Andy Bellefleur. I’m not sure what she was hoping to gain by telling Andy that she was in on his secret–obviously she wanted to make him feel bad about himself, as if that would alleviate some of her pain. But when he opens up to her about the torment and regret he’s been feeling, Tara’s hard attitude softens, and then she doesn’t know who to blame. She finds a kindred spirit in Sam, who has fallen into a black hole of misery and alcohol. In a drunken rage, he insults Terry, Arlene, and every single person in the bar. The worst part is what he says to Tommy, firing him and kicking him out of the rental house: “I’m sick of you! It’s over now.” Sam is tired of being trampled on because everyone thinks he’s such a nice guy. Tara isn’t scared of this angry side of him because she can relate–she’s got a reputation for losing her temper and blowing up at people. Both Sam and Tara just want to be able to be themselves, to feel what they’re feeling and express it. Once they find this common ground, they end up back in Sam’s trailer having sex. And just like the last time they did this, it’s for the wrong reasons and still doesn’t make them a good match for each other.

Arlene goes fishing for an abortion

Arlene asks for Holly‘s help in getting rid of the baby she’s so afraid of. I suppose the nature vs. nurture argument would be lost on Arlene, but she seems decided that Rene‘s evil nature would overcome Terry’s nurturing love one day. She doesn’t want an abortion, per se, but she wants Holly to work her Wiccan mojo to kill her pregnancy. Holly invokes the spirit of the “Great Mother” and gives Arlene an herbal tea. That night, she dreams that she’s fishing, being called by her mom, when Terry shakes her awake because there’s blood on the sheets. She assumes that she’s lost the baby, and you can tell she’s relieved, while trying to comfort Terry. Except, the doctor comes in and tells her the baby’s fine and she just needs some rest. Arlene is probably going to be even more afraid of her baby than ever, like it’s bound and determined to be born and bring darkness into the world.

Eric, Russell, and the ultimate vampire dream: daywalking

Eric seeks out Russell, knowing that he must intrigue the King enough so that won’t be killed immediately. Russell asks him why Talbot had to die, and Eric reveals his quest for revenge. Russell laughs, “My, my. To lose the one man I ever loved because you miss your mommy and daddy? Well, that is a kick in the pants…Life is absurd. Still, I’m excited to destroy you.” Eric then makes his proposal: “I can offer you the sun.” Russell is enticed by the idea of getting past the greatest vampire weakness. If daywalking were really possible, he’d be invincible. Pam calls Eric to tell him that Bill and Sookie escaped, so Eric and Russell intercept them on the road. With one hand, the King is able to turn Sookie’s car up on its end.

When they all arrive back at Fangtasia, Eric provokes Bill into a fight to get him alone without the King and let him in on the plan. They need to convince Russell that Sookie’s part-fairy blood is powerful enough to let him walk in the sun, even though the effect is only temporary. This is the first Sookie hears of that, and she immediately accuses Bill of lying to her. I do not like when she jumps to conclusions without thinking them through–how many times has Bill saved her life?!

Pam: Love thy Maker

Pam and Eric have a touching goodbye before he prepares to sacrifice himself to kill Russell. “You know I love you more when you’re cruel and heartless.” She nods and stays strong so that the plan can work. Then Eric and Russell drink Sookie’s blood as Bill watches, helpless and upset. Eric walks outside, amazed to see the sunlight. He waves at Russell on the surveillance camera, before he walks farther into the parking lot where the steam rising from his body will be less visible. Russell begins to cry with joy: “My hands are shaking. I feel like a little child! Thousands of years of night…” He goes out and cringes in anticipation of the burning. When it doesn’t come, he walks over to Eric praising the glorious sun. The Viking turns, revealing the burns on his face, and handcuffs Russell to his wrist, kneeling down to await death with his greatest enemy ever. Pam watches with tears streaming down her face.

Sadly, Truebies, we now have 2 weeks to wait for the season finale because of Labor Day weekend. But sound off on your thoughts and theories about this episode!

I wonder what is going to happen with Lala selling the V? Eric only had him selling it on QSA’s behalf. He is no longer loyal to her. I do not think Eric actually supports the selling of V. Since, vamp blood is sacred.

I also wonder if Bud will be back.

Nancy

Hello Trubies, I am so sad that we only have 1 episode left. But for now I’m enjoying every minute. I was a little bummed out that Alcide wasn’t part of this episode again. I’m hoping he shows up during the last episode and helps Sookie save Eric. Pam has to realize that she needs to let Bill go so that he can give Sookie his blood. Sookie is the only one that can walk in the sunlight and save Eric. I’m sure after this stressful time Sookie will take a break from all men. She needs it. I’m already anxious for Season 4 to start. The next 9 months are going to be torture!

Oh another thing is Godric has pointy ears but so does his child so maybe Godric is part fae/vampire and is there a possibility that Eric could have that bloodline in him from Godric and Godrics maker and so on. Pam is also part of that bloodline.
HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM.
The mind has to wonder about this.

    Troobie

I actually rewatched the episode where Eric was made, and it is only Godric’s hair that has him looking like he has pointy ears. There is quite a clear shot of Godric’s ear when he is crouching over Eric, and his ear is definitely round. So, it is (barely) possible that Godric will be a fairy, but that fairies will have round ears, or, more likely, that Godric is not fairy.

      Sandy

We had toyed with the idea of part Fae as theory in general (anyone else? could they be turned? etc) don’t know if you saw the threads. His tats had to be done in life that’s for sure which would show exactly when he was alive.

      Cheers

Hello Truebies you know of course Im going to sound off on this episode. Im hoping Godric appears to Eric and saves him or maybe Bill will get lose drink some of Sookie then go out and him and Eric will kick RE’s ass.
Maybe Claudine will appear to Sookie and give her strength to kick some ass.
Sooo many possibilities but we just have to see what will happen in two weeks for the finale.
Yvetta is probably some human just scorned . She may get involved with The Fellowship of the Sun! I know I didnt forget about that little anti supes cult.
Tara should give up on relationships for a while and get right with herself. Poor gal gets hurt everytime. Maybe Sam will be right for her.
Sam has a dark past that haunts him making him fly off the handle he had no right to be a jerk to any of his crew at Merlottes and the customers.
I have a feeling Crystal is going to lead poor Jason into a trap with Felton turning him into a werepanther.
What is Maxine Fortenberry up to with Summer? I also hope they dont hurt Jessica. Hoyt and Jess are so sweet together.
If Sookie ever recovers from all this she should take a break from everyone and choose herself.
The season is almost done which sucks because I want more please AB give us a droplet of whats to come.
Waiting SUCKS. I want S4. But I have to wait which sucks!!!!!

Hi Sandy,

Several months ago I saw the spoiler pics with Godric. It looked like he was wearing the same clothing as when he met the true death. I really like your theory that Godric could be fae. I hope that Godric’s spirit really does appear to Eric (and that it’s not a hallucination). Out of curiosity, I would like to know where Godric went when he died ( if he’s fae maybe Summerland?). At some point, I hope we get to see a flashback of Godric/Eric soon after Eric was turned. (I liked the way Godric looked ). AB mentioned that at some point Gran might reappear.

Eric is supposed to have doubts about killing Russell. Maybe, Godric tells him that revenge isn’t the answer. Really, I think Russell and Eric are even. Russell is to brilliant to kill off. I also felt terrible for Russell. Maybe some of the Nazi weres are witches. Yvetta would be a good Hallow though.

I agree with you Sandy. I didn’t see anger in Eric’s eyes after the kiss. He seemed shocked by his feelings. We all know that Eric likes to be in control of things. However, he does not have much control over his feelings for Sookie. I doubt Eric has ever been in love.

Sandy

This episode was very moving IMHO. Starting with the scene in the museum with Eric and KoM was touching, when Russell corrects his “tenses” to talk of Talbot in the past tense – his pain was palpable, visible yet subtle.

Wonders myself, as others have here if Yvetta doesnt turn out to be Hallow – she certainly feels she has a reason to be vindictive.

All the fight scenes were fantastic – especially Pam v. Bill and the fake fight of Bill v. Eric.

Surely, it wasnt just me (but noticeably absent in the review – which was excellent as always btw) that if there was ever a time that Eric wished Sookie’s telepathic abilities worked with Vampires it was right before he had to bite her.

It was the most honest show of affection he’s had that didnt have a wall up IMHO, that Eric really showed he cared way to much for Sookie. It was right when he knew he had to hurt her to save them all. He didnt just caress her before biting her (for the 1st time too) he continued to do so as he bit into her neck with his hand on her hair. (Sookie couldnt be let in on the plan before hand or it would have alerted Russell that something was up when she pretended to be afraid or didnt seem afraid at all – there fore she *had* to be kept in the dark so Russell could meet the sun. Pun not intended but wth).

Yes, I am an Eric ‘shipper but not immune to Bill when he shows emotion – the same goes naturally when I see it in Eric. That small gesture in the short time showed more of how he felt about her than any other interaction they’ve had. Not even the real “Puss Puss” they shared, although you could see it in his eyes – he was blown away from kissing her. (although others thought he was angry she pulled away, idk how, he looked stunned, his feelings were confirmed but not upset at all)
Surely, I am not the only one to see that in his eyes?!

Sunday’s episode also showed why it has always made me cringe when it’s been suggested Pam and Eric would make a good couple as I see them as a Father and Daughter or even Brother and Sister but not lovers. The scene when he kissed her forehead only reinforced that their relationship is anything but romantic.

Russell – again a scene stealer when he wept tears of joy and proclaimed he felt like a little child. My heart went out to him and felt terrible for what was about to happen. Despite how much of a danger he is to them – it would be better to simply have him as their ally rather than a foe.

Eric wasnt/isnt planning on dieing so not sure what he intends to do but my son caught what looked like Godric surrounded by light and in the air above Eric and the KoM when they showed the 1st clips from the finale – I have not seen that again but it was clearly Godric. My son pointed him out instantly. (maybe wrong, maybe a vision or something else entirely)

The theory that one of our dear vamps is Fae – is it possible that it’s Godric? ( and who was Godric’s maker one wonders). He even had the pointed ears when he turned Eric if I remember correctly.

Can’t wait to hear everyone’s opinion here. This is my favourite part of the site and I always look forward to the discussions that follow. With an extra week to wait and the bitter-sweet fact that the finale is the next TB episode – I take solace in the fun it is to discuss the episodes with my fellow Truebies!

Cheers

Sandy/Caitlin, I really liked this episode and I agree with your assessments here.

I absolutely loved the emotion and caring concern Eric had with Sookie before he bit her. You could tell by the look on his face and his eyes, that he really didn’t want to do it this way, didn’t want to hurt her. He swallowed 3 times before Russell took the reigns and bit into Sookie first. Eric was gentle with Sookie trying to soothe her while biting her. I also think those kisses affected Eric more than he even thought possible. I also don’t think Eric was upset that Sookie pulled away last week. It was clear to me by the look on his face that he was stunned and astonished that he could feel the way he did. Alex is a brilliant actor and I love how he can convey emotion with his eyes, a tilt of his head and his facial expressions. I loved the fact that Eric and Bill could work together. Unfortunately, as you said, they could not let Sookie in on the plan. They needed her true emotions to make this plan work. As much as Bill didn’t want to see Sookie bitten by Russell or Eric, he knew that this was a good plan and had to be implemented for both humans and vampires alike. I still think Bill and Eric will work something out in the last episode together. I also think Sookie will rescind both their invitations like in the book and try to move on without either vamp, enter Alcide who I think will try to move in on Sookie after all of this is over.

I so loved Pam in this episode. She would do anything to protect Eric, her maker. I loved the tender scene with Eric and Pam, Eric trying to comfort and reassure Pam it would all be ok even as he had no idea of the outcome of all of this himself. I think Eric had a real breakthrough with many emotions in this episode.

This daywalking thing is an interesting concept and not from the books which I think is an added plus. Good writing on this one.

Yes, Yvetta is a woman scorned. I still think she will cast some type of spell on Eric as revenge or maybe she did cast the spell (heart’s desire) as she thought she would be Eric’s heart’s desire and it turned out to be Sookie. We’ll have to wait and see on this one for next season. Stay tuned. LOL.

Poor Jess, she has no idea what Maxine Fotenberry has in store for her. She just can’t let it go. She and Summer (annoying girl) will devise some plot. I just hope Jess doesn’t die in the next episode at their hands. I do adore Jess so much. Her and Hoyt are cute together.

I applaude Terry. He will make a great Dad to the baby. I just hope the baby isn’t a demon child.

I’m not sure I’m liking the direction Sam is going. I know he has a checkered past and was on his own since he was 15 and had the will to survive via hook or by crook but I’m not liking the “new” Sam. Sam was always the good guy, stable. He’s going through some heavy stuff right now. I just hope he can work through all of this and become the good guy again. I’d hate to see him turn like the Mickens or worse. Maybe Tara and Sam can work out their issues together.

Laf and his V trip after shocks are a little strange. I wonder if his gift is he can see the bad things in someone’s life. He saw a glimpse of Jesus with a mask on, next week he’ll see a vision of Arlene being strangled by Rene’, and it looks like he sees blood on Sam’s hands, probably because he killed that couple in the past. Interesting take on this. Can’t wait to see where this goes.

I think Jason will go to Hotshot and Felton will kidnap him (bookies know this story). I just hope Crystal isn’t setting Jason up after he told her he loves her. Crystal is bad news.

So sad that we are down to the last episode and have to wait 2 weeks to see it. This season went much, much too quickly.

AB and writers, please throw us a bone and show some snippets throughout the long 9 month wait. We just can’t bear going through it again. 🙁

      ~ Caitlin

      Hi jaxx,

I agree with your comments. Good theory on Laffy. It makes sense that he can see peoples bad sides. He has always had a good read on people. I still think Jesus might be or turn into a bady. The daywalking is interesting. I loved the look of astonishment on Eric’s face when he emerged into the light.

It’s possible that Yvetta is a witch. Yvetta took the cash and ran. Maybe, she is just a regular person. She would be a good Hallow.

Also, I really hope that Jessica doesn’t meet the final death. It will be depply upsetting. She still has so much to learn. I think AB and Anna mentioned that they like surprising deaths. Possibly, in this finally there will be a shocking death. Just my opinion. Maybe Maxine will try to kill Jess and Hoyt will get in the way. Then, Jess would change Hoyt. Something, goes wrong with the change and Hoyt becomes like (Baba). Perhaps, Tommy will die. That would be cruel to Sam though.

I agree that something is going to happen to Jason. I do feel bad for Crystal. However, I wish Jason would stay away from her. We know what joy Crystal brings to Jason’s life in the books. She seems nicer in the show though. I like Calvin a lot more in the books.

I’m sure Sookie will rescind Bill/Eric’s invitations.

I don’t know what is going to happen with that baby? If Arlene does have the baby, she would have to be pregnant for many seasons. I think after so many seasons that would get old.

It’s going to be difficult to wait another year for season of the witches. I don’t know when book 11 (Dead Letters) will be released?

        jaxx

**SPOILER** Not to get off topic, but CH always releases her books the first Tuesday in May. I’m wondering if Dead Letters is going to be letters she finds from Gran in the attic that tell the “fae” story since Sookie still doesn’t really know how or why this happened and can’t ask Gran now since she’s gone. She only knows very little. I think we’ll find out a lot we don’t know as well. I wonder if these letters also tell of Sookie’s parent’s true death too. Well, enough with the books.

Yes, Season 4 and the year of witches. I wonder if they will do the witch war from the books. Wonder how much of book 4 they will use next season. It was my favorite of the series. I think AB and crew did a pretty good job this year interpreting the books. Hope they do an equally good job next season with book 4. There is a lot going on in that book and a some new characters and some returning favorites too. I hope Chow comes back since he plays a part in book 4 too.

We’ll have to wait and see.

          ~ Caitlin

          Hello again jaxx,

          ****SPOILER****

I was wondering what the title meant. Your theory sounds interesting. Also, breaking of the “blood bond” is supposed to be explored. Personally, I want the bond to be broken.

Also, I hope they skip ahead a couple months in the next season. This way Sookie will get a break from all the drama. I also really like book 4. I’m sure the war will be better in the show. I felt it was to short in the books. It’s odd that Chow hasn’t been around. He is the bouncer. I’m happy Ginger is back on the show. However, I do feel sorry for Ginger. We know the amnesia storyline will be in next season. Most likely, Jason’s Hotshot storyline will a part of next season. I wonder if we’ll get to see Claude?

          jaxx

Hi Caitlin, **SPOILER** I, too, want the blood bond broken. This way we will know once and for all is it the blood or something more. I’m split on this issue, I think it’s something more for Eric, but not sure about Sookie, she’s was so wishy washy throughout book 10 about everything.

Yes, we need to meet Claude as well in S4. Remember when Sookie posed with Claude for the book cover, too funny. Claude is a character for sure.

The year of the witch will certainly be interesting as well as the year of the werepanther.

          ~ Caitlin

          *****SPOILER******
          Hi yet again jaxx,

I would be so po’d if she only liked him because of the “blood bond”. It took forever for them to really get together. I believe that she really cares about him. I do get what you mean about the 10th book. The entire book was odd. I liked it but was a little disappointed. It seemed more like a filler book.

P.S. Sorry I know were not really supposed to talk about the books.

      Sandy

I can see the show ending with her rescinding both of their invitations. Sookie was always pleased with herself for doing that in the books (can’t remember which book she had done that in at the end). It put a smile on her face to see them both have no control for once and be pulled out her door! An excellent ending and an excellent way to make a point.

If I was in her shoes I know I would do the same thing – tell them both *enough* get out!!

In fact as someone else mentioned that they hope the next season opens with a few months passing by – giving her time to think and get herself and her home in order. Realistically – who could keep doing all that without a break? Sure vampire blood heals the body but not the soul and she needs some major soul searching/healing emotionally. Who the heck would not?

One of my favorite books was the Vampire conference in Rhodes. It was one of the better tales, sweet yet scary and action packed. I think that plot would translate very well to the screen and in true AB style – there are so many ways to play it.

What I would really like to see happen in future seasons is keeping the various characters story-lines down – don’t get me wrong I love all the characters – but they are so much more fun when they are all together. That was the beauty of season 2 – while the Maryann/Maenad dragged out as we all seem to agree – she was a great tie in for what was going on in Bon Temps. Rather than feeling like to many stories are being crammed into each episode it allowed them to interact in a meaningful way while our dear vamps and Sookie were in Dallas. I love Jason when he is protecting his sister. That is when he really comes alive story wise.

      Cheers
      Sandy

        jaxx

I agree Sandy. I loved this season mostly so far but if I had to critique anything it would be too many plots going on. If we concentrate on witches, they may do the witch war that involve a lot of the central characters. Still think Tara could be a witch also or Laf for that matter. There is something magical in that family, even Franklin told Tara that.

Yes a couple months break would be good for Sookie. Let her heal her mental/emotional wounds as well as her physical ones. I think in the books, this story ended in early December and then picked up again on New Year’s Eve/Day, about 6 weeks. That would be about right. She needs to be by herself for a while to regroup.

And yes, the vamp conference in Rhodes was one of my top 3 storylines. Lots of action and interesting new and old characters. Hoping the series goes there after S4. Hopefully there will be an S5 and S6. We still have to meet Quinn and his crazy family and Mr. Cataildes and the other fae and the half demons, lol. Can’t wait.

          Sandy

I suspect we have met Mr Catalides. Curious if anyone could make out what his button said?

          Cheers
          Sandy

          ~ Caitlin

          Hi jaxx and Sandy,

I also agree with both of you. I love this season. However, next season I hope there is not as many storylines. This season skipped back in forth a lot. Yes, I would like to see the characters together more. I would be nice to see more Sookie/ Jason together. Also, Sookie hasn’t really had many scenes with Sam.

Hopefully, they do skip a couple months so Sookie can regroup. Plus, this would be good for the Arlene pregnancy storyline. I don’t want Arlene to be pregnant for 9+ seasons. They can’t have it be summer forever on the show.

          ****SPOILER******

I think it would be neat if they could somehow film the Luxor hotel in Vegas for Rhodes. I remember Rhodes was a pyramid hotel. The Rhodes storyline was really good. There was a lot going on in the book. Eric/Sookie had some really good scenes in that book. I’m thinking that QSA won’t die this season. Jaxx I think last week you mentioned that Mr. Catalidas was the (will guy). I’m not ready for Quinn just yet. Sookie/Eric need their two minutes together.

    Sheila

Hey Sandy, what an interesting thought. I would have never seen that comming in a million years. I did see other things, but Godric being Fae and Vamp? But you do indeed bring up an interesting thought. Yes, his ears were indeed pointed in that scene when they flashed back to when Eric was made. I would venture to say that perhaps Sookie and Godric may have had a connection that has not been explored if that is the case. OOOh, wouldn’t that just be the pandora’s box to open. Maybe that was part of why Sookie had to go be with Godric as he met the true death, on some subconcious level they had a connection that she wasn’t aware of yet, and because of that, she has a bond to Eric even though she doesn’t fully understand why yet, for that matter Eric doesn’t even know why he is so smitten with Sookie but we know he is, and she is going through the same issues, maybe that is kinda why Eric and Sookie have this fatal kinda thing, we already were told that when Vamp’s get together it usually doesn’t end well, they tend to burn out, maybe Sookie and Eric have a similar kind of connection that hasn’t been fully explained. For that matter how exactly would she explain that to Bill ?, What exactly would she say? One has to wonder. “Oh by the way Bill, just FYI Godric was part fae & Vamp, and Eric’s maker, so we kinda have a bigger blood bond so deal with it,? that would be all too strange to try to explain, but this should be interesting none the less.

I’ve always wondered why Godric, while vampire had a very clear set of morals still that varied from those around him regardless of their age.

Godric was different and that can be really cool to explore.
Age (suspect even Eric doesnt know Godric’s real age – was he ever more specific than over 2000yrs)?, wisdom, evolving – Godric thought differently and he always has even at his most vile it would seem he never seemed to be into the sport of it. (i.e. Lorena)
      Just a warrior.

We watch entirely to much history channel here too. AB was quoted recently as saying stories from history inspire him, specifically watching The History Channel US I’m sure.

What comes to mind for me when thinking of Godric’s mentality – I think of great warriors like Alexander the Great. Cities are still named after that ancient conqueror. The Greek meaning of the name is “defender of man”

          Hi Sandy,

I really like your theory about Godric. If this theory is true Godric could be in even more of the show besides just flashbacks. I wish they would do a minisode of Godrics past. I know he was some type of Gladiator or slave. In life he was treated deplorably. Thankfully, AB didn’t go with Eric’s maker from the books. I love that Eric’s maker looks like a child. I didn’t expect that last season. Especially, I liked that Godric asked Eric for his permission before he turned him. Not that Eric was completely coherent at that point. Nevertheless, I respected Godric for respecting Eric as a human. More Godric please!

Sorry, I just had one more thought. Couldn’t Russell have ripped off the handcuff? He tipped Sookie’s car. Also, he wrapped the Magister in silver chains when he saved Pam.

Older vampires are supposed to be MORE affected by sunlight and younger ones generally last longer. So, it makes sense that Eric, who is 1/3 Russel’s age, would be stronger (less weak?) in the sun.

I’m a little on the fence about this episode. I didn’t absolutely love it but I didn’t hate it either.

It was so beautiful when Eric said goodbye to Pam. This was the the first time he said that he “loved” someone. This is the second time that Eric was willing to sacrifice himself in the sun. It seems like Eric hallucinates Godric in the finally. What if it is really Godric’s spirit? I’m guessing Sookie will save Eric. I loved the scene with Eric/Russell in the museum. The ringtone was so random and funny. As always, Denis was brilliant. Notice that Eric didn’t completely want to drink from Sookie.

Finally, Bill and Eric were able to work together. The scene between Bill/Sookie in the car was a lovely dream.

I think Russell might live. It would be a treat to see him in future seasons.

I felt so afwul for Tommy. He did deserve to be told off. However, Sam was to hard on him. Probably, Sam will regret his words to Tommy. Especially, after Tommy takes all his money. I wonder if something bad is going to happen to Tommy? Sam’s drunken tirade was entertaining. I prefer kind Sam.

The scene between Jessica and Hoyt was sweet. I’m glad she told the truth. I’m a little worried about Jessica feeding on Hoyt though. Also, I am concerned for Jessica. I just hope Hoyts Mama doesn’t try to do something harmful to Jessica.

I don’t get what was up with the talking voodoo dolls when Lala was on the V trip. Once again the theory of masks comes into play. This time Jesus had on a mask. Looks like a demon? Maybe the more Jesus delves into his families history the more evil will be unleashed. Hence the saying,”it’s better to let sleeping dogs lie”. What is going to happen with Lala?

If Yvetta is a cardiologist, then why is she working at Fangtasia? She got her revenge.

What is up with Arlene’s baby? If Terry raised that baby, I think it would turn out fine. However if the baby turns out evil, it could be because of Arlene’s racist views. Rene hated vampires. Arlene hates vampires.

Seriously, Sookie needs a little break from vampires.

Yvetta said she was a cardiologist back home. It’s a statement on how immigrants coming with skills can’t get them recognised in the US.

Eric is such a great schemer!
