True Blood Season 6: Who Will Die? Top 10 List

July 17, 2013

TrueBloodNet’s Season 6 Predictions:

HBO's True Blood: Season 6 promo posterThe hottest question in relation to HBO’s True Blood Season 6 at the moment is ‘Who’s going to die?’ This is quite often followed up with ‘When are they going to die?’ Considering the fact that Episode 7 was originally titled The Funeral, many people are predicting we will lose someone dear to the True Blood family this Sunday (July 21st).

There have been plenty of rumors – so what’s fact and what’s fiction? Certainly nothing can be set in stone as fact when it comes to the rumor mill, but there can be some educated assumptions that can be made based on what has been said by the cast and crew of True Blood surrounding this imminent death.

While Brian Buckner confirmed before the season started that there will be the death of a major character in True Blood Season 6, it is still open to debate over how major that character will be. Lauren Bowles (who plays Holly Cleary) has stated that it will NOT be Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin), Chris Bauer let it slip on premiere night that it could possibly be a human that bites the dust.

These two snippets of information have not been confirmed or denied by HBO, yet the fact that they came from True Blood cast, suggest there may be some truth to it. Although, once again, based on that assumption, Rutger Hauer should be Warlow and not Ben (Robert Kazinsky)!

Also, it’s probably safe to assume that Ben, Niall (Rutger Hauer), Governor Burrell (Arliss Howard) or any of the cast that joined True Blood in Season 6, will not die since these characters cannot be considered major characters yet. And in the case of Governor Burrell, he’s the bad guy and will, no doubt, die anyway. So, to be safe, my list will be broken up into two lists: Vampires vs. Humans

Top 5: Humans

Nelsan Ellis stars as Lafayette Reynolds in HBO's True Blood Season 6

  1. Lafayette (Nelsan Ellis).  Poor Lafayette ended Episode 5, F*ck the Pain Away, in quite a predicament, having been possessed by the ghost of Sookie’s dead father, and attempting to finish off drowning Sookie rather than have her marry Ben. I can certainly see either Ben or Bill coming to Sookie’s aid and killing Lafayette before realising he’d been possessed.
  2. Jason Stackhouse (Ryan Kwanten). Ryan Kwanten was one of the first people to speak out about the upcoming death in True Blood Season 6 – and this ALWAYS makes me twitchy! This is also why Joe Manganiello, Todd Lowe and Chris Bauer make the list. Fans tend to connect emotionally to the actors who speak about such big announcements  – was that HBO’s intention when allowing these actors to talk about it?  Add into the mix the fact that Anna Camp (Sarah Newlin) recently commented that she’s “had sad read-throughs” and the only person I could imagine she would have feelings for is Jason. Jason’s decision to join the LAVTF is certainly a way to put his life at risk as well.
  3. Ginger (Tara Buck). While not really considered a major character, Ginger has been with us through the entire True Blood journey and many would argue has quite a cult following, being affectionately being refered to as ‘Ginger the Screamer’. Currently, her location is unknown to the audience after she tried delaying tactics for Eric so he could escape the Governor’s clutches. While Ginger has made the list, I would be disappointed if HBO took the soft option of killing off a recurring character rather than a major one.Chris Bauer stars as Andy Bellefleur in HBO True Blood Season 6
  4. Andy Bellefleur (Chris Bauer). We’ve seen a bit of Andy this season haven’t we? He’s got quite a storyline happening and people seem to be interviewing him left right and center. Are HBO pushing Chris Bauer into the spotlight to make us care more about his character before killing him off? Oh, and wasn’t his obligation to Maurella to raise at least TWO fairy children to adulthood? While technically he did, the fae kingdom (if there is anyone left) may see differently.
  5. Terry Bellefleur (Todd Lowe). So Terry wants to die – seems like a good way to kill off a character. Especially if something happens to him that makes him want to live but is then unable to contact his hitman, Justin…

Top 5: Vampires/Supernaturals

  1. Tara Thornton (Rutina Wesley). So lots of people have voiced their opinion over the ages about how annoying they find Tara. This would be another soft option (in my opinion), but certainly a plausible one considering that Tara is now stuck in Vamp Camp and determined to save her maker – will she pay the ultimate price for love?Stephen Moyer stars as Bill/Billith in HBO's True Blood Season 6
  2. Bill/Billith (Stephen Moyer). Once again we are presented with a character that draws polar opinions and now that Bill has become Bilith, public opinion appears to be more anti-Bill than ever. Also, Billith is also now considered one of the baddies, and we all know what happens to the bad guys in True Blood
  3. Pam (Kristin Bauer van Straten). So Pam and Eric are trapped in a room – Gladiator-style – with nothing but a couple of stakes to set them free. Could Pam finally meet the true death?
  4. Alcide Herveaux (Joe Manganiello)In True Blood Season 6, Alcide has gone from the kind but girlfriend-challenged werewolf to nasty alpha-male over night. Many fans are either hating him for changing so dramatically or starting to worry because it is now putting him very close to the ‘bad guy’ category. Many fans are also finding the werewolf/shifter storyline quite boring this year, which could put the life of Alcide in jeopardy.
  5. Alexander Skarsgard stars as Eric Northman in HBO's True Blood Season 6Eric Northman (Alexander Skarsgard). With all the rumors flying earlier in the year about Eric being the major character death, I have added his name to the list, but I really doubt HBO would go the full Monty and kill off their most enthusiastic fan base. Or would they? Afterall, this is the same network that bought us Game of Thrones and the gut-wrenching red wedding episode…

So, what do you think Truebies? Who do you think will meet their maker in True Blood’s Season 6? Let us know in the comments below!

True Blood Season 6 Half Way Finished-Where Will the Next Episode Take Us?:

True Blood's Alexander Skarsgard and Kristin Bauer van Straten

True Blood/HBO/John P. Johnson

We are half way through Season 6 of HBO’s hit show True Blood, and things just keep heating up!  The war between vampires and humans continues to escalate, while love and loyalties will continue to be tested.  We know that a major character is supposed to die in Season 6, and that it is to happen around the half way point, could Episode 6 be the ending for one our beloved characters?

HBO has released the details of Episode 6 of True Blood:

Bill (Stephen Moyer) decides to seek out Lillith (Jessica Clark) for advice on handling the escalating human-vampire crisis. Eric (Alexander Skarsgård), Pam (Kristin Bauer van Straten), Nora (Lucy Griffiths), Jason (Ryan Kwanten) and Jessica (Deborah Ann Woll) get up-close-and-personal looks at the perverse perils of Vamp Camp. Sam (Sam Trammell) comes to a decision he hopes will be in Emma’s (Chloe Noelle) best interest. Andy (Chris Bauer) gives his faerie daughter a name, or two or three or four. Arlene (Carrie Preston) has a solution to Terry’s (Todd Lowe) malaise, and Eric makes a startling discovery”.

This episode is written by Daniel Kenneth and Directed by Howard Deutch.

I can’t help but notice that the main character Sookie Stackhouse(Anna Paquin) and Lafayette Reynolds(Nelsan Ellis) are not mentioned in the Press Release, when we last saw these two Layfayette’s body had been taken over by Sookie’s deceased father, who was trying to drown Sookie…I wonder if this storyline could be the major death plot line…Guess we will have to just wait and see!

Episode 6 aires this Sunday July 21 on HBO at 9:00pm ET/PT.

True Blood Quickie: True Blood Season 6 Episode 5 “F*ck the Pain Away” Recap

July 15, 2013

Alexander Skarsgard stars as Eric Northman in HBO's True Blood Season 6, Episode 5, entitled 'F*ck the Pain Away'What did you think of HBO’s True Blood Season 6, Episode 5, entitled F*ck the Pain Away? While I found there were moments of daytime television and bad lesbian prison porn, over all, I think this is my fave episode for Season 6 so far.

What went down:

  • WTF?! Sookie’s (Anna Paquin) parents tried to kill her? Really Warlow (Robert Kazinsky), I don’t believe your lies!
  • Oh, so NOW Jessica (Deborah Ann Woll) is high…and remains so (with great hilarity) throughout Episode 5
  • Billith (Stephen Moyer) steals Benlow thanks to maker magic
  • Andy (Chris Bauer) finds his fae-girls – and only one of them survives. With the help of some vamper blood, Andy is able to revive her and discover Billith’s plan to save the vampires evil plotAndy Bellefleur (Chris Bauer) saves one of his fae-girls in HBO's True Blood Season 6, Episode 5, entitled 'F*ck the Pain Away"
  • Eric (Alexander Skarsgard) and Tara (Rutina Wesley) surrender in order to break Pam (Kristin Bauer van Straten) out of prison. This plan will only work if Willa (Amelia Rose Blaire) has convinced her daddy, Governor Burrell (Arliss Howard), that vampires are humans too. Oops, guess Eric didn’t get that memo…
  • Sarah Newlin (Anna Camp) is a typical small town, narrow minded lady-dog who just likes to meddle in the lives of others. And when she can’t convince Burrell to marry her, she moves on to Jason Stackhouse (Ryan Kwanten). When Jessica arrives on the scene, all fairy-blood high and claiming that Billith may not be god, but the devil instead, Sarah has her arrested – but not before there is a daytime television, lesbian-fuelled, bible-off
  • NOTE TO HBO: How can Sarah Newlin rescind Jessica’s invitation into Jason’s house?
  • We find out the nuts and bolts (but mainly the nuts when Warlow gets naked) of the Warlow and Lilith (Jessica Clarke) backstory – which gets a bit weird when Lilith’s face becomes Billith’s and we are reminded of the shaving scene between Jason and Ben in Episode 4
  • HBO are crap at making guys look hot with long-haired wigs
  • Alcide (Joe Manganiello) is just a small wolf trying to pee in a large pond
  • NOTE TO ALCIDE: don’t disown your daddy because later on (as according to the almighty laws of TV) he will be the one who finds Sam (Sam Trammell) and Emma (Chloe Noelle)
  • The werewolf storyline is boring
  • Vamp camp is really just bad lesbian prison porn a lab rat version of The Hunger Games, what with it’s reaping number system and gladiator pit and all…
  • Pam goes into therapy. Since she is new at having to discuss her feelings and all that crap, she should probably be forgiven for ending up in the aforementioned gladiator pit with her ex-maker after claiming she has no feelings towards him. Probably… but I will save my decision until the outcome of Episode 6Pam (Kristin Bauer van Straten) goes into therapy in HBO's True Blood Season 6, Episode 5, entitled 'F*ck the Pain Away'
  • Terry (Todd Lowe) hires an old mate, Justin, to kill him
  • Sookie hires Lafayette (Nelsan Ellis) to make contact with her dead parents and it turns out Benlow was right – her daddy, at least, was trying to kill her in order to save her from becoming a vampire-fairy hybrid. And YAY, Lafayette FINALLY gets his own storyline in Season 6!
  • Maybe Benlow isn’t nasty, maybe he’s just lonely since he’s the only one of his kind…
  • Sam is a tool, not only for being callous to Nicole (Jurnee Smollett-Bell) after she tries to phone her parents and let them know she’s alive, but for forgetting that Luna (Janina Gavankar) has only just died…
  • The shifter story is boring
  • Jason joins up with the LAVTF in an attempt to save Jessica
  • Lafayette gets possessed by Sookie’s dad and tries to finish off what he started all those years ago…
  • Billith is nearly as good at mimicking Lilith as Lafayette is at being Corbett (Sookie’s dad)
  • Sarah and Steve Newlin (Michael McMillian) join forces again to present the Gov. with the ultimate Hunger Games event: The Eric vs. Pam Stake Off!
Eric (Alexander Skarsgard) and Pam (Kristin Bauer van Straten) have a stake off in HBO's True Blood Season 6, Episode 5, entitled 'F*ck the Pain Away'

Wolf Pack Scoop from Jamie Gray Hyder on True Blood Season 6:

July 6, 2013

Jamie Gray Hyder on True Blood Season 6: Alcide as Packmaster and Being part of the Wolf Pack

Alcide and Danielle via TrueBlood Online

Jamie Gray Hyder, who portrays werewolf Danielle on HBO’s True Blood, is having a really good time on her second season of True Blood. She talks about Danielle’s role in the wolf pack:

I think as her role on the show has increased so has her role in the pack. I think that she’s very much an opportunist. Last season, she was willing to do V and also other stuff to impress the pack leader who was in power. And, now there’s a new pack leader and she’s vying for his attention. I think that she just wants to go along and be part of what’s going on and prove that she’s a viable asset to the pack.

Hyder concedes Danielle will ingratiate herself with Alcide (Joe Manganiello), the new Packmaster:

I think [she’s] going to continue to do whatever [she] can to appear valuable to him and the dynamics of everybody kinda changes throughout the season as we continue.

In episode 2, Alcide and the wolf pack abduct Emma from Sam Merlotte (Sam Trammell), and they have an all-out fight, knocking out Sam and Layfayette (Nelsan Ellis) (who was babysitting Emma). As humans have declared war on vampires, does this fight signal another war between werewolves and shapeshifters? Hyder weighs in:

Definitely. I think that we have just opened up a whole can of worms with what happened. In taking Emma, we’ve now involving [sic] a whole other group of people in our lives and in the pack. There’s so much drama going on in the town that I think that a big issue for us was that choice.

You’ll just have to see how the season plays out because it’s definitely now causing a lot more people to interact with us. And we probably should keep to ourselves, but Emma’s a wolf and we feel that it’s important that she’s with us and her grandmother and with the pack.

Alcide was more than a little bit scary in the way he abducted Emma, throwing her over his shoulder while she screamed for help. Is he a totally different person now that he’s Packmaster? Hyder shares her viewpoint on Alcide:

I think [that being Packmaster] requires him to step up and show a little more aggression than usual to assert himself. And, in the case of Emma, we went to Sam’s with a mission and we knew we had to leave with her. We really do feel that she’s safest with us. So, even though Alcide’s aggression is there, it’s simply there to help others.

Hyder feels that because Emma is a wolf, she really should be part of that lifestyle, and Sam is not an appropriate caregiver for Emma.  So what does Hyder think about the wolves getting involved in the state of Louisiana’s war on vampires?

I think that we’re trying to keep to ourselves as best as possible. We’re trying to look out for our own, but there’s no doubt that with such a big conflict going on in Bon Temps and in the State of Louisiana that we’ll be able to stay out of the conflict.

The drama is getting bigger and better with the wolves and the shapeshifters, it’s not all about the vampires anymore! Viewers are looking forward to more supernatural drama in the rest of the season of True Blood.

True Blood’s Season 6 Premiere Kicked Off In a Big Way:

True Blood Season 6 Cast Live from the Set

True Blood Season 6 Cast/HBO/Live From the Set

For those of you who may have missed the live social media event hosted by HBO prior to the Season 6 True Blood Premiere, HBO has posted all the Q&A’s on their HBO Connect website!  For the first time ever our favourite cast members appeared live on the set of Fangtasia to answer fans burning questions.  True Blood’s Season 6 is sure to come with many ups and downs…check out some of my favourite questions, and hit the link to the HBO site for full Q&A details! Or you can check out the actual You Tube video if you have 15 minutes to burn!

Q (For all cast members): Without giving too much away are there any scenes in Season Six that made you cry in real life?

A): This is a season that takes its toll on the humans for sure.

Q(For Alex) 1st Season Eric was evil, then amnesia Eric wasn’t – do you think THIS SEASON’s Eric is a nice mix of the both, or more evil?

A): I’d say the old Eric is pretty much back. But the Amnesia changed him fundamentally, and he’ll always carry that experience within.

Q): Who does the best impression of other characters on True Blood?

A): Chris Bauer: Without a doubt the best mimic on our set, and in my opinion most underrated actor, is Sammy Trammell. If anyone wants to have a conversation with Alexander Skarsgard, and he can’t be there, just have Sam imitate him instead. It’s uncanny.

True Blood Season 6 Premiere Party: What’s on the Menu?

June 12, 2013

Get Inspired With These Easy (But Bloody) True Blood-Inspired Ideas:

True Blood CookbookThere are only a few days dragging by until June 16th and the Season 6 premiere of HBO’s True Blood. While #WaitingSucks, it also gives you the opportunity to get your premiere party sorted ahead of time.

Normally I reserve gran’s pecan pie recipe for the finale, so I can cry along like Sookie (Anna Paquin) did in Season 1, but there are plenty of other ideas to whet every truebie’s appetite!

For starters there are a couple of great recipe books out dedicated entirely to True Blood-inspired cuisine:

True Blood Drinks & Bites is the newest recipe book on the market, but there is also True Blood: Eats, Drinks, and Bites from Bon Temps. NotQuiteNigella.com also offers a sumptuous spread that will moisten your creative juices. Heck, even Charlaine Harris offers a recipe for the infamous Chocolate Cake that Caroline Bellefleur makes for special occasions in the Southern Vampire Mysteries books (the series which inspired HBO’s True Blood.) You can find that recipe (along with several more) in Harris’ The Sookie Stackhouse Companion.

While all these recipes are awesome, there are still plenty of creative ideas left to inspire your True Blood premiere party.

  • Hello my name is TalbotWhy not use Talbot (Theo Alexander) as inspiration and make jello or fruit punch in a crystal candy jar? If you have any gummi body part treats or chocolate eyeballs left over from Halloween, even better.
  • Speaking of Talbot – remember when he served blood as soup? Tomato soup would be great, but, as an alternative, why not try chilled beetroot soup?
  • Layfayette (Nelsan Ellis) is known for his special burger recipe at Merlotte’s. While burgers are unwieldy at a party, why not make Lafayette meat balls? Dunking little wooden toothpicks in red food colouring (bloody stakes) completes the ensemble.
  • Hot dogs dipped in plenty of tomato sauce (using more bloody stakes of course) – say hello to Billith!
  • Of course, thanks to the emergence of all the fairies in Bon Temps in Season 5, why not serve the kindergarten classic: fairy bread?
  • When thinking of True Blood inspired food, it’s a MUST to serve red velvet cupcakes. (Well that’s my excuse anyway!) But why not #ShowYourFangs and add some candy teeth to the top? Or, alternatively, try some bloody splatters of red food colouring thickened with corn syrup.
  • Did you know that you can purchase food grade plastic syringes (without the needle top, of course)? These can be filled with Tru Blood jello shots and left in a bowl (or you can re-use Talbot if everyone has finished with the fruit punch).
  • Did the jello shots make you thirsty? Well, the classic Tequila Sunrise goes perfectly with Arlene’s (Carrie Preston) hair.
  • STILL thirsty? My fave Tru Blood cocktail involves Tru blood, vodka, triple sec and lemon juice. At Club Fangtasia, they call that a Plasmapolitan!

Have you got any other suggestions? Let me know by commenting below!

Kevin Alejandro Misses True Blood, But Finds The Golden Boy Success:

April 26, 2013

Fans Miss Jesus but Can Still Enjoy Kevin Alejandro’s Work in Two Exciting Projects

We loved Kevin Alejandro as Jesus Velasquez in HBO’s True Blood. His chemistry with Nelsan Ellis (Lafayette Reynolds) was delightful to watch, and his death left us saddened. While Mr. Alejandro’s return to True Blood was short-lived, we’re lucky that we get to see him each week as Christian Arroyo in ‘The Golden Boy’. Hopefully, his Kickstarter campaign will eventually achieve its funding goal and the superhero series, ‘The Keepers’, will make it into production.

Mr. Alejandro misses his fellow cast members from True Blood. He says that he and Mr. Ellis developed a genuine affection and friendship that translated to the screen. He auditioned for the part of Jesus several times, as the show runners searched for an actor who worked well with Mr. Ellis. Mr. Alejandro says that he has great respect for all of the actors in the True Blood cast. They take their work seriously, but once the cameras stop rolling, they know how to have a good time.

When he made his brief return to True Blood, Mr. Alejandro had just completed production of the pilot for ‘The Golden Boy’. When asked what attracted him to the role of Christian Arroyo, his answer was that the character was unlike any he had played before. The challenge is in making Christian likeable. Mr. Alejandro says this character is the most different from him, and contains less ‘Kevin’ than any part he’s played before.

While Mr. Alejandro’s Kickstarter project, “The Keepers’, didn’t reach its $30,000.00 funding goal by April 14th, we can hope that the balance of the required funding will be found somehow. This superhero based show was created by friends of Mr. Alejandro. They created a two-minute trailer to generate interest, and continue to try to secure funding.

If the writers of True Blood can find a way to bring Jesus back, Mr. Alejandro would be happy to return, and we’d be equally thrilled to have him.
