Video: Skarsgård on Eric in Season 5 of True Blood

The Actor Contemplates How Eric Should Be:

Skarsgård (Eric on True Blood) in Straw DogsMTV recently caught up with True Blood’s Alexander Skarsgård (Eric Northman) at the screening for his latest film, Straw Dogs.  Skarsgård was looking dapper as always, while sporting a mini-bouffant, which suits him quite well! He was asked how he wants to see his character during Season 5, whether he’d like to see Eric still heartbroken due to Sookie breaking up with him, or not.  He replies that he doesn’t really know… he does, however, think that just because Eric is “back”, it doesn’t mean he’s the same old Eric:

“Old Eric is back, but it’s not like the old Eric, because he still remembers the love with Sookie, and those moments — and that changed him.”

We learn that Alan Ball and the writers are already hard at work writing the scripts for Season 5 (squee!), and we already knew from Janina Gavankar here that filming begins in November (double squee!), so hopefully waiting will suck less this time around, what with all this excitement, and sure-to-come news and spoilers!

Check out the video, Truebies, and tell us how you’d like to see Eric next season!

True Blood Season 5 News – Wesley is Terrified!

Rutina Wesley Season 4 screen testRutina Wesley, the Julliard-educated actress who plays Tara Thornton on HBO’s True Blood was interviewed at Fashion Week by PopSugar TV.  She reiterates that she will indeed be on the show during Season 5, but has no idea in what way, shape or form.

During the interview, she admits:

“I don’t know if she’s alive or dead. And, I mean, half my head has been blown off, so, you know… They haven’t told me anything. We rarely know anything until we get the script. So, as an actor I’m terrified. I’m very excited, but I’m very nervous.”

Find out what else she has to say, and who she always thought Tara should end up with, in the video below:

What do you reckon?  Vampire?  Ghost?  Vegetable?!  Oh, with True Blood, the possibilities are endless.

Video: Stephen Moyer Spills on Season 5 — Spoilers!

Vampire Bill shares Spoilers for Season 5:

Stephen Moyer as True Blood’s Bill ComptonMTV recently interviewed Stephen Moyer (the handsome Brit who plays vampire Bill Compton on HBO’s True Blood) at the junket for his latest movie, The Caller. When asked for Bon Temps Spoilers Moyer said:

“I know there is going to be an omnipresent power in season five. I know what it is. I think we could be heading towards an even greater season.”

Sounds marvelous! What could this “omnipresent power” be? More witches? Fairies? Another Supe? Will Jesus fly down to Bon Temps and decide he can’t miss all the fun? Wait, Moyer has more to say about the coming season:

“If they go where they’re going, it will be amazing and upset a lot of people, which is what we like.”

Great! Nine months of these teasers! How are we going to cope? After Sunday’s incredible finale (with the most cliffhangers in True Blood finale history) we have plenty to ponder. Stephen Moyer’s statement just adds more questions to our ever-growing list. It’s going to be a long nine months.

Watch the video, and share your theories, questions, and ideas about season five in the comments section below. Who knows? Maybe Alan Ball will stumble across our page and get some ideas from us!

True Blood Season 5 Spoiler Alert! Update on Tara Thornton

Spoiler Alert! Will Tara Be Back for Season 5 of  True Blood?

Rutina Wesley HBO promoAccording to Rutina Wesley in a Q & A with TVLine, the answer is a resounding yes.  Her contract has been renewed for Season 5.  But what exactly does that mean on True Blood?  Does she survive having the back of her head blown off?  Does she become a vampire?  A zombie?  A ghost? Who the heck knows?  Not even the actress herself:

“Everything’s up in the air because half of my head is missing. [Laughs] I know Alan has big plans for me next season. But has he shared those plans with me? Not really.”

Although, she would prefer not to become a vampire.  She enjoys being one of the only humans left on the show, and besides — it would be a pain to have to learn how to talk with fangs in your mouth!  Oh, and another thing… don’t call Tara a victim.  Wesley says she saw her character more as a survivor this season, just trying to get through it all.  She enjoyed filming the shooting scene, and she really enjoyed getting to play “sassy Tara” again:

“I really liked the humor in Tara that we got towards the end. It felt like Season 1 Tara with the one-liners. It was fun getting back to the sassy Tara. I just like to see her be strong and stable and not necessarily crying and whining.”

So, what’s the bottom line, Truebies?  You will be seeing Tara on the show in Season 5.  As exactly what, that remains to be seen!  What’s your theory?  Are you glad she’s coming back, or were you glad to see her go?

True Blood Introduces New Character in Season 4 Finale

Scott Foley as “Patrick”, Terry’s Army Buddy:

Scott Foley, Patrick on HBO’s True Blood (Cliff Lipson/CBS)Todd LoweTerry Bellefleur on True Blood, has been acting with a creepy baby and creepy baby doll all season and he is looking forward to working with adults again. There will be a whole lot of drama going down between vampires, witches, shifters and werewolves this Sunday on the Season 4 finale. Somewhere in the middle of that we will be introduced to a new character, Patrick played by actor Scott Foley, an old army buddy of Terry’s.  Lowe explains why he [Patrick] is coming to Bon Temps now:

“He looked [Terry] up. He found him and I guess he has something to say and something to talk about. You don’t just wander in and find someone at their workplace unless you have something important to share with him.”

Their encounter will not be a long one, Lowe reveals, and from what he says above it will take place at Merlotte’s. Foley‘s character is expected to return in Season 5 in a more substantial role. Lowe hopes that this character’s entrance into the series means that True Blood’s audience will get to know more about Terry’s past, maybe see some flashbacks of his time in the war. Lowe said about Terry’s past:

“I’d like to see where his post-traumatic stress disorder came from. Was it a series of events? Was it a friend or life that was lost in front of him? Was it someone’s life that he took? I’d like to see where that goes and see why Terry is so screwed up… I have a feeling it’s going to go kind of dark. I got a hint from Alan Ball that we’re going to see a little darker side to Terry.”

The season finale will take place during Halloween. Lowe’s response to this spooky setting for the finale:

“Wouldn’t you think it’d be just a little bit anticlimactic with all this other stuff going on? But I guess the people of Bon Temps find a way to celebrate the Halloween Holiday.”

We are mere days away from the finale of Season 4, but what about Season 5 and all it will have in store for Terry Bellefleur? Are you exited to see Terry’s character grow and learn more about his past? Will the arrival of Patrick bring conflict to Terry’s life? Is it possible this old war buddy is a supernatural? Share you ideas and theories with us in the comments section below.

Video: New True Blood Cast Member Scott Foley

A War Veteran Named Patrick:

Scott Foley (True Blood’s Patrick)Recently, Wetpaint did a video article on True Blood’s newest cast member, Scott Foley. He will join the cast of True Blood for the finale, but will be back in Season 5.

Foley will play the role of Patrick, Terry Bellefleur’s platoon leader from when they served in Iraq together.

Now, fans of Grey’s Anatomy may be a little concerned about the upcoming prominent supporting role Foley will play in Season 5 of True Blood. Will he have to turn down his recurrent role on Grey’s? Well, you need not worry, the filming schedules of both shows are different, so he will be able to maintain both roles.

So how do you think Terry will react to Patrick showing up? Let us know once you check out the video!

HBO’s True Blood Renewed for Season 5!

Alan Ball Producer of HBO's True Blood

Alan Ball Signed July 28th

In July Alan Ball signed a contract with HBO for several other series and to stay on for Season 5 of True Blood.

Ball said Thursday during HBO’s presentation at the summer Television Critics’ Association tour stop that he has inked a deal for another year on the series, effectively tipping the network’s hand that a fifth-season renewal could be imminent. “There will be an end for me at some point but I just closed a deal to do another season,” he said. “I don’t have any desire to leave because I’m having more fun than I ever had in my life.” Ball later told The Hollywood Reporter that his deal is exclusive to HBO, where he has a “couple pilots” in development.

True Blood at Comic-Con: Revelations for Season 4

The Sexy Stars of True Blood Q&A at Comic-Con:

TB Season 4 poster-redThe cast of True Blood made their appearance at Comic-Con this past weekend and looked good doing so!  Many of the cast members, as well as creator Alan Ball, were there and took part in the discussion.  Fortunately for us, many of the questions we have regarding Season 4 were answered or at least alluded to!  (Click here to see pictures of the cast at Comic-Con)

Jason/Jessica/Hoyt Possible Love Triangle?

One of the most burning questions after last week’s episode was:  What will happen between Jessica and Jason now that Jason has ingested her blood? Deborah Ann Woll (Jessica) was the first to comment suggesting that she’s more interested to see what will happen to Jason once the effects of the V wear off.  Jason’s ceremonial werepanther rape scenes were also a topic for discussion.  Ryan Kwanten (Jason) joked that he felt Jason might have actually enjoyed being called “ghost daddy.”  Kwanten also stated that filming those scenes was quite the challenge for him, considering he was only able to use his face in order to act them out.

The Origin of Eric’s New Attire?

Perhaps one of the more humorous discussions was the topic of Eric’s new wardrobe upon his unexpected arrival at Sookie’s place.  Alexander Skarsgård (Eric) suggested that his new choice of attire more than likely wasn’t Jason’s but could possibly be something that Hoyt might have left behind at some point in time.  Skarsgård joked:

“It’s the mystery of the season.”

while Alan Ball added that it was a “really dorky outfit,” but one that Skarsgård could wear “and still be insanely hot.”  I must admit, I second that notion!

What Will Come of Bill & Portia’s Relationship?

When the topic of Bill’s incestuous relationship with Portia Bellefleur (Courtney Ford) was brought up, Stephen Moyer joked that it would have probably been a good idea for Bill to have “gone to the local library,” and then added, “maybe it wasn’t open at night.”  Moyer reassured the crowd that Bill and Portia will see each other again but that at the moment, “Bill has bigger fish to fry.”

Pam’s Appalling New Look:

Kristin Bauer van Straten (Pam) discussed the current state of her morbid appearance and how time-consuming the process was to look that convincing.  She added that one way they achieved her dreadful appearance included a mixture of tapioca pudding and coffee grinds.  When asked whether or not we would get to see how and why Eric created Pam, his progeny, Ball was quick to answer no.  He added that we’ll “definitely see it in Season 5.”

Is Baby Mikey Evil?

Another pressing topic was that of baby Mikey.  Is something wrong with him or is it that dreaded doll that keeps showing up?  Is René’s evil spirit haunting Arlene?  When asked if we would find out what exactly is going on with Arlene’s baby, Ball answered:

“Yes, we will find out, and it’s something really creepy.”

There you have it folks, straight from the usually-more-cryptic horse’s mouth. Is this going to be a good season, or what?

Denis O’Hare on Being the King of Mississippi

He’s Back for Season 5!

Denis O'Hare as Russell Edgington, King of MississippiRussell Edgington is one of HBO’s best villians, or so say the fans of True Blood. While Season 3 saw him being buried alive in concrete, we all know that that is not enough to keep a vampire down. There has been plenty of talk since on when he will reappear. Finally, we have confirmation from the man himself via a recent interview with Film School Rejects:

“They were definitely bringing me back, it was just a matter of if they wanted to bring me back the last couple episodes [of Season 4] or bring me back at the beginning [of Season 5]. So they decided to do it at the beginning of season 5.”

During this interview, his love for the unhinged character of Russell, was apparent. He had plenty to say on how Russell ended up the way he did. Some of it revolves around Russell’s boyfriend, Talbot, while other parts of the character remain true to his earlier identity, before Talbot.

While originally Russell was said to be over a thousand years old, it soon became apparent that he was older still. He was, in fact, closer to 3,000 years old. This would have made his origin to be either from Palestine or Europe. The writers of the show picked a European descent, and in particular, a pagan Celt. This has led to a possible reason for his ruthlessness, since the Celts from that era were basically uncivilized.

Of course, when Talbot appeared in 1300 AD, this changed somewhat. Talbot was a Greek prince, and was used to more civilized traditions. As a result, Russell turned into a refined savage. It’s reported that his sense of style improved somewhat from this time onwards also.

Another topic discussed by Jack Giroux from Film School Rejects, is the childlike quality that Russell has. While most vampires are required to be slick and not easily ruffled, Russell is quite different. O’Hare admires this, saying:

“I love that Russell has this intense passion for life; literally a passion for living and a passion for life. I think that actually forms his kind of childlike quality.”

The king shows this quality when he walks out into the sun for the first time since becoming a vampire. Although some of this amazement might also stem from his pagan background, since the Celtic pagans were worshippers of the sun god Lugh.

There is a suggestion that Russell reverts back to his uncivilized manner when Talbot dies. This is evident in the “Jar ’O Talbot” that he starts to carry around. Without Talbot, he no longer has the requirement to behave himself. With this occurring, we have the incident of a news broadcaster losing his life.

O’Hare defends Russell and all his craziness with quite a valid argument:

“No, that’s the thing about anytime you are playing a character, the characters always think they are right. They have no ability to be objective about themselves. If you are in a fight with the credit card company, you can’t see yourself and how shrill you’re getting. And you can’t see how crazy you are being over the $25 charge. You are simply right.”

They go on to discuss the actor’s latest work: Hoover, which is directed by Clint Eastwood, for whom he has a lot of respect. While O’Hare will always stick to a script implicitly, due to his stage upbringing, he is more relaxed about directors being able to change scripts as need be. He also loved the fact that Eastwood kept true to Hoover’s character, which was somewhat flawed, but still managed to convey the fact that Hoover had a story to tell.

Tell us Truebies, is this good news? Do we welcome the return of the king?

True Blood: Season 5 Actor Needed

Actor to Play a Military Character:

Todd Lowe as True Blood's Terry BellefleurWhile Season 4 has yet to start for True Blood, there is talk of a new character for the series. HBO is on the lookout for an actor to play a military friend of Terry Bellefleur (played by Todd Lowe).

It seems that this character may turn up as early as the Season 4 finale, but will stick around for quite some time into Season 5. The character appears to have played a major part in Terry’s life, having saved it twice before.

Now all we need to know is if this character will be human or not?
