True Blood 3.09 “Everything Is Broken” Review

Denis O'Hare True Blood Holding Bloody TalbotIn the world of True Blood, people’s lives were forever changed by the knowledge that vampires existed, and they changed again in “Everything Is Broken.” Russell Edgington issued a Great Revelation of his own, essentially waging open war on mankind. With only 3 episodes left to go in Season 3, who can stop him? Even if Russell can be stopped, how can the damage he’s caused be repaired?

At the start of the episode, Eric flies to Fangtasia to tell Pam what he has done and get them to a safe place. Inconveniently, Nan Flanagan of the American Vampire League picked this time to drop by and inquire after the missing Magister. She instructs one of her soldiers to take silver to Eric, and Ginger‘s familiar horrified screams take us into the opening credits.

Russell arrives home to find Talbot nothing more than a pile of bloody guts on the floor. He frantically starts trying to hold onto what’s left of his lover, although he takes a brief moment to look curiously at the empty stand which should hold his Viking crown.

Sookie climbs into the shower to rinse the blood off from her fight with Debbie and her sex with Bill. Then Bill decides to join her, and their intimacy takes on the sweeter tone we’re used to. He drinks a little more from her neck and then bites his finger, using his blood to heal the bite marks. As they kiss passionately and appear to be begin another lovemaking session, the water washes away the blood from both of them, and they seem closer than they’ve been in a long time, emotionally and physically.

Afterwards, some of the unpleasantness of reality sinks back in as Sookie discovers the body of the werewolf Bill killed. It’s quite an amusing scene, though, as Bill and Sookie talk about what life would be like if they were “normal” while wrapping up the dead naked man in a tarp to dispose of: “What would you rather be doing? Sittin’ on the sofa, watchin’ television?” “Well,” Sookie responds, “that used to be my idea of excitement, you know. You’ve spoiled me.”

Like Sookie seems to have done in a very short amount of time since the dramatic events of Jackson, I find myself easily softening up to Bill again and forgiving him for what seemed so awful only a few weeks ago, particularly when he looks so heartfelt: “You have to trust me….don’t you?” She uses the opportunity to bring up the folder of newspaper clippings and family information shown to her by Russell: “Okay, see, I don’t know how you did things in the 1800’s, but keeping a file on the woman you love is…creepy.” Bill explains that he was only trying to learn what she was to see why Eric was so interested in her, and so that he could protect her better. Sookie makes a very good point: “You have to trust me, and stop thinking of me as a thing to be protected. I took care of Debbie myself. I’m not afraid to spill a little blood anymore. As much as you want to be human, I think I’m meeting you halfway to vampire.”

Lafayette surprises himself when he wants Jesus to stay the night. Normally after sleeping with a guy, he comes up with an excuse to kick him out. This is definitely a new experience for him, and he looks happier and more peaceful than we’ve ever seen him. The next day, Jesus takes Ruby Jean back to the hospital. She recognizes something different about Lafayette (or as she calls him, “La La”): “You ain’t got your mask on…My son is shining through.”

Meanwhile, Crystal is sending some seriously mixed signals to Jason. When he returns home to find Felton screaming at her, she acts like Jason kidnapped and raped her, much to his confusion. Then when Felton starts in on Jason, she hits him over the back of the head and wants Jason‘s help tying him up and making an anonymous call to get him arrested for selling V. Later at the police station, she and Jason hear that Felton badly beat that sweet mumbling deputy, Kevin. Jason offers Andy an idea that’s actually not bad, to raid the drug house in Hot Shot. (And what was with the sinister music playing when Andy looked at the vials of V?)

Eric gives a shockingly honest account about his history with Russell to Nan Flanagan and the Authority (Big Brother-type people in suits watching via video feed). He talks about the branded werewolves fed with vampire blood, the killing of the Magister, his vendetta after the death of his family–even Pam didn’t know about that. He tells them that Russell doesn’t want to coexist with humans, “he wants to subjugate them.” His confessions seem sure to get him staked as punishment, but he appears to be resigned to that. At least he would be leaving behind people who know about Russell’s maniacal plan and could try to stop him. And just like Bill and Sookie from earlier in the episode, we see Eric and Pam closer than they’ve ever been before, with him saying she should Make another when he’s gone, and her laying her head on his chest. She cries to think that their years together might be over, but he somberly tells her, “Everything ends. Even the immortal ones.”

Now that Sam has accepted responsibility for Tommy, he has to deal with all the problems that accompany having an obnoxious teenage brother to look after. Terry and Arlene call late in the night, disturbed by loud noises coming from next door. It seems that Tommy and his lady friend are enjoying themselves a little too much. Sam goes over there to tell them to keep it down, and Tommy calls him “a stick in the mud.”

Sookie gets a phone call from Hadley who wants to see her again. She admits that she’s the reason Sookie is being hunted because of things she told Sophie-Anne, not realizing what the consequences would be. She pulled her son out of the daycare and brought him to the aquarium. She wants Sookie to find out if he has telepathy, too, because then she’ll know that she needs to hide him. Sookie sits down next to Hunter and thinks, ‘Which is your favorite fish in the aquarium? It’s alright, no one knows, it’s just us.’ ‘The blue one,’ he replies wordlessly. Hadley gets very upset when she realizes her suspicions are confirmed. Hadley starts running off with Hunter to hide him, and he yells to Sookie “she knows, she knows”.  Who is he referring too?

Tara goes to a meeting at a local church for rape survivors. There she sees Holly, the new Merlotte’s waitress, who shares her story about being attacked by a coworker many years ago. What she says really resonates with Tara: “Every day I face not only my memory of that, but that part of me who wants to feel sorry for herself, and expects the worst out of people. But that’s not who I was raised to be. And I still believe that people are worth trusting, and every day that piece of me gets a tiny bit stronger.”

Holly comforts Arlene, too, when she’s crying at work over Tommy stealing her tips. She opens up about her pregnancy and how worried she is about losing Terry. She feels like her baby is a “timebomb” that’s going to be just like his evil daddy and destroy her life. Holly asks the hard question, “You want this baby?” Arlene doesn’t, but neither will she get an abortion. Holly hugs her and assures her there are “other ways to resolve it.” What could she mean by that? I like her. I hope she doesn’t die…

Hoyt brings his new girlfriend to Merlotte’s. Jessica gets mad at him for coming, then embarrassed for her fangs popping out when she meets Summer. Jessica sits down with Hoyt when Summer‘s in the bathroom (leaving all her antique dolls on the table…). “Does she at least make you happy?” Jessica asks. Hoyt admits that he hates Summer, but “it beats sittin’ around thinking about you.” Awwww…

Jesus drops by Merlotte’s to see Lafayette, and Tara can’t believe her cousin might actually be in a relationship. He says he can’t decide if Jesus is a miracle or a fool.

Crystal is worried that her family is going to think she’s a snitch. She’s scared they’ll hurt her, but her fear turns to concern when she hears from Jason that they might all get busted. Then after Sam smashes Calvin’s face in for calling him a pussy, she rides with her dad to the hospital. Crystal doesn’t seem to know what she wants.

For Sam, Calvin‘s insult was one step too far after all the stress building up, and Tommy‘s comment that he lets everyone walk all over him. Jason tries to stop Crystal from going back to the people who’ve controlled her life, but she doesn’t listen. Jason is left standing in the parking lot, and it’s a good thing, too, because who should make his grand return but Franklin Mott. He pins Tara to a wall and prepares to kill her, but he says he’ll mourn her death because he loves her. “You don’t love anything. You can’t, because you’re a psychopath! You violated me and terrorized me because that’s what vampires do, and you’re calling that love…You wanna hear me beg for my life, is that it? That’s the only thing y’all can feel: the destruction of life, ’cause you ain’t got none in you.” She’s not afraid to die because then she’ll be rid of him.

Jason cocks his shotgun behind Franklin. “You do realize, I’m a vampire. You could empty every round in me, and I’ll heal.” “Not if I got wooden bullets,” Jason says, as Franklin explodes. (I won’t mourn psycho Franklin, but I will miss James Frain!)

Bill is the one who finds the truth about what Sookie is. He’s asleep in his cubby hole, when he has a strange dream (or is it a dream) of climbing out into that garden we saw in “Hitting the Ground.” He’s dressed all in white, and walks on the water across the pond (symbolism, much?). Claudine happens upon him, confused as to how he came to be there. She thinks he killed Sookie and runs from him. He chases her down and, as he looks down at her neck, it’s clear he wants to bite her. When his fangs come out, Claudine shoots light out of her hands and throws him back.

Bill promises that Sookie is safe, that he would never hurt her. Claudine doesn’t believe him at first, saying he doesn’t really love Sookie and only wants to steal her light. But she seems persuaded by his insistence on protecting Sookie and gives him some kind of insight into what they are. When Bill goes to Sookie, now hiding out at Jason‘s house, he sits her down and begins to tell her about his strange experience and answer the question she has wondered about all her life: “Sookie, I know what you are.” (Except, we still don’t know exactly because the episode ended before we got to see that part!)

The dramatic ending goes to the King of Mississippi, who has gone crazy in his grief over Talbot, whose entrails he is now carrying around in a crystal jar. Just as the American Vampire League gives Eric the freedom to quietly and unofficially carry out his justice on Russell (“Bring me his fangs,” Nan commands, “or I will have yours”), Russell interrupts a news broadcast to make his big statement to humanity. Ripping out the spine of the news anchor reporting on the Vampire Rights Amendment, he says,”We are nothing like you. We are immortal–because we drink the True Blood, blood that is living, organic, and human…Make no mistake, mine is the true face of vampires! Why would we seek equal rights? You are not our equals. We will eat you, after we eat your children. Now time for the weather–Tiffany?”

So what are everyone else’s thoughts on this episode? After Ruby Jean’s remark to Lafayette about his “mask,” I was extremely impressed by you commenters who’ve been talking for weeks about masks that the characters seem to be wearing!

Just a side note: Recently, I have started watching Six Feet Under. I just finished season 4 and still have to watch most of the last season. I know how the show ends though. Personally, I think the show lives up to the praise. Six Feet Under is a wonderful show.

Did anyone else notice that Jesus seemed to know the person he was talking to on the phone (when he took Calvin to the hospital)? I think Jesus knows that Calvin is not entirely human. Calvin can’t really be taken to a hospital.

    Ollie Chong aka AdoreBill

LOL I have to watch that scene again Caitlin! You may be right remember how Sam and Tommy could smell that they were different maybe Jesus could too unless he is like them but not from Hot Shot. Can’t wait for Sunday night! 🙂

    Sandy

Not unusual to know someone at the local hospital when you are a nurse. But, wonder if Jesus will be something totally unexpected and not book related – a dif supe? Heck, they added Jessica to the story and how cool is that? So thinking that he knows a lot but isnt “bad” (remember so many grey areas with people – we all have good and bad in us).
He is “something” tho – highly doubt he is straight human. Funny – Ruby Jean, in any other world would be straight nuts but when she says “they comin for you” and names the different supes – well hardly crazy, Laffy doesnt know about the other supes the same way that Sam or Sookie do. Ruby Jean isnt crazy at all. She is powerful as is Tara’s Mom. She used to drink and still hides behind god because she is so very afraid of that juju power. (it *is* Louisiana lol)!
Excited!! Tonight is TB night. =)

    Cheers

Sandy

First a huge thank you to everyone here – all very welcoming to this “newbie” to a fan site. (not TB heh)
Secondly, for the maturity that has been shown here. Infamous on the HBO thread? LOL! The old, old forums were better (lurker but had a login) including the old design but over flashing a site is something that happens a lot these days.

That was where I saw the “rabid” Eric and Bill fans too! No way I would have hung out this long if this wasnt a great group. So Thank you!

Pretty obvious who did the complaining too and heck I am new here….so….that *is* obvious.

This site is fun for many reasons and everyone I have spoken to here has been great. What I *love* is the theories we toss about – speaking of theories, reckon Eric’s been working on one too. He is a sheriff after all, so he most likely has been gathering intel – on all of the players. From Sookie’s family, friends and as pointed out in season 2 (Mary-ann? I think) there sure are a lot of supes in that area…hmmmm. What could be brewing and why?

The light in Sookie probably has a direct connection to her life, her blood, her strength etc. Maybe it skips generations and comes out very strong in others? So maybe Sookie is also precious to the Fae – it wasnt like Claudine explained everything to her either. Maybe it is safer she doesnt know some stuff or learns stuff as she goes – maybe she is being counted on to win some long brewing supe war? (the most powerful fae/human to come along in generations or some such)?

The possibilities are endless and what really makes this show, books, characters so darn addictive! It’s fun for everyone.

Cheers
Sandy

    Nicely said Sandy,

I’m also a “newbie” to this site. I just started posting this season. I also, want to thank you all for being very welcoming, reading my posts, and commenting on my posts. It’s fun to be able to swap ideas back and forth with people who love this show as much as I love it. Yes, we have our share of disagreements. However, these disscusions are rooted in our passion for these characters who we are invested in.

Sandy, you might be onto something. There has to be some reason all these supes are in the same region. Possibly, a war could be coming between competing forces. Sometimes I forget that Eric probably has a lot of other sheriff duties that we do not no about in the show. A lot of times, we see Eric at Fangtasia.

I hope we get to see Claudine in the human world soon. I like Claudine in the show but I thought her introduction was odd. Claudine will have to teach Sookie how to control and use her powers. I wonder how much harm that light can really do to a supe? When Claudine struck Bill he went flying. However, Bill seemed all right. Last season Sookie knocked over “the meat tree”. Can the light from their hands kill a person? Bookies know the “light” is not in the books. I guess we’ll have to wait and see.

    Team True Blood!

    Ollie Chong aka AdoreBill

Wow Sandy that is a fascinating idea. With Eric maybe know more or gathering intel to the idea about Sookie. Could they be hinting to a fae war. As Claudine said they have always been protecting here but how come they never came forth before until now. It it was now that they wanted to take her to the other side. So many possibilities and yes that is what makes it fun. Hmmm, you and the other commentors all have great ideas.

Sandy

I’ve been thinking (LMAO…) and have a little theory regarding Bill. I don’t think he knew exactly what his “job” would be when he was sent to “protect/procure/watch” Sookie. Seriously think it goes beyond QSA and more like AVL – like QSA leveraged Sookie to the AVL for help with money/power.
Because we know AB has this story line more convoluted than anything in the books LMAO.
It would also explain why “Sookie must be protected” was not an edict that Eric had heard (season 1 or 2 Eric’s office).

Cheers Truebies
Sandy

    jaxx

Hi Sandy, funny you should think that b/c I’ve been thinking that too. It goes beyond the Queen. The next 3 epsidoes will be very interesting to watch and see where we land with all of this. Remember it was spoiled in the very beginning that everyone’s stories connect. I can’t wait to see how.

      ~ Caitlin

That is funny Sandy. Your right maybe Bill didn’t know exactly what his job was. I think a lot of vampires don’t know half of what’s going on. Eric is no exception. He didn’t know why Bill came to town either. I think Kristin hinted in an interwiew that Eric doesn’t know everything either. Also, I agree with you and jaxx there has to be more to the story. Like someone said QSA was ready to let Bill rot.

    Ollie Chong aka AdoreBill

OMG Sandy you have a fantastic theory there! I have wondered about that too. If Alan is going with the storyline Bill was sent to Bon Temps (which seems that Alan is hinting at hitting in True Blood) this leads to so many questions? Did he know exactly what is job was? Was he given all the details? Someone mentioned earlier that the interaction between Bill and QSA seems off. If he was sent by her to bring Sookie to her why didn’t he do it right away or when he saw the queen why didn’t she demand him to bring Sookie to her. Just something is off. So perhaps you may be right perhaps it is someone higher up? Ok now this just popped into my head so let me know what everyone thinks about this, but as he has said “I need to protect you” or “you have to be protected” could he have been sent not to bring her to the queen but to be protected? Well we will find out soon enough. 🙂

      ~ Caitlin

This is definitely a thought Ollie. You never know what AB has up his sleeve. He mentioned that he found this storyline interesting in the book. Who would send Bill to protect Sookie? It couldn’t have been a fae since Bill didn’t know Sookie was a fae. Unless, is it possible that some fae could have masked there sent and paid Bill to protect her? That might sound a little far fetched though… Who knows AB loves Bill so he might give him redemption. Yes, something did seem amiss when Bill was at QSA’s last season. I was surprised when he just got up to leave. However, Eric was so subserviant to QSA. Bill got away with more in her presence. I still think Bill’s secret/s might be worse than in the books. It makes for better drama. Just a thought.

      Sandy

Thank you and thanks to all for the compliments!
I’ve long noticed (season 2) that Bill was very different to the Queen than Eric and it was more than just Eric being respectful. It was almost as if Bill never had any loyalty to the Queen at all.

On the other hand, I think that Godric was connected to the AVL in other ways. (Eric to Nan “you don’t have that kind of power” RE removing him from his area). Godric was also mentioned as “sanctimonious” – well now compared to Lorena, sure but is there more? Seems Eric won’t call in any favors for himself, but to protect those he cares about. And, considering his maker, bet there are some impressive favors up his sleeve. And I bet despite his own affection for Sookie – he will always feel in debted to her for standing with his maker.

The ties may be everyone owes the AVL in one way or another. Sam? Maybe they helped him get out of trouble or if he had been shot – who healed him? He always felt concern for Sookie getting herself involved with Vamps but where did his knowledge of them start? He was alone for a long time and he ended up doing well for himself – trying to leave a different life behind. (he held that money for the maenad too)!

      Cheers
      Sandy

        ~ Caitlin

        Hi Sandy,

I know what you mean about Bill/QSA. She never really seemed to have a hold over him. Maybe, that is why Bill didn’t seem to concerned when he swore fealty to Russell.

Wow! Godric could have been connected to the AVL in more ways. I agreed Eric will always be grateful to Sookie for staying with Godric. Remember the look on Eric’s face when Sookie said she would stay with Godric. Sookie was the last person to see Godric alive. I hope someday Sookie/Eric have a heart to heart about Godric. I’m sure Eric has questions about his makers final moments. Obviously, Sookies the only one with the answers. Perhaps, Eric will hire someone to fix Sookies house.

Maybe differnet supes will join together to fight Russell. All the stories are interwtined this season. It looks like next episode we will see a glimpse of Sam’s shady past. It will be interesting to see how Nan handles this pr mess. Rev. Newlins back so that adds to the situation. Rev. Newlin will have a field day with this one.

      Sandy

He would always say “Sookie, *must* be protected” never why. Many of us fell for it was only because she was special and he cared about her and that’s certainly true….now.
He is scared and it doesnt seem like he is afraid of QSA at all.

      Cheers
      Sandy (working on 1st cuppa)

Greetings Truebies,
Sorry, been a hectic week. Another great episode filled with beauty, tender moments, revelations, absolute craziness and so much more.

I loved the beautiful shower scene. It had so much meaning. Bill and Sookie coming off their adrenaline rush to just be gentle, loving, and sweetly intimate with each other. No need for crazy, wild, show me everything sex. It was lovely in its tenderness and healing.
Sookie allowing him to drink from her tells us that she does not hold him accountable for what happened in the van. She understood it was not his fault. Bill healing her wounds again says so much. He is always healing her.
The symbolism of the blood going down the drain could be seen in different ways. It could mean all the violence they just survived being washed away and replaced with love. Or it could be foretelling the end of their relationship. It probably is both.

**spoiler**Bill has yet to tell Sookie the truth as the book readers know. One must wonder why? It really makes no sense that he does not. He should come clean. He loves her deeply and fights and defends her constantly.
Bill saying that he is trying to find out who Sookie is, is the truth. That it is because of Erics interest in her is also a truth, but perhaps not the whole truth. This is what will ultimately break them up, not revealing the whole truth, we know this will happen, it is necessary to continue the story.
Loved Bill and Sookie cleaning house and bantering, like a happy almost normal couple, they are too cute when they have a chance to be normal, even taking out the trash! I wonder what was done with the body? Good there is a graveyard nearby. We know that Talbot had a special spot under the gazebo, LOL!

Bill in the fae world was wonderful, so much to speculate on. Walking on water was also symbolic in itself. Perhaps Bill is special. The fact that it was so highlighted, why show that unless it was significant? The trapdoor could have been near the side so he could merely walk onto the rocks. But it was very specifically shown that Bill was able to walk on the water. Very interesting. BTW, Stephens feet are as beautifully long, lean, and sculpted as his gorgeous hands (sorry had a food fetish moment there).
Obviously Bills entrance was from Sookies blood. This may be why she is being pursued by so many. SA knows, Eric knows, Bill just found out. But from Claudine’s surprise, it seems that no other vampire has ever entered there.
Sookies light has much meaning. Is it her lifeforce? Immortality, health and healing? Her ability? Being able to enter this other world? I think all of the above. It could also signify the ability for a vamp to become human again, not just tolerate the light.
The fae can protect themselves against any one it seems, human or supe. I thought it interesting that Bill said he was gone for hours. It seems that Claudine and he had a long conversation, accepted Bills words, and did not further harm him. It would not be hard for her to see how much Bill loves Sookie. She revealed to Bill about who Sookie is, that is a sign of trust.
I wonder why the cemetery is the portal for the fae? Could it be because Earl is buried there?

I really enjoyed Eric in this episode. He did well in his interview for Nan and the authority. But he did set himself up as their perfect scapegoat.
Eric had no “plan” after he staked Talbot. He acted rashly, impulsively and fled. So it can be said that he can be as ruled by his passion as Bill is. Although so far Bills passion has been all about his love and desire to protect Sookie and now Jess as seen by him challenging Russell, who he has no chance against, to save her, just as he tried for Sookie.

It seems that whenever Eric is upset or his well laid plans go awry, he takes it out on Pam. I find that awful. He yelled at her again for something that was his own fault. That is a shame because Pam is his rock. They did have a very lovely moment later. I think that if things were a little different, these two are the perfect couple. Perhaps someday they will realize it.
Interesting that Eric does not reveal to Pam, even after a hundred years, something that was so very personal, private and distressing to him. I see a very similar comparison to Bill, not always revealing to Sookie, who he does love with all his heart, his deepest pains. Its very much the same thing.
BTW, Bill at this point has only known Sookie for about 2 months. Bills haunted past, his grieving, is so hurtful, it is hard for him to open up completely. Yet Bill is frowned upon and trashed continually because of it. That is shameful and spiteful.

Nan is a pure hypocrite. She is simply a badass with a lot of power. Sad that Russell in his off the cuff crazy rant on the news, was right about many things.
She was happy to dump the Russell mess in Erics lap. If both were to die, I am sure she would not care, it is obvious that she does not hold Eric in high regard.

The Authority and Big brother sound like one in the same. I wonder how this will eventually play out.

We see now a deranged Russell. For all his silly bickering with Talbot, he loved him deeply. It was this love that was keeping him grounded. Now, born of this loss, we see a new talent emerge in Russell. He gets my vote for “Anchorman” of the year!! LOL

I was shocked at Sams uncontrollable animal revealing itself in such a violent way. Yet I also secretly applaud him for standing up and not taking it anymore. Way to go Alpha dog! He also has to take a switch to Tommys hide! I think that Tommy is purposefully challenging Sam, helping him to alpha up.

I wonder if we will see witchcraft and voodoosim associated with Jesus and Lafayette. That could be what is so special about the both of them. Jesus knew of the statues on Laffys mantle and Tara has made references to Laffys “juju”. This could be handed down by Ruby Jean. A connection to these dark or light arts.

I will miss our brief resident wackedout vamp Franklin. I thought he went to soon.
I found another very similar comparison upon hearing the last exchange with Tara and Franklin.
Tara said to him:
“Because the second I’m gone I’ll be rid of you forever, I’ll be free”
How similar this is to what Bill said to Lorena. That only when he is dead can he be free of the disease that was her.
Both Tara and Bill have a lot in common, haunted and tragic. I am hoping that someday they can reconcile. They have had a rocky relationship from the first time Bill walked into Merlottes and Tara not realizing it, was being very prejudiced. It is easy to rail against and fear what you do not understand.

Hunter is adoreable, I can fully understand why Hadley is now on the run with him. I wonder if he has a fairy godmother and is looked after as well.

BTW, anyone seen Chow lately?

A few more quotes to add:

Bill to Claudine: “I love her”

Bill to Claudine: “Sookie needs to know who she is so she can protect herself. What in Gods name are you”

Bill to Sookie: “What would you rather be doing, sitting on the sofa, watching television?”

Bill to Sookie: “ Sookie, he was sent to kill you, if I didn’t kill him, he would have come back for you.

Bill to Sookie: “You trust me, don’t you?”

Nan to Eric: “You look like sh*t”

Nan to Eric: “Shut up, you are making my head hurt”

Nam to Eric: “Listen you whiney little B*tch”

Well, been at this since 4am, time to go!
So sad that there are only 3 epis left ?

    Nia

Oh goodness it is amazing what a good hot shower will do, aside from giving me the most wonderful fantasies!! Yummy!!
    Hold on, need a moment………………
But I eventually came down to earth and remembered something I have been wanting to remark upon since last epi.
This is connected to my comment about Lafayett possible having ties to witchcraft. It was mentioned by someone last epi that Lafayette may be part fae. I have been wanting to comment additionally why I do not believe so.
One must remember when Pam, Chow and Eric were all feeding on Lafayette, there was never a mention about his blood tasting different and if recall correctly Sookie is 1/8th fae? and yet her blood is so potently delicious to vamps.
    Just FYI.

      lizzie1701

      Hi Nia!

Well responded! I love reading your posts!

I watched the episode at my friend’s house tonight on a 46″ tele and enjoyed it very much, though I preferred the shower scene on my computer as it buffered and slowed and it was like watching in slow motion! It went too quick on the tele!

Loved Bill in fairyland and actually saw him walk on water – he was like Jesus or Godric and maybe a prophecy there??

Loved the Were housekeeping as well! Well, Nan is certainly a contradiction re teh TB! Funny, booby TB she had in that limo, eh? Poor Talbot – in true death you got your wish and now your King is taking you out and about!

I was going to put in my own quotes in response to pbt, but you beat me to it! The Nan to Eric ones were excellent!

Anyhow, TB S3 E1 started on OZ tele tonight and I am going to enjoy it again on my big tele and I also have bottles of True Blood on display!

      Now for the weather! Tiffany!!

      Go True Blood!

        Nia

        Hi Lizzie and everyone!
        Thanks!
Holy moly I missed alot. Dang these impossble long work hours. I was up at 3:30 and was hurridly trying to get my post in. And now it is midnight and I can barely see the nose on my face.

**ARRGGHH, shakes fist at my reality**

But gosh I love this show! I love my vamp! And yes, I do love the ENTIRE cast!!! And you are all great.

Yeah yeah, we sometimes get under each others skin, shoot, you know it is out of love and devotion for our faves that we get our dander up. But like in a real family, we get over it.

Hey Lizzie, I need to catch up with you!!!!

      ~ Caitlin

      Hi Nia,

I thought Laffy might have been fae but you bring up a good point. I’m starting to think it’s less likely that Laffy is fae or even Jesus. I agree, It’s possible that Jesus is just into voodooism. Like pbt said last week maybe he is a warlock. Pbt mentioned that the city Jesus is from is known for witchcraft. He made a point of mentioning(Catamarca). There has to be significance to the jaguar tattoo though..

I also, thought Hunter was adorable. I hope we see a lot more of him. I’m worried he’ll come in harms way. Yes, Nan’s lines to Eric were hilarious. There were a lot of excellent quotes in that episode. She is the biggest hypocrite. Nan, “Tru Blood only, of course.” Flashforward to her engorging on the woman’s thigh. Someday I hope Eric has the satisfaction of killing Nan. She will be a thorn in Eric’s side.

        ~ Caitlin

You are right Nia, Where is Chow?

I too think Eric and Pam would be a nice couple. They are more like father and daughter though. Like I said before, to bad the passion fizzled between them… They really are two peas in a pod or so the saying goes. I think Eric/Pam’s relationship transcends any one lable.

          Isis Nocturne

LOL, Caitlin, I almost think of the Eric/Pam relationship as being similar to the Gibbs/Abby relationship on NCIS. Sort of father/daughter, but somehow more too. They rely on each other in many ways.

        Nia

        Hi Caitlin and Isis,
Hope y’all are happily tucked in and dreaming of your fav vamps. I personally wouldnt mind some of Bills healing blood about now, plus, you know, a little more……
Oh heck I am really tired now. LOL

I havent had a chance to read everyones posts but I can reply to a few before my eyes cross for good.

I can understand thinking that Laffy might have been fae with all the references made to his strength and light. But I remembered about the fangtasia gang making a meal out of him and they never remarked that he was delicious in any special way. Then there is the juju references and his “altar”. Thats what is great about Laffys character is that since he was killed off in CHs 1st book, AB has a freedom tohave fun with his story!!
Laffy is one of my top fav characters and Nelson is outstanding.

Nan is a hypocrit and she was awful to Eric. She thinks perhaps Eric and Russell will do each other in. We all know that it will not happen. ***spoiler*** Esp seeing some pics for the finale. I do hope that someday Bill and Eric can become allies and work together to rid themselves of Russell. Although I think Russell is wonderously evily fun.

Dont you think that Pam and Eric are made for each other?? I see it. At least we can maybe get some background stories.

          ~ Caitlin

          Hi Nia,

You know I like Eric/Sookie together. However, I do agree that Pam/Eric are perfect for each other. I would not be upset in the least if Pam/Eric ended up as a couple. Also, I think a lot Eric and Bill fans would be fine with that outcome. Most people like Pam even if they don’t care for Eric. However, I doubt that would ever happen. Once upon a time, I think Pam/Eric had a sexual relationship. Now they are more father/daughter or even brother/sister. Absolutely, they have a lot of love for each other. It’s complicated.

          jaxx

Pam and Eric would have been great together and we’ll have to see if they ever were a couple in AB’s world (we know they were in the books). I think vamps outgrow each other after a while though. Even Russell and Talbot had other partners outside of their relationship. So we’ll have to see if Pam and Eric were a couple and why they are not one now.

          Nia

I know we have read that vamps that have a sexual relationship normally do not stay with each other but then I guess Lorena was very different. Like it was said, Bill was her drug. She could never get enough of him. Sad really when he could not tolerate her the way she was. perhaps if she was not so badly “turned” by Istvan, Bill and she could have had something special even if she turned him and robbed him of his life with his wife and children. I thought it lovely when Bill said to her that he would have loved to see her before she was turned. I believe he really meant it plus he was being kind to her.

I remember one little line from an earlier epi between Laff and Pam. He called her a hooker I belive, and she replied that that was a long time ago.
Could Pam have been a hooker in her human life and that is how Eric and her met? Maybe he saved her from a dangerous situation and she decided to be turned so she would never have to be under the control of a man that way. Being a vampire gave her strength and free will to do as she pleases.
          Just a thought.

Have a nice weekend ladies, cant wait for tomorrow!!

          jaxx

Hi Nia, good point. From the spoilers I read re Pam, yes she was a prostitute but she sought out Eric (or a vamp) to turn her because she wanted to be turned. I soooo hope we explore Pam’s background and history with Eric in the next 3 episodes. I so want to find out why and how Pam was turned and the circumstances surrounding their relationship for the past 100 years or so.

          Everyone enjoy tomorrow’s episode!! 🙂

          ~ Caitlin

I really hope we get to see a Pam/Eric flashback. I don’t know that Pam was necessarily a prostitute. However, Kristen said Pam was promiscuous. Pam is desperate to protect Eric. Maybe Pam will ask Sookie for help for Eric’s sake. Then, maybe she’ll tell Sookie how she met Eric. That would be a nice transition into a flashback. Just a thought.

DannyJane

Oh how much I loved this episode.

Eric absolutely stole my heart. His sincerity talking to The Authority and his facing Nan when he’s clearly petrified showed just how courageous he can be. Seeing him, sleepless and bleeding from ears and nose as Pam wakes up. the red towel telling us how long he’s been awake and then his emotional talk with her–all so understated and yet so rich with feeling. Brilliant acting on the part of both Alex and Kristen. However, it was Nan’s delivery of The Authority’s decision that riveted me the most. First they went all “Mission Impossible” by both sanctioning and disavowing any of Eric’s activities regarding Russell, then they bestowed the mantle of James Bond on him by granting him the license to kill–as long as they don’t have to know about it. Apparently The Authority is nothing if not expedient.

And as for Eric’s target? This show belonged to Denis O’Hare. Even though Russell had very little face time in this episode, he was a force to be reckoned with whether he was mourning the pile of goo that used to be Talbot, lovingly scraping his remains off the carpet and tenderly placing them in a priceless crystal container or destroying all hope of the AVL getting the VRA passed with his over-the-top television debut.

Well, Nan, maybe you should have listened to Eric a little closer. Maybe now Eric can get a little help.

Most of the other plotlines were little more than continuations. Outstanding moments were the unbearable cuteness of Jesus/Lafayette (so adorable that even Lafayette’s schizophrenic mother questions whether God might actually love fags after all) and the reuniting of Hoyt/Jessica, complete with Hoyt admitting that he can’t stand his substitute girlfriend Summer (the possessor of all the virtues of classic, stereotypical Southern Womanhood; i.e., a sweet, petite, self-absorbed child-woman much like the dolls she so eagerly collects).

Sam. Sam, pushed to the limit of his patience. Sam, proving once and for all that small dosn’t mean weak, that a “mere” shifter can take down a were unarmed and inflict a LOT of damage.

Somebody needs to smack Tommy. ‘Nuff said.

I liked–well, sort of–Bill’s visit to Sookie’s “dream” world and his encounter with Claudine. He must have gotten through to her somehow because she obvoiusly told him. I less than liked his getting back into Sookie’s graces again, although she is far more woman now. She doesn’t rattle easily and it’s questionable whether she’s right about meeting him halfway to vampire. Remember his comment last season that she all but glamoured Jessica with they met. Opinion in reserve for a while yet.

Sookie’s visit with Hadley–Hadley is paying a stiff price for her relationship with Sophie-Anne. Too bad that price may be her little boy. I feel for her.

So glad to see Tara get her groove back. Her visit to the rape crisis center seems to be having beneficial effect. Not only was she able to control her inner anger enough to celebrate her cousin’s happiness with genuine joy, but she courageously stood her ground against the inevitable confrontation with Franklin.

Speaking of which, I commend the makers of True Blood for finally recognizing how serious this really was and for their uncompromising portrayal of it. All though the season they have played the Franklin/Tara storyline for laughs. Yes, I will admit I enjoyed it. Franklin’s twisted take on relationships was funny, charming and sexy. James Frain is a superb actor to be able to make this monster appealing. But this take on the events did the story–and we the viewers–a serious disservice. What Franklin did was NOT funny at all. It wasn’t charming. It wasn’t romantic. He abducted Tara. He raped her. He terrorized her for days. Overall, Tara’s experience was worse than Lafayette’s in Eric’s basement–and we saw what that did to Lafayette. Kudoes to Rutina for brilliantly portraying a woman fighting for her life and dealing with the trauma afterward.

Jason is an idiot. His storyline is idiotic. His facing Franklin with a shotgun loaded with wooden bullets was fantastic! Ryan Kwanten does a fine job with the little he’s given but Jason’s subnormal intelligence seriously needs to be tested.

This brings me to my last observation. Russell Edgington is wrong. Dead wrong. The vampires as a group, in their arrogance over their greater strength, speed and perceived immortality (nothing that can die is truly immortal) are deeply mistaken. I don’t know from what line of reasoning The Authority decided to “come out of the coffin” but really, it was an essential move. There was little other choice in the world of cable television, the internet, and instant communication via cel phones equipped with cameras and video capability.

You see, vampires are NOT the apex predators they think they are. Not by a mile. Yes, one vampire vs. one human (not armed as Jason was) will certainly mean one less human. One vampire vs. ten humans will have a similar outcome. But how many vampires are there in the world? True Blood doesn’t tell us. We can guess a few hundred thousand at the most. Maybe as much as a million.

One million vampires. One million vampires in a world of seven BILLION humans. Thing is, humans from the dawn of history have always been cooperative hunters. We, when faced by dangerous prey, hunt in groups–very successfully. We learn fast. We strategize. And we’re relentless in ways they must respect if they are not utter fools.

Or to give you another example. Ask yourself what is the most dangerous predator in the South American jungle. If you said the jaguar you’d be wrong. The apex predator in the South American Jungle is the army ant. They swarm in colonies made up of billions of individuals. When they encounter any living thing they will cover it and reduce it to picked bones in very short order. When army ants are on the move smart jaguars get out of the way, as does anything else that wants to live.

Intelligent vampires (The Authority, we hope) must know that once humans came to know that vampires are among them (which in this age would have been an inevitable eventuality) said humans had better develop warm, fuzzy feelings toward those said vampires or the vampires will eventually go extinct–as have so many other creatures we decided were dangerous, uneconomic or merely inconvenient.

You don’t think we could do it? Look at our history and think again. If you’re still not sure ask any ask any saber-toothed cat or wooly mammoth–if you can find one.

    ~ Caitlin

    Hi Danny Jane,

I really enjoyed reading your comments. You raised some very interesting points. Yes, never underestimate the underdog. It is when people become over confident that they make mistakes. I completely agree that really even vampires are not immortal. Eventually, I think every vampire does die. It might take thousands of years but it happens. Plus when a vampire is sleeping or being transported ( via Anubis airlines) he or she is vulnerable. Absolutely, humans are capable of savagery just like vampires. Human’s do have that predatory instinct. Interesting, comment on the army ants and jaguar. I also, found the Franklin/Tara storyline funny and terrifying. Your right, in real life there is nothing humerous about that kind of abusive situation.

pbt

Absolutely the best episode this season. Hmmm. How many times have I said that already this year? Oh about three times I suspect. So much action, intrigue and heart break in a single episode.

Opening shot of Ginger screaming into the camera ala Alfred Hitchcock’s masterpiece “Psycho”. How appropriate for this episode? Our psychotic characters travel further and further down the rabbit hole to the point of no return. Continuing to spin their webs of deceit and intrigue.

The “Psycho” references continued with the Sookie and Bill Compton sex scene with the close up of the shower head, the shower curtain with dark lurking figure, hand peeking from around the corner and finally the blood swirling down the drain. What was Alan Ball signaling to the viewers? Sookie’s life blood being drained from her? Her and Bill’s relationship finally going down the drain?

Revisiting the idea of masks this week again, it appears that everyone’s masks were being revealed. Eric and Pam in a tender moment at Fangtasia talking about him meeting the ultimate death and wishing for Pam to be maker. Pam being unmasked as not being the snarky on liner biatch but devastated that Eric has kept deep and emotional secrets from her during their entire relationship about the murder of his family members. Eric being unmasked revealing that he is not the cold, heartless vampire that some made him out to be. He is a very caring and loving vampire maker who only wants the best for his child but is realistic about his chances of getting out of this mess he is in. “Its easier to pin it on a sheriff in custody than a rogue King.” I have a feeling Alan Ball is foreshadowing to the finale of TB this season with this line.

Nan Flanagan and her V feds arriving at Fangtasia and revealing the underbelly of Vampire Politics and the Authority. While the exchanges between Eric and Nan were interesting the best part of the episode was when Nan’s mask came off in her limousine revealing her as just another politician who says one thing and does another. Tru Blood my azz Nan. That’s the true face of the mainstreaming movement we are in for some deep doo doo for sure.

Sam unmasking the darker side of his persona that not even Tara or Tommy has been privy to. As Sam drop kicked Calvin to the other side of the bar, I couldn’t help but think about Bill’s blood coursing through Sam’s veins. I guess no one should mess with a shifter on vampire blood. Lots of vampire blood.

Tara being unmasked as the victim of Franklin’s psychotic rants and attending Holly’s support group for women. Anyone thinking that it was a witch’s coven and had nothing to do with victim’s support? I suspect Holly will be trying to recruit both Arlene and Tara for her little “support” group.

La La finally being unmasked from his thick as bark exterior and Jesus doing the “unmasking”. Ruby Jean realizing as soon as she saw her son the next morning. Ruby Jean revealing herself as a beautiful individual who intensely intuitive. Ruby Jean your mask of “drugs” has been removed and I expect we will be seeing more of her in the next episodes.

It goes on and on throughout the episode. Hoping we see some more masks being revealed next episode. Chime in with more of the masks that were revealed in this episode.

    Another wonderful post pbt.

I never thought about about that group being a coven. You could be right, maybe it isn’t a support group but a coven. Yes, Nan is full of it. Hopefully, one night Eric will stake her. All though, Nan is funny. This is a second time a woman’s wanted Eric’s fangs! There were so many good quotes in that episode. You listed most of the ones I liked. James Frain had some chilling quotes.

Here is a few more good quotes to add to the ones pbt and Nia mentioned:
Franklin to Tara, “I’ll mourn you, Tara. I’ll mourn you to my marrow.”

Sookie to Bill, “Just once I’d like to not find a dead body in my house. Is that asking too much?”

Laffy to Jesus, ” I wanted to meet the sick f***** who ordered the veggie burger with bacon.” (reminded me of hamburger incident in season 1)

Hoyt to Jessica,”God help me but I f-ing hate her. Everything is dolls ans show tunes and cleaning stuff.”

Pam to Eric,” We’ve lived through so much for so long. It can’t end this quickly.”

Pam to Eric,” You didn’t need to carry it all by yourself.”

rugby82

Great episode. Best as always Eric and his intense moment with Pam.
His storyline thanks to the fact that is strectly connected with Russel made him the biggest character this season as all the web said from 3.01.
So sad Franklin is dead..i mean WTF???why??he had so much potential…i don’t like the way they cut him off.
Vote 8.5

    lizzie1701

Hello Rugby82! Haven’t read any of your caustic anti Bill remarks for a long time!

I think you are on the wrong web sites. ALL the ones I have been reading say that Bill has had the most invigorating storyline, especially since 3.01 and word in the media is that Stephen Moyer should be put up for an Emmy for his excellent portrayal of Bill Compton. Stephen rocked this season so far!
Eric has also had good scenes.

The season is not finished so we do not know the whole story (yes! yes! the books! I know!)but heck, I will still support Bill WHATEVER!

Lets see if Eric is not addicted to Sookie once he has had her blood as I gather he may trick her again next episode with that kiss!

YES!! That shower scene was WOW!! So sexy and passionate and oh so tender! Did you notice how he caressed her breast? Sookie was not objecting! Did you not feel that kiss! Have another look! It rocks you in your nethers!

Maybe you are watching a different show, because you are missing so much!

Oh well, will have to go back to my other sites – full of Bill love. You should come over and see how many people are Bill shippers – it may surprise you!

Till next time, go True Blood!

    Isis Nocturne

There was only love and passion in that scene, but had it been with Eric, I have the feeling that your comment would be the opposite. Just a reminder: discussion and debates are great but flaming is not appropriate. For that reason, your comment has been edited for not following our Comment Policy.

We have great discussions here, but we will not allow those discussions to be turned into slinging matches based upon people’s favorite characters.

      lizzie1701

      Isis,

You, Adore Bill and I have been named in a post over at HBO for beign pro Bill and giving Erics a hard time. They said I was even a crazy poster and that you guys tick off the Eric shippers for posting anything about Eric and would defend me if I wrote a pro Bill post, or some such rubbish! lol! We are famous! I just don’t care for rabid posters. That’s all.

        Isis Nocturne

LMAO, Lizzie! If they can’t defend their point of view without attacking us, then they don’t really have a leg to stand on, unlike our awesome posters here! *sends hugs to everyone* You, Adore Bill, and I (amongst others) may not agree with the Eric fans’ POV, but we listen to what they have to say and respond with our own points. I have so much respect for Jaxx, PBT, Nia, Antonio, Sandy, and everyone else here (sorry for any names I missed) for being civil to each other and making points without attacking other posters. I love that we maintain such a nice atmosphere here for everyone! 🙂

          jaxx

Thank you Isis and Adore Bill!!! That was very kind of both of you. We all have our bad days here, myself included, but you learn attacking other isn’t the way to go. It’s not fun for anyone and quite frankly just makes us look bad. There is no sense having a discussion if no one is listening and everyone is mud slinging and arguing. What fun is that???

You’re both right, while we do not always agree, we don’t have to because we are all mature enough to respect another’s opinion even if we don’t necessarily understand it or agree with it. That what debating is all about.

I can’t speak for anyone else, but I like it here and will continue to post unless it becomes ugly, then there’s no point anymore.

Which site is it?? I’d like to go straighten them out about our wonderful site and its posters. Let me at them. 😉

          Nia

Awe shucks, **blushing furiously** thanks ladies for that great vote of confidence. Yes we can occasionally get a bit out of sorts but we try to get over it. We just love our men!

First and foremost it should be about respect and courtesy, towards AB, the actors, and each other.
I know I have seen some terrible things out there too ladies. It is most shocking and hurtful but I would like to think that most of us can rise above that.
Well thanks again Isis and AdoreBill. You are the main reasons we keep coming back!
          Nite!

        Ollie Chong aka AdoreBill

        Hi Lizzie,

So we are famous over there LOL too funny! We started on the HBO boards when the show began but it got to the point that everyone was attacking each other and there was no civility left there. That is only one of reasons why we started this site (First being our great love for Alan Ball’s vision of True Blood). I just find it funny that they state they we give Eric a hard time. If anything I try my best to make sure everyone is welcome and that if they make a point that they are able back it with facts from the show to explain their point of view. Not to say things without justification or stuff from the books. I recall the language used on that board and the name-calling that was going on which was unacceptable.

I think many of the commentors on this site (Jaxx, PBT, Nia, Sandy, Caitlin, Antonio, Isis and yourself and the many others) are role models to others that both Eric fans and Bill fans can love their favorites and still be able to discuss with each other the amazing storylines and this fabulous show called True Blood without having to segregate. Isn’t it funny that a show about acceptance leads to so many wanting to show their ugly side or perhaps their true side that if one doesn’t share the same viewpoint as them that they cannot appreciate what the other has to say.

I am just proud to say that the commentors here are shining examples of maturity, civility and most of all examples of the goodness in humans shining through and working through their differences. 🙂

          lizzie1701

Hi Adore Bill. This is a most civil site and I only go angry at the rabids. I see them everywhere and I too, went over to the HBO site and found the posts there unacceptable unless you were a Eric lover. I went to the Red Wiki (which I still lurk) and foudn the rabids loved your jugular there as well, so now am on the Blue Wiki where it is a Bill friendly site but had nice Eric lovers who can’t stand the rabids over at the Red or HBO site. So, between this and the Blue Wiki, I find I am amongst friends.

          lizzie1701

Hi Jaxx, I wouldn’t worry about it. Her name was Ann*** (changes it on diff sites) and she started a thread on the HBO Official site called “Lies that Bill has told” or something like that. She dedicated a whole para to us, but not saying it was this site, but saying that Adore Bill, Isis and Lizzie (crazy poster) were all pro Bills and always hot down Eric perspectives etc. She actually wrote our names! I wanted to respond to that thread, so, nasty me, said “Hi Ann**! I’m that Lizzie from that other site’. Here are my views etc. I was very nice in my views. Doesn’t she realise that posters lurk all over the place?

          Isis Nocturne

Hey Lizzie, I wonder about some of those posters too. After all, there are a LOT of True Blood fans, and many of them go to many sites! *smh* I’d never EVER say something like that about anyone on ANY site! Whether or not I agree with someone’s opinion here, I’d NEVER badmouth anyone! All of our opinions are valid when it comes to True Blood, and the more conversation and theories shared, the better! 🙂

BTW, I took a look over there… WOW is all I have to say! *smh*

          Sandy

          Isis,

I have been online a very long time (1993 lol have the same nick since then – it’s even my email address) what is *smh*? I know most acronyms but you have me stumped with that one. LOL.

Cheers to all my Trubie mates
          Sandy

          Isis Nocturne

          Hi Sandy,

*smh* stands for “shaking my head” 🙂

          jaxx

Wow, I don’t visit too many other sites. A friend of mine has her own smaller one that I visit and one or two other friendly sites but that’s it. I tried the red wiki once, never again. The stories you all tell of the other sites, not for me. I’m happy with the places I visit, including this one.

          Nia

          Hi Isis,
You and AdoreBill are the main reasons I come back here (well of course also because of my other fellow TB lovers).
You were my first home and experience in TB and you happen to be excellant mistresses of your site and are fair to all. That is very important.
I had to see what Lizzie was talking about and am shocked that such things are allowed to stand. It is hurtful and hateful to Alan B., HBO, the actors and any fan who may not share their opinion.
What a shame to degrade a show and others that way.
I saw a thread that was listed as “How much this episode sucked” or something to that effect. Unbelieveable.
I am sure that HBO and Alan B give such hateful things the attention they deserve, which is not at all.
I am sorry if this was a downer, but I just had to remark on this and some other terrible things I saw. I do not subscribe to such things and prefer sites that are more professional in their views and information. Sad but it should be handled more profesionally.
I will always give AB, TB, and HBO all the love and support they deserve no matter what happens.

          Please everyone enjoy their weekend.

          jaxx

Ok, this is just too weird. I went on the HBO site to read the nasty comments and there is another poster on the HBO site that signs on as Jax B. Just to clear things up, that is NOT me. I always use jaxx with 2 “xx” in some way, shape or form on all the sites I post on. I just registered there today for the first time and only to make it clear that I am not the same Jax B that posts there.

          lizzie1701

Hi Jaxx, Yes I saw that other Jax and when that Ann whatever asked if it was you, that Jax was not sure, so I gathered it was not you.
I went back last night and could not find the “Lies that Bill has told” site. Maybe I did not look too far as there are a lot of threads.

I won’t be seeing the next ep until next Thursday as I am going away for a few days and no internet! What to do!!!
          Enjoy the ep. everyone!

          Go True Blood!

TVA HOLIC

I agree this season has been loaded with everything and outshines last season. I wanted Sam’s character to expand maybe with a girlfriend but I sure didn’t see the “beat down” coming. Maybe his “brother will calm down a bit it seems that he could go in many directions since he’s been freed from “the family”. I think weird Crystal and family could be werepanthers. The King and Franklin seem to be mental equals but the King gave a memorable closing performance.

lizzie1701

We can only hope! I hope it does not go that far, though. I don’t want to see him staked, so to speak!

D. Reilly

Ahahaha…,,,I just knew it would happen sometime…and it did !! Bill ‘walked on water’ .. ..and was ‘in the light’ .. he also got a ‘shower scene’ !! What next ?? A cross ??

    Sandy

LOL! Well it has to be made that Bill’s not all bad when Sookie finds out about his reasons for being in BT. See my thinking is, she would be fed up with one last lie – even if it’s not the worst lie.
Does that mean she’ll run to Eric? Who knows. Sex probably.

They have made Eric rather saintly this season too. We’ve not seen him really be “bad”.

    Cheers

My computer sucks after an upgrade and I only could see a few scenes inbetween serious buffering and freezing. Saw the wonderfully erotic shower scene which left a big smile on my face and did you not love where Bill put his hand? Wishs it was me! That kiss was so passionate as well! Lucky Sookie and lucky Anna!

Saw bits and pieces of Eric at the beginning losing his cool. Guess he did not have a plan – either for the killing of Talbot or what to do when he got back to Fangtasia. Eric being a little human?

Saw the wrapping of of the Were scene and agree they are making Bill out of to be more sinister, especially with his eye makeup. I guess I am hoping that all is not what is seems and it will be more simple then complex or whatever! Saw the part where Bill went to Fairy land. Did he really want to bite Claudine for blood or was it just a reaction of her running and him catching her? He was one confused Vamp! Anyhow, I would have loved to have heard their conversation. Saw KRE crying over Talbot and just a scene with Laf and Jesus in gorgeous kiminoes. Saw talbot at the TV studio but did not realise that hehad the blood from the anchor man – thought it was Talbot.

Anyhow, thought I had my computer fixed but when I put it on last night I have no sound! Name of this episode “Beautifully Broken”. What is wrong with my computer? Don’t know, but it is also beautifully broken!

The name of this episode is called EVERYTHING IS BROKEN. and it sounds like your computer is too.sorry i hope it gets fixed soon

Don’t want to mention to much of what is in the books, but in the books, Vampires find Fairies irresistable, and they cannot help being drawn to them. Bills reaction to Claudine was just his vampire instinct coming through, but I do not think he meant her any real harm. He probably thought he was dreaming at first.

This is random. QSA should have had Eric create the “Fangtasia Calender” instead of selling the V. Tourists would have bought them like crazy. Bill could be in it to. LOL

Hello everyone!!! Let the craziness continue. What an episode. Looks like everything is broken with everyone in this episode. This was one of my very favorite episodes this year.

Russell stole the show. I was glued to my seat with my mouth hung open when he went to the TV station and pulled that newscaster’s spine out for all to see and then he ends it with “Now time for the weather, Tiffany?” I was speechless for minutes. Great acting Denis, love ya.

I also don’t buy the storyline Bill is giving Sookie regarding the dossier file and blaming it on Eric. The truth will come out, hopefully from Sookie reading more of Hadley’s mind or some other way, but it will come out. Then we’ll take it from there.

Crystal and Jason’s story is heating up. That Crystal is nuttier than a fruitcake. Jason, you don’t know what you’re in for. BTW, we still need the reveal regarding Jason killing Eggs and the impact it will have on Tara and Andy and everyone else. I’m guessing that will be a cliffhanger for S4. Is Andy going to be a V addict now to get rid of his ulcer???

Loved, loved, loved Eric this episode. You really see all the pain he’s gone through and is going through now, wanting to save Pam. Loved the tenderness between them. Eric is all about protecting Pam too. Eric only reveals what needs to be revealed in order to protect both Pam and Sookie.

Sam is going off the deep end. I really wanted him to be the stable one of BT. We will see his dark side next week. Poor Sam, he just wanted to know his real family and where he came from and establish a relationship with kin. My heart really goes out to him. It’s going to get worse for him before it gets better though. 🙁

Hadley is terrified for her son. She will hide him, but with who??? That should be interesting to see.

Glad Tara found a support group. That girl needs all the support and friendships she can muster up. Hope she gets her life back soon but after she finds out that Jason killed Eggs, not so sure what will happen there. RIP Franklin, we loved your craziness.

Hate to say this, but wonder if Holly is going to put a spell on Arlene and she will miscarry the baby after professing she really doesn’t want it. Poor Terry will find out the truth next week. I feel bad for him.

Jess and Hoyt are touching. I hope things work out for them. Summer reminds me of Hoyt’s mama too much. She has to go.

There were a couple of strange things going on in this episode. What’s up with the whole storm trooper/robocop vampire guards and the whole authority??? Caitlin is right, 1984 revisited???

And, I just don’t get the whole Bill/Fae experience. Why was he there? He had too much of Sookie’s blood?? Why dressing in white like Godric and walk on water??? That was a little over the top, imo. Then after giving him a saintly posture, Bill tries to attack Claudine??? IDK, the whole thing just very odd to me.

It was funny though how Bill and Sookie cleaned up the dead were like if they were folding the daily laundry and tiding up the house. That made me laugh.

Well only 3 more action packed episodes left. These next 3 should be really good for a phenomenal ending to this season. Have to say I’ve thoroughly enjoyed this season so far and am looking forward to S4. Good writing and directing this season. 🙂

    Hi jaxx,
Indeed this was the episode for broken masks! I agree with your comments. I was also stunned at the end of the episode. I thought Russell was going to kill Nan while she was in the limo. You had to love those lines at the end about eating the children and time for the weather. At first, I didn’t know what part of the body he was holding. He owned that episode.

I also didn’t get Bill in fairyland. The walking on water? It was neat though and that white outfit looked good. I think AB is delaying the Sookie/Bill breakup to create more tension. When Bill’s secrets are revealed someone mentioned it will be worse than in the books. I agree somethings going to happen to Arlene’s baby. Yes, eventually the truth about Eggs murder will have to come out. Poor Tara when that happens! Jason is her hero. Like I said I really want Tara/Jason hookup.

What did you think about Jesus in this episode (jaguar tattoo)? Jesus and Laffy were cute in this episode

Honestly, Jason should tell Crystal to F-off pardon the language but it’s true. Sam needed to blow off some steam though. It was hard to watch. I didn’t like Tommy much in this episode. I think he was testing the waters with Sam. Sam’s supposed to start drinking!

      jaxx

Oh you’re right I forgot about Jesus and Lala. I think Jesus brings out the best in Laf. I don’t know what Jesus is. Another shifter/were animal would just be too ordinary. AB’s been there, done that. He’s something else. Does he know Quinn?? The jaguar looked like it had webbed feet. IDK, will be interesting to find out.

Don’t want to see Sam go down that path. He’s too good of a guy for all this heartache. Tommy is testing Sam for sure. I’ll be glad when all the Mickens are gone.

        ~ Caitlin

Sometimes I like Tommy and other times I don’t. I would like to see him stick around and become nicer. Yah Sam can never get ahead. All his workers die or never show up to work half the time. Tommy was right people do walk all over Sam. He’s the shepherd who takes in all the stray sheep.

Sandy

I think Bill’s fall from grace will happen as part of the season cliff hanger.
Denis O’Hare’s KoM totally stole the show!
….Tiffany?

Cheers

This episode was real good. There was a lot going on in one episode like the Authorities being in Fangtasia.Eric telling Pam about his human family and the authorities as well I know he was being truthful. Russel is pure evil a true villian I love to hate. I thought Maryanne was bad last season this guy makes look like a saint!!!!!!!!!!When Russel ripped that spine out that news anchor while Nan watched it on tv and the look on her face was expressing that Eric better do something to stop him. Holly is intriguing to me at Merlottes she must be pagan or witch. Hmmmmmmmmmmmm! The mind wanders. I think Jesus could be a werepanther because of the tattoo on his chest. Im just speculating here.
I dont entirely think Bill was being honest with Sookie about the file on her and her family oh well everything will all come out in the wash in the end.
I , too am staRTING to read the books and Im on bk 4 in which I hope AB does put the amnesia story in his show it would be interesting to watch to see how it plays out.
Im thinking Eric should take down Russel but in the mist of it something happens and he gets amnesia like Sookie accidently uses her power and zaps him and it gives him amnesia.
I m looking forward to another sunday with TrueBlood then the season will be over in 3 episodes.
I so hate waiting

~ Caitlin

I agree with Janie Logan that the “Authority” seems similar to “Big Brother” in 1984. They looked like a bunch of robots in a den. Eric’s poring his soul out to these people who don’t care about his human family. The irony is that Eric could probably kill those “Authority” members in mear seconds. I think Bill could probably kill them as well. Russell made a good point when he spoke to Eric a few weeks ago. He claimed that the “Authority” has power because vampires allow them to have it. Sounds similar to Orwell’s messege in 1984. It’s somewhat infuriating to know that those people are part of the “Auhtority”. Does Nan even know who the “Auhtority” is? Seems as though she only speaks to it via bluetooth headset.

Eric was so truthful in this episode. I was surprised that he told Nan about his family. Interestingly, Eric seemed very human when he was retelling the his story. I loved Pam’s pink warmup outfit. It was a nice contrast to the black that everyone else was wearing. It seperated her from the group. I loved the scene between Pam/Eric. It was so beautiful. Also, the music was lovely. Eric won’t let Pam take the fall. He should have told her the truth a long time ago. However, I understand his reasoning. The two of them are so much alike. They would be a good couple. It’s to bad the passion fizzled between them… Pam loves being a vampire. However, if Eric died, I do not think she would enjoy it anymore. I still hope we get to see a Pam/Eric flashback. Dare I say, Eic might love Pam as much or even more than himself.

Finally, we got to meet Hunter. I wish Sookie could have spent a little more time with him. I hope Hadely and Hunter stay safe. This is True Blood so that is unlikely.

Was Bill being competely truthful about the file? Sadly, I don’t think Bill was entirely honest about the file. Sharon mentioned Bill had that guilty look on his face.

I really enjoyed the Tara/Franklin scene. Those meetings are helping Tara. It was wonderful to see Tara stand up for herself. Actually, Jason proved that he isn’t completely unintellegent. He shot Franklin with the wooden bullets. At some point, I would like to see Tara and Jason together. I wonder when Tara will find out about Jason killing Eggs.

I want Hoyt and Jessica to reunite. Summer is annoying. At least one couple on this show deserves some happiness. Plus Hoyt’s storyline needs salvaging. Laffy was cute in this episode. The Ruby Jean scene was sweet.

I’m still confused about Jesus? Is he a nice guy or “Satan in a Sunday hat”?
1.)Maybe he is a werejaguar. 2.) Also, he could just be into voodoo mysticism. 3.) like pbt mentioned he could be a warlock. 4.) fae? As the weeks pass, it seems more unlikely that Jesus is fae. 5.) related to Rene 6.) somehow connected to Hot Shot. Just possibilities though.

Sam’s violent scene made me cringe. I swear you could hear bones crunching. Russell is maniacal. He might be more dangerous now. Russell has lost the ability to reason. I don’t even know what to say about that ending. The look on Nan’s face said it all. Eric’s going to need a lot of brain storming and aid to defeat Russell.

So much for keeping it short!

Sharon

Bill is definatley being set up for a big fall from grace over the next few episodes. You can see from the look in his eye that he is lying to Sookie about why he has a file on her, I believe he is lying to Claudine about wanting to keep Sookie safe. The meetings between Hadley and Sookie are enlightening as she gives clues that Bill has not entered her life by chance. She says in the last episode that it is “all her fault”, she starts to share knowledge with Sookie about why the Vampires are interested in her and she is extremely worried for Hunter. I have read the books, I am not going to say what is going to happen, because it is not fair to spoil it for people who have not read the books, but as a Bill fan, I am not looking forward to the truth being revealed.
But I can say that it is all very exciting, the writers have done a brilliant job this season keeping the suspense and the drama alive and keeping us guessing what is going to happen next. Ultimately I am a big True Blood fan above anything else, I just hope I do not end up hating Bill to much.

    Isis Nocturne

Sharon, the books are not going to be followed to the letter, and as such really shouldn’t be used to make points on True Blood. In fact, I still find it interesting that Alan Ball did NOT specify that Eric would be the one with amnesia, even though he confirmed that plotline. To me, that says a whole lot more than what the books do.

And why would Bill lie to Claudine about wanting to keep Sookie safe? He LOVES her.

And how could anyone hate Bill? He’s the male lead of True Blood, and a new season isn’t going to change that.

      ~ Caitlin

      Hi Isis,

I do agree that Bill was telling the truth to Claudine that he does want to keep Sookie safe. However, he does put her in danger. You could be right about the amnesia storyline. Who knows with AB. Personally, I hope it will be the same person who has amnesia in the books though.

        Isis Nocturne

Honestly, at this point I’m having more and more doubts about that, Caitlin. I’m thinking it’s going to be someone close to the original person…. Or someone who will make life difficult should they have amnesia. I just doubt it’ll be the same as in the books. AB is FAR too crafty for that! LOL

          Sharon

Don’t get me wrong, I do believe Bill loves Sookie and wants her to be safe, but he is definatley not being truthful and is keeping something from her. This will ultimatley come down to why Sophie Ann and the vampires want Sookie ( remember Hadley also knows whats going on and she was very frightened when she found out Hunter is the same as Sookie)and Bill knows the answer, and because of this, he is putting Sookie in danger.

          ~ Caitlin

Maybe Lafayette will get amnesia. Ruby Jean talked about supes coming for him. That’s a possibility. I wouldn’t be surprised if the person I want to have amnesia doesn’t. It could still happen.

          Semiramis

Isis, I am with you on that. I just can’t believe that AB would say that and it means the same character from the books. That’s too easy. It’s why I love TB so much more, AB is going his own way and I for one, am loving the ride. This season is rocking, and my addiction to this show knows no bounds.
I am Canadian, and a friend just came back from shopping in the USA, and brought me a bottle of the True Blood beverage! Drink it, nah! It’s now displayed proudly in my curio cabinet. Go True Blood!

          Ollie Chong aka AdoreBill

          Hi Semiranis!

I’m another Canuck who also has her bottle proudly on display too. Also don’t know which province you are in but in Ontario you can get TruBlood at Sunrise Records (though not many around anymore). 😀

          Nia

Hi Ssemiramis, AdoreBill, Lizzie and Isis!
I am unfortunately not a Canuk or from down under. I definitely feel a close connection and love you guys! 🙂
No great disance can fade our lvoe and admiration for this remarkable show (and one hot sexy dark southern vamp!)

I also have my True blood bottles proudly on display for all to see. I have given them away as gifts as well.

          Chiao!

          lizzie1701

          Love you back, Nia!

It is great to have such great friends over the ether because of this wonderful show and a gorgeous dark haired Southern Vamp!

          Go True Blood!

          LLE

I like the character of Bill when he is a bad guy and AB is making him a bad guy. Claudine is right that Bill thinks he loves Sookie the only thing he really loves is Sookie’s blood.

AB is planning on breaking up Bill and Sookie and it going to be a lot of worst than CH did in the books. AB did tell that we are going to find the real reason Bill came to town and why he gotten involved with Sookie. Bill in the books was not evil but Bill is really a bad guy thanks to AB. The character of Bill needs to get a story far way from Sookie because he can very be interested character.

        Nia

Caitlin, has not Eric put Sookie in danger more often? And
it is Bill who constantly saves her and protects her?
One must give all their fair due.
