Kristin Bauer van Straten and Joe Manganiello Shine at the Art of Elysium Heaven Gala

True Blood Stars Come Out for Charity

Kristin at Art of Elysium GalaThe ever beautiful and talented Kristin Bauer van Straten (Pamela Swynford De Beaufort) was spotted at the Art of Elysium Heaven Gala on January 15, 2011 along with husband Abri van Straten. Fellow True Blood co-star Joe Manganiello (Alcide Herveaux) was also in attendance looking quite debonair with fiancée Audra Marie at his side.

Kristin and Joe attended the event for the Art of Elysium Foundation which was created in 1997. Its purpose is to bring children who are dealing with serious medical conditions together with actors, artists, and musicians who in turn provide the children with workshops in disciplines such as acting, art, music, and fashion.

Joe Manganiello and Audra MarieCelebrity fashion blog The Fashion Patrol also attended the event and snapped some very nice pictures of our True Blood cast members. Kristin was interviewed by the blog in a video that can be seen below. In it, she states that the sparkly dress that she is wearing is designed by Mandalay and that awards season to her means being dressed up and attending events. But in true Kristin style, the actress says that while she keeps track of True Blood’s nominations, she prefers to stick to being an actor.

Kristin’s interview starts at 6:02 and ends around 6:30.

We here at TBN commend Kristin and Joe for supporting what seems to be a very worthy and worthwhile cause and cannot wait to see what they bring to the new season of True Blood in June!

Sam Trammell Donates a Once in a Lifetime Experience for Charity

True Blood Set Visit and Lunch up for Auction

Sam TrammellTrue Blood Season 4 may still be a long way off, but Sam Trammell (Sam Merlotte) has just donated an experience to charitybuzz.com that may make the waiting a little bit easier. The actor recently offered up a visit to the True Blood set and lunch with the cast and crew for the lucky winner and a guest.

According to the auction listing, the once in a lifetime experience will benefit Children Mending Hearts. The organization is described as a “global arts exchange” between at risk children here in the United States and those in conflict zones around the world. Through the exchange, the goal is for children to develop their own voice and to promote peace from the dialogue they participate in with others. Sounds like a very worthwhile organization!

The terms of the auction state that both the winner and guest must be 18 years-old or over, that the visit will be arranged at a mutually agreeable time, and that the presence of your favorite actors cannot be guaranteed on the day that you visit.

If you can’t resist passing up this unique experience, click on the source link below. But don’t wait too long to place your bid! The auction ends next Tuesday, January 11, 2011. For those truebies who would like to show their support for Children Mending Hearts, click on the secondary source link below for more information and to donate.

Good luck to all who participate!

True Blood Newbie Brandon Molale Set to Give Back on Christmas Eve

Molale Will Volunteer at Los Angeles Mission on Friday

brandon molaleTis the season to give back to others Truebies! This year the Los Angeles Mission has partnered up with Jennifer Love-Hewitt from Ghost Whisperer to host its Christmas Eve Event. Among the celebrity volunteers slated to help on this Friday is Brandon Molale who will be appearing on True Blood for the first two episodes of season 4 thus far. You may recall that I reported on his casting earlier this month. At the time his role was listed only as “Officer X.” But IMDB has recently updated his character’s name to be Officer Featherstone.

Molale will join other celebrities such as R&B singer Brandy Norwood and actor Gilles Marini from Brothers & Sisters among others to provide families with toys, coats, and other gifts for the holidays. This isn’t his first time working with the Los Angeles Mission. According to his official website Brandonmolale.com, he worked with them for a Thanksgiving event as well. IMDB also notes that he has worked with other charities such as Make-A-Wish and the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation among others. What a guy!

The True Blood cast is no stranger to charitable works so it looks like Brandon will fit right in. Welcome aboard Brandon! We can’t wait to see what you bring us for Season 4.

True Blood’s ‘Alcide’ Returns Home To Fight Poverty:

Joe Manganiello, True Blood's Alcide, Macy's Parade Salvation Army CharityJoe Manganiello, True Blood's Alcide, Macy's Parade Salvation Army Charity

Though the cast of True Blood is without a doubt extremely giving of their time and energy, it seems that Joe Manganiello simply never stops being a ‘good guy’—even during the holidays.

Many of us return to the places we call ‘home’ for Thanksgiving, but this weekend Manganiello is going home and while he’s there he’ll participate in a Meet and Greet to benefit The Salvation Army.

Dubbed ‘Mt. Lebanon’s (a suburb of Pittsburgh) own Hollywood heartthrob,’ Joe will be on hand for the WPXI TV Channel 11 My Macy’s Parade and the aforementioned Meet and Greet to benefit The Salvation Army.

Here’s how to meet Joe, get his autograph and a photo of you and the big-hearted Mr. Manganiello, too!

Where: After the parade at the WPXI TV and 96.1 KISS Salvation Army Red Kettle drive at the Homestead Waterfront Towne Square.

When: Saturday, November 27th from 2:00 to 3:00 pm

Cost:  It’s FREE!

Admission is free, plus enjoy free Dave and Busters gift cards and other prizes while supplies last. For a suggested donation of $5.00, get an autograph and snap a photo with the popular TV and movie star. Please help WPXI, KISS FM, Joe and The Salvation Army wage war on poverty.

The Salvation Army had this to say about Joe:

“WPXI and Clear Channel have a long history of supporting The Salvation Army at Christmas,” said The Salvation Army’s Western Pennsylvania Divisional Commander Major Robert Reel. “We are thrilled to have Joe on board, giving his time to help our families in need. It says a lot about his character that he remembers to give back to his hometown.”

Aww.  Truly, Joe Manganiello’s goodness of heart is one to admire and try to emulate.

We hope everyone has a super-happy Thanksgiving. Enjoy the games, the parades and/or extra day off!

Allan Hyde Supports SOS Africa

Allan Hyde Holds Auction to Help SOS Africa

As we know, almost everyone involved with True Blood has a charity (or even a few charities) they support. The same can be said for Allan Hyde, who will hopefully continue playing vampire Eric Northman‘s maker Godric in more flashback scenes on True Blood.

In order to help SOS Africa, a small, non-profit charity that supports underprivileged township children in Africa by caring for them and funding their educations, Allan set up an auction on Allan-Hyde.net with tons of great True Blood swag in it!

The Auction

There is a lot of True Blood swag in the collection for the auction. There is a signed picture of Allan, a sketch of Godric, a brand new copy of the Scandinavian magazine VMan featuring Alexander Skarsgard on the cover, special copies of Charlaine HarrisLiving Dead in Dallas and Club Dead, and the special True Blood Swag Bag that cannot be purchased anywhere.

But wait, there’s more! Included with the above is a special set of 10 postcards, each featuring a different ‘Waiting Sucks’ ad from the True Blood’s Season 3 ad campaign. Finally, the winner of the auction also gets the Season 3 promotional poster that has the cast in an eerie, swampy setting.

Don’t feel guilty about your love of True Blood! Instead, go bid on the auction and do good for others while you support your True Blood addiction. The auction ends on October 21, so bid while you can!
